Somalia's Islamic State affiliate vows support for group's new leader
[Jpost] Somalia's Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
affiliate, one of the most important outposts of the Death Eater group, swore allegiance in a statement on Sunday to the new leader named by the organization following the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Somalia's Province posted pictures on Telegram of around a dozen fighters standing among trees, with a caption saying they were pledging allegiance to Quraishi.

Quraishi was named as the organization's leader on Thursday in an audio message that also confirmed Baghdadi's death and vowed Dire Revenge against the United States. U.S. special forces killed Baghdadi in a raid in northwest Syria.

Almost 90 People Killed During Anti-Government Protests in Ethiopia
[SPUTNIKNEWS] The number of those killed in anti-government protests in Æthiopia has reached 86, and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed urged citizens to confront forces that threaten to impede the country's progress, the ENA news agency reported on Sunday.

"We must stop the forces that are holding back our steps, while we are moving towards our goals," the prime minister said, commenting on the protests.

Ahmed also said that the government will not shy away from responsibility to protect people and their property.

On Thursday, local media reported that at least 78 people had become victims of protests in Æthiopia, and more than 400 people were tossed into the calaboose in connection with the unrest.

Violence in Æthiopia began last week with protests against Ahmed and quickly turned into ethnic festivities. Protests broke out in the capital, Addis Ababa, and in much of Æthiopia’s Oromia region after a Facebook post by activist Jawar Mohammed. He accused security forces of trying to conspire an attack against him at his home, a claim that police officials denied.

US identifies GNA as a trusted partner
[Libya Observer] The US State Department has described the Government of National Accord (GNA) as a "trusted partner in combating terrorism", saying that Washington will continue to cooperate with the GNA, in order to curb the spread of terrorist groups.

In its annual report on terrorism, the state department has said that Libya lacked an overarching law in this regard.

"Libya lacks a comprehensive anti-terrorism law, although the Libyan penal code criminalizes manifestations that threaten national security, including terrorism, encouraging terrorist acts and dealing with funds to support such acts, the report read.

Bangladesh
'Efforts on to bring back killers of Bangabandhu, 4 national leaders'
[Dhaka Tribune] Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the government will further strengthen its diplomatic efforts to bring back the runaway killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders.

"A strong effort is on to bring back the convicted killers, who are hiding abroad. This diplomatic effort will be strengthened further in the days to come," he said yesterday.

Quader, also general secretary of Awami League, made the remarks while talking to news hounds after placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32, marking the Jail Killing Day.

Awami League central leaders, led by Prime Minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and current Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She has been the President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She has once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia show such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums...
, placed the wreath and paid rich tributes to Bangabandhu and the four national leaders -- Tajuddin Ahmad, Syed Nazrul Islam, Captain Mansur Ali and AHM Quamruzzaman.

Quader said the government is facing difficulties in bringing back the runaway killers from the foreign countries as there is no provision of death penalty
in those countries, reports UNB.

"However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
high-level discussions are on with the heads of states and government to fix how they can be brought back," he said.

He said two brutal incidents - the liquidation of Bangabandhu and most of his family members on August 15, and the killings of the four national leaders in 1975 - were intermingled and the outcome of the same conspiracy.

On this day in 1975, the killers of Bangabandhu stormed into the Dhaka Central Jail in the early hours and killed the four national leaders, who led the Liberation War in the absence of Bangabandhu in 1971 and earned victory for the nation.

China-Japan-Koreas
Hong Kong shopping mall clashes end in bloodshed
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Hong Kong anti-government protesters crowded shopping malls in running festivities with police on Sunday, with several suffering bloody wounds a day after parts of the Chinese-ruled city became a battleground after five months of unrest.

A human chain in the upmarket Hong Kong island mall of Cityplaza, in Taikoo Shing, turned into a bloody face-to-face conflict with police, running up and down escalators where families with young children had been window shopping just minutes before.

Police said protesters had vandalized a restaurant after a peaceful chanting of slogans.

Several people were maimed, one man in a white tee-shirt being beaten with sticks by protesters. Another man lay in a pool of blood on the pavement.

Broadcaster RTHK said district councilor Andrew Chiu was among the maimed and that part of his ear had been bitten off. It was not immediately possible to verify the report.

