BREAKING: Pelosi Asks House Judiciary Committee to Proceed with Articles of Impeachment

#3  She still has an out - if the impeachment vote fails in the house and just never gets to the senate. She can certainly rig it that way.
She benefits with the AOC lunatics for trying and won't have to worry about blue dogs in the upcoming election losing their seats to R's.
Who knows.

#6  This does surprise me. Nancy didn't get to where she is without having very good political instincts. But from everything I've read, impeachment is such a loser that it is hard to fathom what she's thinking of.

#9  Yeah, if the vote fails by a vote or two, we'll all see Pelosi's 'invisible hand' at work.

But AOC and her ilk will not go quietly.

#10  She's in a big frickin' hurry too. They'll have to pass those articles of impeachment before they can read them...and then it'll be too late.

#12  CF, that's why I hope that, if the Dems are stupid enough to actually impeach, then they do it quickly. That way, the Senate can get the trial over with quickly - essentially move do a directed verdict of acquittal.

#16  I like to play chess on the computer. It's very difficult to beat the computer but on those occasions when I get ahead, it'll sacrifice key pieces like rooks or even the queen just to delay the impending checkmate. I'm guessing the theory is that I might make a mistake (which has been known to happen) and then it'll still be able to win. Kinda seems like what Nancy's doing, sacrificing her own credibility and risking a crushing defeat for her party next November in a desperate attempt to distract from Democrat crimes and delay the impending justice.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced on Wednesday that an investigation by his office has uncovered hundreds of illegally registered non-citizen voters, 77 of whom cast ballots in the November 2018 election.

In a letter to Attorney Dave Yost on December 4, LaRose, a Republican, explained, "As a result of our review, my office has identified 277 individuals who registered to vote in Ohio and 77 individuals who cast a ballot in an Ohio election and who appear to be legally present, noncitizens."

People smuggler 'built fake Russia-Finland border posts'
[BBC] A man has been arrested in Russia for erecting fake border posts to trick four migrant workers into thinking they had entered Finland.

After reaching the posts, the man left the group to wander alone in what they believed was the EU country - but was actually a swampy forest in Vyborg.

After a while the four South Asian men were stopped by real border guards, who told them they were still in Russia.

The "smuggler" had reportedly made them pay over €10,000 ($11,000) each.

All five men were reportedly detained on 28 November.

The fake smuggler is facing the more serious charge of fraud. He has been detained, pending trial.

Officials did not specify which country the men were originally from.

Footage posted on Russian social media appears to show the men being arrested. They are seen standing in the darkness among fir trees, holding their hands up as FSB border agents shine torches on them.

Pirates kidnap 19 crew members of Greek tanker off Nigeria
[France24] Pirates have kidnapped 19 crew members from a crude oil tanker off Nigeria, an official with the ship’s operator said on Thursday.

The loaded vessel was attacked 77 nautical miles off Bonny island late on Dec. 3 and the crew - 18 Indians and one Turk - were seized, the official said.

Another seven crew members remain on board the vessel. Neither the vessel nor the cargo were damaged, the official said.

The Hong Kong-flagged supertanker Nave Constellation, capable of carrying up to 2 million barrels of oil, is operated by Greek shipping company Navios Tankers Management.

"We are doing everything necessary to make sure that the 19 crew members will return safe," the official at Navios said, adding that their families have been informed.

The shipping industry has warned in recent months about the increasing dangers faced by seafarers sailing through West Africa, particularly around Nigeria, with a greater focus on kidnappings by pirate gangs.

Marine arrested for alleged human smuggling after Chinese woman found in car trunk
[FOX] A Marine stationed in Southern California was arrested Monday on suspicion of attempting to smuggle two Chinese women in the trunk of a car across the U.S.-Mexico border.

The unidentified junior-enlisted Marine was taken into custody at the San Ysidro port of entry near San Diego around 1:30 p.m., Marine spokesman Lt. Cameron Edinburgh said in a statement to Fox News.

The 20-year-old is assigned to the 1st Marine Division’s headquarters battalion at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Customs officials found the two women in the trunk of a 2007 Ford Mustang when the Marine was pulled aside for additional screening. Customs and Border Patrol officials are investigating the incident.

"The Marine is currently being held in civilian custody.," Edinburgh said."The determination as to the adjudicating authority has not yet been made."

The Marine is expected to face federal charges, a CBP spokesperson said.

Edinburgh said the Marine has not served in the Southwest Border Support Mission, where U.S. troops are assisting border agents on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Monday's arrest comes as several other Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton are facing human trafficking charges. Six out of two dozen Marines recently pled guilty to human trafficking and drug charges at military court-martials.

Tex-Mex judge temporarily blocks construction of private border wall
[CNN] A Texas judge has temporarily halted the construction of a private wall along the US-Mexico border, delivering a blow to the group that has ardently supported the President Donald Trump's push for additional border barriers.

We Build the Wall, a group founded by an Air Force veteran, kicked off new construction on the Texas border last month in an attempt to showcase its barrier designs and shore up support for Trump's signature issue.

The National Butterfly Center, a 100-acre wild butterfly habitat near the project's location, argued the new construction was "illegal," and asked the court to intervene.

On Tuesday, State District Judge Keno Vasquez, of Hidalgo County, issued a temporary restraining order, halting construction of the wall for the time being.

In the order, Vasquez ruled the National Butterfly Center could face "imminent and irreparable harm" if construction were to proceed.

Javier Peña, a lawyer for the center, said the center felt compelled to take legal action because of the "hateful rhetoric" used by We Build the Wall and the destruction the barriers could cause.

We Build the Wall and the center have been at odds since the group arrived in the region. Brian Kolfage, the founder of We Build the Wall, has posted videos on Twitter calling out the center.

When asked about the order, Kolfage told CNN Tuesday, "More fake news. We haven't heard anything. We have not been served."

Europe
Stockholm: Elderly Residents Kicked Out of Apartments to Make Way For Migrants
[Summit News] Dozens of elderly residents were forced to leave their apartments in an area of Stockholm after the block was closed, only to be re-opened again for migrants to replace them.

Residents at Dianagården were told they would have to leave because the toilets in the facility were 5cm too small to comply with regulations.

However, soon after the 48 apartments were emptied, they were filled with newly arrived migrants.

"It was later revealed that politicians planned that immigrants would instead move into the premises," reports Fria Tider.

In 2015, Sweden accepted more refugees per capita than any other country, and despite worsening problems with sexual assaults, grenade attacks and violent crime, the inflow shows no sign of being seriously restricted.

A recent opinion poll found that the anti-mass migration Sweden Democrats are now the most popular party in Sweden. The Sweden Democrats would get 24.2% of the votes if an election was held today, beating the ruling Social Democrats.

Back in October, Leif Östling, former CEO of trucking company Scania, warned that Sweden is heading towards civil war due to uncontrolled mass immigration.

"We’ve taken in far too many people from outside. And we have. Those who come from the Middle East and Africa live in a society that we left almost a hundred years ago," he said.

Have the GOP Lights Gone Out in Georgia?
As Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., and ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, valiantly defends President Trump against the deep state coup trying to unseat this duly elected President of the United States, the mind ponders the now lost possibility of a Sen. Collins from Georgia defending President Trump and being an impeachment juror in any Senate trial. Instead we are getting a big business donor whom we are assured has all the boxes checked and an "R" next to their name. You know, someone like a Mitt Romney or a Jeff Flake.

