Afghanistan
Pakistan's Demands for Tariff Decrease Returned In Kind by Kabul
[Tolo News] The government of Pakistain this week asked Afghan leaders to decrease the transit tariffs imposed on Pak goods en route to Central Asian countries. The Afghan government, in turn, has demanded Pakistain do the same thing for Afghan goods on their way to South Asian countries.

Officials at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
have said that they are willing to cooperate on the basis of the Afghanistan-Pakistain Transit and Trade Agreement (APTTA) agreement, but only if Pakistain starts holding up its end of the bargain.

According to the ministry, every truck - including those from Pakistain - pays 8,000 Afghanis in transit fees to Afghanistan to make its to Central Asian countries through Afghan territory.

"We are ready for every form of cooperation in order to give Pakistain access to the Central Asian countries through Afghanistan," MoF front man Abdul Qader Jeelani said on Monday. "But we expect that Pakistain would do the same for our goods that travel to South Asian countries and India."

Human Rights Activists Outraged Over Government Exchanging Children for Hostages
[Tolo News] Human Rights Watch
... During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, HRW received a pledge from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, of which George Soros is Chairman, for general support totaling $100,000,000. The grant is being paid in installments of $10,000,000 over ten years.Through June 30, 2013, HRW had received $30,000,000 towards the fulfillment of the pledge....
(HRW) has expressed its concerns about reports that the Afghan government recently exchanged 22 children born to forces of Evil fighting in Afghanistan for the freedom of 19 hostages being held by turbans in Zabul and Ghazni provinces. The international advocacy group has demanded the government shed light on the matter.

The concerns expressed by HRW officials have been echoed by Afghan politicians in Parliament and civil society activists, who called the swapping of children for hostages a gross violation of the children's rights.

South Sudan expels UN aid official
[AA.TR] South Sudan has expelled a senior UN official in charge of monitoring the delivery of humanitarian aid, a UN spokesperson said Monday.

Secretary-General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
condemned the expulsion of Toby Lanzer, who serves as his deputy envoy and resident aid coordinator in the war-torn country, Farhan Haq told news hounds in New York.

"Mr. Lanzer has been instrumental in addressing the increasing humanitarian needs of conflict-affected communities in the country, and ensuring that life-saving humanitarian assistance reaches the most vulnerable," Haq said, urging South Sudan to reverse its decision.

"[Ban] further urges the government to cooperate fully with all United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
entities present in South Sudan," Haq added.

South Sudan has been ravaged by violence since December of 2013, when President Salva Kiir accused his sacked vice-president, Riek Machar, of leading a coup attempt against his regime.

The ensuing conflict has left tens of thousands of people dead, 2 million seeking refuge -- both internally and in neighboring countries -- and 2.5 million at risk of starvation in 2015, according to UN data.

Renewed violence in northern Unity and Upper Nile recently resulted in the withdrawal of several aid agencies, leaving vulnerable communities without desperately needed humanitarian assistance.

Africa North
Mauritanian Agency: AQIM Islamists Claim Two Attacks against U.N. in Mali
[AnNahar] Al-Qaeda's North Africa arm has grabbed credit for two attacks against the United Nation's MINUSMA peacekeeping mission in Mali this week, the Mauritanian Al-Akhbar news agency reported Sunday.

Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) said it was behind a "rocket attack on a MINUSMA base" in northern Mali on Monday and a landmine kaboom Thursday targeting a U.N. convoy in the restive north, according to al-Akhbar, citing AQIM front man Abderrahmane Al-Azawadi.

The al-Akhbar agency regularly carries jihadist statements.

On Thursday, MINUSMA announced that three Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
peacekeepers were maimed when their convoy triggered at least one mine in the Timbuktu region.

The AQIM front man however said the mine blast had caused "three deaths", Al-Akhbar reported.

MINUSMA commander Major General Michael Lollesgaard from Denmark and the mission's police chief Abdounasir Awale were part of the convoy, MINUSMA sources told AFP.

A MINUSMA security source based in Timbuktu said it was "very likely" that the mines had been laid just before the convoy arrived, specifically targeting the two commanders, as security checks had been carried out along the route a few hours earlier.

Separately, MINUSMA on Tuesday said a Bangladeshi peacekeeper had been rubbed out and another maimed in "an incident" in the area of Bamako airport.

The circumstances of that shooting, however, are still being investigated and it has not been attributed by the U.N. to Death Eaters.

