Guerrilla Attacks in Panjshir; Both Sides Allege Casualties
[KhaamaPress] Both the Ahmad Massoud-led National Resistance® Front (NRF) and the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
government allege that the Panjshir conflicts and guerrilla attacks carried out by their respective forces in northern Afghanistan resulted in losses on the opposing side.

According to the Taliban government front man Zabihullah Mujahid, during an operation in Panjshir province in northern Afghanistan, the group’s forces killed at least 40 members of the NRF and detained another 101.

The Taliban official stated in a tweet on the 13th of September that 4 NRF commanders are among those who have been killed by the Taliban forces.

The NRF forces, "intended to disrupt the people’s security, but they were repelled and stopped," according to Zabihullah Mujahid."

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
Sibghatullah Ahmadi, the NRF’s front man, asserts that during the fight in Panjshir province, 41 Taliban members were killed. He also acknowledged the deaths of 11 members of the front.

According to Ahmadi, 32 members of the Taliban’s Omari and Badri special units were murdered on Saturday. He said that three resistance fighters suffered injuries on this day as well.

"The criminal Taliban once again stood against all Islamic values, humanitarian principles & the 3rd Geneva Convention on (the Treatment of Prisoners of War), & committed a war crime again by shooting & martyring eight of the proud forces of the [NRF] after they were captured," Ahmadi tweeted on Tuesday, September 13.

The BBC, meanwhile, was told by the Taliban front man that the casualties were inflicted on the opposing side on the battlefield, refuting extrajudicial killing and the killing of prisoners claims.

Somali army kills 18 Al-Shabab members – SNA chief
[ShabelleMedia] The Somali government forces have carried out an operation against al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all of which have enough problems without them...
in Hiran region in which at least 18 faceless myrmidons from al-Shabaab were killed.

Somali National Army’s commandos (DANAB) killed the faceless myrmidons during an offensive against al-Shabaab in Buq-Aqable village, which is 90KM south of Beledweyne, the Provincial Capital of Hiiraan region, on Thursday, SNA’s Chief, Gen Odawa Yusuf told State Media.

There were no independent sources verifying the corpse count as the area residents are afraid to speak with the media on the military operations against al-Shabaab.

For the past few weeks, the Somali military backed by local armed residents has been conducting a joint assault on al-Shabaab bases in response to a recent attack near Beledweyne which left at least 21 people dead.

Mexico detains army general over disappearance of 43 students
[10 News] An army general in Mexico has been detained in connection to the disappearance of 43 students in 2014, which has gained international attention.

The Mexican government said the general is one of three suspects. They commanded a battalion in southern Mexico, according to Deputy Security Minister Ricardo Mejia, AFP reported.

Last month the Mexican government announced it had issued more than 80 arrest warrants for suspects in the case. The arrested warrants were sent to suspects that included 20 members of the military.

The case is considered one of the worst human rights calamities in Mexican history.

The case has become a major national issue for the country and has garnered international condemnation.

In 2014, the students hired busses in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero in order to travel to a large protest in Mexico City before they went missing.

In 2015, then-Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, presented an official report claiming that it was cartel members who killed the students before incinerating their remains at a garbage dump.

The Grand Turk
Turkey arrests suspected PKK members in Mersin: State media
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
said it had arrested Wednesday at least eight suspects of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southern city of Mersin after they had allegedly "made propaganda" for the group.

"Eight suspects were caught in the operations organized at the addresses with the support of the special operations police," Turkey’s state-owned Anadolu Agency reported, adding that the arrestees were working in Mersin’s municipality.

Anadolu described the suspects as "first-degree" relatives of PKK members killed during operations in the country’s rural areas.

The PKK confirmed that ten workers in Mersin’s municipality were arrested on Thursday, saying Ottoman Turkish police arrested them after far-right opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) MP Olcay Kilavuz filed a lawsuit against the workers for carrying out "propaganda for the organization," according to PKK-affiliated Rojnews.

The PKK is a Kurdish gang that struggles for the increased cultural and political rights of Kurds in Turkey. Ankara considers it a terrorist organization and frequently launches operations targeting the group at home and southward across the border with the Kurdistan Region.

In early September, Kurdish employees of Istanbul’s municipality staged a sit-in before the institution demanding to return to work after they were fired for having participated in events held in Turkey to mark Halabja’s chemical attack and the Roboski massacre.

Iraq
MIT ‘brings’ two PKK members from Makhmur Camp to Türkiye Turkey
More on this story from yesterday.
[Shafaq News] Turkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) arrested two PKK members during an operation in the Makhmour camp in the Nineveh Governorate of Iraq.

The Anadolu News Agency quoted security sources as saying that the arrested are a man and a woman.

Khatib Gunai, nicknamed "Shahan/Cihan," illegally crossed Iranian borders in September 2019, then moved to the Makhmour camp in northern Iraq to join the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), where he trained and was appointed as a commander.

Aya Ahmed, Syrian, nicknamed "Tekushin Qamishli/Jeevan," had joined the YPG/PKK in Syria. Later she moved to Iraq and trained in the Gara region before her stay at the camp in 2018.