With Collins we would have been assured of a passionate conservative loyal to the Trump vision of draining the swamp. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, whom President Trump campaigned for and helped to victory over Stacey Abrams in a contested election, has paid back Trump with the appointment of Kelly Loeffler, not Collins as Trump preferred, to fill the seat of Sen. Johnny Issakson, who is leaving the Senate for medical reasons:

n August 2018 Intercontinental Exchange announced it was forming the new company Bakkt,[43] which is intended to leverage Microsoft online servers to manage digital assets. Bakkt was said to be working with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Microsoft, Starbucks, and others to create a software platform. The Bakkt ecosystem is expected to include federally regulated markets and warehousing along with merchant and consumer applications. Its first use cases will be for trading and conversion of Bitcoin (BTC) versus fiat currencies. Kelly Loeffler is Bakkt's CEO.

Is Pakistan military building base for air-dropped nuclear bombs? What satellite images show
[Theprint.in] Satellite images show construction work on a site close to two military bases; significant expansion also on at a nuclear storage site in Sindh.

When the Taliban was creeping closer to Islamabad in 2008-2009, Pakistan’s security dilemma was compounded by the discussion in the United States of a “Plan B” – to seize control of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons should the US deem fit. The Indian intelligence community was rife with stories of how the Pakistanis had started shifting their nuclear strike assets – from the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) to Sindh and Balochistan. Today, satellite images more or less confirm it.

Satellite imagery provided by Shadowbreak & detected by @detresfa reveals significant expansion of two high-security bases. One is Samungli, on the outskirts of Quetta in Balochistan; and the other is Manjhand, a few kilometres outside Hyderabad in Sindh. There is significant evidence to show that these are also storage sites for Pakistani nuclear weapons.

Male Transjacking Will Ultimately End Women's Sports
[Federalist] This Friday, the top four NCAA Division III women’s soccer teams face off in the national semifinals. One of the final four teams’ goalkeepers, Isa Berardo, is a male transgender playing as a female for Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.

Not surprisingly, the male goalie has dominated the field against opposing female players, giving his own a chance to win the national championship thanks to his physical advantages in a key position. This is increasingly happening throughout women’s sports, at all levels from elementary school through professional competitions. It’s creating not equality, but inequality.

In 2016, Therese Johaug, a Norwegian three-time Olympic cross-country skiing champion, received an 18-month suspension from the sport she loved after it was discovered that the team-approved lip balm she was using to treat her badly sunburned lips contained a performance-enhancing steroid.

A devastated Johaug lamented, "I feel I did everything right. I went to an expert who gave me the ointment, and I asked him if the cream was on a doping list. The answer I got was ’no.’"

But the powers that be were undeterred from their well-established hard line of fairness, and Johaug was forced to watch the 2018 winter Olympics from the sidelines.

It’s an unfortunate set of circumstances that raises the question: If chemicals from a necessary, medicated lip balm can be construed as such an unjust physical advantage, how on Earth can athletic authorities continue to turn a blind eye to the litany of physical advantages the transgender men increasingly competing in women’s sports so obviously possess in their male bodies?

#9  How To Scam Your Way Into Harvard (without really trying)

From the above linked puff piece about Da Chick-widda-dick who's smashing all the girls' HS sprint records in CT:
Andraya takes a seat at the front of Askwith Hall at Harvard University. She's been invited to speak on a November panel called "The Intersection of Gender Identity, Race and Student Support."

She sits next to her mother onstage. She feels a little nervous but less than she has in the past. Once, she spoke at Wesleyan and was so nervous taking the stage in front of 100 students that she forgot to introduce herself.

This time, at Harvard, she feels more confident. Excited. Being at a university causes her mind to drift toward the future. She is receiving some recruiting interest from Harvard's track coaches, in addition to those at UConn, Springfield College and West Point. "They want me," she says. "They want me on their track team."

Fair enough: Harvard's become a joke.
But West Point?

Wanted Indian guru resurfaces to announce new 'cosmic' country
[Aljazeera] An Indian guru facing rape and sexual abuse charges has made headlines after he emerged from hiding and announced the birth of a new cosmic country with its own cabinet and golden passports.
California ?
Swami Nithyananda, a controversial self-styled "godman" with thousands of followers in southern India's Karnataka and Tamil Nadu states, posted a video on his YouTube channel on Wednesday announcing the special project to his followers.

The 41-year-old guru announced that his country is called Kailaasa and is the biggest Hindu nation without boundaries.

"The Hindu nation exists in cosmos," he said in the now-viral video.

Local media reports cited a website allegedly created by the guru with details about his plans for Kailaasa, even as the police and other authorities investigating him for various criminal charges still do not know his whereabouts.

The website shares details of different government departments and agencies in his "country", including homeland security, commerce, treasury, housing, technology and one for enlightened civilisation.

UN says 58 Afri-Colonizers tango uniform as boat capsizes off Mauritania
DAKAR, Senegal (AP) ‐ At least 58 people are dead after a boat carrying dozens of migrants capsized in the Atlantic Ocean off the West African nation of Mauritania, the U.N. migration agency said Wednesday. It said 83 people swam to shore.

It was one of the deadliest disasters this year among migrants trying to make the perilous journey to Europe.

The boat carrying at least 150 people had been low on fuel while approaching Mauritania, the International Organization for Migration said in a statement. Survivors were being helped by Mauritanian authorities in the northern city of Nouadhibou, the U.N. agency said.

GM, LG Chem to announce EV battery joint venture in Ohio - sources
SEOUL/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - General Motors (GM.N) and South Korea’s LG Chem (051910.KS) are set to announce on Thursday a 50:50 joint venture in Ohio to make electric vehicle batteries, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The facility, expected to be located in the Lordstown area, will see investment of more than $2 billion with GM and LG Chem expected to invest more than $1 billion each, one of the sources said. The venture is likely to be signed on Thursday, the sources said.

A GM spokeswoman declined to comment on a venture with LG.

"Talks occur on a regular basis in the auto industry between a variety of partners on different topics, but as a matter of policy we don’t discuss who, where or when those discussions might occur," she said.

House Hears Testimony From Renowned, Unbiased Legal Scholar Hillga Clintonheimer
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.‐In an effort to prove that impeachment is constitutionally sound and definitely not a politically motivated circus performance, Rep. Jerrold Nadler called on his final witness of the day: renowned legal scholar Hillga Clintonheimmer.

Dr. Clintonheimmer teaches at Lund University in Sweden. The legal scholar was flown out by the Judiciary Committee to give her expert testimony this morning as impeachment hearings resumed.

"This Donald Trump of yours, yah, he is very corrupt, yah, and you should impeach him, yah?" she began, drawing applause from the Democrats on the panel. "He is, how you Americans say, very bad man, ya?"

"I think we've heard enough. It's clear from the testimony of this legal expert that we should impeach. All in favor?" Nadler said. But just then, Clintonheimmer stood up to go, and her vaguely European-looking scarf fell from her head, revealing that the woman was actually Hillary Clinton in disguise.

"You'll never take me alive!" she cried, pulling a revolver from her purse and pointing it frantically out of the room as she backed away slowly. She broke into a run and dove into a waiting SUV, which narrowly escaped congressional security staff.

Clinton previously found herself in hot water after posing as White House janitor Hillarita Clintonez.

DOJ watchdog finds FBI omitted details about Steele dossier in FISA renewal applications
[Washington Examiner] The Justice Department watchdog found omissions in renewal applications the FBI submitted to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court seeking warrants to monitor onetime Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

A draft of Inspector General Michael Horowitz's report, due out next week, shows the FBI failed to convey to the court that not all of the information it used from British ex-spy Christopher Steele was entirely reliable, according to the Washington Post.