With 35 peacekeepers killed in combat since MINUSMA's inception in 2013, the U.N. has described northern Mali as the deadliest place on earth for its personnel.

The country's northern desert has been plagued by violence from jihadist groups that seized control of the region from Tuareg rebels before being routed by a French-led international intervention in 2013.

Despite peaceful elections after the French operation, the country remains deeply divided and the north has seen an upsurge in attacks recently by pro-government militias and the Tuareg-led rebellion known as the CMA.

The government and several gangs signed a peace accord on May 15 in a ceremony in Bamako attended by numerous heads of state, but missing the crucial backing of the CMA.

The Algerian-led international mediation team in the grinding of the peace processor has announced it is hosting a series of consultations in Algiers this week aimed at securing the CMA's signature.

The head of the CMA has said, however, that he was convinced that the consultations would bear fruit.

Thousands of pro-government demonstrators erupted into the streets in Bamako on Tuesday in support of the peace agreement.

Around 31,000 people have been forced to flee their homes -- 500 into neighboring countries -- over the past two weeks, mostly from the Timbuktu region, the U.N.'s World Food Program has said.

International activists en route to break siege on Gaza... again
[AlAhram] A fishing trawler from Sweden is set to be joined by up to eight other boats as part of a third Freedom Flotilla
How utterly boring. But perhaps this time it will be Egypt telling them to get themselves to a nunnery, instead of Israel.
A fishing vessel has set sail from Sweden, as part of a new humanitarian aid flotilla to break a nine-year siege on the Israeli-occupied Gazoo strip, five years after a first attempt ended in the death of nine activists.
A naval and land blockade has restricted the movements of people and goods from and to the Gazoo strip, since the Islamist Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, movement won parliamentary elections and became its de-facto ruler in 2006.

As part of the Freedom Flotilla III fleet to break a siege affecting the lives of up to 1.8 million Gazooks, the Marianne boat set off from Sweden on 10 May, with nine people from Sweden and Norway, as well as humanitarian aid, on board.

"This move will serve to break the illegal and inhuman siege on Gazoo," Charlie Andreasson, one of the Swedish activists currently on board the Swedish boat, told Turkish news agency Anadolu.

The boat is set to join other ships from Greece, Norway, Italia, Canada, South Africa, Spain and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and expected to reach Gazoo by mid-June.

Tunisia's former president Moncef Marzouki is among the human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
activists and politicians from around the world heading to Gazoo this year, according to the International Freedom Flotilla Coalition statement released on Saturday.

Over the past five years, activists from the International Solidarity Movement supporting Paleostinians have repeatedly attempted to break the siege on Gazoo by arriving by sea on "freedom flotillas" or by land through Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

Since the last war on Gazoo, the Karam Abou-Salem cross-border has become the only commercial port for goods and fuel to reach Gazoo.

Repeated attempts
As part of the first Gazoo Freedom Flotilla, six ships headed to the strip in May 2010.

Israeli forces raided the ships in international waters, killing nine activists and injuring dozens others on the Mavi Marmara ship from Turkey on May 31, 2010, sparking tensions between Turkey and Israel. In 2013, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu apologised to Turkey over the attack.

In 2014, International Criminal Court
... where Milosevich died of old age before being convicted ...
chief prosecutor Fatou B. Bensouda said that, although there was a reasonable basis to believe that "war crimes" had been committed," it lacks "sufficient gravity" to come under ICC jurisdiction.

The Greek Coast Guard stopped the boats involved in a second attempt to break the siege in 2011.

Rafah border crossing
Paleostinians have traditionally used the Rafah crossing between Gazoo and Egypt to access education or medical treatment in Egypt and further abroad, but Egyptian authorities have kept the crossing mostly closed since former president Mohammed Morsi's ouster in 2013, citing security concerns in the north of the Sinai Peninsula, where Islamist murderous Moslems have been waging an insurgency against Cairo.

On the rare occasions that the crossing is opened, such as last Tuesday, Paleostinians are allowed into Gazoo, but not out.

GNC and Tripoli government condemn IS suicide attack in Misrata, promise new anti-IS policy
[Libya Herald] The continuing General National Congress together with the government it appointed in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
let by Khalifa Ghwell, as well as Sadik Al-Ghariani have all condemned the suicide kaboom at Misrata's Dafniya checkpoint in which at least five security officers died. There are reports there the figure could be higher.

