[CHICAGO.CBSLOCAL] A Kansas man attempting to insert his penis into the tailpipe of a car had to be subdued with a stun gun after refusing to listen to police. "Get a horse!"
"We were called to the 1200 block of East Broadway to a report of a naked male underneath a car," said Lt. Scott Powell of the Newton (Kansas) Police Department. ".. He was attempting to stick his penis into the tailpipe of the vehicle."
The suspect did not respond to officer commands and officers used a stun gun to subdue him, the Newton Kansan reported.
Powell said the man was intoxicated to the point of being incoherent.
Police submitted a report to city prosecutors recommending a misdemeanor charge of lewd and lascivious behavior, the News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported.
[NYP] The victim, identified by local media as Prabhu Bhatara, was driving a group of people home from a wedding in an SUV when he stopped to relieve himself in a forest area in the eastern Indian state of Odisha on Wednesday evening, the Hindustan Times reported.
Bhatara then spotted an injured bear and for some reason, decided to take a selfie with the creature, according to the report.
Was there beer involved?
When the man approached, the bear’s fight instinct immediately kicked in.
"Bhatara died on the spot," forest ranger Dhanurjaya Mohapatra told the news outlet. "What spot?"
Horrific video of the incident filmed by a bystander shows the bear attacking Bhatara, as terrified witnesses scream.
A stray dog even attempted to go after the bear by barking at it, but Bhatara could not be saved.
Bhatara’s death is Odisha’s third selfie-related fatality since December. A 50-year-old man was crushed to death by a wild elephant while trying to take a selfie with the animal in December, according to local media. Also that month, a youth was crushed to death while taking a selfie, also with an elephant, reports said.
[Aviation Republic] A woman on a United regional flight operated by Trans States Airlines is claiming a flight attendant allegedly drunk or drugged cursed at passengers and "endangered everybody’s lives."
Erika Gorman said she was flying on United flight 4689 from Denver to North Dakota on Thursday when the flight attendant became "belligerent" and used profanity while addressing passengers.
"Drunk and disorderly ‐ belligerent flight attendant. Boarding announcements were ’if your seatbelt isn’t tight, you F^*%ed up.’ I went to the cockpit and talked to the captain and police were waiting when we landed," Gorman tweeted about the incident.
[SA People] The African National Congress (ANC) said in a statement Saturday evening that it is saddened to learn of the "brutal, callous and cold-blooded killing" of well known education expert "Comrade" Graeme Bloch’s parents, Rosalie Bloch (84) and Aubrey Jackson (96), who were found murdered in their Rosebank home in Cape Town today, 5 May 2018.
Police were called to their address on Saturday morning at around 09h00 by a family member who had reportedly found their bodies. The elderly couple, who were declared dead on the scene, had been tied up.
Graeme’s brother, Lance Bloch, said: "Our mother Rosalie Bloch and her common-law husband of about 30 years, Aubrey Jackson. I’m still numb and shocked."
Rosalie was a popular anti-apartheid activist who was seen just 10 days ago at a Black Sash event.
Michael Weeder, the Dean of St George’s Cathedral in Cape Town, said "the tragic, awful manner" in which the couple’s lives were ended "is sad beyond words".
He said Rosalie will always be remembered for the "shelter and hospitality she extended to those on the run in our dark days. The support she gave to the families of detainees.
"Our love and prayers to Graeme Bloch and his wife Cheryl Carolus and to Lance and all other members of the family.
"I pray that the family will take comfort from the way their loved ones feasted on the goodness of the perennial struggle for justice."
[BBC] Argentina's central bank has raised interest rates for the third time in eight days as the country's currency, the peso, continues to fall sharply. How can such a resource-blessed country screw it up so monumentally? Castro/Mexico/Che/Perons/...
On Friday, the bank hiked rates to 40% from 33.25%, a day after they were raised from 30.25%. A week ago, they were raised from 27.25%.
The rises are aimed at supporting the peso, which has lost a quarter of its value over the past year.
Analysts say the crisis is escalating and looks set to continue.
Argentina is in the middle of a pro-market economic reform programme under President Mauricio Macri, who is seeking to reverse years of protectionism and high government spending under his predecessor, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner.
Inflation, a perennial problem in Argentina, was at 25% in 2017, the highest rate in Latin America except for Venezuela.
This year, the central bank has set an inflation target of 15% and has said it will continue to act to enforce it.
