#7  Successful societies create abundance, abundance creates tolerance, tolerance creates lessened expectations, lessened expectations creates inferior performance, inferior performance creates resentment , resentment creates anger anger creates resentment, we are now locked in the death spiral condition of race relations in America today. Plenty of blame to go around but the root cause was the decline of shame and the paternalism of thr 1950’ civil right efforts.
Consider how ashamed our grandparents of every color would be by the shambles of present day American society.

Afghanistan
Taliban Sought Release of Prisoners Before Istanbul Talks: Source
[ToloNews] The Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
reportedly asked the US on Tuesday to ensure the release of its prisoners and the removal of UN sanctions on the Taliban’s leaders in exchange for the participation of the group in the The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
conference, sources close to the group have told TOLOnews.

The UN-led Afghan peace conference in Turkey was scheduled to take place on April 24, but now the summit has been postponed over non-participation by the Taliban.

Turkey, UN, US and Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
made several attempts in the past to convince the Taliban to ensure their participation in the conference, but the efforts did not yield an outcome.

Ottoman Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday tweeted that the conference had been postponed for after the Eid al-Fitr.

"We have consulted with Qatar, the US and the UN," Ottoman Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Wednesday. "We have decided to postpone the Istanbul Conference on the Afghanistan grinding of the peace processor after Eid a l-Fitr."

"It was good if the release of these 7,000 prisoners was made conditional on a ceasefire...if they accept the ceasefire—when these prisoners are released, then no war is there for them to fight," said Mohammad Omar Daudzai, President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money...
’s special envoy for Pakistain.

Pakistain reportedly also made attempts to influence the Taliban to attend the Turkey conference, but the efforts failed.

"Tomorrow their (Pakistain) high level military and political delegation will visit Kabul and we will have deep discussions with them about improving bilateral ties," said Daudzai.

This comes as violence continues to grip Afghanistan with dozens killed and maimed on daily basis.

"I want to say to the Taliban that this country has been devastated because of your war, so return to the talks and make an agreement," said Qazi Mohammad Amin Weqad, the former deputy head of the high council of peace.

The Istanbul conference has been delayed two times due to the denial of the Taliban.

The Taliban have been insisting that the US first needs to implement the Doha agreement before the start of the Istanbul conference, meaning that the US needs to honor its agreement signed under the Trump administration to withdraw all US troops from Afghanistan by May 1.

The Afghan government on Tuesday said the list of a republic delegation for the conference has been finalized.

A high-level Afghan government official who spoke on condition of anonymity told TOLOnews that there is the possibility that a 15- or 17-member team will represent the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan at the conference scheduled for April 24.

The High Council of National Reconciliation (HCNR) also confirmed the finalization of the republic's negotiating team.

US May Rely on New Bases Near Afghanistan for Future Ops
[ToloNews] The United States Central Command as well as American diplomats are working on plans with countries in the region on agreements to base troops and aircraft for counterterrorism operations in Afghanistan after all forces are withdrawn from the country.

Quoted in a report by Air Force Magazine, Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr., the commander of the US Central Command, said told the House Armed Services Committee on Tuesday that the command is going through "detailed planning" on what future operational plans and force laydowns could be after the withdrawal, which will be completed by Sept. 11.

According to the report, future counterterrorism operations will require ways to surveil targets in Afghanistan if needed, including with the use of overhead intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft operating from outside of the country.

Quoting US diplomats and military officials, The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported that possibilities in the region include Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

US forces would then need to "finish" those targets through multiple options, including long-range fires and "targeted raids—although those are inherently dangerous, but you could still do it," McKenzie said, adding that "You could do it with manned aircraft. There are problems with all three of those options, but there’s also opportunities with all three of those options."

Without a presence in the country, it will be "extremely difficult to do, but it is not impossible to do it," he said.

Gen. McKenzie said there are ongoing discussions in Afghanistan for a status of forces agreement and what the size of the US embassy would be after the withdrawal.

He added that it would be "helpful" if the US can maintain the embassy in Kabul because the presence will assist in the ability to "see into Afghanistan."

In response to questions, McKenzie made it clear that the Sept. 11, 2021, deadline to withdraw from the country is more than just US and coalition military members.