The Tripoli interior minister, Mohammed Shaiter, went to Dafniya himself to inspect the site, there describing IS as "cowardly terrorists". Following his visit, the Tripoli government announced it was planning new moves to fight IS which last week forced Misrata's 166 Brigade out of its remaining positions in Sirte.

The Ghwell government called on all Libyan soldiers and security forces who backed it to defend the country from IS and on the international community, including the UN, to support it in the struggle. It also called on imams to preach a moderate Islam and demonstrate that it is a tolerant faith.

Dawn calls for anti-IS mobilisation while Mufti slams security laxity
[Libya Herald] The Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
-based Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
antigovernment this evening called for a general mobilisation against IS, following the suicide kaboom attack at the Dafniya checkpoint outside Misrata.

In a social media statement is urged officers, soldiers, revolutionaries and all security forces to mobilise and fight IS.

"The Tripoli government is determined" said the statement,"to continue fighting extremism and criminal gangs who operate under what is known as the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
[ISIS] until they are uprooted".
The antigovernment also issued a plea to the international community to help it fights myrmidons, because they represented a major threat to Libya's security.
The Grand Mufti Sheikh Sadik Al-Ghariani appeared to be openly critical of the state of alert against IS attacks. In a statement published by the Dar Al-Ifta he urged "the brigades of the General National Congress" to tighten their grip on checkpoints and all other places.

He also launched into IS. He called on Libyans to unite against the ideas of IS which were spread by foreigners, whose ambition was to distort Islam's peaceful image and plunge Libya into the same destruction as in Syria and Iraq.

In a fatwa, Ghariani, whom the Libya Dawn regime still recognises as Grand Mufti, condemned IS for its deviant beliefs. But he also criticised Congress and the Ghwell government saying that as the country's sole authorities they had to provide the security forces with the arms and equipment they needed. He also said they needed to take care of those maimed in fighting on the various fronts and at checkpoints, ensuing they received the best treatment in the world, by sending them to quality European hospitals, not corrupt ones in Libya.

PM Thinni calls on international community to help in eradicating terrorism in Libya
It's sweet, but sad, that he thinks anyone cares. He does have justice on his side, but that doesn't matter in these degenerate days.
[Libya Herald] Libya's only internationally recognized Prime Minister, Abdullah Thinni accused Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
militias of ''a very great complicity'' in the ''direct handing over'' of the whole city of Sirte to IS.

Thinni, speaking at a presser on Sunday from the government's base in Al-Beida, said that even the attempt by Libya Dawn/Sunrise militias over a month ago to reach the oil crescent was in cooperation with IS as the Dawn/Sunrise coalition had to pass and return through IS controlled territory.

However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
striking a reconciliatory note, Thinni called ''on all to stand as one and leave behind our sectarian struggle in order to overcome our joint enemy which is terrorism in all the meaning of the word''.

With regards to the role of the international community in Libya, Thinni added that he was ''surprised at the international community's failure to take a firm stand against what is happening in Libya'' and ''deplored their slack attitude. And if the international community remained silent Libyan cities will be threatened city by city'', he added.

''Overcoming these (terror) groups would become very difficult and what is happening in Iraq now is proof of this'' he added.

''We call upon the international community to do its duties towards what is happening in Libya and lifting the embargo on weapons so that the Libyan army can face up to these groups to protect the urban population, women and kiddies and eradicate terrorism in Libya'', he concluded on the subject.

Awlad Sulaiman calls for end to violence in south, proposes pan-tribal council for Fezzan
[Libya Herald] One of Libya's more prominent tribes, particularly in Fezzan, the Awlad Sulaiman has called for an end to the violence and for reconciliation between competing tribes and communities.

Condemning the recent killings and robberies that have ben taking place recently in Sebha, the tribe's Shoura Council, meeting in the town, called for the creation of a supreme tribal council in the south, at which tribal differences could be resolved.

According to shoura council front man Badad Gansu, the Awlad Sulaiman wants to extend a hand of friendship and heal divisions with other tribes and seek reconciliation throughout the country. In particular, it wants to enable those who have been forced from their homes to return and to see justice for those who have suffered loss or violence.

Representatives from the tribe had been sent to other tribes to canvas their views on the proposals and on a comprehensive reconciliation, Gansu said, and the Awlad Sulaiman were awaiting an answer. In particular, he added, the tribe was in touch with Tebu elders to work out a peace deal.