[MIAMIHERALD] Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is warning that he’ll take up arms and lead a revolution if a government comes into power that wants to hand the country’s "riches" to "imperialist" forces.
In a campaign speech Wednesday, Maduro ‐ who is hoping to win a new six-year term in a highly questioned May 20 election ‐ accused his nearest opposition rival, Henri Falcón, of wanting to sell the country out to "the gringos."
"If someday a government was in power that intended to hand over [our] riches, I would be the first one to raise the alarm, grab a gun and start an armed revolution with the people, if necessary," he told a crowd of supporters in Vargas. "I would be the first one to do it, and call the people to arms."
His opponent, Falcón, a one-time government supporter turned dissident, is struggling to attract voters who are wary that going to the polls will legitimize a deeply flawed electoral process. And most of the major opposition groups are calling for an outright boycott of the election.

What 'riches'? He does have the Marxist language down pat, though.
Maduro has as much of a destiny as Khaddaffy had.
Eventually no one will follow him, and he will have to hide in a sewer.
And then inevitably he will be hauled out gibbering and begging as Kadaffy was..... and be straddled over the hood of a 1957 Dodge and bayoneted in the rectum and finished off with a burst of 9mm in the head.
It will be ( relatively ) quick.
The people of Venezuela deserve their fate....as does California and its people for that matter.
[Reuters] Dallas, TX - Larry Lopata and some friends were sitting around the campfire on a hunting trip when they came up with an idea for a new firearms product: an adjustable-length trigger, so people with different sized hands can comfortably share the same gun.
The four business partners put $150,000 into development until last December when they were ready to seek more funds from investors. Crowdfunding sites such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo would have been perfect, but they prohibit users from raising money for weapons projects.
So Lopata created his own, gun-friendly crowdfunding site, GunDynamics.com, which launched last month.
While much of corporate America has turned its back on firearms-related business following mass shootings such as the Feb. 14 massacre at a high school in Parkland, Florida, that killed 17 people, pro-gun entrepreneurs are creating their own start-ups to fill the void.
"Parkland really brought out this open warfare against the gun community," Lopata said.
Others who make their living in the firearms world have felt unwelcome on sites such as YouTube and PayPal and are also constructing online businesses to cater to gun-lovers. Some are promoting their self-reliance at the National Rifle Association annual meeting in Dallas this weekend.
Since launching on April 19, Lopata has raised $6,720 for his project, which is seeking $50,000 to fund an initial production run of 5,000 triggers.
[DAWN] UMERKOT: Amisha Khaskheli ‐ said to be under 18 and alleged to have been tricked into a marriage scam along with her parents by some influential community men and the city’s women police personnel ‐ was produced before Umerkot civil judge Amir Rajput on Thursday to record her statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
She stated that she was kidnapped by Faizullah Palli and Saifullah Palli with the help of SHO Khush Bakht of the local women cop shoppe. The judge handed over the girl to her parents.
Before making her statement, she came across some local news hounds when she was brought back to Umerkot by a team of the Pinyari cop shoppe. The news hounds quoted her as saying that she was drugged by the SHO at the cop shoppe and that when she regained her senses she found herself at the house of the Pallis.
Amisha was taken into custody along with five other persons by the SHO and her team on April 17 in a raid on a ceremony in Hashim Palli village where an alleged underage marriage was under way. The SHO took the plea that Amisha was only 13.
The underage groom, Shahzeb, was also there but he was not taken into custody, it was learnt.
In order to hush up the matter, the groom’s side got an affidavit executed to state under oath that the ceremony was for an engagement and not wedding and that the wedding would not be solemnised until Amisha attained the legal age for marriage.
Eventually, the girl and suspects were set free and an impression was created that Amisha was going to be handed over to her parents. However, a lie repeated often enough remains a lie... her mother, Umran Khaskheli, moved the Sindh High Court on April 30 with the plea that the groom’s side had taken away her daughter and the SHO was not helping recover her from them. The court ordered the girl’s recovery and fixed the matter for May 7.
Faizullah and Saifullah, sensing gravity of the situation, had surrendered themselves before the Umerkot police on April 26 and stated that they had no knowledge about the girl’s whereabouts.
On Wednesday (May 2), a retired police head constable, Muharram Baloch, appeared at the Pinyari cop shoppe along with Amisha and claimed that he had ’found’ her near Tando Allahyar road.
The questions that to whom the girl was handed over by the SHO and how she reached a place far away from her house in Umerkot remained a mystery.