Earlier this week, Ottoman Turkish intelligence forces "neutralized" a so-called senior member of the PKK group in northern Iraq, security sources told Anadolu.

Vedat Aksac, code-named Sahan, is said to be in charge of the ringleader of the PKK's liquidation team. According to the sources, "two other gunnies were neutralized in operation by Turkiye's MIT in Iraq's Erbil region."

The sources added that Ates was active in the YDG-H, a PKK offshoot, and personally involved "in the terror group's activities."

Ottoman Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to imply the people in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

In its 35-year campaign against Turkiye, the PKK — was listed as a terrorist organization by Turkiye, the US, and the EU.

Peshmerga commander killed in Akre
[Rudaw] A shooting incident in Akre district, Duhok province led to the death of a Peshmerga commander and the injury of a number of other people on Thursday. A suspect has been arrested.

The Peshmerga Ministry said in a statement late Thursday that Colonel Sabr Juma, who worked at the ministry’s training section, "was rubbed out by an unidentified person. His wife and children were also injured."

Shaaban Barwari, Akre’s acting mayor, told Rudaw’s Naif Ramazan that the colonel’s daughter and wife and her sister were maimed in the shooting which took place in front of the 43-year-old commander’s house.

Sabah Zuhair, head of Akre health directorate’s media department, said the commander's daughter was maimed.

Barwari later told Rudaw that the suspected murderer was arrested by the security forces, adding that he is a 42-year-old man.

An investigation has been into the incident, said the mayor.

Kurdish forces free another Yazidi woman from al-Hol
[Rudaw] The Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) rescued a second Yazidi woman from the clutches of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) in the notorious al-Hol camp in northeast Syria (Rojava), the force reported Tuesday amid an ongoing anti-ISIS operation in the camp.
The woman was kidnapped from the Yazidi heartland of Shingal when ISIS swept across northern Iraq in 2014, inflicting countless atrocities on the minority group, according to the Kurdish forces.

She is the second Yazidi woman to be rescued from al-Hol since the start of the month.

Earlier in September, the YPJ freed a Yazidi woman from the notorious al-Hol camp. She described the horrors she and her deaf sister experienced through their horrific cross-border journey in slave markets from Iraq into Syria in ISIS captivity to an SDF-affiliated outlet.

ISIS launched a brazen offensive on the Yazidi heartland of Shingal during their conquest of parts of Iraq and Syria in 2014, committing countless atrocities including genocide against the ethnoreligious group. More than 6 thousand Yazidis were kidnapped by the terror group with thousands still remaining missing.

The majority of captives are held in al-Hol camp, according to data obtained by Rudaw English from Khayri Bozani, former head of the Yazidi affairs at the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) endowment ministry.

The rescue of the two women comes amid an ongoing security operation in the camp targeting ISIS cells that was launched in late August by the Kurdish internal security forces (Asayish) in cooperation with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the US-led coalition.

The operation has led to the arrests of over 200 ISIS suspects so far, including 32 women, according to data sent to Rudaw English by the Rojava Information Center (RIC) on Sunday.

Al-Hol camp is located in Hasaka province and has infamously been branded a breeding ground for ISIS, with authorities describing the sprawling facility as a "ticking time bomb," saying the situation in the camp is "very dangerous."

A video posted by SDF spokesperson Aram Hanna on Tuesday depicts children with suspected ties to ISIS in al-Hol camp portraying gestures of beheading and throwing rocks towards a cameraman as he records the camp.

US to send $756 million in new aid to Syria
[Rudaw] The United States on Wednesday said it will provide $756 million in new humanitarian aid to war-torn Syria, where needs remain "too great."

US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield told the UN Security Council the new donation is in addition to the $808 million Washington announced to Syria earlier this year.

"This will help humanitarian partners provide clean water, food, hygiene and relief supplies, shelter, protection services, and critical health and nutrition assistance," Thomas-Greenfield wrote on her Twitter.

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a statement stressed the importance of an international agreement that allows the delivery of humanitarian aid across the border, deeming it a "lifeline" for Syrians who "rely on this aid to survive."

"Cross-border deliveries ensure that life-saving aid including food, medicine, and other relief supplies reach people throughout northwest Syria, who rely on this aid to survive," Blinken said.

In place since 2014, the aid delivery system across The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

’s border into rebel-held Syria at the Bab al-Hawa crossing is the only way UN assistance can reach Syrians without passing areas controlled by Syrian government forces.

UN Security Council in July adopted a resolution extending the relief mechanism for another six months.

Washington says it has supplied about $15.7 billion in humanitarian aid for Syria since the civil war began 11 years ago.

A peaceful uprising against Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

in March of 2011 turned into a full-scale civil war. The government used deadly force to crush the dissent with protests demanding Assad’s resignation erupting nationwide.

About 13 million people were uprooted by Syria’s conflict. Around 6.8 million have fled the country while another 6.2 people were internally displaced within Syria, according to UN numbers.
