#1 You've got a Pakistainer as a Mayor, what else do you expect ? If for diversity's sake you had an Indian as a mayor, there'd be singing and dancing and a lot of holidays. But you've got a muslim Paki, so you have hostility and stabbings and rape of minors. How hard can it be to understand ?

#2 Let's look on the bright side, people. Gun deaths are way down. That has to count for something, however meaningless, right?

An analytical nerd might wonder if there were some motivation, something beyond the mere physical presence of an object that was causing people to murder their fellow citizens. If this were true, then murder weapons are, in a sense, fungible and getting rid of one category only leads people on to the next available substitute.