Steele was an FBI informant enlisted to research then-presidential candidate Donald Trump by Fusion GPS, an opposition research firm that had been hired by the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's campaign. Steele's Democratic funding, his strong desire for Trump to lose, and the possible flaws with his dossier were not revealed to the court governed by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

His dossier on alleged ties between Trump and Russia was used by the FBI to obtain the authority to wiretap Page, an American who had suspicious connections to the Russians. The first warrant application was submitted in October 2016, after which there were three renewals at three-month intervals, including ones in January, April, and June 2017. Page was never charged with wrongdoing, and special counsel Robert Mueller determined in his investigation there was insufficient evidence to establish criminal conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia.

FBI agents interviewed one of Steele's subsources and found that Steele's raw intelligence, in need of further verification, was not completely reliable. Horowitz's investigators found the FBI failed to convey this information in the later applications, but according to sources familiar with a draft of the report, the omissions were "apparently" not sufficient enough for the watchdog to conclude the applications should have been rejected.

#1  False evidence:

False evidence, fabricated evidence, forged evidence or tainted evidence is information created or obtained illegally, to sway the verdict in a court case. Falsified evidence could be created by either side in a case (including the police/prosecution in a criminal case), or by someone sympathetic to either side. Misleading by suppressing evidence can also be considered a form of false evidence (by omission), however, in some cases, suppressed evidence is excluded because it cannot be proved the accused was aware of the items found or of their location.

FA employed by Delta since 1962, is suing the airline over age discrimination
[MAIL] A 79-year-old air hostess employed by Delta since 1962 is suing the airline after she was fired over a missing carton of milk.

In an exclusive interview with DailyMailTV, Ida Gomez Llanos claims she was the victim of a smear campaign by colleagues envious of her salary and perks, encouraged by managers who wanted to replace her with cheaper, younger staff.

After receiving annual pay rises over her 57-year career, Llanos was earning around $250,000 when she was fired - more than four times the average flight attendant salary of $56,000, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Huntington Beach-based flight attendant filed her lawsuit against Delta Airlines this month in a Los Angeles court, claiming she was ’harassed’, ’bullied’ by colleagues ‐ and that instead of protecting her, bosses wrote her up and eventually fired her.

The 79-year-old told DailyMailTV that after 57 years working for the company, which saw her rise to become the number one flight attendant in LA and rank fifth in the country, her bosses dismissed her for taking a carton of milk off a plane after her line manager gave her permission.

’I couldn’t believe it,’ Llanos said. ’I’ve been accused of so many things and none were true.

’I try not to take it personally, but when you get mean about me and start lying, that is a problem.’

Governmental Subversion: Will America Go the Way of the Banana Republic?
[American Thinker] Who would have ever thought the United States could lose its way and find itself on a slippery slope to becoming a banana republic in which political power is typically determined by coups rather than elections? But it appears that many in the Democrat Party are willing to go down this road and risk the nation’s continuity and stability in a desperate effort to regain power and control.

Since there is simply no greater crime against the United States, its Constitution and its people than subverting the government that is duly elected by the people, Americans need to clearly remind Washington that the legitimacy of our government comes exclusively from the people.

Think about it... why should Democrats in Congress be ignoring their legislative responsibilities, and wasting their time and the nation’s scarce resources with impeachment proceedings less than a year away from the next presidential election on November 3, 2020? And why would Democrats think impeachment a wise course to follow, particularly after putting the country through nearly two years of the Mueller investigation -- which proved to be a hoax?

What many are now realizing is that Democrat Party leadership has lost its bearings by surrendering control to the extreme left -- an amalgam of pro-Islamic and Marxist views as represented by the so-called "squad." The impeachment effort is not just an attack against Donald Trump; it’s also meant to dishearten and disenfranchise nearly half the country who voted for him.

The American Republic established by the Constitution provided for a more stable system of government based on honoring the results of scheduled elections than the parliamentary form of democracy, where politics and a no-confidence vote could bring a government down and require a new one to be formed on an unscheduled basis. Relative political stability and continuity of the American Republic has been the chief contributing factor to the nation’s civility, as well as its meteoric economic rise over the last 240 years.

#1  Hmm...no its no longer a republic. When you have one whole branch of government sit for life and unaccountable to the people which has constantly assumed more and more power and purview over the daily experience of normal Americans while ignoring the written text of the Constitution, it can not be a republic. The Democrats' Massive Impeachment Fail
It's Kurt
Well, the gibbering, babbling left wanted an impeachment, and now they’re getting it good and hard. To the surprise of no one who isn’t a blue city pol, a media hack, or an insufferable Fredocon sissy, the American people are not particularly impressed by the genius idea of replacing our president a year before an election because he allegedly expressed curiosity about why the coke-sniffing, stripper-impregnating, dead brother’s wife-trifling, Navy-rejected loser son of Vice President Gropey O’Definitelynotsenile scored a $50K+ a month gig on a Ukrainian gas board. And it’s just dawning on some of them they maybe this impeachment brainstorm was not the bestest idea there ever was.

They think the optics of the Schiff hearings were great. They weren’t great. Yeah, let’s get a bunch of Deep State suits to come in and explain how the guy we elected to shake up the foreign policy elite’s decades of utter failure is bad because he is shaking up the foreign policy elite’s decades of utter failure. And then you have That’s Lieutenant Colonel Bratwurst ‐ if you’ve been in uniform, you know there’s one of those guys in every unit, and the wise commander has him off inventorying combat boots at the CIF, where he can’t provoke the troops to hang him by his skivvies from the flag pole out in front of Division HQ. You look at this parade of smug, over-credentialed bureaucrats with delusions of competence and a track record of screw-ups and, to cite the popular meme, you realize that Trump was elected to fire people like them.

Maybe you hear it in the Beltway, but you don’t hear normal people out in America demanding, "Let these people rule over us unimpeded by our electoral choices!" After all, these are the same people who think your kid ought to die defending the Turkish-Syrian border but tell you it’s a crime against humanity to defend our own border with Cartelistan.

...Let’s leave aside the fact that simple math makes this entire exercise as futile as a Weekly Standard writer staffer’s Valentine’s Day. Their eventual humiliation is assured in the Senate unless and until they get 20 Republicans to commit ritual suicide over Trump pointing out the manifest corruption of Touchy J and Lil’ Crackpipe.

And they aren’t getting 20 GOP votes in the Senate. Igloo Maverick Lisa Murkowski, maybe, but they probably won’t even get Mitt Romney. At the end of the day, he’ll submit. He wet himself when Candy Crowley rebuked him. Do you think he’d dare stand up to the Murder Turtle?

...This is going to end badly, hilariously badly, and everyone seems to know it except the Democratic leaders like Schiff and now the Nadd, who are driving full speed into the brick wall (Pelosi knows, which is why she’s right behind them, every step of the way). It’s like the proverbial dog who chases the car and then wonders what to do when he finally catches it ‐ just before the car backs up and runs him over.

Dem Presidential Andrew Yang on Impeachment: ‘This Is Going to Be a Loser'
[Free Beacon] Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang on Wednesday said attacks on President Donald Trump have been ineffective and may ultimately increase his reelection chances.

"It seems like all we can do is throw ineffective rocks at Donald Trump, and then it ends up leading unfortunately toward his reelection," Yang said during an interview on Rolling Stone’s podcast "Useful Idiots."

As the impeachment inquiry continues in the House of Representatives, Yang has staked out a different position from many in his party.

"I’m pro-impeachment, but this is going to be a loser," Yang said.

"You need literally dozens of Republican senators to switch sides when the trial starts, which we’ve gotten zero indication is going to happen," he said.

Yang argued the media's focus on Trump only helps the president and that Democrats are wasting time when they should be focused on "creating a positive vision" that will excite Americans.

"If all that happens is all of the Democrats are talking about impeachment that fails, then it seems like there is no vision," Yang said.

