#3 From local EMS decades ago I heard a story of a man who pulled off the nearby interstate because he had chest pains & was concerned of a possible heart attack. This was before cell phones. He flagged down another driver for assistance. Picture two cars parked in the dark on the shoulder, close to each other. The two men were talking and standing in front of the two cars (this is always a horrible idea on any interstate -- if you have to gather together in these situations, get your body well away from the road).
As so often happens, another driver "followed" the car at the rear at full speed, ramming into it and pushed the column of cars ahead so that the man with chest pain was run over and killed on the spot. The would be helper was not injured in the slightest. No one else was involved.
When it's your time, it's your time.
