#1 Well, given their performance in the last 3 years ...

#3 Reagan knew to start out his administration with all new people. One of Trumps biggest failings.

#4 ^mistakes or failure not "failings"

#5 Sweeping everyone out is a D.C. politician's management tool. With a few exceptions, it's not a particularly popular business community model.

To his credit, President Trump gave most a chance to become part of the team, or an opportunity for failure. Obviously many chose betrayal and failure.

#7 I wonder about the motivation to remain loyal to a former two term president who cannot hold office again
What was or is the end game here with these individuals?

#8 No whining when Obama fired all the Bush AGs when he came into office. To include the one investigating his bud Bill Richardson for pay-to-play in NM.

#9 I'll cut Trump a little slack since, unlike Reagan, he had to fight the Anti-Trump Republicans as well as the Demonrats.

The Civil Service code needs overhaul so that it is easier to dump the hold overs.

#10 Good. It's a start.

The first one's gotta be that sweet, sweet hack pension. Plus half of them are socialists.

#12 Should be SOP on inauguration day for any GOP prexy. Look how well "playing nice" worked out for Boosh...

#13 I'd call it a failing still. Perhaps his only one? It's cost us dearly.

#14 Y'all are forgetting that right from the very beginning Trump had a hard time recruiting people. The Intel Community was threatening to refuse to brief him, senior people who might be expected to stay on either quit or were insubordinate, and a lot of the junior staffers turned out to be moles and leakers. Trump is still dealing with that to this day.

#15 Long overdue.

A basic rule of power is "get control of the 'organs' or nothing will get done."

The Civil Service code needs overhaul so that it is easier to dump the hold overs.

Yes.

If there are still debates/candidate forums/"townhalls" happening this year, people need to ask about civil service reform and candidates' (especially GOP ones) stands on this issue.

#16 Draining the swamp is tough. Some of these IGs have been very damaging.
Posted by JohnQC 2020-04-08 16:17||   2020-04-08 16:17|| Front Page Top

#17 I predict Trump will be the last president to have any hold-overs. We need something like the UK's shadow government with at least some positions pre-filled and ready to go on day one. Probably wouldn't have worked with Trump, but in most cases it would be better than accepting a permanent bureaucracy filled with at least some traitors.

#18 What we actually need is a lot less gummint. Don't need shit hole politicians waiting in the wings.

#19 Civil service needs an overhaul. Many good people, but many not into the 'service' thingy.