Algeria opens first corruption trial for ex-PMs, tycoons
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The corruption trial for two former Algerian prime ministers, prominent politicians, and automotive industry tycoons started Wednesday in Algiers, with defense lawyers boycotting the proceedings.

The trial is the first resulting from sweeping investigations into graft allegations launched after the resignation of former president Abdelaziz Bouteflika
...10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and served on his third or four terms. When he announced for the fifth, or maybe it was the sixth, visibly doddering, a grateful nation rose up in its wrath and threw him out...
in the face of mass protests in April.

The accused face charges ranging from money laundering to abuse of office and granting undue privileges in the vehicle assembly industry.

The trial had been adjourned on Monday and the defense vowed to boycott further hearings, criticizing the case as "politicized" and marred by a climate of "settling accounts."

Lawyer Mohammed Madjdoub, speaking on behalf of the defense, told the judge that "conditions... do not allow for lawyers to accomplish their mission and therefore, I inform you that the defense has decided to boycott the trial."

The judge asked the lawyers to leave the small, crowded courtroom and said the proceedings would continue.

The nascent Algerian automotive sector got its start in 2014, via partnerships between foreign groups and large Algerian corporations, often owned by businessmen linked to Bouteflika’s entourage.

Two former prime ministers who served under Bouteflika appeared as defendants on Wednesday: Ahmed Ouyahia, an unpopular four-time former government head, and Abdelmalik Sellal, who was premier from 2014 to 2017.

It is the first time since Algeria’s independence from La Belle France in 1962 that former prime ministers have been put on trial.

The two men argued that the court was not competent to try them, the constitution stipulating that crimes and infractions committed by prime ministers while in office fell under a "High Court of State."

But the organic law to establish this court was not passed and the prosecutor responded that they had to answer for their actions before the ordinary court.

Called first to the stand, Ouyahia was accused of "misappropriation of public funds, abuse of office, granting undue privileges, conflict of interest, corruption, money laundering, and false statements."

He was charged with favoring certain manufacturers in the automotive sector ‐ even if they did not fulfill brief specifications ‐ to the detriment of competitors.

"There is no misappropriation (of public funds) and the choice... was based on the market. These manufacturers were already present and we wanted to keep them", the former prime minister said in his defense.

Former ministers Bedda Mahdjoub (industry and mines), Youcef Yousfi, who succeeded him in the post, and Abdelghani Zaalane (public works and transport) are other defendants in the case.

Also standing trial was Ali Haddad, former head of the main Algerian employer organization, the Forum of Business Leaders (FCE).

The 54-year-old businessman is also the founder and CEO of private construction firm ETRHB.

Among the other businessmen being tried is former FCE vice president Mohammed Bairi, CEO of the Ival group, which owns industrial vehicle plant Iveco.

Ahmed Mazouz, president of the eponymous group that assembles and distributes Chinese-brand vehicles in Algeria, and Hassane Arbaoui, head of Global Group which runs an Algerian factory for South Korean company Kia, are also defendants.

Britain
UK Liberal Democrats could back Labour to force second Brexit vote
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The leader of Britannia’s pro-Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Liberal Democrats has suggested she could work with the opposition Labour party to stop Brexit if it removed its leader in the event of a hung parliament after next week’s election.

Jo Swinson repeated her pledge not to put either the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn or Prime Minister Boris Johnson
...pro-Brexit British prime minister, succeeding no-Brexit Theresa May. BoJo is noted as much for his sparkling personality and his hair as for his Conservative policies....
into power if neither wins a majority in parliament.

"I will vote for legislation to pass a people’s vote, of course I will, and I would have done that under the previous Conservative government, just as I would do under any other government," she told the BBC, referring to a second referendum on membership of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
(EU) proposed by Labour.

Asked if she would support Labour in an effort to stop Britannia leaving the EU if there was a hung parliament, she said she would, provided that Corbyn was no longer its leader.

"I have said that Liberal Democrat votes won’t put Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn into Number 10," she said.

"Liberal Democrats will work to stop Brexit, we will support legislation that puts in place a people’s vote and we will work across parties."

She also pledged not to resign if her party loses seats in the election.

The Liberal Democrats, who cast themselves as the only ’Stop Brexit’ party, trail the Conservatives and Labour in opinion polls and are expected to fall a long way short of winning the election outright. But they could have an important role if neither the Conservatives nor Labour win a majority and have to find a partner in order to form a government.

"To be clear, the reporting is wrong. The U.S. is not considering sending 14,000 additional troops to the Middle East," spokeswoman Alyssa Farah tweeted.

In October Defense Secretary Mark Esper announced that two fighter squadrons and additional missile defense batteries were being sent to Saudi Arabia, for a total of about 3,000 new troops.

AG Barr Disagrees with IG on Whether Trump Surveillance Justified
[BREITBART] Attorney General William Barr reportedly disagrees with a finding by the forthcoming Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General (IG) report that the FBI had sufficient reason to monitor the Trump campaign in 2016.

The FBI conducted surveillance on Trump campaign associates, including foreign policy aide Carter Page, on the basis of suspicions that the campaign might have been colluding with Russia to interfere with the 2016 election.

No evidence of collusion was ever found, though the surveillance continued well after the election, and the fact that the FBI was investigating the Trump campaign over Russia was leaked to Democrats and to the mainstream media.

The IG report is expected to criticize the FBI for the way in which it approached the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court to obtain a warrant for that surveillance. The FBI partly relied upon the so-called "dossier" prepared by former British spy Remington Christopher Steele for Fusion GPS, an opposition research company being paid by the Crooked Hillary Clinton
...former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Republicans have claimed that the FBI failed to corroborate the unproven allegations in the dossier, and hid its political origins from the FISA court.

But there have been conflicting leaks about what the report, which is set to be released next Monday, will say about misconduct at the FBI. Several individuals have already seen drafts of the report, as they are mentioned in it.

The Washington Post reported Monday evening that IG Michael Horowitz, an B.O. regime appointee, had concluded that there was, in fact, sufficient evidence to justify what Barr earlier called "spying" on the campaign.

Barr reportedly disagreed, though a spokesperson for the DOJ dismissed reports of a dispute between Barr and Horowitz: "Rather than speculating, people should read the report for themselves next week," she said.

Authorities spoke with the mother, Maria Domingo Perez (right), who first gave a conflicting statement to police but eventually told officers that she gave her baby to a man and a woman, a news release said.

Authorities spoke with the mother, Maria Domingo Perez, who first gave a conflicting statement to police but eventually told officers she gave her baby to a man and a woman, according to a blurb.

Bowling Green Police said Pascual Jose Manuel and Catarina Felipe Jose told detectives that they gave Domingo Perez $2,000 for the baby.

Social services has taken custody of the baby and Domingo Perez’s four other children, the blurb said.

White House, Trump family slam impeachment witness for 'classless' Barron Trump reference
[WASHINGTONTIMES] The White House Wednesday slammed a constitutional scholar for referencing 13-year-old Barron Trump during the House Judiciary Committee’s impeachment hearing.

Pamela Karlan, a Stanford law professor, was asked how the powers of a president differ from that of a British king.

Ms. Karlan said kings had virtually unlimited authority while the Constitution limits presidential powers. To illustrate her point, she referenced President Trump’s son, Barron.

"The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron," Ms. Karlan said to laughter and applause in the hearing room.

But the White House wasn’t amused. The Trump campaign questioned why the president’s son was fodder for the hearing, but not Hunter Biden. President Trump pressing the Ukraine president to probe Hunter Biden’s ties to a Ukrainian gas company has been at the center of the impeachment inquiry.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham also criticized the comment.