US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
has announced that the United States will withdraw its remaining 2,500 troops from Afghanistan by Sept. 11.

Arab League, UN, EU and AU Demand Foreign Forces Leave Libya
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] The Arab League

on Tuesday demanded an immediate withdrawal of all foreign forces from Libya.

In a statement after a videoconference by its leaders, the Libya Quartet demanded "full compliance with the arms embargo and the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from the entirety of Libya's territory."

The much-violated arms embargo has been in place since 2011, when an uprising toppled longtime Libyan dictator Moamer Qadaffy during the regional upheaval known as the Arab Spring, AFP reported.

The UN estimates that some 20,000 imported muscle, mainly troops from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
and mercenaries from Russia, Syria, Chad and Sudan, are currently deployed in the country.

In recent weeks, the possible departure of Syrian mercenaries has been raised and, this weekend, N'Djamena mentioned the arrival in Chad from Libya of several hundred Chadian mercenaries who may have contributed to the fighting that led to the death of President Idriss Deby.

During its meeting, the Libya Quartet "condemned the continued violations of the UN arms embargo and emphasized that all external military intervention in Libya is unacceptable."

It also called for "the sustained implementation of measures to fully identify and dismantle these groups."

Arabia
US Says Iran Support to Yemen's Houthis 'Significant, Lethal'
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Iran's support for Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
's Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
militias is "quite significant and it's lethal" and there is no real evidence that Tehran wants to support a constructive resolution to the conflict, US special envoy on Yemen Tim Lenderking told US politicians on Wednesday.

"We would welcome Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
playing a constructive role, if they are willing to do so," Lenderking said. "We have not seen any indication of that."

The Houthi offensive in the gas-rich Marib region is "the single biggest threat to peace efforts", Lenderking added, warning that if the fighting is not stopped "it will trigger a wave of even greater fighting and instability."

He acknowledged that it has been difficult to halt ships bearing weapons from Iran to the Houthis.

The US needs more international assistance in halting Iran arms shipment to the militias, Lenderking urged.

Moreover, the envoy said the increase in Houthi cross-border attacks on Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
is "very disturbing trend".

Mexican president wants work visas, citizenship for farmers
[WashingtonPost] Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Monday he will ask U.S. President Joe Biden to give work visas to Mexican farmers who participate in a government tree-planting program.
Remittances™ for planting Pot
López Obrador touted the program as a way to help the United States regulate migration.

The United States “is looking for alternatives because migration is out of control,” López Obrador said. “Instead of seeking to block it with punitive measures, it should be channeled and ordered.”

He wants the United States to grant six-month work visas to farmers who have participated in the paid tree-planting program for three years. He also wants the U.S. to grant citizenship to the farmers after they have spent three years rotating into the U.S. on six-month work visas.
That’s nuts.
López Obrador said he would broach the proposal at climate change talks later this week. López Obrador said Mexico’s contribution to fighting climate change involves renovating old hydroelectric plants as well as the program known as “Planting Life” that pays as many as 400,000 Mexican farmers to plant fruit and timber trees.

Mexico has tried to extend the program to El Salvador and wants the U.S. to help finance an expansion to other Central American countries.

In another climate area, however, López Obrador has drawn criticism from some activists for putting limits on renewable-energy and gas-fired private power plants that compete with the government electricity utility and increasing the burning of heavily polluting fuels like coal and fuel oil.

#20  #16 I'm not sure I agree, P2k. As I see it - there was an immense pressure on African Americans to excel educationally (that being modern criteria for intelligence/intellectualism).
Lets consider an example: George Floyd went to college, couldn't hack it, and started his downward slide. Suppose, instead, he'd went to a vocational-technical school?

Now (before I'm accused of racism) lets turn it around. Suppose the same (guilt-tripping) white majority decided that all Jews should be professional athletes, and exerted a pressure (similar to one applied to blacks) toward this end?

