#1 a great comment from the link:
Reid's not even dead yet and they're already fighting over his carcass? Classy bunch. Well, I guess that's no surprise..

#2 Too bad they can't both lose.

Oh wait - they can!

#3 And the funny part is, they could really be fighting over the minority leader position.

#4 Dick 'Head' Durbin, huh? I like the sound of that - it's appropriate no matter what happens.

#5 It would be more funny if both lost re-election too. I don't want to jinx it but Babs Boxer is not getting anywhere near 50% in polls. Dare I dream, dare I?

#6 my dad sent me the following today:

One thing I noted in todays paper: One has to vote the entire ticket of either party or your vote is rejected. This is a new law passed by Springfield in 2007 and is being enforced this year. I don't know which party it supports. Maybe the Republicans to cut down on those who only came to vote for the president in past elections. We had a lot of those when I served on the election board in the earlier years. /But it also means that the "crooks" get the same vote as the "good guys" of either party/. We need the open primary like they have in Wisconsin. One can vote for the good guys (and girls) in either party. This Illinois system guarantees party control of elections it seems.

#7 3dc: I was about to freak out when I realized that you were talking about the primaries. Before 2007 you could vote in *both* parties' primaries at the same time? Like pick-and-choose down the line?

I had no idea there was a state out there that loose with the rules. Even in the "open primary" states, it seemed like you had to make your mind up *while you were in the booth*, if not before or after the fact.