"Classless move by a Democratic ’witness," she said via Twitter. Prof Karlan uses a teenage boy who has nothing to do with this joke of a hearing (and deserves privacy) as a punchline. And what’s worse, it’s met by laughter in the hearing room. What is being done to this country is no laughing matter."

Later in the hearing, Rep. Matt Gaetz scolded Ms. Karlan for her comment.

"When you make a little joke about the president’s 13-year-old son, it does not make you look credible, it makes you look mean," the Florida Republican said.

She maybe a lawyer but she is historically ignorant.
Charles I literally lost his head over his transgression of separation of powers. Parliament said they could only levy and raise taxes. Charles disagreed. The resultant civil war still lives with us today in so many way and its consequences were woven into our Constitution because it was written by former British subjects.

Further, this little comment was obviously rehearsed and set up by this little softball:

It all started in response to a question from Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. “So, kings could do no wrong because the king's word was law. And contrary to what President Trump has said, Article 2 does not have--give him the power to do anything he wants,” she said.

Egypt proposes 5-year ceasefire between Hamas and Israel - report
[Jpost] Sources in the Arabic media claim efforts are being made to persuade Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, and the PIJ to accept a long-term ceasefire proposal that is planned last for five years.
A hudna may last no longer than ten years, but war must be resumed as soon as the Lions of Islam are rested and re-equipped, and therefore able to fight effectively.
Senior officials from the al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, and the Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
, are taking part in Egypt's strategic talks, which included offers of a five-year ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Paleostinian newspaper al-Quds reported on Wednesday.

Sources in the Arabic media said that military officials were part of a Hamas and Islamic Jihad delegation that took part in a meeting in Cairo yesterday to discuss new coordination plans following the latest round of fighting.

According to those same sources, efforts are being made to persuade the parties to accept a long-term ceasefire proposal that will last for five years. The sources pointed to international pressure exerted on the heads of the organizations to restore stability and reach a deal.

A source close to Hamas noted that the organization had not been updated on the "artificial island" project by mediators. However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
he did not deny that proposals were made regarding infrastructure-related projects in the Strip.

In late October, the London-based al-Arab al-Jadeed newspaper reported on the understandings that allowed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Islamic Jihad, after four hours of negotiations. The Islamic Jihad leadership agreed to the final version in which Egypt offered that Israel agree to three demands - halting live fire towards young people participating in the march of return, halting liquidations and assassinations and receiving a commitment from Israel to end the blockade and uphold the terms of the ceasefire.

Will The FISA Report Address Whether Christopher Steele Lied To The FBI
[DAILYCALLER] One of the mysteries looming over the FBI’s Trump-Russia investigation is whether dossier author Remington Christopher Steele lied to the bureau regarding his contacts with journalists.

Two GOP senators, Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham
...soft-spoken senator from South Carolina, former best buddy of John Maverick McCain. Since McCain's demise, Graham has become more outspoken, more Republican and more of a supporter of President Trump. The speech he gave in support of Brett Kavanaugh was downright manly and really cheesed off the Dems...
, referred Steele for investigation in January 2018, but there have been no updates about the status of the probe.

That could change Monday when the Justice Department’s inspector general releases a report that will detail the FBI’s relationship with Steele.

Somaliland is on a rocky political path
[DW] The relative stability Somaliland has seen for years is now at risk of coming undone. What ought to have been the first parliamentary elections in this autonomous region of Somalia since 2005 have been put off once more.

The postponement of a vote set for mid-December to 2022 and increasing crackdowns on free speech pose a risk to Somaliland, an internationally endorsed autonomous region of Somalia that straddles the borders of Æthiopia and Djibouti.

Some analysts see Somaliland as East Africa's strongest democracy, located at a strategic intersection and key to the development of the Horn of Africa .

Robocalls on the rise: Americans get 18 spam calls per month, report says
[USATODAY] The United States is again the eighth-most-spammed nation in the world and the annoying calls are on the rise, according to a new report.

Americans received 7% more spam calls in 2019 compared to the year before, said Truecaller, a Swedish company that tracks spam calls, but hung on to their ranking from the last annual report.

The report Tuesday comes after efforts by the Federal Communications Commission to crackdown on robocalls, which are the No.1 complaint consumers make to the agency.

Truecaller found robocalls in the U.S. increased by 35% in the last year, despite the four major service providers offering tools to block unwanted calls and identify potential scams.

* He gave both Biden, 49, and Roberts, 28, just 10 days to come up with their financial details

* Roberts is demanding Biden pay child support for their 16-month-old child and at least $11k in her attorney fees

Hunter Biden will have to tell the judge in his paternity case exactly how many hundreds of thousands of dollars he made by controversially sitting on the board of an Ukrainian oil company, DailyMail.com can disclose.

And Lunden Roberts, the woman who claims the son of former vice-president Joe Biden is the father of her 16-month-old child will have to reveal how much she made in tips as a stripper at the Mpire Club in Washington, D.C., where the two met.

Originally Judge Don McSpadden, who is presiding over the court in Batesville, Arkansas, had only asked for three years' records.

But now he says he needs five years of records before making a decision on how much the former vice-president's son should pay to support his child.

On Tuesday, McSpadden sent out a blunt letter to attorneys in the case - including the one that Biden fired minutes before a hearing on Monday.

Dunlap and a man claiming to be a lawyer showed The Post about 90 seconds of 43-minute tape, saying it was legally obtained and that Ashley was aware she was being filmed. The Post refused to pay for the video.

The video, which the shooter initially hoped to sell for $2 million before scaling back his price to $400,000, shows a 20-something woman with light skin and long brown hair taking a red straw from her mouth, bending over a desk, inserting the straw into her nostril and snorting lines of white powder.

She then stands up and begins talking with other people in the room. A young man looks on from behind her, facing the camera. The lawyers said he was Ashley’s boyfriend of a few years.

The camera follows the woman from a few feet away, focusing on her as she moves around the room. It appears not to be concealed. At one point she shouts, “Shut the f— up!”

The woman appears to resemble Ashley Biden, 27, a social worker for a Delaware child-welfare agency and a visible presence during her father’s campaign for the White House.

Iraq
Hezbollah helping Iran's Soleimani find new Iraqi PM - report
[Jpost] The Lebanese Hezbollah terrorist group has joined Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps commander Qassem Soleimani
in negotiations to select Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi's replacement, according to the London-based newspaper Asharq al-Awsat.

"Soleimani is in Baghdad to push for a particular candidate to succeed Abdul Mahdi," said an informed Iraqi source to Agence La Belle France Press. Hezbollah official Mohammad Kawtharani, who is responsible for the terrorist group's Iraqi file, has joined Soleimani and "is also playing a large role in persuading Shi'ite and Sunni political forces in this," according to the source.

Kawtharani was sanctioned by the United States in August 2013 for working "on behalf of Hezbollah's leadership to promote the group's interests in Iraq, including Hezbollah efforts to provide training, funding, political, and logistical support to Iraqi Shi'a Death Eater groups," according to the US Department of Treasury's website. The Hezbollah official also helped recruit fighters for the Assad regime in Syria.

According to Al Arabiya, Soleimani came to Iraq last weekend as Abdul Mahdi tendered his resignation to the Iraqi parliament. The Quds Force commander also visited Baghdad in October to help advise the government on the crackdown on anti-government protests. During the October visit, Soleimani met with the militias of the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and told them to support Mahdi.

On Tuesday, the Iranian consulate in Najaf was torched for the third time. Iranian consulates in the cities of Karbala and Najaf have been torched and Iraqi flags have been raised over both during the protests, which began in October.

Mahdi's decision to resign was made after Shi'ite Moslem holy man Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani called for a change of leadership on Friday, according to Al Arabiya.

