Meadows signals imminent indictments in Durham probe: 'It's time for people to go to jail'
[FOX] White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said Sunday that it's "time for people to go to jail" as part of U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe into FBI misconduct -- prompting ex-Trump aide George Papadopoulos to sound a celebratory note on Twitter.

The comments came as Fox News learned this weekend that Jennifer Boone, a senior FBI official who oversaw the flawed probe into former Trump adviser Carter Page, has received a major promotion to lead a field office -- and the bureau won't say why.
“Congratulations, Ms Boone! You’ve been promoted to head the Hooper Bay, Alaska office. You must be so proud!”
Meadows, during his Sunday interview with Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," also previewed the Trump administration's soon-to-be-released plans for reopening schools and implementing new economic stimulus measures. More details, Meadows said, would be coming this week.

However, Meadows' comments on the Durham probe were among his most suggestive yet. They followed Attorney General Bill Barr's comments to Fox News earlier this year that Durham's findings have been "very troubling" and that familiar names are currently being probed.

"I think the American people are expecting indictments," Meadows told anchor Maria Bartiromo. "I expect indictments based on the evidence I've seen. Lindsey Graham did a good job in getting that out. We know that they not only knew that there wasn't a case, but they continued to investigate and spy."

Internal FBI documents that emerged in April showed that Peter Strzok -- the now-disgraced anti-Trump former head of FBI counterintelligence -- ordered the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to remain open even after it was slated to be closed due to a lack of so-called "derogatory" information. Strzok pursued an investigation based on the Logan Act, a law never used in a successful prosecution and that was intended to prevent individuals from falsely representing the U.S. government abroad in a pre-telephone era.

Europe
[Europe's] "Frugal" Countries Are Right
[DLACALLE] There is no solidarity without responsibility. The European Union Recovery Fund cannot be used as an excuse to perpetuate bloated political spending and create a transfer union where governments use taxpayers’ money to increase bureaucracy, because it would be the end of the European project. A union based on excess spending, debt and extractive policies would be destroyed in a few years. The strength of a unified group of countries comes from diversity and responsibility.

No one denies the challenges created by the Covid-19 crisis, but there are countries that have used the excuse of the pandemic to inflate political spending and now demand free money. The Spanish government has doubled the cost of government, maintained all the spending it increased during the growth period and increased the number of ministerial seats and advisors despite the crisis. Additionally, the government has approved a basic income plan that had no budget or fiscal space. There has been no management of costs whatsoever to allow budget room for automatic stabilizers, health, and unemployment costs. A government that increased the deficit in 2019 by 24% in a year of 2% GDP growth and record tax revenues has doubled the cost of government in the crisis and now demands no conditions or scrutiny from other member states.

Why would a serious government oppose a detailed scrutiny of the funds received? It should welcome it. Why would a government that calls itself reformist and states its commitment to budget stability reject any structural reform proposed by other member states? They should be implementing them now. Furthermore, why would a government that talks about an unprecedented emergency prefer to receive less funds than to accept the member states’ monitoring of grants? One could suspect that they are not aiming to use the funds in the most effective way.

Brace for the Backlash
It's Kurt
[Townhall] According to science, which we recently learned is racist except when it is useful to the libs, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Putting aside the gender and pallor privilege of Sir Isaac Newton that has the sociology students in Goucher College’s "Physics for Liberal Arts Majors and other Dummies" course literally shaking, his Third Law of Motion provides a glimpse of the future as the center-left and the ravenous tiger it is riding, the radical left, seek to lock in their domination of the culture through physical and social terrorism. The intended victims — us — are not going to just sit here and take their guff. They will react.

That reaction, that backlash, has already begun. And if the left responds by escalating, it could get super ugly.

#1  I don't want mere backlash.

All backlash does is temporarily regain some lost ground, while conceding some permanent gains to the left. Which they will then leverage into further gains down the road,

We had backlash under Reagan and Gingrich.

On the domestic front, what did it ultimately get us?

I want a thorough dismantling of the edifice built by the elites over the last 110 years.

And a re-examination of what was done in the wake of the Civil War.

Hell, it may even be time to ask whether Enlightenment concepts are truly applicable across the board.

#2  I want to see the Left scourged and eliminated across the board, by whatever ever means necessary. I want to be able to lampshades and wallets made from tattoo’d hippie freaks hides. Does that make me a bad person.

A clever way to get the Black Lives Matter paintings off the street
The $ Shot:
[AmericanThinker] Many communities across the country are displaying "Black Lives Matter" street murals. Redwood City was one of them until last week when the city quietly removed it.

But, last Thursday, the city washed the sign away after being contacted by local real estate attorney Maria Rutenburg, who said that if the street was now a public forum, she wanted a sign of her own reading "MAGA 2020."