A kitchen knife lay on the ground outside the mall.

"These police are not what they used to be," said Julie, 24, giving police the middle finger. "They come in here and push us around. It is not right."

Europe
Russia Partners with Hungary to Aid Syrian Christians
[Breitbart] Russia and Hungary have agreed to jointly rebuild a monastery in Syria, along with financing a large bakery to provide bread for a whole city, Hungarian foreign minister Peter Szijjarto told public radio on Sunday.

Making reference to a recent visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
to Budapest, Mr. Szijjarto said that Hungary has sought to build cooperation with Russia to protect Christian communities, which he described as "a very serious, tense, international and political" issue.

Both Hungary and Russia have invested extensive resources to ensure the protection of Christians, he said, adding that protecting Christian culture is a top priority for the two nations.

In June 2018, Szijjarto told Breitbart News that the Hungarian government openly reaches out to persecuted Christian communities around the world because "we are a Christian country."

"We are a Christian country and we have to emphasize that because currently, under a mainstream liberal media, if you say so you must be very brave," he said.

"That’s why, very proudly, I want to say again that we are a Christian country and that’s why we have a special responsibility to protect our Christians brothers and sisters all around the world," he continued. "If we don’t protect them, who will protect them? If you don’t speak in favor of them, who will speak in favor of them?"

Hungary has been pressured by the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union to take in more migrants colonists, but the government of Viktor Orbán has pushed back, insisting that they prefer to provide assistance to people where they are rather than bringing them into Hungary.

"We give them financial assistance to be able to get stronger where they have been living. We build schools," Szijjarto told Breitbart. "We take part in covering medical costs of their hospitals. We rebuild their torn down houses. We give them scholarships."

"So, we try to strengthen where they are. You know, they usually ask us [to not encourage] members of the Christian communities to leave their homes. They ask us to help them stay where they have been living for centuries, basically, or even more, and to be stronger there. That’s why we [would] rather help them to get stronger in the places where they have been originally living," he said.

Germany expects drop in asylum applications for 2019
[DW] The number of people applying for asylum in Germany has slowed down, with figures from this year expected to be lower than in 2018, according to a report. The vast majority of applications, however, are rejected.
And are they then sent home? Rejecting them doesn’t count if they aren’t immediately sent home.
Germany has seen fewer new asylum applications this year, with officials expecting 2019 to record fewer new applications than last year, according to a report on Sunday by the Bild am Sonntag newspaper.

Hans-Eckard Sommer, the head of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), told the paper that the office has received around 110,000 new applications so far this year.

"I expect that by the end of the year we'll end up with 140,000 to 145,000 ‐ so even a little less than in 2018," Sommer said.

In 2018, Germany logged around 160,000 new asylum applications.

The number of people seeking protection in Germany has steadily dropped in recent years, after peaking in 2015 following Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslem colonists...
's decision to welcome around 1 million refugees and migrants colonists from mostly Middle Eastern countries.

In the years since, Germany has toughened its migration laws, allowing for quicker deportations, while expanding the powers of police and immigration authorities.

IMMIGRATION CHIEF: MOST 'DON'T HAVE GROUNDS FOR ASYLUM'
Although the figures are down, Sommer voiced frustration with the number of new arrivals.

"Even if the authorities can cope with the current amount, there are still too many people using asylum routes," he said.

According to the BAMF head, only 35 to 38% of asylum applications end up being approved.

"That means almost two-thirds of the people coming to Germany don't have grounds for asylum," he told Bild am Sonntag.

Sommer praised the federal migration office for its role in combating terrorism, saying the office's ability to collect data from asylum-seekers' cell phones has helped.

"Many successes in the fight against terrorism were also brought about by our information," Sommer said, adding that he viewed the BAMF as a "security agency."

In 2017, a new law to speed up deportations enabled the BAMF to examine asylum-seekers' cell phones, tablets and other data storage devices ‐ albeit to determine their identity.

A report from public broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk earlier this year found that although authorities downloaded and saved data from thousands of asylum-seekers' phones and laptops, less than a third had been analyzed.

Of the data that ended up being analyzed, the information proved useless almost two-thirds of the time when it came to determining an applicant's identity.
So they weren’t sent home, wherever home might be, merely not allowed to stay legally? What, then, happened to them?

