Gowdy: Congress May Subpoena Susan Rice to Testify About Unmasking If Necessary
[Breitbart] Thursday on Fox News Channel’s "America’s Newsroom," while discussing President Barack Obama’s former national security adviser Susan Rice’s decision to decline an invitation to testify before a Senate subcommittee on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) said that could lead Congress to subpoena her.

Gowdy said, "There are other ways to invite people other than via a letter. There are things called subpoenas. You shouldn’t have to use it with a former national security adviser, but if you do, you do."
Referencing Rice’s role in the unmasking of Trump transition officials he said Rice is "a very important witness."

He added, "Members of Congress don’t pick the witnesses. Lawyers don’t pick witnesses. The facts pick the witnesses.And whether Ambassador Rice likes it or not, she’s a really important fact witness."

#6  Gowdy keeps falling for the Dems delay tactic. The Subpoena should have been ready to go the first time around and they should have a plan ready when she pleads the 5th so they don't drag this on for a year and allow the Dems to claim witchhunt and move on.

New POTUS Library to be in Chicago
Unexpectedly!
[BusinessInsider]. By 2021, Chicago will be the home of the 44th presidential library, built in honor of former US President Barack Obama. Called the Obama Presidential Center, it will feature a library, museum, auditorium, restaurant, and public park.
Probably not a chicken and waffles restaurant.
The $500 million center will be designed by local firm Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects. The company won the commission out of 140 entries in 2016.

On May 3, former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama unveiled the design, including a 3D model, at the South Shore Cultural Center in Chicago. Mayor Rahm Emanuel, community leaders, and hundreds of Chicago residents attended.

The Obama Presidential Center will be built on Chicago’s South Side. Located 10 miles from downtown, it will be the first presidential library to be built in an urban environment.
I'm sure there will be some other 'firsts'. Unexpectedly!

Loretta Lynch Promised Hillary's Email Investigation Wouldn't "Go Too Far"
[Independent Sentinel] The New York Times found a troubling email last month that indicated Loretta Lynch promised she would make sure the investigation of Hillary Clinton "didn’t go too far". Today’s testimony added more ammunition to the bombshell exposé, implicating James Comey and the FBI.

The email was found among those from Democrat operatives hacked by the Russians. The email reportedly provided assurances that Attorney General Lynch would protect Secretary Clinton by making sure the FBI investigation "didn’t go too far".

Grassley asked Comey during testimony on Capitol Hill today before the Senate Judiciary Committee, "How and when did you first learn of this document, also who sent it and who received it?"

Comey replied: "That’s not a question I can answer in this forum", Mr. Chairman, "cause it would call for a classified response. I have briefed leadership of the intelligence committees on that particular issue, but I can’t talk about it here."

More Dems needed for Ossoff runoff - Ga. Fed Judge Re-Opens Voter Registration
[The Hill] A federal judge has temporarily reopened voter registration Thursday, ahead of a congressional runoff election in Georgia's 6th district.

According to a report by AJC.com, the decision was made by U.S. District Judge Timothy Batten as a part of a larger lawsuit that examined whether Georgia violated federal law by reducing the amount of time state residents had to register to vote.

Voter registration was closed on March 20, despite the runoff contest being scheduled for the end of June.

The lawsuit was filed by The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, which represents multiple civil rights and voting rights organizations. It argued that the registration cutoff was premature, the AJC reported, and that the state residents should have been allowed to register for two more months.

Focus has been heavy on the race in recent months, with the top-two jungle primary vote-getters -- Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel -- set to face off on June 20.

Ossoff came two points short of capturing the majority vote required to win the election outright.

Handel, who came second in the preliminary contest, now enjoys full GOP, support including the direct backing of President Trump and his administration.

Batten ruled that the voter registration for the final stage of the runoff election will be open until May 21.

Here are the 20 Republicans 'Beltway Party' Members who rejected ObamaCare repeal
[The Hill] Twenty mostly centrist House Republicans who represent swing districts voted against the GOP’s legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act on Thursday.

Two more defections would have doomed the bill, signaling how tough a vote it was for many lawmakers.

Only one member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, freshman Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), voted against the measure because it didn’t go far enough to fully repeal the healthcare law. Two other libertarian-minded conservatives, Reps. Thomas Massie (Ky.) and Walter Jones (N.C.), also opposed it.

The defectors were primarily centrists who had trepidations about voting for the bill after the addition of an amendment to let states apply for waivers from certain ObamaCare provisions that prevent insurers from charging sick people higher premiums and mandate which services insurance plans must cover.