The community is 55% white, 25% Black, and 7% Hispanic, according to Wikipedia:

Columbia began with the idea that a city could enhance its residents' quality of life. Creator and developer James W. Rouse saw the new community in terms of human values, rather than merely economics and engineering. Opened in 1967, Columbia was intended to not only eliminate the inconveniences of then-current subdivision design, but also eliminate racial, religious and class segregation.[6] Columbia has consistently ranked in the top 10 of CNN Money's Best Places to Live in the United States.[7] In 2020, Columbia was ranked as the 5th best place to live in the U.S.[8]

Almost half Black, almost half of the students getting free meals... but all the bells and whistles. Upper middle class tax payer base with a chunk of black and Hispanic kids from the ghetto bussed in because the planned apartment housing did not provide enough poor people. Ms Bree grew up in the neighbourhood, not the apartments or bussed in — she definitely has the look. Those pearly whites did not straighten themselves.

The pressure for college vs vo-tech has the same result for most students who come from poor backgrounds, g(r)omgoru. It isn’t a race thing, though there are those who like to pretend it is, but about economic class and preparation. Because of WWII, my mother had to do three years of high school classes in six months — so of course her math and science classes got short shrift, making it impossible for her to achieve her childhood dream of becoming a chemist like Marie Curie despite having originally been a child of educated professionals.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan Fires Trade Minister in Cabinet Reshuffle
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. fired the country's trade minister Wednesday following allegations that her husband’s company received a tender to sell disinfectants to the ministry.

In a mini Cabinet reshuffle, Erdogan also split the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services into two and appointed new ministers to lead them, according to a decree published in the Official Gazette.

The president named Mehmet Mus, a prominent ruling party politician, as trade minister to replace Ruhsar Pekcan, according to the decree.

According to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named, Pekcan's firing came after Oda TV news website reported that her husband’s company was chosen for the procurement of thousands of liters of disinfectants, allegedly worth 9 million Ottoman Turkish Lira ($1.1 million), to the Trade Ministry. Pekcan denied any wrongdoing, insisting that the company had made the lowest bid.

Zehra Zumrut Selcuk, the former minister for family affairs, labor and social security, was replaced by lawyer Derya Yanik as minister for family affairs and by Vedat Bilgin — an advisor to Erdogan — as minister for labor and social security.

Turkey Seeks Jail Terms for 97 over Student Protests
Totalitarians gotta total.
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Ottoman Turkish prosecutors on Tuesday demanded jail terms for 97 people who joined student protests against President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

According to Anadolu state news agency, the indictment said the suspects defied a ban on rallies imposed as part of measures to combat the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic.

Prosecutors are seeking jail terms from six months to three years because of the suspects’ non-compliance with a law on "unarmed participation in unlawful rallies and refusal to disperse despite the warnings," Anadolu said.

No date was given for the first hearing, according to AFP.

The protest movement — the biggest to rattle Erdogan’s rule in years — kicked off when the Ottoman Turkish leader appointed longstanding ruling party member Melih Bulu as rector of Bogazici University at the start of the year.

The rallies began inside the campus grounds before spreading to the streets of Istanbul and other big cities with the backing of government opponents.

The indictment specifically refers to a February 1 protest in Istanbul in which several groups defied police warnings and rallied outside the university’s locked gate.

Police roughly rounded up 108 people that day.

Ninety-seven of them were later released and a probe was launched against them by the prosecutor’s office, according to the indictment.

How about making it a simple Federal Petty Misdemeanor 1 to 6 months or a $100 to $1000 fine?

Because currently 1 joint can carry a sentence of up to 3 years.

Believe it or not :

I know several people with active Top Secret DOD clearances that cannot purchase a firearm, but can still legally own a firearm in their state.

Because of ATF form 4473 line 21C.
Have you ever been convicted in any court,.... of a felony, or any other crime for which the judge could have imprisoned you for more than one year, even if you received a shorter sentence including probation?

A military source in the Al-Jazeera and Badia Operations Command in Al-Anbar Governorate revealed, on Wednesday, that the Iraqi army forces, directed by the Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, will soon embark on a massive campaign to close the illegal passages on the Iraqi-Syrian border.

The source, who is a colonel in the Army, told Shafaq News Agency that the campaign will be launched within the Al-Tanaf-Albu Kamal axis of Syria and the Iraqi Al-Qaim district," due to the increase of illegal activities, including smuggling of prohibited substances between the two countries.