The Grand Turk
Turkey demands Germany take back 20 captured 'Islamic State' members
[DW] Ottoman Turkish authorities say 20 German "Islamic State" members are in their custody. They want Germany and other European countries to repatriate their citizens, something most have been hesitant to do.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
has demanded that 20 captured German members of "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
" (IS) be repatriated, according to media reports.

"We need the full cooperation and active partnership of our allies in the fight against terrorism," Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
's communications director, Fahrettin Altun, told Germany's Stuttgarter Nachrichten newspaper in an interview published Monday.

According to Altun, four German IS fighters have been captured since the Ottoman Turkish military and allied militia began a cross-border military operation in northeast Syria against Syrian Kurdish-led forces on October 9. Another 16 German nationals who had joined the jihadi terrorist group were already in Ottoman Turkish custody.

On Saturday, Ottoman Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu criticized Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an states for not repatriating imprisoned IS members in Turkey.

"We are not a hotel for IS members from any country," he said.

NEARLY 100 GERMAN IS MEMBERS IMPRISONED: INTERIOR MINISTRY
European states have been wary of repatriating their citizens who went to fight for an IS "caliphate" in Syria and Iraq, fearing a political backlash, complications with gathering evidence to convict them and the risk of Death Eater attacks at home.

Soylu's remarks were directed at several countries ‐ including the Netherlands, Denmark and the United Kingdom ‐ which have moved to strip dual national IS members of their citizenship or refused to repatriate them.

In June, the German parliament approved a change in the law to allow dual nationals to lose their citizenship if they fight for a foreign terrorist militia. The new law would not apply retroactively, meaning those who already joined IS or have been captured won't lose their citizenship.

In all, Turkey wants to send up to 1,300 foreign jihadis to their home countries ‐ many of them to Europe.

In addition to those imprisoned in Turkey, Syrian Kurdish forces are holding around 11,000 IS fighters in prisons in northeast Syria, along with tens of thousands of women and kiddies family members. Around one-fifth of the IS fighters imprisoned by Syrian Kurdish forces in northeast Syria are believed to be European.

According to the German Interior Ministry, more than 80 German IS members are imprisoned in Syria and Iraq. Syrian Kurdish forces and the United States have also demanded European states take back nationals who joined IS.

Turkish bus driver slams into stop, stabs people; 13 injured
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Police in Istanbul say they have detained a driver who rammed his bus into a crowded stop and attacked people who tried to prevent him from escaping with a knife. At least 13 people have been injured.

A police statement said the 33-year-old bus driver was detained on Sunday after he jumped into the sea to try and get away from the scene.

The 13 injured included a man who was stabbed as he tried to prevent him from running away after he drove the city bus into the stop.

Police said three Iranian nationals and two children were also among those injured.

It was not immediately clear whether the man drove the bus into the stop by accident.
Since he followed up by stabbing all within reach, an accident seems unlikely.
Police said an investigation has been launched.

Ridiculous Media Investigates Trump's Claim That al-Baghdadi Was 'Whimpering' And 'Crying' Before His Death
[Townhall] The media's Trump Derangement Syndrome has reached a fever pitch as journalists call President Trump a liar for claiming that ISIS founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was "whimpering" and "screaming" as U.S. forces closed in on him.

The New York Times seemingly interviewed everyone with knowledge about the raid, but they cannot confirm the terrorist was in fact "whimpering and crying and screaming" before his death.

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham responded to the Times report in an email by asking, "Is it not possible to just celebrate that a terrorist, murderer and rapist has been killed?"

CNN anchor Brian Stelter responded to Grisham's question during an interview. "Yes. Of Course. I think it's been very clear for a week there's been a celebration that al-Baghdadi is dead. But it is also possible to expect the president to tell the truth..." Stelter argued.

Trump approves plan to cap refugees at 18,000 in 2020
[DAWN] President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
has signed off on a plan that continues a dramatic drop in the number of refugees taken in by the US to no more than 18,000 in fiscal year 2020.

When the State Department first announced the plan in September religious and humanitarian groups sharply criticised the administration.