"I saw "Black Lives Matter" sign appearing on Broadway Street on the asphalt and I figured that’s gonna be a new public space, open for discussion, and I wanted to get my message out, too." Rutenburg said.

"MAGA" is, of course, short for Make America Great Again, a rallying cry for supporters of President Trump. Faced with the possibility of a political and/or legal fight, the city suddenly decided that Dan Pease’s sign was a traffic hazard that might cause accidents and they removed it in the middle of the night. Pease says he doesn't consider "Black Lives Matter" to be a political statement but he understands the position the city was in.

Demanding a Just COVID-19 Response
[GeorgeSoros.con] In an interview, published today, George Soros has set out how the European Union (EU) can maintain its AAA rating and finance its COVID-19 recovery package.

Through supporting ’perpetual bonds’ — or ’Consols’, as they are known in the UK and US — Mr Soros believes the EU can address the dual crises of COVID and climate change, which currently threaten the bloc.
Golly.
He argues that ’Consols’ present a credible alternative to raising the EU budget and would provide relief funds that could be targeted at member states hardest hit by the health pandemic, such as Italy and Spain.

He argues that the authorization process for the issuing of bonds — which would run on an indefinite term, and only require the servicing of interest — could be completed in a matter of weeks, and in time for the May 27th European Summit to accept them as a desirable alternative. He urges the Dutch people, and the wider Hanseatic countries, to give this proposal consideration as a means of averting an increase in their European budget contributions.

How long will the damage of the coronavirus last on the eurozone economy?

Longer than most people think. One of the problems is that the virus itself is rapidly evolving and changing the way it attacks human organs. This will make it much harder to develop a reliable vaccine.

Science & Technology
Face masks for the public during the covid-19 crisis
[The British Medical Journal‎] The precautionary principle is, according to Wikipedia, "a strategy for approaching issues of potential harm when extensive scientific knowledge on the matter is lacking." The evidence base on the efficacy and acceptability of the different types of face mask in preventing respiratory infections during epidemics is sparse and contested.12 But covid-19 is a serious illness that currently has no known treatment or vaccine and is spreading in an immune naive population. Deaths are rising steeply, and health systems are under strain.

This raises an ethical question: should policy makers apply the precautionary principle now and encourage people to wear face masks on the grounds that we have little to lose and potentially something to gain from this measure?3 We believe they should.

...Evidence based medicine tends to focus predominantly on internal validity—whether primary research studies were "done right"—using tools to assess risk of bias and adequacy of statistical analysis. External validity relates to a different question: whether findings of primary studies done in a different population with a different disease or risk state are relevant to the current policy question. We argue that there should be a greater focus on external validity in evaluation of masks.
What they mean by this, is that the "evidence" re efficiency of masks is not from CV-19 but other viruses - ones with completely different parameters. Rest at the link

Government
As if 2020 Wasn't Contentious Enough
[Snippet of immediate interest]
[AmericanThinker] 2. Another Possible Supreme Court Hearing, Certain to be Contentious

The latest storm of vitriol and partisanship is likely to center on Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who had known since some time in May that her liver cancer has returned, and had been undergoing a course of chemotherapy (gemcitabine) since May 19. This week she announced, quite tardily it seemed to me, this significant medical information, bringing us up to date on the latest:
"My most recent scan on July 7 indicated significant reduction of the liver lesions and no new disease. I am tolerating chemotherapy well and am encouraged by the success of my current treatment. I will continue bi-weekly chemotherapy to keep my cancer at bay, and am able to maintain an active daily routine, Throughout, I have kept up with opinion writing and all other Court work."

Whatever you think of her, I think it unlikely that she will survive much longer, even as resilient as she is. She’s 87. In 1999 she was treated for colon cancer; in 2009 for pancreatic cancer; in 2018 for lung cancer; in 2019 for a tumor on her pancreas. And now, liver cancer.

She has reiterated that she "will remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam. I remain fully able to do that," but I think that is a very optimistic assessment, given her history and age.

If her assessment does prove overly optimistic and a replacement is needed, we can expect the Democrats will dial up the cant and lies we saw in the Gorsuch and Kavanaugh hearings a couple hundred notches. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will have his work cut out for him. It cannot have escaped Trump’s opponents that due to McConnell’s deft hand, the President has significantly altered the federal judiciary, getting Senate confirmation of 200 federal court judges. (Two Supreme Court justices, 53 Courts of Appeals judges and 143 U.S. District Court Judges.) Thanks, too, should go to former President Obama who left all these vacancies, doubtless in the belief that Hillary Clinton would be his successor and he could count on her to fill these slots with the same kind of activist leftwing judges he would have appointed. To no small extent, the judiciary and the Supreme Court in particular, have outsize, unwarranted power here these days and this is why such confirmation hearings increasingly look like pitched battles, but here we are and that’s the fact.
