#1 They were there to dispose of explosive materials, and they did so quite efficiently. Had they been there to discover the explosive and connect it to other crimes they would have done that efficiently instead. Still, the Germans have very good chemists; whatever can be discovered by scientists at this juncture will be, I am sure.
