Afghanistan
Watchdogs, Reporters Seek Release of Kandahar Journalists
[ToloNews] The arrest of four journalists in Kandahar by the National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
, NDS, the country’s intelligence agency, has sparked reactions from watchdog organizations who say the four must be released and the reason for their detention should be made clear.

Three of the journalists--Bismillah Watandost, Qudrat Sultani and Mohib Obaidi--work for Radi Millat Ghag, and Sanaullah Siyam is a cameraman working for Shinwa Agency in Kandahar. They were arrested by the NDS when they returned from Spin Boldak district on Monday where they went to investigate claims of civilian deaths at the hands of the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
"Whenever a news hound makes a mistake, the media violations commission should decide and approve that he has made a mistake and then he can be arrested," said Samiullah Ghairatmal, head of the Nai office in Kandahar. Nai is an organization supporting open media in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Interior Affairs said interrogations of the four journalists are underway.

"There is evidence against the four journalists who have been arrested on charges of supporting enemy propaganda in Kandahar. The security agencies are conducting their assessment based on the law," the Interior Ministry’s front man Mirwais Stanekzai said.

Taliban Attacks Pushed Back in Kapisa District: Official
[ToloNews] Taliban
...Arabic for students...
attacks in Nijrab district in the central province of Kapisa were pushed back by security forces and members of the public uprising forces early on Tuesday morning, a police official said.

The attacks happened in Dara-e-Farokh Shah and Dara-e-Kalan areas in Nijrab district, Kapisa police front man Shayiq Shorish said.

The festivities started shortly after midnight and continued until 4 am on Tuesday, he said.

Shorish said that six people, including two civilians and four members of the public uprising forces, were killed in the festivities.

This comes as former Kapisa governor Mehrabuddin Safi on Monday said that weak coordination among public uprising forces led to the fall of many key areas to the Taliban in the province, including Nijrab district.

Safi said that the presence of a large number of Taliban fighters also led to the fall of the Kapisa districts.

Security forces left key parts of the Nijrab district two weeks ago, while the Tagab and Ala Sai districts in the province fell to the group earlier in the month.

Over the past two weeks, festivities have been underway in parts of Nijrab to retake the district, but no progress has been made so far. Hundreds of district residents have been displaced due to the festivities.

The deputy governor of Kapisa, Aziz-ur-Rahman Tawab, was killed in a clash with the Taliban in Nijrab district on July 16. The fall of key parts of the district happened three days after his death.

members.

One of them, Agha Mohammad, confessed that he was in prison for four years up until 2020 during which time he met Qari Faigullah, a Taliban member, who asked him to participate in killing babus government employees, specifically Taj Mohammad, a police officer at Takhar Police Headquarters who was involved in imprisoning the Taliban member, the statement said.

Agha Mohammad also confessed that he planned to travel to Takhar to target the police officer and other babus government employees but was arrested by security forces, the statement added.

Another suspect, Samiullah, confessed that he joined the Taliban one and a half years ago, according to the statement.

The statement said that Samiullah also confessed to being involved in four bombing attacks in Kabul with one targeting a police vehicle in Kabul’s District 16, another targeting a police vehicle in the Karte Naw area in Kabul’s District 8, another targeting an army vehicle in Bagrami district and another targeting a police vehicle in Kabul’s District 8.

Kandahar: over one hundred thousand people displaced
[KhaamaPress] Ever since the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
toppled two Police Districts of Kandahar city —the thriving provincial capital- and neighboring districts of the capital city, the city has been the battlefield between the Afghan government forces and the Taliban.

The warring sides have been fighting in six Police Districts of the city for the past three weeks.

As per a survey cited by local journalists, an average number of over one hundred thousand people from 22 thousand families have been displaced to secure areas of Kandahar city. Four families are now living in a residence once fit for only one and most of the others are living on the roads.

Tens of families have also been settled in two local camps.

In a temperature now soaring 40 centigrade, people in Kandahar are devoid of electricity, fuel price has been nearly doubled, academic institutions are shut and there are no mobile signals/connections available by night.

Local journalists report that public residential areas and homes have been transformed into military bastions and are being used by both sides.

Civilians are being killed and maimed on daily basis but there is no human rights

advocate to defend the violation of human rights.

Pillage once reported from the districts of Kandahar province has to been witnessed in the thriving provincial capital as several shops and drugstores reportedly looted recently.

People in Kandahar city warn that if the conflict continues with its current momentum, more people will displace which will lead to a humanitarian disaster in the strategic province of Kandahar.

Libya militia leader Mohammed al-Kani diagnosed with rigor mortis
[MIDDLEEASTEYE.NET] Mohammed al-Kani, a Libyan militia leader who has been accused of murdering hundreds of civilians in the western Libyan town of Tarhuna, was announced dead on Tuesday by several local sources.

Kani was the leader of the notorious Kaniyat militia, also known as the 7th Brigade or the 9th Brigade, part of eastern commander Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly...
's Libyan National Army (LNA).

Boko Haram Cameroon attack kills 5 soldiers, civilian: Defence ministry
[AlAhram] An attack by Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
killed five Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
ian soldiers and a civilian, according to a defence ministry statement on state radio Tuesday.

The attack took place on Monday night in the far north of the central African country near the border with Nigeria, where operations by the Islamist group have been on the rise.
Added after the midnight rollover for future reference, All Africa adds:
"Heavily armed terrorists from the Boko Haram sect attacked the command post sub-sector two of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) of the Lake Chad Basin Commission in Zigue in the Far North Region of Cameroon at 9.30pm on Monday," Cameroon's Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

The statement said, "several assailants were killed and their bodies carted away as the terrorists retreated."

