[DAWN] US President Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... said on Saturday he had called off a secret summit with the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... and Afghanistan's leader, abruptly slamming the door on a year of diplomacy to end America's longest war.
In a Saturday evening bombshell, Trump said that he had planned previously unknown talks with the two sides on Sunday in Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland, but that the Taliban's persistent, grisly campaign of violence made them untrustworthy partners.
"Unbeknownst to almost everyone, the major Taliban leaders and, separately, the President of Afghanistan, were going to secretly meet with me at Camp David on Sunday," Trump said in a tweet.
"Unfortunately, in order to build false leverage, they admitted to an attack in Kabul that killed one of our great great soldiers, and 11 other people. I immediately cancelled the meeting and called off peace negotiations."
"What kind of people would kill so many in order to seemingly strengthen their bargaining position? They didn't, they only made it worse!" Trump said.

[Libya Observer] Dignitaries and elders of the Tabu tribe in Murzuq denied expelling people from the city.
"Those who left the city are a group of outlaws who were involved in crimes committed recently, against the Tabu in Murzuq," the tribe's representatives explained in a video statement.
They added that families who fled the city for fear of festivities have begun to return gradually, after the improved security conditions experienced in the city.
A foreign gang is using Wadi al-Anz area, south of Sabha to launch attacks against areas of the southern region, according to the statement, denying the presence of any opposition Chadian groups in Murzuq.

If the so-called Tabu are the Tubu ethnicity they are not indigenous to Murzuq. Their homeland is in the Borkou-Ennedi-Tibesti provinces of northernmost Chad. They served as a bodyguard to King Idris, were hated by Qadafi, and were involved in a long war with him and his Arab Legion. They are tough fighters and seem to want to control all of Libya's south, the Fezzan.

Toubou and Tuareg tribes are part of the saharan tribal network. A loosely knit rebel/criminal melange of down and outs, criminals of opportunity. I know they fought against Qaddafi and the regime after the Arab spring. They are nomads, and their allegiance is pliable. But they hate Europeans with a vicious hatred. By extension maybe Americans too.
These Saharan tribes are minor league people traffickers and raiders. Earlier they claimed they wanted the best kind of education, industry and governance, but can't seem to let go of the tribal themes. Which invariably lead to conflict.
Haftar is fighting the broad spectrum of all islamist and auxiliary criminal tribes, by looting them mainly and killing the remnants. Not all Toubou are criminal though, only the Dillingers among them often vacillate between people smuggling and drug trafficking. The larger community may just be peaceable dimwits.
There's no ideological or religious connection with the AQ jihadis, it's merely one of convenience and economy right now.
[Libya Observer] The Libyan High Council of State (HCS) has decried UAE's provision of a media platform for the spokesman of Khalifa Haftar's forces Ahmed Al-Mismari in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
The HCS denounced UAE's hosting of a presser for the spokesman of outlaw military groups that are waging war on legitimacy in Libya and allowing him to incite more bloodshed among fellow Libyans.
"The press conference of Haftar's spokesman in Abu Dhabi is additional evidence for the UAE's involvement in fueling violence and war in Libya and its assistance to Haftar's forces to carry out a coup against legitimacy." HCS said in a statement on Sunday.
It added that this conference proves as well the false claims of Abu Dhabi that it is with the UN-backed government in Libya and with the resumption of political process.
"The UN support mission in Libya should document these violations and condemn them. While, the Government of National Accord should take necessary measures to respond to these violations by the UAE." HCS further explained.
Haftar's spokesman Ahmed Al-Mismari held Saturday a press conference in Abu Dhabi wearing a UAE military outfit and talked about holding positions in Tarhouna after heavy clashes on Saturday against the Libyan Army under the Presidential Council's command, reiterating Haftar's rejection to any political dialogue and that they insist on entering Tripoli by force.

They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him... rebels.
But in a joint statement released by both countries' state media, the Gulf powers sought to appear united, as they "reaffirmed continued support for the legitimate government of Yemen".
The two countries called on the warring parties to immediately cease "all military operations" and "stop media propaganda" that fuels hostilities, the statement added.

[DAWN] The jail authorities on Saturday presented former law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan before a special court for Control of Narcotics Substance (CNS) with no presiding judge available to hold the proceedings.
The officials took the PML-N leader back to jail after the court’s reader simply marked his attendance, fixed Sept 14 as next date of hearing and also extended his judicial remand in the drug case.
The Lahore High Court on Sept 6 repatriated District & Sessions Judge Masood Arshad, the presiding judge of the CNS court pursuant to a notification of the federal law ministry issued on Aug 26 last. The high court is yet to nominate the new presiding judge.
During the last hearing held on Aug 28, the judge had returned to the court after one-hour break only to inform the prosecution and the defence that he had been barred from hearing the case through a message he received on Whatsapp.

The Foreign Office also termed Indian reports that portrayed two farmers, who had inadvertently crossed the border in August, as holy warriors as a "farcical attempt".

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Iraqi Hashd, Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), said it is now forming its own ’Air Force’ in order to respond to hostile air strikes.
The group’s deputy chief, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandes, said he had ordered to establish the air force directorate for the Hashd; naming Salah Mahdi Hantoush as its caretaker.

This comes a few weeks after suspicious Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s targeted the group’s positions in Baghdad and other provinces of Iraq.
A senior US official said that Israel conducted "several strikes in recent days" in Iraq, including the July 19 attack north of Baghdad which targeted a base allegedly used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps "to transfer weapons to Syria".

[IsraelTimes] A former Hezbollah official was found dead in his Beirut apartment on Sunday, state media reported.
Local police opened an investigation into the circumstances of Ali Hatoum’s death and ordered that an autopsy be conducted, Leb’s National News Agency said.
Hatoum was formerly a regional commander of the terror group in the Beirut region, but had not been in a senior position for several years.
Limited verifiable details were immediately available, but "informed sources" told the an-Nahar news site that it was unlikely Hatoum had been assassinated.
