Fentanyl deaths in L.A. County soared 1,280% between 2016 and 2021 - as mother of teenage son who died after an overdose warns drug is 'killing everyone and anyone'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • A new report by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health revealed there were 1,504 deaths in LA linked to fentanyl in 2021, up from just 109 in 2016

  • Parents who have lost children to fentanyl overdoses are desperately warning the community that no group has been left untouched by the powerful opioid

  • Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid many times more powerful than heroin and is often mixed with cocaine and other stimulants

  • The city's progressive DA George Gascón said it is time to assess what has not worked about the government's drug policies

Texas officials giving Narcan to Austin bars as fentanyl deaths surge: 'Public health crisis'
[FoxNews] Travis County, Texas, which includes Austin, is planning to give Narcan to local bars to combat the rise in drug overdoses.
Well, it's Austin so that can't be too bad.
Travis County Judge Andy Brown joined "Fox & Friends" Wednesday to discuss the county tackling the overdoses and how fentanyl has affected the area.

"Nobody should die because of an addiction and because of those numbers that you just pointed out to us in Travis County, that's exactly what's happening there are people dying of preventable overdose deaths," said Brown.
The whole point of illegal drugs is that there are no purity controls. None of the users would be at risk if they just chose not to indulge.
Brown declared a public health crisis in May as a result of the overdoses.

"When I first heard of these numbers from the medical examiner, I declared a public health crisis in Travis County, said Brown.

"We put almost half a million dollars towards securing more Narcan and naloxone for the community and also investing in peer counselors to help people in this situation."

Brown also pushed for the state of Texas to legalize fentanyl testing strips.

"Fentanyl is increasingly in drugs of all sorts. People take drugs and they don't know fentanyl is in it. Some people do seek out fentanyl. But what we're seeing, I think, is a lot of people taking it unknowingly."

"We need to make sure that Narcan and naloxone is available everywhere. If it's in a bar, for example, and they see someone overdosing right there, then they can get this lifesaving medication to them quicker than an ambulance would," he told Ainsley Earhardt.

US air marshals plot 'mutiny' against Biden plan to leave flights unprotected
[WashingtonExaminer] U.S. air marshals are planning to stage an open rebellion against the Biden administration over a plan that would strip 99% of commercial flights from federal protection as people take to the skies during the busiest time of the year for air travel .

Dozens of federal air marshals have agreed to refuse a Biden administration order that they leave their assignments and go to the southern border , where they will drive, feed, and care for illegal immigrants due to a shortage of Border Patrol agents.
I always thought retired pilots or reserve AF pilots would be good dual function Air Marshals.

What the hell?
What idiot, weird thinking puppet master had him issue that edict? Because Federal Air Marshals are trained to handle a totally different issue, in a totally different environment.

They are NOT Ground Pounders.

Remember, it was Biden's handlers that had him tell INS and Border Security to stand down and apply Catch and Release. Thus allowing over 4.9 MILLION Illegals to flood into the USA, in just 680 days since the Coup seized control.

Palestinian envoy tells UN ‘we’re at the end of the road’ for 2-state solution
The annual posturing in the General Assembly, which has no influence and no power to do anything. Essentially they are commemorating the continued thriving of Israel despite all their best efforts to erase the only Jewish state from the map and from history. Woo hoo!
[IsraelTimes] Riyad Mansour blasts United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
partition plan on its 75th anniversary; Israeli representative unveils display on ’Jewish Nakba’

The General Assembly later passed a series of four pro-Paleostinian items, including one "noting with deep regret" the UN partition plan adopted on November 29, 1947, and "the Nakba." Another item called for a Nakba commemoration event at the General Assembly Hall next year. A fifth resolution calling on Israel to withdraw from the Golan Heights also passed.

The Paleostinians refer to Israel’s establishment as the Nakba, or "catastrophe," referring to the displacement that Paleostinians experienced during the Jewish state’s War of Independence in 1948-1949.

The partition plan adopted by the General Assembly in 1947 called for independent Jewish and Arab states in what was then British-controlled Mandatory Paleostine. The Jews accepted the plan, but the Arab world rejected it and launched the 1948 war. The Paleostinians have rejected additional offers of statehood since.

Israel’s UN representative, Gilad Erdan, presented an opposing story on Wednesday by unveiling an exhibit at the UN on the "Jewish Nakba," the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Jews from Arab countries and Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
in the 1940s and 1950s following the partition plan.

"For 75 years, the UN has been telling a completely false story about the ’Nakba,’ which the Paleostinians themselves caused by their refusal to accept the Partition Plan," Erdan said. "I will fight in every way the false narrative that the Paleostinians spread at the UN."

The exhibit features documentation about the lives of Jews in Middle Eastern countries and will be on display for a week at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Speaking to the General Assembly after Mansour, Erdan decried the "Nakba Day" resolution.