In the last full year of the B.O. regime, the refugee ceiling was 85,000. This year, the Trump administration set the limit at 30,000. That number was the lowest since the modern resettlement program's creation in 1980.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo noted that refugee resettlement "is only one aspect of US humanitarian-based immigration efforts". He cited diplomatic efforts to find solutions to crises as well as humanitarian aid.

Political detainees in J&K likely to be shifted in view of approaching winter
[HindustanTimes] As the winter sets in, the Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
administration is looking for an accommodation to shift 34 political detenues from Centaur Hotel here as it lacks proper heating arrangements, officials said.

The winter chill has already started taking a toll on the health of the detenues -- National Conference, PDP and People’s Conference leaders and prominent social activists -- and the security personnel guarding them.

They have been lodged at the hotel on the bank of the scenic Dal Lake since August 5 when the central government announced its decision to abrogate Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 of the Constitution and split the state into two Union territories.

The seat of administration in the newly created Union territory has moved from Srinagar to Jammu for the winter months.

The officials said some measures would be taken soon for shifting the detenues to different locations.

The MLA hostel on Residency Road in the heart of the city could have been an alternative accommodation, but it is now occupied by former MLAs hailing from Jammu and newly elected councillors.

Unwilling to dislodge the former MLAs and councillors, the administration has started looking for a state-run or private hotel for shifting the detenues, they said.

They said talks are on with a private hotel in the high-security cantonment area, where some detenues, including Sajjad Lone of People’s Conference (PC), Ali Mohammad Sagar of National Conference (NC), Naem Akhtar of the PDP and former IAS officer Shah Faesal, could be accommodated.

Pakistan rejects 'incorrect, legally untenable' political maps issued by India
Should be titled "India jerks Pak chain. Again."
[DAWN] Pakistain rejects the political maps of India "displaying the Jammu and Kashmir

region and seeking to depict parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir within the territorial jurisdiction of India", said a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Sunday.

A day earlier, the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification detailing the boundaries of the so called union territories of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and also issued a new political map of India.

The new map now shows areas under AJK inside Ladakh, and not in Jammu and Kashmir as depicted earlier, reported Scroll.in on Saturday.

The move came after India on August 5, amid a harsh security and communication lockdown, revoked the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Indian constitution. On October 31, Indian authorities formally revoked the restive area’s constitutional autonomy and split it into two federal territories: one Jammu and Kashmir, and the other the Buddhist-dominated high altitude region of Ladakh.

The statement by the Foreign Office on Sunday said the maps issued by India on November 2 were "incorrect, legally untenable, void and in complete violation of the relevant United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
Security Council resolutions".

"Pakistain rejects these political maps, which are incompatible with the United Nations’ maps," it added.

"We reiterate that no step by India can change the 'disputed' status of Jammu and Kashmir recognised by the United Nations.
The new map can be seen here.

#3  The Princely state of Jammu and Kashmir was created by the British. The Dogra rulers of Jammu were vassals to the Sikh kings, who, with the Marathas, had begun to dismantle the Mughal empire. The. British bought the Kashmir valley and ceded it to the Dogra ruler who was elevated to Maharaja in his own right. Jammu and Kashmir comprised of Jammu Province, Kadhmir valley, Gilgit Wazarat and Ladakh Wazarat. Pakistan controls Gilgit and Baltistan and names it as one area but Baltistan actually is part of Ladakh wazarat. These areas all had their own minor rulers who were vassals to the Maharaja and paid homage at his darbar. So India is correct to place Baltistan (occupied by Pakistan) and Aksai Chin (occupied by China) as part of Ladakh. Gilgit technically belongs on its own but given India's claim on the territory, it can declare Gilgit as part of Ladakh UT.

Pay deal ends strike by UN Palestinian agency workers in Jordan
[IsraelTimes] Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi announces raises for UNRWA employees of between 70 and 100 Jordanian dinars per month from January.

An agreement was reached to end a strike in Jordan by employees of the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees, hours after the walkout began Sunday, Amman’s top diplomat and a trade union leader said.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi announced the deal with UNRWA employees, involving salary increases of between 70 and 100 Jordanian dinars (88 to 126 euros) per month from January, at a late afternoon news conference with union representatives.

"Consequently, it has been decided to put an end to the strike," said Riyadh Zyghan, leader of the UNRWA employees’ union in Jordan.