Idiot. Get the one through and then fight for a second bill that repeals even more. Don't wait for perfection (unless you are hoping to have it both ways).

Government
Republican Obamacare replacement bill passes House
A different take than the Breitbart article we had yesterday.
[CNBC] After years of debate, the House on Thursday voted to repeal key parts of the Affordable Care Act and replace them with new provisions.

The vote, which President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
was planning to tout as a big victory, sends the Republican-sponsored bill to gut Obamacare
... aka the Affordable Care Act, an ineptly designed and worse executed piece of legislation designed to bring 17 percent of the U.S. economy under the direct control of the government. The previous iteration, known as Hillarycare, was laughed out of Washington. This stinker was passed on a party-line vote without being read...
to the Senate for consideration.

But winning approval for the bill could be even more difficult in the Senate than it has been in the House, where Republican leaders struggled for nearly two months to wrangle enough votes in their caucus to secure its passage.

The bill passed by a vote of 217 to 213, which was one more "yes" vote that was needed for passage.

All 193 Democrats voting opposed the bill. They were joined by 20 Republicans voting "no."

It can't get much harder in the Senate than the House--unless it is quashed in the Senate.

Posted by: Skidmark || 05/05/2017 12:35 Comments || Top||

#7  Trump is cutting something like $1 Trillion in O-care taxes, mandates, subsidies and fees. If that is only the taxes, one has to wonder how much O-Care is really costing folks.

I saw a doc on TV who said he came up with a three page health care bill that would cost people far less. He also said that O-Care was crafted by the insurance industry for the insurance industry.

Two 'Beltway Party' Legislators Propose American Replacement Bill, Plus Amnesty
[Breitbart] Two GOP legislators are introducing legislation to let states annually import 500,000 foreign blue-collar workers and white-collar professionals to replace Americans who have fallen out of the workforce and into drug addiction.

The American replacement bill is needed because companies can’t hire the employees they want amid the massive decline in the number of Americans who are seeking work, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson told an event hosted Wednesday by the CATO Institute.

"Why can’t Wisconsin manufacturers, why can’t small businesses, find enough people to work?" Johnson asked during a speech in a Senate hearing room with supporters of the replacement bill. He continued:
Americans don't need to be 'replaced.' Trained possibly, but not replaced. The traitorous legislators are the one's who need to be replaced.
Posted by: Besoeker || 05/05/2017 00:00 || Comments || Link || [0 views] Top|| File under:

#1  Americans would work, if the safety nets were made more uncomfortable. (It might also help if employers weren't so restrictive about drug use or criminal records - which are reasonable, to a point, but...)
Posted by: Glenmore || 05/05/2017 8:33 Comments || Top||

#2  I agree with Glenmore on this, unless the person is a practicing addict. Job consistency is not in their view of the world.

For others, it's way too easy for many to not work, plus we give them money to sit on their butts.

Also, it's not all the employers' fault that they don't hire folks with a record. The insurance companies have made it very difficult (for liability reasons, they argue) to hire folks with less than stellar backgrounds for many well-paid positions.

A lot of the folks with a past are well trained in one field or another and are really willing to work, they just are 'un-hirable' in today's market.

After a while, they give up.
Posted by: Mullah Richard || 05/05/2017 10:10 Comments || Top||

#3  Amnesty should not even be on the table. Why do these boneheads always spout amnesty? Massive decline in available American workers due to drug addiction? These are two separate problems that need to be solved separately. Otherwise, Americans don't need to be 'replaced.' Trained possibly, but not replaced. The traitorous legislators are the one's who need to be replaced.
Posted by: JohnQC || 05/05/2017 10:33 Comments || Top||

#4  Let's see 50 states x 500,000 = 25,000,000 x 10 years = 250,000,000 which will almost double the current US population. Brings the US population to, roughly, 550,000,000 or more than half a billion. They wanna make the United States look like India or China. IMHO that's insane.
Posted by: Abu Uluque || 05/05/2017 11:03 Comments || Top||

#5  If you really wanna do something about the drug problem (which I don't believe) then I believe there are enough laws already on the books. You just need to enforce them. Build the dang wall and secure the border for one. Monitor Big Pharma and all the quack doctors to make sure Oxycontin doesn't get into the wrong hands for another. Otherwise you're gonna end up with half a billion drug addicts. Then what?
Posted by: Abu Uluque || 05/05/2017 11:09 Comments || Top||

#6  Wisconsin already has a load of foreign blue collar workers.
