#4 It will have zero impact in Suburban America. It's a old/poor man's disease - it will kill a few on the street and in nursing homes. Those already in a hospice with lung cancer/emphysema don't count. Just in case, don't eat monkeys or bats.

I survived Coronavirus in China :-)

#6 Coronavirus conspiracies debunked: 5G isn't responsible for the deadly infection and it didn't crash-land on Earth on a meteor

#7 /\ So, just as I suspected, the whacko theories of clandestine government bio research projects 'gone bad' have finally been debunked. We're back to "wolf cubs, salamanders, snakes, peacocks, porcupines and camel meat."

I'll take peacocks for $600. Alex.

#9 Re. #1, If 30% of US gets infected I do not understand why nearly 100% do not get infected. And it seems optimistic to expect 'only' a 0.5% fatality rate, especially since medical resources will be so overwhelmed as to be pointless.

#10 It is difficult to sort out the hype from the reality. The MSM hypes COVID-19. The risks may be another thing--it doesn't seem to be another Black Plague or even a flu epidemic such as 1917. Both were killers. Today, the turnaround time between new disease discovery and the development of vaccines or cures is shorter and shorter.

#11 H1N1, SARS, Covid-19...why is it always China? OK, there's ebola and HIV from Africa. Both regions seem to have difficulty with modern sanitation and common decency. Isn't it about time we minimized our exposure to these chronically ill societies?

#13 Isn't it about time we minimized our exposure to these chronically ill societies?

Long past time.

We will be far better off with less globalization and less exposure rather than more.

#15 Italy just sealed off Lombardy province.

#16 Sealed off? It’s getting even more interesting over there. Prayers for all involved, in Lombardy and around the world.

#17 You can only enter or leave Lombardy if you have a very "serious" reasons (gravi motivi) to do so.

Given that this is Italy, well... going for an espresso probably qualifies.

#19 Does going for pancetta or spaghetti bolognese qualify?

#20 Italy has done more testing than any other country in Europe, this may - to an extent - explain why numbers are so high there.

Death rate is high but average age od fatalities is 82 or so, and only 5% of fatalities had no other illness when the virus hit them.

Protecting old folks means you'll bring down the fatality rate. Sealing of entire provinces is nonsense.