"Try to imagine the international community commemorating your country’s Independence Day by calling it a disaster. What a disgrace," Erdan said.

"This General Assembly, this body, voted to adopt Resolution 181 — the Partition Plan. My people, the Jewish people, accepted this resolution without hesitation. But the Arabs and the Paleostinians did not," Erdan said. "Five Arab armies, together with the Arabs living in Israel, tried to destroy and annihilate us."

On Tuesday, the UN held an event marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Paleostinian People.

crossings.

Guterres and other speakers focused on Israeli forces in the West Bank, and did not mention Paleostinian terrorism, the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terror group, Israeli security concerns or Israeli victims of violence.
Another Times of Israel article has the details about the resolutions and votes:
The United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday voted to adopt a pro-Palestinian resolution to commemorate the “Nakba,” the Palestinian term for Israel’s establishment.

The UN resolution calls for a “commemoration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Nakba, including by organizing a high-level event at the General Assembly Hall” in May 2023. It also urges the “dissemination of relevant archives and testimonies.”

The initiative was sponsored by Egypt, Jordan, Senegal, Tunisia, Yemen and the Palestinians and passed by a vote of 90 in favor, 30 against and 47 abstentions.

Israel, Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK and the US were among the countries that voted against.

Ukraine did not vote. Kyiv sparked a diplomatic spat with Jerusalem by voting in favor of an anti-Israel resolution earlier this month.

Arab and Muslim states Israel has ties with voted in favor, including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Sudan and the United Arab Emirates.

The General Assembly Nakba item was one of several similar resolutions put forward during the meeting on the “Question of Palestine.”

Another resolution said it was “noting with deep regret the passage of 55 years since the onset of the Israeli occupation” and 75 years since the UN partition plan and “the Nakba” with no resolution to the conflict.

UNRWA condemns subterranean opening found beneath Gaza school
[IsraelTimes] UN agency for Paleostinians says hidden excavation violated law and endangered children; organization’s buildings have been used to hide terror tunnels and weapons in the past

The UN agency for Paleostinians said on Wednesday that it had discovered a "man-made cavity" underneath a school in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. , calling the excavation a breach of law and a threat to children and staff.

The United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
Relief and Works Agency, known as UNRWA, said in a statement that it had "recently identified a man-made cavity underneath the grounds of an UNRWA school in Gaza."

"The agency protested strongly to the relevant authorities in Gaza to express outrage and condemnation of the presence of such a structure underneath one of its installations," the statement said.

The excavation "is a serious violation of the agency’s neutrality and a breach of international law. Moreover, it exposes children and agency staff to significant security and safety risks," UNRWA said.

The agency said it had immediately cordoned off the area and permanently sealed the cavity.

It wasn’t clear whether the excavation was a tunnel linked to other underground passages or if there were weapons stored inside. UNRWA did not respond to a request for further information.

The Gaza-ruling Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, terrorist regime has dug an extensive network of tunnels under Gaza, which are used to move its forces or store weapons, including rockets and launchers.

Israel has long charged Hamas with hiding weapons and infrastructure in tunnels around schools, hospitals and residential buildings, and tunnels and weapons have been found at UNRWA schools in the past.

During fighting in 2021 between Israel and Gaza terrorists, a tunnel was found underneath an UNRWA school. The IDF also determined that the courtyard of at least one Gaza school — it was not clear if it belonged to UNRWA — housed 14 underground rocket launchpads, which it said were used during the fighting.

Hamas prevented UN bomb disposal experts from inspecting the UNRWA school under which the tunnel was found last year.

In 2020, UNRWA found a hand grenade and military vest in one of its Gaza schools.

In 2017, the agency said it had found a Hamas tunnel dug underneath one of its schools.

During Operation Protective Edge in 2014, rockets were found in UNRWA schools on several occasions. In one of those cases, a spokesperson said the organization had delivered the rockets to "local authorities." Israeli officials charged that the weaponry was returned to Hamas.

As schools in Gaza have regularly been used as refugee centers during times of conflict, the IDF’s official policy is to avoid striking them unless necessary.

UNRWA provides social services, education and health care to millions of Paleostinians and is a major employer in the territories.

Israel has long pushed for UNRWA’s closure, arguing that it helps perpetuate the conflict with the Paleostinians since it confers refugee status upon descendants of those originally displaced around the time of Israel’s War of Independence, unlike other refugee groups around the world.

The agency has also been found to employ antisemitic staffers and use textbooks deemed antisemitic and inciteful.

Wednesday’s announcement came as the UN General Assembly passed a series of resolutions in support of Paleostinians at an event marking 75 years since the UN partition plan. The resolutions were condemned by Israel as "absurd."

A day earlier, the UN marked the International Day of Solidarity with the Paleostinian People at its headquarters in New York.

President of the UN General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi called for increased support for UNRWA at the event, saying the agency was short $600 million in funding.
