Undocumented Driver Gets Federal Charge Tacked on for Three Deaths
A federal charge has been filed against the illegal immigrant who is accused of causing a triple-fatal accident near Wylie [TX] two weeks ago.

According to law enforcement officials, Margarito Quintero, who already facing a state charge for the March 31st accident that killed a Nevada [TX] Firefighter and his two kids, now faces an additional federal charge.

A complaint filed in Sherman [TX] federal court says Quintero was illegally in the country when he was behind the wheel of a van that crossed Highway 78 causing the head-on wreck that killed the three family members. Quintero had been deported once before in 2008, but he illegally came back.
So he's got two voter registration cards?
According to Department of Public Safety records, Quintero did not have a valid drivers license when he caused the deadly accident.
He didn't have two Wheaties boxtops? How about the two voter ID cards?

US Defense Contractor 'Triple Canopy' Turns Up In Panama Papers
[Daily Caller] Major U.S. defense contractor Triple Canopy has just been implicated in the Panama Papers, a trove of 11.5 million leaked documents on offshore tax structures from the fourth largest law firm in the world.

Ignacio Balderas, the former CEO of Triple Canopy, in 2010 told a watchdog commission created by Congress that defense contracting companies are an important aid to the Pentagon because they provide extra accountability, Fusion reports. In other words, U.S.-owned companies involved in the contracting industry are far superior to foreign-owned companies, since the latter "avoid paying U.S. taxes, avoid U.S. criminal investigations and jurisdiction, and avoid having to appear before Congress."
'Appear before Congress'....to possibly include the Senate Select Committee On Intelligence (SSCI) or the House Permanent Select Committee On Intelligence (HPSCI). Taxes are of little concern however, those are all factored into the contract.
The only problem is that two weeks before Balderas’ testimony before the commission, Triple Canopy took over Edinburgh International, using a shell company Trifecta International Holdings to make the purchase. With this business structure intact, Triple Canopy had the ability to step around accountability measures that apply to U.S. companies, an analysis from Fusion reveals. Edinburgh International is based out of Dubai and runs several of its operations through shell companies in the British Virgin Islands.

Mossack Fonseca, the law firm which suffered the leak of 11.5 million documents, registered those companies. Police have since raided the law firm.

#2  Next shoes to fall will be Aegis (Brit run), then Dyncorp, Blackwater and their past and present permutations. After that, what will the Pentagon do if they want to run their black ops?

Feds: TVA executive traded nuclear information for cash in Chinese espionage case
[KNOXNEWS] An East Tennessean who served as a senior manager in the Tennessee Valley Authority's nuclear program swapped information with one of China's top nuclear power companies in exchange for cash, according to federal court records unsealed Thursday.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Knoxville on Thursday announced an espionage conspiracy indictment against China General Nuclear Power, Chinese nuclear engineer Szuhsiung "Allen" Ho, and Ho's firm, Energy Technology International. Prosecutors said Ho conspired with the companies to lure nuclear experts in the U.S. into providing information to allow China to develop and produce nuclear material based on American technology and under the radar of the U.S. government.

Ho was taken into custody in Atlanta on Thursday afternoon and will be returned to U.S. District Court in Knoxville to face the two-count indictment. The indictment consists of one count of conspiracy to illegally engage and participate in the production and development of special nuclear material outside the U.S. and one count of conspiracy to act in the U.S. as an agent of a foreign government.

Berlin Airport PR chief fired for calling project 'shit show’
[THELOCAL.DE] The new spin doctor for Berlin’s embarrassingly delayed new airport found honesty doesn’t pay in his business on Monday, after just three months in the job.

Berlin's new international airport was supposed to be the jewel in the crown of the reunited and reinvigorated German capital.

But the building project has become a by-word for administrative ineptitude, as delays, construction failures and a botched attempt at privatization have pushed the planned opening back by years.

The state governments of Berlin and Brandenburg are also likely to have to pay out millions in compensation to airlines which planned their businesses around a 2011 opening.

However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
the project’s PR chief discovered the hard way on Monday that, despite all this being common knowledge, it doesn’t pay for someone on the inside to admit to it.

In an interview with PR Magazine, Daniel Abbou made the bleeding obvious observation that there is no chance the building project will be considered a success story.

"The old managers of the project messed up too much for that to be the case, too many billions of euros have been wasted," he said. "What we can do is create a sense of transparency."

And it didn’t end there. Abbou, who has been in the job since January, became ever more pointed in his criticism.

