#1 If there are Roman tombs nearby, then odds are pretty good. However, there were some graves found in China a few years ago that were also clearly caucasians -- Celts, actually -- that were damned old. They could be descendants of that group.

#6 Excepted from the Battle of Sogdiana, 38 B.C.:-

Sogdiana straddled the Silk Route and dominated the fertile valuable Tarim Basin, and Chih-chih now ruled supreme. That was the last straw. Chen tang, the associate Protectorate to Kan Yen-shou knew that Chih-chih the madman must be crushed. An expeditionary force of 40,000 men in two wings, was sent after Chih-chih. Driving his meager army back to his capital, Chih-chih was cornered.

The citys defenses consisted of an earthen wall, a double palisade, a moat, and towers for archers. There was a small force of Hunnic cavalry outside of the walls, and the Sogdian relief was notified of the Chinese advance. Approximately, 200 armored men were guarding the citys gate. These men were Roman Legionaires, survivors of Crassus defeat in 54 B.C., relocated to Sogdiana by the victorious Parthians, and now were defending Chih-chihs capital! Losers all, at this battle.

The Sogdian cavalry relief force arrived and attempted to break the seige from without. This failed miserably. The breach and ensuing combat resulted in Chih-chichs death and 1,518 heads taken. Among the prisoners were 145 Romans and 1,000 Sogdians. The Sogdians were handed over to the Chinese auxiliaries as new recruits and the Romans were relocated to Li-chien in Kansu Province.
