Michigan Democrats tell parents they are NOT 'clients' of public schools, that children should be taught 'what society needs them to know' - and that taxpayers should stay out of education

#1 You exist to serve the state. Where have we heard that before?

#3 How'd that work out for the Dems in Virginia?

Whitmenr's up for re-election in less than two months?

[rubs hands together gleefully]

#4 Don't underestimate the ability of Whitless and her goons to stuff ballot boxes and load up the unmarked midnight vans.

As PervOTUS urged the other day, "Count the votes...count the votes...count the votes..."

#6 Maybe taxpayers money shouldn't be used for education if they don't have a say in what is taught and how the schools are run.

#7 None of this would be happening if schools were actually teaching the kids to read, write, and do a bit of arithmetic. Go look up the test results for your nearest big city school system. The number of students performing at grade-level is astonishingly low.

In Detroit, it was not uncommon for parents to send their kids to the local Catholic school if they could afford it. Now, charter schools are a thing, loved by parents and reviled by the education establishment.

#8 At every level, the "education establishment" is top-heavy with administrators and bureaucrats. Teachers are an afterthought. They all know it and aspire to move into the admin ranks themselves, so the march to whatever orders are given, no matter how absurd.

#9 So much for the doctrine of "in loco parentis."

#10 So far the Dems have lost every fight with the parents where the Dems have thought that parents are not clients of public schools. Keep digging Dems while you have a losing issue (sarc on).