"Up until now official statements always said that the project was going well. That’s bullshit. Take responsibility when something has been a shit show," he said.

Speaking about a mooted opening in 2017, Abbou also cast doubt on the assurances of his bosses that this target could be met.

"Believe me, no politician or airport director, no person who is not addicted to pills, would give you definitive assurances for this airport."

Clearly, Abbou’s bosses at the airport were less than impressed with his call for openness.

Britain
Corbyn Makes U.K. Labour Case to Stay in EU, `Warts and All'
[BLOOMBERG] U.K. opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn said his Labour Party is "overwhelmingly" in favor of staying in the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, making his most detailed intervention to date before voters head to the polls on June 23 for a referendum on Britannia’s membership.

Britannia will be better placed to deal with issues from climate change and tax avoidance to terrorism and the refugee crisis by staying in the 28-nation bloc, Corbyn said Thursday in a speech in London, as opponents of membership braced for a possible legal challenge that could distract from their campaign.

"Collective international action through the European Union is clearly going to help meeting these vital challenges," Corbyn said. "The Labour Party is overwhelmingly for staying in, because we believe the European Union has brought investment, jobs and protection for workers, consumers and the environment, and offers the best chance of meeting the challenges we face in the 21st century."

The Labour leader made the case to remain as Leave.EU, one of the groups opposing British membership, was scheduled to make an announcement at noon on whether it will seek a legal challenge of the Electoral Commission’s decision to designate another organization, Vote Leave, the official lead campaigner. Arron Banks, a co-founder of Leave.EU, said Wednesday that he might seek a judicial review of the decision and warned it could lead to the vote being delayed until October, a claim rejected by the prime minister’s office. The noon deadline passed without any announcement.

Nick the Mad threatens to cut opposition legislature's term
Venezuela's insane socialist leader Nicolas Maduro threatened on Thursday to seek a constitutional amendment to slash the opposition-led legislature's term and vowed to lead a "revolution" should his foes wrest him from the presidency.

The socialist leader's strong words deepened the already bitter political standoff in the OPEC member nation since the opposition coalition won control of the National Assembly in a December vote and vowed to seek Maduro's exit this year.
It's time for the knife-fight to begin...
During a rally, pro-government constitutional lawyer Hermann Escarra proposed that Maduro seek a constitutional amendment to reduce the assembly's term from five years to 60 days.

"I'll look at it very seriously," Maduro said, to cheers from several thousand red-clad supporters demonstrating against an assembly law intended to free jailed opposition activists. "And if I see the possibility of clearing away coup-mongering and the use of the National Assembly, I myself would activate it if the people support me."

In an overt conflict of powers, the government-leaning Supreme Court has been shooting down assembly motions, while the national election board is dragging its feet over the opposition's desire to hold a recall referendum this year.

Should Maduro propose a constitutional amendment to shorten legislators' term, that too would have to go to a national vote.

Maduro, 53, who won election in 2013 to succeed his mentor Hugo Chavez, constantly accuses the opposition and the United States of seeking a coup. He also accuses his foes of an "economic war", though critics say failed socialist policies are at the root of Venezuela's deep recession and acute shortages.

"I'm going to say something strong," Maduro added.

"If they one day win power due to their non-conventional, economic war, due to violence, then the Bolivarian revolutionary movement and the Venezuelan people would take to the street in general insurrection ... Another revolution would start, I tell the oligarchy. And I would lead it!"
I certainly hope you do. In a bright red uniform...
Earlier in the day, government supporters and opposition activists exchanged punches and kicks, and stones were thrown, when coalition leaders gathered at the election board to seek paperwork for requesting the recall referendum.

The opposition said a journalist and legislator were injured, and blamed an "ambush" by Maduro supporters trying to derail a recall referendum.

"The government is not illiterate, it can read the polls, it knows it wouldn't win any election - not even a carnival queen contest!" coalition head Jesus Torrealba said.

China-Japan-Koreas
Is North Korea finally close to collapse?
[DW] For decades, politicians, policy experts and analysts have been predicting the imminent implosion of the North Korean regime, either as a result of economic collapse, external pressures, or a military coup to replace the Kim family as hereditary head of state.
The experts only have to be right once...
Some have even gone so far to suggest that internal pressures were close to the point at which a popular uprising might occur, similar to the one that deposed Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaucescu in 1989.

Yet, successive members of the Kim clan have defied the crises and predictions to cling on to power.