Sistani said attacks on peaceful protesters were "forbidden," but also urged demonstrators to reject violence. Protesters "must not allow peaceful demonstrations to be turned into attacks on property or people," he said.

Mahdi called on the government to "act in the interests of Iraq and preserve the blood of its people, and avoid slipping into a cycle of violence, chaos and devastation."

The Iraqi prime minister's resignation came exactly a month after Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri
...Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too....
announced his resignation in the face of anti-government protests that spread throughout Leb due to a troubled economy. In both countries, talks are ongoing about the formation of new governments.

In both Leb and Iraq, protesters spoke out against Iranian influence in their countries. In Leb, Hezbollah supporters have clashed multiple times with protesters and in Iraq protesters have claimed that Iranian forces and pro-Iranian militias have attacked demonstrators. On Thursday in the city of Najaf in Iraq, festivities between security forces and protesters broke out as protesters torched the Iranian consulate in the city.

Over 400 people have been killed in the protests that have spread throughout Iraq against the deterioration of living conditions and health services, government corruption, unemployment and Iranian interference in the country.

Probe into alleged crimes in Afghanistan begins at International Criminal Court at The Hague
[DAWN] The International Criminal Court (ICC) opened a three-day hearing on Wednesday at which prosecutors and victims aim to overturn a decision scrapping a proposed investigation into alleged crimes in Afghanistan's brutal conflict.

Fergal Gaynor, a lawyer representing 82 Afghani victims, called it a historic day for accountability in Afghanistan.

In April, judges rejected a request by the court's prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, to open an investigation into crimes allegedly committed by the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
, Afghan cops and American military and intelligence agencies.

In the ruling, which was condemned by victim's and right's groups, the judges said that an investigation "would not serve the interests of justice" because it would likely fail due to lack of cooperation.

The decision came a month after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo banned visas for ICC staff seeking to investigate allegations of war crimes and other abuses by US forces in Afghanistan or elsewhere.

Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda's request to open an investigation said there is information that members of the US military and intelligence agencies "committed acts of torture, cruel treatment, outrages upon personal dignity, rape and sexual violence against conflict-related detainees in Afghanistan and other locations, principally in the 2003-2004 period."

She also said that the Taliban and other bad boy groups have killed more than 17,000 civilians since 2009, including some 7,000 assassinations.

She alleged that Afghan cops have tortured prisoners at government detention centres.

Even as they rejected the request for an investigation, judges in April acknowledged that Bensoudas November 2017 request to open a probe established a reasonable basis to consider that crimes within the ICC jurisdiction have been committed in Afghanistan and that potential cases would be admissible before the court.

Stoning to death incident in Dadu yet to be verified, says DIG
...the alleged stoning to death of a 10-year-old girl [Gul Sama Rind] in the name of honour...
[DAWN] DADU: Hyderabad DIG Naeem Ahmed Shaikh on Tuesday said that an investigation into the alleged stoning to death of a 10-year-old girl [Gul Sama Rind] in the name of honour in the Wahi Pandhi area was under way and it was too early to say whether such an incident had actually taken place or not. The fact that could be known and confirmed so far was that the girl had died and was buried more than a week ago at the specified place, he said.
So it should be a simple matter of checking to see if she's buried under rocks.
The DIG was speaking at a press conference along with Hyderabad Commissioner Abbas Baloch and some senior police officers at Dadu SSP’s office after visiting the Wahi Pandhi police station and ascertaining details about the girl’s death from under custody cleric Maulvi Mumtaz Leghari, who had performed her funeral prayers, notables of the area and the people who had some information about the matter.
Did Maulvi Mumtaz perform the funeral prayers before or after she was dead?
While most of the people interviewed by the police officers expressed their unawareness about any jirga having been held to pass a death decree against the girl or even her stoning to death, some others appeared sure that no incident of stoning any girl to death in this area had occurred.

DIG Shaikh said that police had received information about the incident, having taken place in an area known as Shahi Makan, from the media. Such reports suggested that the girl was stoned to death under the decree of a jirga, he said. The senior police officer recalled that police took swift action by arresting Maulvi Leghari, and taking parents of the girl into custody for interrogation.

While continuing an investigation into the alleged honour killing, police requested the district and sessions judge of Dadu to allow exhumation of the body to ascertain cause of her death, he said, adding that at the same time, efforts were being made to verify the claim that she was stoned to death.
What kind of country is Pakistain that it can even be suspected that a 10-year-old was stoned to death?
In reply to a question, DIG Shaikh said fairness of the investigation was out of question as police could not let go the matter of stoning to death of any person if such an incident had actually taken place. He held out the assurance that the investigation would be absolutely transparent.
If it did take place, shoot every person over ten in the village.
“At this stage, it is too early to say about what actually happened to the girl because a post-mortem of the body has not been performed,” he said. Stressing on exhumation of the body to reach a conclusion, the DIG said it was going to take place on Wednesday and in the light of the chemical examination of the body afterwards, an investigation could be held in the right direction, if needed.

Earlier, a team of Dadu police headed by DSP Pir Bakhsh Chandio visited the specified place in Karo Kot village near Shahi Makan where the incident was reported to have taken place. Some police personnel were deployed at the girl’s grave to ensure that no one tried to destroy evidence. A special medical board has already been constituted by Hyderabad police surgeon Dr Bansidhar for the exhumation and post-mortem examination of the deceased girl.

The medical board is to exhume the body under the supervision of Johi’s judicial magistrate Agha Imran Pathan at 11am in Lali Lak graveyard.

PM: Israel ‘actively countering Iranian aggression’
[Jpost] Israel is working to stop Iranian belligerence throughout the Middle East, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday in Lisbon, at the start of his meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the Portuguese capital.

Netanyahu made the statement hours after Arab news outlets reported an explosion in an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) weapons depot at an airport near al-Bukamal on the Syria-Iraq border, but declined to answer questions on the matter.
“We’ve been fortunate that [US President Donald Trump] has a consistent policy of pressure against Iran,” Netanyahu said.

Pointing to Iranian activity in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Gaza and Yemen, Netanyahu said Israel is “actively engaged in countering that aggression.”

Pompeo made brief comments in support of protesters against Iran.

“I flew in from being with the president in London, where... one of the central topics was how to create stability in the Middle East, with anti-Iran protests in Baghdad, Beirut and Iran itself,” Pompeo said. "These are people seeking freedom and a reasonable way to live."
“We’ll do everything we can to create opportunity for these people who want freedom,” he stated.

Netanyahu told Pompeo: “You took the words out of my mouth. The Iranian empire is tottering; let’s make it totter further.”

The prime minister said he “excoriated” the six European countries “trying to sidestep the sanctions the US under President Trump placed. That’s the wrong thing.”

Netanyahu also said he will talk to Pompeo about “the ability to strengthen our mutual defenses even further,” a reference to a possible defense pact between the US and Israel.

He also expressed gratitude to Pompeo for his statement that the US no longer sees settlements as illegitimate.

“Advancing peace has to be based on truth, not lies,” he stated.

Though earlier in the day Netanyahu said he would discuss applying Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley in his meeting with Pompeo, the two refused to answer questions on the matter.

“It’s a very good place,” is all Netanyahu would say.

On the plane to Lisbon, Netanyahu said the US policy or pressure on Iran is successfully weakening the regime.

“Their economic resources are stressed. The economic problems are creating political problems,” he said.

Netanyahu said that Trump has taken his advice on his Iran policy and took credit for preventing the meeting between Trump and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani that French President Emmanuel Macron tried to organize.

The prime minister pointed to protests in Tehran, Beirut and Iraq as results of sanctions on Iran.

“There’s no reason to help [Iran],” Netanyahu said, referring to European countries trying to circumvent sanctions. “Instead, we should increase pressure.”

