#3 I wonder if this is a trial of a new tactic or software, using a "drone swarm"? That sort of thing has been on the drawing board for a while, and a major offensive would be a great field test.

A drone squadron has some unique problems and capabilities. Not only crash avoidance, but target optimization have to be done very quickly.

There is also the possibility of some very peculiar time on targets. For example, having manned aircraft dropping guided, gliding weapons, which will be target adjusted enroute, that will splash just before the drones arrive, to target analyze then continue the attack against the misses and partials.