The Awlad Sulaiman has been involved in a series of deadly festivities over the past three years with Tebus as well as with other tribes in and around Sebha, such as the Qaddadfa.

Arabia
Details of Suicide Blast at Imam Hussein's Mosque in Saudi Dammam
[ALMANAR.LB] New evidences were revealed on Monday about the terrorist suicide kaboom that went off in Dammam city, east of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
last Friday, and killed four people, the Saudi Al-Hayat newspaper reported.

The daily said that the footages of the cameras installed in the area "revealed that the terrorist was dressed in women's clothing and tried to storm the mosque after being discovered by the young men in charge of the inspection at the gate of the mosque."

"The four deaders prevented the terrorist, and threw him to the ground and grabbed him. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
he detonated the boom belt that was strapped to his body at the moment, before the arrival of the security forces who were summoned by a fifth young man to arrest the terrorist," the Al-Hayat stated.

"They were five young men standing at the southern gate of the mosque of Imam Hussein. They were guarding the entrance to the outer wall, which is the corridor to the parking. Suddenly, a woman came out, who was in fact a terrorist disguised in a women's cloak," Bassem al-Ithan, an eye-witness and a Dammam resident told the newspaper.

"He came out from between the cars on his way to the mosque. The young men prevented him, and they said that there is no prayer for women here under the order of the main holy man of the mosque, Sheikh Ali Al-Nasser, who announced two nights before that Friday prayers are banned for women," he went on to say.

"They prevented him from entering. He started to hesitate whether to go backward or forward. The men were skeptical about this woman who did not respond and did not utter a word. They tried to warn "her," but he unmasked himself and attacked the young people, trying to enter by force," Ithan said.

"Martyr Abdul Jalil held him from behind and pushed him out of the gate, while his brother martyr Mohammad grabbed him from the front. Besides the two there were martyr Hadi al-Hashim and martyr Mohammad Issa, who pushed him to the parking lots, while the fifth young rushed to the security forces who were nearby, and started to shout "a terrorist is here."

"On his way back, he heard the sound of the kaboom which claimed the four young men, and killed the terrorist. The flesh scattered on the walls of the mosque and reached the neighboring homes. After that, the security forces started to arrive in the place, as well as the Civil Defense to extinguish the fires that broke out in cars."

A member of the Popular Committees (PC) - formed of residents and are charged of defending the mosque and guarding the worshippers - suspected the terrorist and informed the Saudi security forces deployed there, yet he didn't receive an answer. Then, he immediately rushed to catch the bomber who was hurrying to detonate himself several meters away from the place, killing four people including himself.

Bangladesh
'I work for the satisfaction of Allah,' bank robber tells police
[Dhaka Tribune] The thirty-five year old "operation commander" of the Bangladesh Commerce Bank robbery in Ashulia that left nine people dead and more than 20 maimed says he did it all for God.

Shamim alias Sumon, 35, a leader of the outlawed hard boy outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team, justified the extremely violent April 21 bank heist as piety, a district high official, requesting not to be named, told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday.

"I do not do anything, including the robbery, for myself, Sir. I do not even work for the organization for myself ... I work for the satisfaction of Allah," Mahfuzul Islam Shamim, the head of the gang that robbed the Ashulia Commerce Bank was quoted by police as saying.

When the official asked the suspect whether such acts are mentioned in the holy texts, Shamim put his head down and would not answer, the official said.

District police jugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
Shamim in the capital late on Saturday night.

On April 21, armed criminals robbed the Kathgora branch of Bangladesh Commerce Bank located in the Ashulia industrial area near Dhaka, killing nine people. More than 20 others sustained bullet and splinter wounds when the robbers opened fire and set off bombs while escaping.

One of the robbers was lynched and two others were handed over to police by a local mob. Police have so far made 11 arrests in the robbery investigation.

Nazmul Hasan Firoz, assistant superintendent of police of Dhaka, said the robbery had been aided by a detailed map of the bank branch.

"The map accurately depicts the second floor of the Commerce Bank branch. It identifies people with marks, locates the toilet and identifies the bank manager's office room. The exit and entrance is also marked on the map, Nazmul said.

Police said they had recovered two maps in a drive on a one-storey building in the Aushpara area of Tongi. One map was used for the robbery but the significance of the second map has not yet been deciphered, police said. The assistant superintendent of police said more would be known when the second map is decoded.