Netanyahu referred to a defense pact between Israel and the US with Pompeo on the flight.

“This is a great thing for Israel. I know there are disagreements... but I think it’s the right thing that will address what we need,” he stated.

Netanyahu plans to meet with Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa and Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva on Thursday.

While Netanyahu was in Portugal, the country became the 34th full member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, after the Luxembourg-based organization voted to upgrade it from observer status.

Climate derangement syndrome: Academic suggests UN use military to enforce climate agenda
[AMERICANTHINKER] What's the carbon footprint of a military invasion? And where's the army that the U.N. would use to invade a country that emits the CO2 that makes the world greener and greener?

This guy makes me even happier that I ditched academia after getting my Ph.D. and teaching at Harvard. Simon Kent reports for Breitbart:

The United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
may resort to military action against states that defy its mandates on global climate action, according to Ole Wæver, a prominent international relations professor at the University of Copenhagen.

In an interview with ABC News in Australia, Professor Wæver cautions that what he sees as "climate inaction" might draw the U.N. into considering other means to ensure its goals are met, even if that leads to global armed conflict.

The totalitarian impulse lurking behind the warmist agenda is clearly visible:

"If there was something that was decided internationally by some more centralised procedure and every country was told 'this is your emission target, it's not negotiable, we can actually take military measures if you don't fulfil it', then you would basically have to get that down the throat of your population, whether they like it or not," he says.

Global dictatorship, justified by a climate hoax. Does it get any more sinister?

France to create anti-hate crime office amid wave of anti-Semitism
[IsraelTimes] The French government is creating a national anti-hate crime office, following the discovery of anti-Semitic graffiti at a Jewish cemetery in eastern La Belle France.

Interior Minister Christophe Castaner makes the announcement today in the town of Westhoffen, where vandals scrawled swastikas and other anti-Semitic inscriptions on 107 tombs yesterday.

Speaking alongside Jewish leaders, Castaner condemns the graffiti as a sign that "hate is on our national territory."

"We must respect the right to believe," he says.

A special police unit has begun investigating the incident, Castaner says, and the new national office will seek to fight hate crimes.

The graffiti marked the latest in a string of anti-Semitic acts in the Bas-Rhin region. Anti-Semitic graffiti was also discovered yesterday in the eastern French village of Schaffhouse-sur-Zorn, authorities say.
One hopes the office will also address anti-Christian hate crimes, and do something about the population most engaged in it.

Finland PM resigns, but coalition expected to survive
[DAWN] Finnish Prime Minister Antti Rinne resigned on Tuesday after losing the support of the coalition partner Centre Party, though the governing alliance is expected to stay in power to avoid a snap election.

A Social Democrat who has headed the centre-left five-party government since June, Rinne handed his resignation to President Sauli Niinisto, who asked the government to stay on in a caretaker capacity until a new government has been appointed, the presidency said.

"All of the governing parties have confidence in me, except the Centre Party. When I was told why they no longer have confidence in me, I made the decision to resign," Rinne said.

The Centre Party was angered after the prime minister was accused of lying by the head of Finland Post ‐ the culmination of a long-running dispute over reforms to the pay and conditions for some postal workers.

Germany expels 2 Russian diplomats after killing islamic terrorist
[NBCNews] "Tornike K." was making his way to a terror hq mosque when he was shot twice in the head in Berlin's Tiergarten park shortly before midday Aug. 23, prosecutors said in a statement Wednesday.

There were "enough indications" that the killing was "either contracted by government offices of the Russian Federation or the autonomous Chechen republic as a part of the Russian Federation," spokesman Markus Schmitt said.

Prosecutors said Tornike K., who had previously fought alongside jihad anti-Moscow separatists in Chechnya, "was classified and sought by Russian authorities as a terrorist."

The Kremlin had accused the 40-year-old of being a member of a terror organisation called "Caucasian Emirate."
The Boston bombers were members, so thank you, Vadim.
The Tsarnaev boys? The Caucasian Emirate was first nominally attached to Al Qaeda, then to ISIS, when they called themselves Caucasus Province, but all the while the Russians were hunting them down. Those who made their way to the Syrian civil war via Turkey became known as good fighters, but their organizations frequently splintered, a good way to get killed. It looks like Russia is still hunting them.

Police said they arrested Vadim K., a 48-year-old Russian national, shortly after the murder. Prosecutors say facial recognition technology was used to track and identify him.
Deutsche Welle adds:
Zelimkhan Khangoshvili was an asylum-seeker of Chechen descent from Georgia who fought against the Russians as a separatist during the Second Chechen War from 1999 - 2009. He was also known by a second identity "Tornike K." which was the one used by German prosecutors. After the war, he reportedly worked in both Ukraine and Georgia against Russian interests.

He applied for asylum in Germany in 2016 following multiple attempts on his life in Georgia. His asylum application, however, was denied and he was slated for deportation. Khangoshvili's ex-wife, Manana Tsatieva, previously told DW: "We were warned that this would happen eventually."

A senior Russian lawmaker, Leonid Slutsky, said on Wednesday Germany should expect to have two of its diplomats expelled from Russia as a "symmetrical" measure.

However, as Mark Galeotti, a British historian and expert on Russian intelligence, pointed out in an interview with DW, "It personally suits the Russians that they are thought to be behind this."

"Part of the Russian calculus is to present themselves as being so unpredictable and dangerous that the West really needs to make a deal with Moscow," such as over Ukraine, Galeotti added.

#2  "Part of the Russian calculus is to present themselves as being so unpredictable and dangerous that the West really needs to make a deal with Moscow," such as over Ukraine, Galeotti added.

Ok, so the Russians are "unpredictable."
Two Q's:
1) Is the behavior of America's current POTUS "predictable"?
2) Has US policy toward Ukraine since the end of the Cold War been predictable, rational, sober, honest?

Re #2, consider that history. In 1991 our president told the Russian president, and soon thereafter harshly warned the new government of independent Ukraine, that Ukraine should not join NATO and should not pursue an independent foreign policy so as to avoid creating fears in Moscow of anti-Russian encirclement by the West and its proxies.

Then NATO was expanded to include not just Poland but also the Baltics and Romania. Hmmm. Didn't we tell the Russians otherwise?

Then US officials, most notoriously Victoria Nuland, openly involved themselves in Ukrainian political disputes, siding with a government and a movement which, however appealing to Western sympathies, was defined in part by its hostility to Russia.

At least the Soviets' behavior toward the anti-American new Cuban regime in 1960-61 wasn't "unpredictable."

Maybe it's time we looked in the mirror and set about creating an orderly, stable, consistent and intelligent policy toward Ukraine that does not threaten Russia in its back yard for no discernible benefit to anyone.

U.S. Warship Seizes Suspected Iran Missile Parts Bound for Yemen
[Haaretz] A Navy warship has seized a "significant cache" of suspected Iranian guided missile parts headed to rebels in Yemen, U.S. officials said Wednesday, marking the first time that such sophisticated components have been taken en route to the war there.

The seizure from a small boat by the U.S. Navy and a U.S. Coast Guard boarding team happened last Wednesday in the northern Arabian Sea, and the weapons have been linked to Iran.

Officials said the incident illustrates the continuing illegal smuggling of weapons to Houthi rebels and comes as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were meeting, with Iran as the main topic.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to describe a sensitive military mission.

The U.S. has consistently accused Iran of illegally smuggling arms to Houthi rebels battling the Yemeni government and has seized smaller and less sophisticated weapons in transit.

According to officials, the USS Forrest Sherman was conducting routine maritime operations when sailors noticed a small wooden boat that was not displaying a country flag. The Navy and Coast Guard personnel stopped, boarded the boat for inspection and found the weapons.