"The Paleostinian people will not accept any veto by the occupation regarding the participation of our people in Jerusalem in the elections," the statement read.

UN atomic agency: Iran has installed additional advanced centrifuges at Natanz
[IsraelTimes] IAEA records 8 new cascades at underground nuclear site hit in blast blamed on Israel; says Islamic Theocratic Republic planning to add more.

The UN atomic agency on Wednesday said Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has installed additional advanced centrifuges at its Natanz nuclear plant, the site of a recent blast blamed on Israel.

According to a report by the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency, seen by Rooters, Iran added two more cascades of IR-4 centrifuges and six clusters of IR-2m at its underground facility. The IAEA also confirmed that some of the centrifuges were in use and said the Islamic Theocratic Republic plans to install another four cascades of the IR-4 at Natanz.

"On 21 April 2021, the Agency verified at FEP that: ... six cascades of up to 1,044 IR-2m centrifuges; and two cascades of up to 348 IR-4 centrifuges... were installed, of which a number were being used," the report said.

On April 10, Iran announced that it started up far more advanced IR-6 and IR-5 centrifuges that enrich uranium more quickly, in a new breach of its undertakings under the 2015 nuclear agreement. It also said it has began mechanical tests on an even faster nuclear centrifuge: The output of Iran’s IR-9 centrifuge, when operational, would be 50 times quicker than the first Iranian centrifuge, the IR-1. Iran’s nuclear program is also developing IR-8 centrifuges.

Early the next morning, the site was hit in the blast that was declared by Iran to be Israeli sabotage. The explosion is said to have caused considerable damage to the Natanz plant, including its various uranium-enriching centrifuges.

In response to the attack, Iran said it began enriching a small amount of uranium up to 60 percent purity at the site — its highest level ever, and a short step from weapons-grade. The UN atomic agency confirmed the enrichment, saying it was being done in an above-ground facility at Natanz.

The head of the country’s atomic agency said Tuesday that power has been restored at Natanz and uranium enrichment activities there have been renewed. Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, was cited by the official IRNA news agency as saying that "the cables damaged in the accident were speedily replaced and... the main power supply to the Natanz enrichment facility [is] now connected to the grid."

Salehi told politicians during a parliamentary committee meeting that "thanks to the timely measures taken, enrichment in Natanz never stopped, even when the main power cable was cut," according to the report.

IISS warns of Iran supplying proxies in Iraq and other countries with Ballistics and UAV
[SHAFAQ] A report by the International Institute of Strategic Studies warned of Iran’s expanding arsenal of Ballistic missiles, UAVs, and cruise missiles, calling for scrutinizing Iran's battle force beyond its nuclear program and its proxies' willingness to use Iranian weapons against its enemies when it is too cautious about doing it by itself.
Biden's new old Partners For Peace
The Britannia-based institute's report said, "Iran’s ballistic missile systems, supplemented by cruise missiles and UAVs, are intended not only for deterrence but for battle, including by Iran’s regional partners."

In this new report, the IISS provides a detailed assessment of Iran’s missiles and the manner and purposes for which it has been proliferating them.

In this regard, Hezbollah MP Hassan Ezzeddine said Tuesday that his party is holding talks with all sides over the government formation issue to remove obstacles hindering the formation of a new cabinet capable of facing Lebanon’s severe economic, social and financial crises.

Ezzeddine said the new cabinet must address the people’s needs by adopting reforms to fight corruption.

Assad to Run For Re-Election in May
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
The Scourge of Hama...
on Wednesday submitted documents to run for a third term in an election scheduled for May 26, parliament’s speaker said on state media.

Parliament announced the election on Sunday. Washington and the Syrian opposition have denounced it as a farce designed to cement Assad’s authoritarian rule.

Assad’s family and his Baath party have ruled Syria for five decades with the help of the security forces and the army.

This year is the 10th anniversary of a crackdown on pro-democracy protesters which triggered a civil war that has left much of Syria in ruins, Rooters reported.

The multi-sided conflict has sucked in world powers, killed hundreds of thousands of people and displaced millions more, but is now nearing its end with Assad back in control of most of the country.

Candidates must have lived in Syria for the last 10 years, which prevents opposition figures in exile from standing.