Shamim, who was placed in court on Sunday, gave a confessional statement before the magistrate taking responsibility for a number of crimes including the killing of a bKash agent during a mugging in Gazipur on March 10.

China-Japan-Koreas
More 'bad luck' in N. Korea: drought and famine
North Korea has long struggled with food shortages, but the United Nations is warning that this year may be the worst in decades. UN resident coordinator for North Korea Ghulam Isaczai said he was deeply concerned about the impact of a recent severe drought, which has raised fears of a famine.

Annual rainfall in the North is at a 30-year record low, affecting reservoirs and hydroelectric power production. The UN official said food insecurity already affects 70 percent of the North's roughly 25 million residents. To cover the shortages, Pyongyang may have to reach out to neighboring countries such as China, India and Russia, Isaczai said.

The Grand Turk
Turkey's Erdogan vows to punish journalist behind Syria trucks video
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has vowed to punish the editor of a newspaper which published video footage it said showed the MIT state intelligence agency helping send weapons to Syria.

The Cumhuriyet newspaper published footage on its website on Friday which it said showed gendarmerie and coppers opening crates of what it described as weapons and ammunition on the back of three trucks belonging to MIT.

"The individual who has reported this as an exclusive story will pay a high price for this," Erdogan said in a television interview with state broadcaster TRT late on Sunday.

"I will not let this go."

Rooters reported on May 21 that witnesses and prosecutors have alleged that MIT helped deliver arms to parts of Syria under Islamist rebel control during late 2013 and early 2014, quoting a prosecutor and court testimony from gendarmerie officers.

Cumhuriyet said the video was from Jan. 19, 2014 but did not say how it had obtained the footage.

Erdogan has said the trucks stopped that day belonged to MIT and were carrying aid to Turkmens in Syria. He has said prosecutors had no authority to search MIT vehicles and were part of what he calls a "parallel state" run by his ally-turned-foe Fethullah Gulen, a U.S.-based Islamic holy man whom Erdogan says is bent on discrediting him and the government.

"These allegations against the national intelligence agency and this illegal operation is some kind of espionage activity. This paper is now involved in this espionage," Erdogan said, adding that he had instructed his lawyer to file a lawsuit.

The state-run Anadolu news agency said on Friday that the Istanbul chief prosecutor's office had launched an investigation into Cumhuriyet's editor-in-chief Can Dundar under counter-terrorism laws.

Rooters could not reach Dundar for comment, but he defended the newspaper's coverage on his Twitter account.

"We are journalists, not civil servants. Our duty is not to hide the dirty secrets of the state but to hold those accountable on behalf of the people," he said in a tweet on Monday.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu also said at the weekend that the trucks were carrying aid for Turkmens but declined to comment on their content.

"It is nobody's business what was inside the trucks. Yes there were serious festivities in Syria and we helped the Turkmens," Davutoglu said on Sunday in a Haberturk television interview

Pakistani 'militant' to be deported from Canada next month
[DAWN] A Pak citizen, charged with being a member of a banned sectarian group, will be deported from Canada next month after being caught with a cache of firearms, an immigration hearing heard on Monday.

According to the daily National Post, Muhammad Aqeeq Ansari stockpiled 20,000 Canadian dollars worth of guns and ammunition in the basement of a Peterborough, Ontario home.

He has lived in Canada since 2007, but was stripped of his permanent residency and ordered deported last month.

An immigration and refugee board ruled him inadmissible to Canada on "security grounds" over his membership in the Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaal (ASWJ), formerly known as Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain
...a Sunni Deobandi organization, a formerly registered Pak political party, established in the early 1980s in Jhang by Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi. Its stated goal is to oppose Shia influence in Pakistain. They're not too big on Brelvis, either. Or Christians. Or anybody else who's not them. The organization was banned in 2002 as a terrorist organization, but somehow it keeps ticking along, piling up the corpse counts...
(SSP).

Seven of its members were hanged in Pakistain in January for killings, attempted liquidations and an attack on the US consulate in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
in 2003.

The Canadian immigration board was informed by the Canada Border Services Agency on Monday of Ansari's pending deportation.

Officials were not immediately available to confirm his travel schedule.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shouting match, the spittle had reached unprecedented levels...
another Pak national living in the Toronto area, Jahanzeb Malik, tagged in March as a national security threat, is still awaiting a deportation decision.

He was accused of plotting to bomb the US consulate and financial buildings in Toronto.

Rather than filing charges, authorities took him before the Immigration and Refugee Board to seek his deportation to Pakistain.