More than two million Paleostinians are registered in Jordan as refugees with UNRWA, which provides everything from healthcare to schooling.

Around 7,000 workers had joined the strike, forcing a shutdown of agency facilities, according to UNRWA front man in Jordan Sami Mshamsha.

Mshamsha said the union demanded a salary increase of 200 Jordanian dinars, but agreed to ask for half that amount following negotiations with UNRWA.

The union of UNRWA workers had said the action would be "open-ended" and had told students they should stay at home.

The strike came as the agency faces an unprecedented financial crisis.

In 2018, the United States suspended and later cut all its funding for UNRWA, causing a shortfall that threatened to close its schools and hospitals.

Those woes were compounded by allegations of abuse by the agency’s management, leading other key donors ‐ the Netherlands and Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
‐ to snap shut their purses.

In June UNRWA commissioner general Pierre Krahenbuhl told a news conference in Amman that the agency faced an expected $211 million shortfall in funding for 2019, and called on donors to fill the gap.

The agency runs 169 schools in the kingdom, serving some 120,000 students, as well as a faculty of science and educational arts, 25 primary healthcare centers, and other services.

US President Donald Trump
...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election...
’s administration, along with Israel, accuse UNRWA of perpetuating the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict by extending refugee status to millions of descendants of Paleostinians who fled or were forced out of homes in today’s Israel at the time of the establishment of the Jewish state in 1948, rather than limiting refugee status only to the original refugees, as is the norm with most refugee populations worldwide.

The agency disputes that and says the vital services it provides would otherwise not be available to Paleostinians who benefit from them.

Iraq
Iraq’s PM urges protesters to stop, says unrest is hurting the economy
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iraq’s Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi appealed on Sunday to protesters to help restore normal life across the country and said the unrest was costing the economy "billions of dollars."

More than 250 people have been killed since the protests in Baghdad and the south of the country started in early October, driven by discontent over economic hardship and corruption.

In statement published on Sunday evening, Abdul-Mahdi said the protests which "shook the political system" have achieved their purpose and must stop effecting the country’s trade and economic activities.

"Threatening the oil interests and blocking roads leading to Iraq’s ports is causing big losses exceeding billions of dollars," said Abdul Mahdi, warning that unrest was pushing up prices of goods.

Lebanon’s anti-government protesters return to streets, call for general strike
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Lebanese protesters demanding the overthrow of their country’s ruling elite poured back onto the streets on Sunday in the largest numbers since the government was toppled and hours after opposing supporters of President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
staged a rally.

Protesters have poured into Riad al-Solh Square and Martyrs’ Square in central Beirut, with many of them confirming that they will continue with their protests until their demands are met amid calls for a general strike on Monday.

The protesters called for the closure of all major roads across the country in order "to topple the government," Al Arabiya correspondent reported.

Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri resigned on Tuesday following unprecedented nationwide protests, deepening a political crisis and complicating efforts to enact badly needed economic reforms in Leb.

On Sunday evening anti-government protesters flooded streets in Beirut and north and south of the capital, rejecting Aoun’s attempt to position himself as the guarantor of the protest movement and its anti-corruption drive.

"All of them means all of them," protesters chanted in central Beirut, a reference to the wholesale removal of an elite they accuse of pillaging the state and steering it into crisis.

Earlier in the day, thousands of Aoun supporters had attended a rally just outside Beirut, some waving his Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
party’s orange flags, engulfing a main road leading to the presidential palace.

It was the biggest counter punch to the broader wave of demonstrations that have gripped Leb since October 17 and which have included Aoun’s removal among a set of sweeping demands.

In a televised speech, Aoun, who must now hold consultations with members of parliament to designate a new premier, called for protesters to unify behind efforts to stamp out corruption, which he described as having become "nested" in the state.

He said a three-point plan had been drawn up around tackling corruption, revitalizing the economy and building a civil state.

The anti-government protests had largely subsided after Hariri resigned, with smaller groups remaining on the streets and pushing for core demands like the rapid formation of a government led by technocrats to carry out the badly needed economic reforms.

"All that we have gotten so far is the government’s resignation. We still have a long way to go," said Charbel al-Zaani, an engineer.

"If the new government that is formed isn’t one that the people want, the revolution will return even bigger," said Zaani.