Today, however, North Korea faces arguably the toughest test of "juche," its official political ideology of self-reliance that was dreamed up by Kim Il-sung, the first head of the nation and grandfather of present leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
There are some who believe that Kim Jong-un - young and inexperienced in his role - has made too many mistakes since he inherited the nation in December 2011, and alienated too many of the people close to the regime that he should have looked to for support and advice.

Equally, his people are growing increasingly aware of life beyond North Korea's borders, thanks to mobile communications and movies from South Korea and the West that are smuggled into the country.

And in trying to be the "strong man" of northeast Asia, and demanding respect through tests of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, Kim has even forced former allies to reassess their relationships with Pyongyang.

On April 9, the South Korean government announced that 13 employees of a North Korean restaurant in China had defected to Seoul. Rah Jong-yil, a former head of South Korean intelligence, said 13 defectors might not appear significant, but he believes it is an indicator of things to come.

"This is a very revealing development and, I believe, shows us the state of the morale of people in Pyongyang," he told DW.

McDonald's workers rally in Times Square for $15 minimum wage
[MONEY.CNN] Hundreds of raucous protesters, including striking Verizon employees, converged on a McDonald's restaurant in Times Square Thursday demanding a $15-an-hour minimum wage for fast food workers.

"What do we want? 15! If we don't get it? Shut it down!" chanted the protesters at dawn, bathed in neon light from the restaurant and Times Square billboards.

The crowd of about 300 protesters included a marching band and dancers. A pair of protesters dressed like the Hamburglar carried an outsized effigy of Ronald McDonald outside the restaurant as several McDonald's (MCD) customers sipped coffee and watched.

#3  ...In the early 80s, the shipyard where my Dad worked from '65 on was hit by an increasingly long series of strikes. The union proudly stated that they were demanding an eventual 4-day work week with (what would have been) a 25 to 40% pay raise, and would keep striking till they got it.

The yard is a marina today. Dad literally turned out the lights in the office.

(PUNCHLINE: The loathsome SEN Howard Metzenbaum tried to get the Justice Department to order the owners to REOPEN the yards on the grounds that closing it was 'unfair'.)

Europe
Legal opinion finds Erodgan 'smear poem' not criminal
[THELOCAL.DE] There was good news for satirist Jan Böhmermann on Thursday, as broadcaster ZDF published a legal opinion claiming a "smear poem" he directed at The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's President was within the bounds of the law.

Lawyers hired by broadcaster ZDF ‐ home to Böhmermann's weekly TV show Neo Magazin Royale ‐ said that the satirist was within his rights to insult President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
crudely.

Böhmermann has been under police protection at his home in Cologne
...a lovely city in Germany. They invented perfume there...
this week as Erdogan launched an official complaint to the German government under a little-used law banning insults against foreign heads of state.

Erdogan has also launched a private legal proceeding against the TV comic, who among many insults called Erdogan a "goat fucker" who "watches child porn while kicking Kurds" in the poem, which Böhmermann acknowledged deliberately played with the boundaries of permissible speech.

The lawyers said the poem was clearly intended as a comment on Erdogan's angry reaction to a satirical song from comedy show Extra 3 the previous week ‐ not as a direct attack on his honour.

As such, it was within the bounds of satire defended under the German constitution ‐ although it did not live up to internal quality and taste regulations at ZDF.

It will be welcome news for Böhmermann supporters inside and outside the broadcaster, who have been calling for the government to reject Turkey's call to pursue Böhmermann and for the poem to be made available online again after ZDF took it down.

While that second objective looks unlikely to be fulfilled, the legal opinion will be further ammunition in what many see as a battle to defend free speech in Germany against outside interference.

And it will amplify criticism of the German government's slowness in deciding whether to go ahead with prosecution against Böhmermann.

Koshinan: Reporting Illegals Would '€˜Discourage' Them from Paying Taxes
[PJ] WASHINGTON -- IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told a congressional committee Wednesday that a flat tax would save the IRS "a lot" of money in its annual budget, calling it a "sea change" in the way the agency would operate.

Koskinen also explained that every individual who files a tax return using an individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) and not a Social Security number is not an illegal immigrant.

He cautioned the committee that reporting illegal immigrants to other federal agencies would "discourage" them from paying taxes.

According to the IRS website, the agency "issues ITINs to foreign nationals and others who have federal tax reporting or filing requirements and do not qualify for Social Security numbers (SSNs). A non-resident alien individual not eligible for a SSN who is required to file a U.S. tax return only to claim a refund of tax under the provisions of a U.S. tax treaty needs an ITIN."

Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) asked Koskinen if he thinks the U.S. has a tax system that treats individuals fairly.