'Diet Coke' Muslim Discrimination Passenger Has Ties to Radical Imams
[Breitbart] A Muslim woman who claimed over the weekend--in a social media post that has since gone viral--that United Airlines discriminated against her because of her faith, has a history rife with deep connections to the Muslim Brotherhood and radical Imams.

31-year-old Tahera Ahmad, who serves as the Muslim chaplain at Northwestern University, claimed over the weekend that she was discriminated against because a United Airlines flight attendant allegedly refused to give her a full can of unopened Diet Coke. When asked for an explanation as to why she had been refused her unopened Diet Coke, the flight attendant allegedly told her that the Coke can could be used as a "weapon on the plane," Ahmad stated in a Facebook post. After she complained, a passenger told her, "You Moslem you need to shut the f--k up," according to Ahmad's recounting of what happened on board. Ahmad's Facebook page was taken down this afternoon.

Without any evidence (but for her firsthand account) that the incident ever occurred, many in the mainstream media have taken to reporting on Ahmad's account as a case of "Islamophobia."

Islamic supremacist groups such as CAIR (Council on American-Islamic relations) have condemned United, telling Al Jazeera that they have taken an interest in filing a lawsuit on behalf of Ahmad.

I have no doubt everyone thought it, and a few might have claimed the comment after the fact but I just don't see it being said, at least not calling out Moslems that way.

And did anyone on this board doubt she was a provocateur and not some innocent? They really aren't very good at being subtle.

German FM to 'Israel' from Gaza: Lift Gaza Blockade
[ALMANAR.LB] The German foreign minister called Monday for the Zionist entity to lift the blockade of Gazoo in return for Paleostinian security reassurances during a visit to the beleaguered coastal enclave.

German FM in GazooFrank-Walter Steinmeier arrived in Gazoo on Monday at the head of a delegation of 60 German officials intending to review several projects as well as recent developments in the blockaded and war-torn enclave.

During a presser in Gazoo's seaport, he said that the enclave is in need of economic aid and investment that would only come if 'Israel' opened the crossings, according to Maan news agency.

He added, however, that opening the crossings would be difficult to achieve "if rockets were still being fired from Gazoo into Israel."

The German foreign minister said that security was the condition for human development.

Earlier this month, Germany announced a $41 million contribution to the UNRWA shelter assistance program in Gazoo.

Assad to form new militia in Syria coast as rebels advance
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] The Republican Guard of Syrian regime announce forming "Coast Shield Brigade", calling for youth to apply, with salaries of 40 thousand Syrian pounds, pro-regime news feeds said..

The announcement to call for joining the brigands brigade was released by the office of Praetorian Republican Guard in Qerdaha, Bashir al-Assad's hometown, and adverts were distributed on walls, which indicates that it targeted Alawite youth.

The name of the brigade and the salary indicate targeting poor youth of Alawite people in Latakia and Tartus provinces, as the salary equal to $140 is not enough to even buy the shroud, according to Isam Khori, the economic expert.

Experts anticipate that many youth of Alawite people in the coastal region would join the brigade, like what happened when many joined the "Desert Brigade" to protect petrol resources.

The announcement points to lack of financial support for fighting, as the salaries are too low compared to the inflation happening in the country.

The brigands brigade formation's announcement coincided with victories in Idlib the armed opposition has achieved especially when controlled Ariha and other towns near the coast region, the main source of fighters for the regime.

Kurdish Yezidi sisters tell of ISIS enslavement
[RUDAW.NET] Kurdish authorities in Dohuk say at least 4,500 Kurdish Yezidis are still being held by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
holy warriors in Iraq and Syria despite rescue efforts that have so far secured the release of nearly 1,700 Yezidi captives.

Rudaw met with two Yezidi sisters who escaped ISIS captivity in eastern Syria in early May following an operation by US Special Forces that led to the killing of a key ISIS commander known as Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
. At the time of the raid, the sisters were being held in a nearby home of another ISIS fighter.

The two sisters, 26 and 24, are now living at the Shariya Camp outside Duhok in the Iraqi Kurdistan region. They told Rudaw a harrowing story about their time in ISIS captivity.

"We were forced into buses, all of us, maybe 300 to 500 of us, women and much younger girls," said the 26-year-old about the day they were kidnapped in Shingal in August 2014. Both women requested anonymity.