Ghulam Nabi Shah, a cousin of the two suspects, on Thursday revealed that an [unspecified] amount of money was involved in the whole episode. He claimed that the girl’s parents had taken a loan from the Pallis and hinted that the matter of the girl’s engagement/marriage was linked with the same loan. He named some "characters" supposedly involved in the episode. He claimed that Amisha’s parents, who served as peasants of the Pallis, were not in a position to repay the loan and, therefore, had agreed to the [compensatory] marriage proposal.
Ghulam Nabi Shah alleged that the "characters" instigated the bride’s side to demand Rs5 million from his cousins after the matter was highlighted and police were involved. He claimed that his cousins, at one stage, even agreed to settle the matter for Rs2m.
Taking notice of the matter, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) A.D. Khowaja on Thursday ordered that Amisha be given in jug of the Hyderabad police and a thorough investigation into the episode be conducted.

Yet another 'Islamic Romance'... nothing to see here... move along now...
[DAWN] A local court on Thursday indicted five suspects in Qandeel Baloch’s murder case.
Among those indicted are her two brothers and holy man Mufti Abdul Qavi.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Sardar Iqbal Dogar read out the charge sheet to the suspects after he resumed the hearing of the case. The suspects, however, pleaded not guilty "Wudn't me." Mufti Abdul Qavi, Qandeel’s brothers Muhammad Wasim and Aslam Shaheen, Abdul Basit (a cab driver) and Haq Nawaz (cousin) were indicted and the court fixed May 14 the next date of hearing.
On July 15, 2016, Qandeel Baloch was strangled to death by her brother Waseem and cousin Haq Nawaz in the name of ’honour’. Waseem was placed in durance vile Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try! by police in Dera Ghazi Khan later that night and he confessed to killing her sister at a presser.
Qavi was arrested on Oct 18, 2017 after a court rejected an extension to his pre-arrest bail. Police declared Qavi a suspect in the case on the request of Muhammad Azeem, the father of Qandeel Baloch.
Azeem alleged that his daughter was killed on Mufti Qavi’s orders and that the holy man had offered him money to drop charges against him.
Qavi was granted bail in November 2017 on a surety bond of Rs200,000.
[DAWN] Three men were handed 10-year prison sentences on Friday after a court found them guilty of gang raping a mentally challenged woman in the village of Muhammad Yusaf Khoso near Badin in September 2017.
The victim's father Khair Muhammad Khoso in a first information report had said the men had gang raped his mentally challenged daughter while she was busy collecting fodder for their livestock.
Abdul Wahab Tunio, the second additional sessions judge at the Badin Sessions Court, convicted Ali Nawaz Mallah, Abdul Wahid Mallah and Muhammad Soomar Mallah on the crime.
After the verdict was read out, all three convicts were sent to Central Jail Hyderabad to serve their sentences.
NEW YORK/TEGUCIGALPA (Reuters) - The Trump administration said on Friday it will end temporary protections for immigrants in the United States from Honduras on Jan. 5, 2020, leaving potentially 57,000 people vulnerable to deportation.
It is the latest in a series of decisions by President Donald Trump to shut down temporary protected status (TPS) granted to immigrants after natural disasters or violent conflicts that would prevent them from safely returning to their home countries.
The government of Honduras said on Friday that it “profoundly regrets the cancellation of the program” and pledged free legal and consular support for Hondurans living in the United States.
Marlon Tabora, the Honduras ambassador to the United States, said the conditions did not exist in the Central American country to deal with the repatriation of tens of thousands of people.
“These families have lived in the United States for 20 years and re-integrating them into the country will not be easy if they decide to return,” he said.
Participants in a year-long study who doubted the scientific consensus on the issue "opposed policy solutions," but at the same time, they "were most likely to report engaging in individual-level, pro-environmental behaviors," writes a research team led by University of Michigan psychologist Michael Hall.
Conversely, those who expressed the greatest belief in, and concern about, the warming environment "were most supportive of government climate policies, but least likely to report individual-level actions."
Hall and his colleagues can only speculate about the reasons for their results. But regarding the concerned but inactive, the psychological phenomenon known as moral licensing is a likely culprit. Not just environment. In my experience most leftist (except the very young) are dishonest and exploitative of other people - that's, IMO, why leftism is so ubiquitous in academia.