Officials did not provide the exact number of missiles or parts but did describe it as a significant cache. They said the small boat was towed into port, and the people on the boat were transferred to the Yemeni Coast Guard. The weapons are still on board the U.S. ship.

George Zimmerman SUES Trayvon Martin's family for $100MILLION
[OUTLINE] George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted in the 2012 fatal shooting of unarmed black teen Trayvon Martin, is suing Martin's family and Florida prosecutors, claiming that they engineered false evidence in the homicide trial. The lawsuit to be filed Wednesday in Polk County Circuit Court seeks $100million in civil damages for defamation, abuse of civil process and conspiracy.

It alleges that the prosecution's key witness in Zimmerman's 2013 murder trial, Rachel Jeantel, was an imposter coached by the family and their lawyers.

The lead defendant in the suit is Sybrina Fulton, Martin's mother. Fulton gained national notoriety as an advocate for social justice and reducing gun violence in the wake of her son's death.

The family's attorney, Ben Crump, is also named as a defendant. He is accused of defamation and attempting to 'deprive Zimmerman of his constitutional and other legal rights'.

Zimmerman is being represented by high-profile conservative legal crusader Larry Klayman, founder of Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch and a former US Department of Justice prosecutor.

Democrats Are Watering Down Impeachment into a Mere Recall Effort
[AMERICANTHINKER] Days before Donald Trump
...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election...
was to be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, Representative The Ageless and Downright Brilliant Comrade Maxine Impeach 45! Waters
...U.S. Representative for California's 43rd congressional district, serving since 1991, a total of 28.01006 years. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the most senior of the twelve black women currently serving in the United States Congress, and a member and former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Before becoming a member of Congress she served in the California Assembly, to which she was first elected back when Disco was in flower, in 1976, which would make it 43.00801 years. She has been a politician for virtually all her adult life. If she was a little brighter she'd be a Communist...
called for him to be impeached for dubbing his opponent, "Crooked Hillary" during his campaign. Since name-calling doesn't qualify as high crimes or misdemeanors, the impeachment call fizzled, seen as another crazy Maxine rant. That was a mistake.

Just 19 minutes after President Trump was sworn in, the Washington Post announced, "The Campaign to Impeach President Trump Has Begun," this time for being rich. Every day since, networks breathlessly report new impeachment calls for tweeting, for unspoken words, for being an "inciter" of "hatred." There are 98 reasons to date. In fact, the term "impeach" has been so overused that it's losing its authority. It is seen no longer as a pivotal event in our country's history, but rather just as another political battle.

The Left has effectively recast impeachment as a recall. In a recall, a public official may be removed from office before his term expires, often for any reason or no reason at all.

Conversely, the Constitution specifies that impeachment is only for treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Now, I know the Constitution wasn't written for uneducated rubes like me. One needs a law degree, political office, or a spot on cable TV to be qualified to interpret the "real" meaning of the Constitution. Nevertheless, I'll weigh in.

Note the wording: impeachment for "Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." Thus, evidence of one of the aforementioned conditions (legal jargon inserted for credentialing) must exist to trigger impeachment ‐ in other words, evidence of a crime before, not after the impeachment process.

But lack of cause is not an issue because, as Gerald Ford posited, "an impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history."

No, Gerald, impeachment is a constitutional tool to remove a president who behaves in a manner deleterious to public welfare, not to remove a political enemy.

#2  Insurrection that is undermining the fundamental expectations of obedience and fidelity in the vast civil service of our nation. Salted for decades with preference for affirmative action and liberal political bias, their sense of entitlement and fitness to to rule, not serve, is surfacing throughout the organs of power. One branch at war with itself and and another is destroying confidence in the institutions themselves. In their obsession with power at any cost the left fail to grasp the fragility of the American experiment in self governance. Trump Calls Trudeau ‘Two-Faced’ After The Canadian PM Gets Caught Mocking Trump
[DAILYCALLER] President Donald Trump
...the Nailer of NAFTA...
called out Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday after Trudeau was caught on video making fun of the president for being constantly late to meetings.

Trump said Trudeau is "two-faced" during a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslem colonists...
at the 2019 NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
Summit. Trump also accused the prime minister of lashing out because he was unhappy that Trump was pressuring Canada to meet their full financial obligations to NATO.

"Well, he’s two-faced. And with Trudeau, he’s a nice guy. I find him to be a nice guy, but the truth is, I called him out on the fact that he’s not paying 2%, and I guess he’s not very happy about it. I mean, you were there. A couple of you were there," Trump said after being asked about Trudeau’s unflattering comments.

The president continued, "It’s Canada. They have money. And they should be paying 2%. So I called him out on that, and I’m sure he wasn’t happy about that, but that’s the way it is. Look, I’m representing the U.S. and he should be paying more than he’s paying. And he understands it. So I can imagine he’s not that happy. But that’s the way it is."

Recovery of 190m from Malik Riaz tops cabinet discussion
[DAWN] The federal cabinet on Tuesday held a threadbare discussion on recovery of 190 million pounds by the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) from real estate tycoon Malik Riaz’s family and handing it over to Pakistain.

A source, who attended the meeting, told Dawn on condition of anonymity that the prime minister discussed the matter with some cabinet members when officials of Prime Minister Secretariat and other ministries had left the meeting hall.

According to a blurb issued by the PM Office, the Assets Recovery Unit (ARU) facilitated the repatriation of 190 million pounds (approximately $250m) through a settlement.

The UK’s National Crime Agency has agreed to an out-of-court settlement in a pending investigation with a Pak family that owns large property developments in Pakistain and elsewhere. The NCA also agreed on immediate repatriation of funds to the state of Pakistain, it added.

Jonathan Turley’s Impeachment Testimony: Democrats Setting Terrible Precedent
[BREITBART] A transcript of Constitutional Law professor Johnathan Turley’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on impeachment was released ahead of his Wednesday morning appearance.

Turley, slated to be the sole Republican witness, will testify that removing President Trump over allegations of wrongdoing related to Ukraine would a grave mistake.

"If the House proceeds solely on the Ukrainian allegations, this impeachment would stand out among modern impeachments as the shortest proceeding, with the thinnest evidentiary record, and the narrowest grounds ever used to impeach a president," Turley, who teaches at George Washington University Law School, will tell the panel, headed up by chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY).

"That does not bode well for future presidents who are working in a country often sharply and, at times, bitterly divided," the professor is slated to add.

Lisa Page Text to Peter Strzok: ‘You get all our oconus lures approved? ;)'
[RedState] A fascinating article, written by Judicial Watch's Chris Farrell, a former counterintelligence case officer, recently appeared on the Gatestone Institute's website. Just when we thought we could recite every text message ever exchanged between Page and Strzok, along comes a new one. In December 2015, Page wrote to Strzok, "You get all our oconus lures approved? ;)."

Because, believe it or not, the FBI is prohibited from such activities as investigating a major political party's candidate for the presidency, they needed to find an alternative. Farrell explains that their alternative was to "manufacture a foreign counterintelligence (FCI) "threat" that could then be "imported" back into the United States." He writes:

Plausible deniability, the Holy Grail of covert activities, was in reach for the plotters if they could develop an FCI operation outside the continental United States (OCONUS) involving FBI confidential human sources (Halper, Mifsud, others?) that would act as "lures" (intelligence jargon associated with double agent operations) to ensnare Trump associates.

We have evidence of these machinations from December 2015 when FBI lawyer Lisa Page texts to her boyfriend, the now infamous FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok, "You get all our oconus lures approved? ;)."

The coup plot failed, but the chief coup conspirators are free, crisscrossing the country on book tours and appearing as paid contributors to CNN and MSNBC.
