#4 This means they knew that if it comes to a bitter domestic struggle against the Democrat putsch, there are individuals in the military who will ditch their loyalties to immediate command. The Capitol Hill action probably gave them a shock, but it's the trained people, soldiers and vets they fear as nationalists. They need to close those 'gaps' fastest. Normally the first thing you do when you seize power. Having just thrown *their* rascals out and installed your own, you better make sure no one does the same to you, so you round up any loose guns, stand a few (dissidents|kulaks|deplorables) up against the wall, and tie up any loose ends/contenders for the throne before you get down to grifting your new People's Republic.

This is exactly the opposite of what America's founders did. The Constitution lays out what the government can and cannot do, along with a list of inalienable rights of Americans. That makes the American Revolution unique in the history of tossing out rascals.
