Rumor: Chicago Mayor to resign
All rumor for now, but ewwwwww
[IBTimes] There are rumors circulating on social media that Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot will be tendering her resignation after being caught cheating on her wife, First Lady Amy Eshleman....

The post claimed the woman Lightfoot was having an affair with had a boyfriend who was caught for possession of a weapon and asked Lightfoot to "take care" of it. The extortion calls allegedly led to Eshleman finding out and "beating" Lightfoot.
So much for the idea that two women together are gentler than a man and a woman.
... police responded to the domestic dispute at the Lightfoot-Eshleman residence, where they ran into their daughter who told them "my moms are fighting."
Mike Kozlowski submitted the same article, responding particularly to the sentence below:
...Want to stress that this has not been confirmed, but TFA mentions some Tweets and other info that would suggest that something truly bad is about to drop on Her Honor.

Couldn't happen to a nicer Mayor and city.

The rumors stemmed from a now-deleted tweet posted by Chicago civil rights advocate Ja'Mal Green. "Lori Lightfoot is resigning tomorrow in a stunning end to her mayorship. WOW," he tweeted.

House Republicans Who Voted to Impeach Trump See Fundraising Boost
[WSJ] As they prepare to face primary challengers, the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach then-President Donald Trump after his supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 raised significantly more money during the first quarter of 2021 than they did two years earlier.

The group, leveraging the power of incumbency, also swamped their GOP primary opponents in almost every instance during the first round of fundraising since angering Mr. Trump with their votes, new Federal Election Commission filings show.

While all the incumbents outraised challengers who filed campaign finance reports, it is still early in the two-year election cycle and money is just one factor in typically low-turnout primaries.

Mr. Trump’s political-action committees could also weigh in financially on some of the contests, and his endorsements could carry significant weight with the party’s base. The PACs aren’t required to report their latest totals until July, but one of them, Save America PAC, started the year with $31 million in the bank and has continued to raise money since then.

In a speech earlier this year at the Conservative Political Action Conference, where he called out all 10 by name, Mr. Trump told his supporters to "get rid of them all" in next year’s elections.

#1  Just not from any Republican donors.

#2  A few of them will survive. I don’t expect fair elections anyway. The last fair election was 2016, 22 will be like 2020 now that they got away with it.

#7  Just not from any Republican donors.

Drop the title in the Google app to discover that is not quite true. Rep. Liz Cheney got donations from Mitt Romney’s PAC and a smaller amount from the Republican Jewish Coalition. But I’m sure the majority came from Progressive groups.

It’s well worth reading the rest of the article. The ten who need to be primaried are:

Liz Cheney (Wyo)
Adam Kinzinger (IL)
Jaime Herrera Beutler (Wash)
Anthony Gonzalez (OH)
Peter Meijer (MI)
John Katko (NY)
Tom Rice (SC)
Fred Upton (MI)
David Valadao (CA)
Dan Newhouse (Wash)

Rep Cheney already has three Republican challengers — Anthony Bouchard has raised the most thus far.

Rep Kinzinger is being challenged by Catalina Lauf, who does not yet live in the district.

Rep Rice is being challenged by Ken Richardson.

Rep Gonzalez is being challenged by Trump campaign and White House aide Max Miller.

Pro-Trump congresscritters Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jim Jordan have also raised substantial sums this quarter.

#8  I don’t expect fair elections anyway.

For the most part, Republican-controlled states are quietly working on passing laws to tighten up voting procedures (and loosen gun control). If Democrat-controlled Washington wants to change the rules for the entire country, they’ll have a fight on their hands.

So we’ll have a split next year— red states with fair elections, blue states without. What happens after that depends on who controls the Senate even more than the House.

#9  A few of them will survive.

I don't think so. They're not consistent with the left's ideology and will be an easy target for the 'progressive' dark money and dirty tricks.

The Dems smell blood here. Expect a weak right-wing primary challenge fight (by design) and an overwhelming assault by the Dems for the actual seat

#10  Cheney and Romney? Republicans?
Posted by: Cesare || 04/18/2021 16:18 Comments || Top||

#11  I predict that Trump stumps for their opposition and the poll numbers show most of these folks have no chance and most of them decide to drop out before being humiliated.

'Defund the police' rhetoric returns
[NYPOST] Moderate and swing-district Democrats are squirming with the aggressive return of the Defund the Police rhetoric following the death of Daunte Wright at the hands of a Minnesota cop.

"There is always room for reforms and to do better, but defunding the police makes no sense," New Jersey Democratic Rep. Josh Gottheimer told The Post. "I think more investment and training should be put in, things like cameras are something that law enforcement supports. But the idea that we should gut budgets for the sake of it is absurd."

Gottheimer added that Democrats he knows in Congress support law enforcement and were "grateful" for their service.

Over the last week progressive politicians from safe districts have swung for the fences on the issue. "Squad" member Rep. Rashida Tlaib has led the charge. "No more policing, incarceration, and militarization. It can’t be reformed," she said in a tweet Monday.

On Wednesday, Rep. Alexandria Boom Boom Ocasio-Cortez
Dem Congressgirl from da Bronx in Noo Yawk and leader of the Mean Girl Caucus in Congress. One of the Great Minds of the 21st Century, she is known as much for her innaleck as for her dance moves. She is all in favor of socialism, even though she's fuzzy on the details. She was the inventor of the Green New Deal, though she doesn't talk about it much anymore...
chimed in: "Cameras, chokehold bans, retraining funds, and similar reform measures do not ultimately solve what is a systemic problem."

#4  Please please PLEASE, keep talking about this all the way into 2022 and 2024.

That talk will cease by mid-May of both years. The Dems are somewhat smart about hiding their true designs.
