#2 Police said Cueva had a "violent criminal history," including drug charges involving cocaine and meth.

Y'all saying that, but he was a gentle giant, man turning his life around. (do I need to put a /sarc on that?) A mere 100 years earlier, these people would have already been 6 foot under. Instead, we fund a massive catch and release program hosting over a million sociopaths because we pay hundreds of millions of dollars for our 'virtue'. Dealing with the uncivilized in a civilized manner doesn't remove the barbarian in the man.

#3 /\ Dealing with the uncivilized in a civilized manner doesn't remove the barbarian in the man.

Very aptly describes much that is wrong with the criminal justice system, and in more broad terms, the malady that has beset our US foreign policy today, but I digress.

#6 A mug with a scowl like that needs to be pulled over and shot in the ass with a .38, just so his aspect can match his condition in life.

#7 So much for California's Three Strikes law. If Mr. Cueva was rotting in a California penitentiary as intended by the voters in this state, he'd still be alive today and not wreaking havoc in other states. It appears the law was later watered down, no doubt at the instigation of our illustrious Democrat legislators. Even so it's hard to understand how a bad actor like Cueva ended up running loose in New Mexico.

#8 Perhaps Cueva's release from prison in California gets back to a suspicion I've voiced previously about why politicians like Nancy Pelosi refuse to secure the border. One reason, of course, is the need for a steady stream of ignorant peasants who won't know any better than to vote Democrat. But another reason for Madame Pelosi's intransigence on this matter could well be the steady flow of narco dollars and the need for guys like Cueva to keep those dollars flowing.

#9 Don't forget the intent of Nancy, etc... to keep the 'War on Drugs' going as long as possible.

Careet Politicians Never, Ever, solve the problems they run on.

#10 War on Drugs keeps the cost of illegal narcotics artificially high thus increasing profits. There would seem to be two logical choices: Win the war on drugs by securing the border or legalize methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and fentanyl. Now, we all know that people like Joe, Nancy and Kamala would never implement either of those two options. So, let's see, are they illogical or corrupt? I know, I know. Embrace the power of and.
