#1 If you actually want to actually read them, just call Boeing. I'm sure they'd be happy to help.

#2 just call Boeing

Apparently Boeing has some people with time on their hands.

#4 I’m a bit confused. What is the expectation re: the black box. Iran has fessed up to downing the plane with missiles. I must be missing something here?

#5 There may be something embarrassing on it?

#6 Re: the black box: the question is whether Iran will ever let an independent outsider examine it before Iran scrambles the contents, Ackoopmed.

But that’s just a formality, so that Iran doesn’t back away from their evolving admissions of culpability.

From the Washington Post Tuesday:

Iran confirmed in a report released Tuesday that two Russian-made antiaircraft missiles hit a Ukrainian airliner that was shot down on Jan. 8, killing all 176 aboard.

While Iran’s Revolutionary Guard had previously admitted it shot down the plane, the report marked the first official acknowledgment that two missiles struck the aircraft, matching amateur videos that surfaced after the Boeing 737-800 went down.

The report by Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization did not immediately say the Tor M-1 missiles caused the crash but only that “the impact of these missiles on the accident and the analysis of this action are under investigation.”

Russia announced the delivery of the Tor M-1 system — also known as SA-15 — to Iran in 2007.

#7 TW, I can see a need to ensure Iran continues to be very publically held accountable for their actions during AND after the downing. (p.s. Bothers the tar out of me that it's called a crash - it was shot down by missiles - that's why it crashed into the ground!). The boxes would be useful to determine cause; we know it was missile strikes and we know 2 of them. Boxes would ID specific systems failing, where failures occurring might indicate multiple strikes, maybe a few Holy Alan Snakbars from the cockpit voice recorder, etc. But we know that now. Can believe Iran would want to destroy the info before it became so obvious. Maybe that is the reason to press for inspection of the boxes, to document tampering. Just wondering out loud, not losing any sleep over this.