Ransoms have been paid to secure the release of many Yezidi captives, according to Koro.
"The buses made many stops on the way to Syria and at every stop a number of women were told to step out," she said, adding that she suspects the women taken off the buses were given to ISIS holy warriors along the route to Syria.

She said many of the Yezidi women were also sold into slavery to Arab sheikhs and tribal leaders in the area, and some of the women were as young as 15.

"We were moving all the time. They did not speak to us and when they did, they talked in an abusive language," the younger sister remembered, her eyes filling with tears.

"It was terrible in Homs," she said, referring to ISIS' de-facto capital. "We were given little food and water and were told to convert to Islam or they would kill us."

The Office of Yezidi Affairs in Dohuk, a government organization that releases daily figures and data about Yezidi captives, told Rudaw earlier it so far verified the deaths of 1,280 Yezidis who bit the dust while in ISIS captivity.

"We have to have this point highlighted: 10 mass graves have been found since last summer with Yezidis shot at close range," Hussein Koro, the head of the office, told Rudaw.

The two sisters were being held near the house of Abu Sayyaf, a senior ISIS leader who had a leading role in overseeing ISIS oil and gas operations. A US Army front man said he was killed in a firefight after he resisted capture.

"When the Arclight airstrike began, they hit close to where we were staying in the house, but we were unharmed," the older sister said. "Many of the holy warriors were killed that night. They were from all over the world."

An ISIS Death Eater, she said, then moved the two sisters to Raqqa.

Ransoms have been paid to secure the release of many Yezidi captives, according to Koro.

After their release, the two sisters then crossed the border into The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and arrived in Dohuk several days later.

They said many of their relatives are still in captivity in Syria, enduring appalling conditions.

"No one knows the right number of those in captivity, but I would say thousands are still there," said the eldest sister.

Abu Sayyaf's Yezidi 'slave girl' to be released
[RUDAW.NET] The Kurdish Yezidi woman rescued by US commandos during a raid in Syria on the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. 's top financier is now set to be released from questioning at the US Consulate in Erbil.

In an exclusive Rudaw phone interview, the young woman said she expects to rejoin her family soon.

"I am safe and very good. I feel free and I am so happy about it. This is actually the only thing I can tell you for now," she said on condition of anonymity while still inside a US intelligence unit in the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan.

In the May 16 raid, launched against an eastern Syria site in the Deir ez-Zour area, US Special Forces killed Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
, a man described as the Islamic State's head of oil operations. Along with the main target, US forces captured his wife, known as Umm Sayyaf, and rescued the Kurdish Yezidi woman who had been enslaved.

A US defense official knowledgeable about details of the raid said a team of Delta Force commandos slipped across the border from Iraq under cover of darkness on May 16 aboard Black Hawk helicopters and V-22 Osprey aircraft.

"The girl is in good health and she will be sent back to her family soon," a US consular source told Rudaw.

After the fall of Shingal to ISIS jihadists last year, the young woman was captured along with thousands of other Yezidi women and kiddies. She was sent to Tal Afar, an ethnically Turkmen city some 63 kilometers west of the ISIS stronghold of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
.

Later, she was forced in a bus with other Yezidi women and moved into neighboring Syria, where they were divided up and taken by ISIS officials. She ended up enslaved in Abu Sayyaf's house.

A source knowledgeable with the case said she is from Ger Ozair, and most of her relatives remain in ISIS custody. The source also said US officials told the family to expect her back in one of the Duhok refugee camps on Monday.

The Kurdish Yezidi girl has been under questioning by US intelligence agents since her rescue. Two women close to her are staying with her inside the consulate.

Hadi Dubani, head of Yezidi affairs in Duhok, confirmed to Rudaw: "They are expecting to receive the girl soon in a formal reunification ceremony."

"The Kurdistan Regional Government and Yezidi community praise the US efforts for this Yezidi girl," Dubani said.

Dubani said the woman's two-week stay in the custody of the US was no reason for alarm.

"There was no concern of her health situation. She was just under investigation and will come back to her family on Monday," he added.

ISIS launched a massive assault on the town of Shingal on August 3. Thousands of Kurdish Yezidi families fled to Mount Shingal and hundreds of men were massacred inside the town.

During the attack, some 5,000 Yezidi Kurds were captured. Nine-hundred Yezidis have managed to escape with the remainder still missing. Reports claim the Islamic State jihadists moved at least 1,000 Kurdish Yezidi women and kiddies to Syria.
