#1 Couple of possibilities:

1. There may be an underlying condition not seen
2. Potential drug contraindication missed
3. Something in the her DNA was susceptible

Comparative DNA sequencing might show something and help the cause for a vaccine

#2 Forgot to add comparative with other cases of seemingly healthy young adults who had the same fate

#3 I'm not sure we can really trust 'no pre-existing conditions' to mean anything beyond no conditions in medical records these days.

#6 I'm of divided opinion on this news item.

On one hand, I've a 14 years old son.

On the other hand, like we all, I watched these young "people" gamboling in Fort Lauderdale, licking toilet bowls, etc...

#7 ^On the third hand, I don't know anything about the girl who died, and should be ashamed of thinking that I thought.

#8 There is always the random element too.

The virus in a 1 in a 100 chance hit the lungs hard.

There could also be some protein mutation or DNA encoding that made that person extra vulnerable to this virus.

These things do happen and we do see them in diseases that normally aren't that dangerous as well.