Yes, just not the environment. They also believe they're entitled to rape because they say the 'right things' and identify with the 'right community'. Of course, they crucify any one else who isn't in their political tribe for the same actions.
[San Diego Union-Tribune] A Chula Vista school mural that depicts the bloody, severed head of President Donald Trump on a spear sparked a controversy that prompted officials to cover it and issue a response distancing themselves from the work. (N.B.: Born and raised in CV - never grew up)
The statement also said the artist will alter the painting.
"We understand that there was a mural painted at the event this past weekend that does not align with our school's philosophy of non-violence," read the statement from MAAC Community Charter School director Tommy Ramirez. "We have been in communication with the artist ‐ who has agreed to modify the artwork - to better align with the school's philosophy." which is...?
The event Ramirez referred to was the annual Battlegroundz, a scholarship fundraiser held during the last weekend of April.
During the fundraiser, students and invited artists paint murals that highlight urban art in an alley behind the school.
After receiving complaints about the mural from the community and coverage about it from KUSI, the school had covered it with black plastic by Wednesday. On Friday, it appeared to be covered by plywood, with a vehicle parked in front of it.
Baluca said Battlegroundz attracts amateur and professional artists from around the world. Artist Sasha Andrade painted the part of the mural with Trump. She could not be reached Friday.
The mural depicts three warriors, each with different types of dress. One appears to be holding a human heart and another wears a leopard headdress and is holding a spear. At its end is the severed head of Trump, with the spear's tip protruding from his mouth. Preaching violence to children? A "Raza Mosque"?
The piece is certainly colourful, and chock full of the kind of references many art professors like, but overall it feels pretentious and overambitious.
While school officials said Andrade has agreed to change the painting, she was defiant and proud of it on Facebook post earlier this week. So, not chagrined or ashamed
Her Facebook banner is a picture of her painting the mural, and on May 2 she posted a photo of the mural with the message, "They can try to #censor it but here it is guys!!!! " Hashtags in the message included "#urwelcome" and "#freedomofexpression."
She also has her share of detractors. On Twitter, a woman who goes by "Adorable Deplorable" called on the Secret Service to arrest Andrade for threatening the president.
The school is open to all San Diego County students 14-24 years old and is chartered by Sweetwater Union High School District. It serves 300 students. My old high school district. W.T.F.??
Be more cautious, Betty. I think your view is based on misunderstanding these people. Most are not persons of deep convictions. They just go with the flow, and use it to work out their frustrations - and they are very frustrated because, deep down inside, they know themselves to be second raters.
The term you are looking for is psyops conditioning:
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
You are welcome!
[Breitbart] President Trump is ending temporary amnesty for about 50,000 Honduran nationals who have been allowed to stay in the United States since 1999.
In a statement by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Trump administration announced that they will officially end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Honduran nationals allowed to stay in the U.S. after nearly two decades following a hurricane in Honduras.
More than 85,000 Honduran nationals have used TPS to stay in the U.S., but only 50,000 still remain in the country. The new directive by the Trump administration will give those Honduran nationals about 18 months to return to Honduras or face deportation.
DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said in a statement:
The decision to terminate TPS for Honduras was made after a review of the environmental disaster-related conditions upon which the country’s original 1999 TPS designation was based and an assessment of whether those originating conditions continue to exist, as required by statute. Based on careful consideration of available information, including recommendations received as part of an inter-agency consultation process, the Secretary determined that the disruption of living conditions in Honduras from Hurricane Mitch that served as the basis for its TPS designation has decreased to a degree that it should no longer be regarded as substantial. Thus, as required under the applicable statute, the current TPS designation must be terminated.
Since 1999, conditions in Honduras that resulted from the hurricane have notably improved. Additionally, since the last review of the country’s conditions in October 2016, Honduras has made substantial progress in post-hurricane recovery and reconstruction from the 1998 Hurricane Mitch.
DHS officials say the 18-month delay before Honduran nationals are eligible for deportation is to allow for "an orderly transition" and give Honduras time "to prepare for the return and reintegration of its citizens."
Trump has made a substantial effort to gradually return foreign nationals given temporary amnesty through the TPS program back to their native countries.
Temporary amnesties granted to foreign national populations are often renewed for decades by administrations even though the original intent of the TPS program is to be temporary and not permanent.
Most recently, Trump has ended TPS for 1,000 Liberian nationals, Sudanese nationals, 300,000 Central Americans and Haitians, and 200,000 El Salvadorians.
