#3 What the author doesn't realize is much of Russian influence is because of arms sales and in the showroom of Ukraine western Arms are besting Russian arms and tactics on a daily basis. Even worse the Russians are manning their own gear so they can't play the old game of 'Saddam's troops weren't properly trained to use our tanks' while the west could say that and despite quick training the Ukrainians were able to use the Western weapons.

I believe this is why China hasn't sent war material, they hope to fill the vacuum left by Russia in the arms sales to dictators space.