With headquarters in N'Djamena, Chad, the MNJTF is a joint military command of around 10,000 uniform men from Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin that has been contributing to restoring a safe and secure environment in the areas of the Lake Chad Basin that are affected by Boko Haram.

The Monday night attack was the second after that of Saturday which occurred in Sagme, North of Zigue. The Cameroon Defence ministry said eight soldiers were killed and 13 others were wounded during the attack which was the first by the group in close a year.

Nigeria school kidnappers abduct man delivering ransom
[BBC] Kidnappers in Nigeria have seized a man who was sent to deliver a ransom payment to secure the release of dozens of kidnapped school children.

The elderly man was sent by the children's parents after they managed to raise 30m naira ($73,000; £53,000) by selling land and other possessions.

But they have been left feeling hopeless following his kidnapping.

The north of the country is in the midst of a wave of school abductions carried out by criminals for profit.

Ransoms are frequently paid, but this is a rare case where the person carrying the cash has been taken.

The kidnappers called up the school's headteacher to say that the money delivered was not the agreed sum.

The 136 students were taken from an Islamic school in Tegina, Niger state, in late May.

Gunmen riding on cycle of violences stormed the town and opened fire indiscriminately killing one person and injuring another.

As people fled, the attackers went to the school and seized the children.

The parents and school administrators negotiated with the criminals and agreed to pay the ransom. They sold part of the school's land as well as other possessions.

Headteacher Malam Abubakar Alhassan told the BBC that six people were sent with the correct amount to meet the kidnappers near the forest where the children were being held.

When they arrived, the button men demanded that one of the group, an elderly man, follow them into the forest so that the cash could be counted.

But they later called to say the money was not sufficient.

"Parents are now resigned to fate. They say they can't raise any more money. They are now relying on God," Mr Alhassan told the BBC.

More than 1,000 students have been kidnapped from schools across northern Nigeria since December last year.

Hundreds of them are still in captivity.

Key South African ports declare 'force majeure' after cyberattack
[NYPOST] South Africa’s state-owned ports and freight rail operator Transnet has declared "force majeure" at the country’s main container terminals because of "an act of cyberattack, security intrusion and sabotage" that struck last week. The measure, which releases a company from fulfilling contractual obligations, affects key container terminals in Durban, Ngqura, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, Rooters reported Tuesday, citing a note dated Monday that Transnet sent to customers.

"Transnet, including Transnet Port Terminals, experienced an act of cyberattack, security intrusion and sabotage, which resulted in the disruption of TPT normal processes and functions or the destruction or damage of equipment or information," the note reads, according to Bloomberg.

"Investigators are currently determining the exact source of the cause of compromise and extent of the ICT data security breach or sabotage."

Transnet is reportedly taking "all available and reasonable mitigation measures" to limit the impact of the disruption. Container terminals are operating at a slower pace than usual, Bloomberg reported.

Transnet representatives did not return The Post’s request for comment. The company said in a statement to Rooters that the force majeure declaration would be lifted soon.

Former analyst who leaked sensitive drone details sentenced to nearly four years in prison
[Washington Examiner] A former intelligence analyst and Afghanistan war veteran was sentenced to nearly four years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Espionage Act by leaking classified information on the U.S. drone strike program to the media.

Daniel Hale, 33, was arrested in May 2019 for leaking extensively to an unnamed reporter, with charging documents easily identifying him as Jeremy Scahill of the Intercept, an outspoken critic of U.S. military activities overseas. Hale pleaded guilty in March.

U.S. District Judge Liam O'Grady sentenced Hale to 45 months in prison on Tuesday. The judge determined that Hale's actions went past his "courageous and principled" stance on drones, according to the Washington Post.

"You are not being prosecuted for speaking out about the drone program killing innocent people," the judge said. "You could have been a whistleblower ... without taking any of these documents."

#2
Under the Espionage Act by leaking and illegally obtaining classified information regarding Nation Security is a violation.

Additional Facts:
* He was already taking classified information home only a few weeks into a job at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency back in 2014.

* The information collected was not in his assigned area or related to his job. Spy charges could have been applied.

* He was already hooking up with the media and various Anti-USA / Anti-War activists seeking to stop all use of drones.

* While being Anti-War as early as 2012, he still took a job as a defense contractor in 2014 which supported the Sandlands and Affie War efforts.

* In 2014 he printed out classified documents and shared several with Jeremy Scahill, a reporter for the Intercept. Note: Jeremy Scahill is known for having written a number of Anti-War effort articles. Like the Hit piece Blackwater (X-SFOD-D) operators and their missions.

* Hale's house was search in 2014 but the was not charged until 2019????

* No reporter, journalist or media person/group has been charged for receiving and publishing Hales National Security Classified information.

Note: However, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange remains the DOJ's only media person charged for leaking / publishing on or about 3-16-2016, 30,000+/- emails & email attachments to and from Hillary Clinton's private illegal email server while Obama's Secretary of State.

Regarding the innocent Civilian lives....

Ask the Islamic Terrorists why they held meetings, gatherings, and planned suicide operations in the area of families, civilians and etc.

Ask the Islamic Terrorists why they repeatedly strapping on bomb vests of children to murdered Innocents in a totally NON-Military area (eg. Open Air Food market) to kill 100's and forever crippling even more to FORCE others to adopt their way of thinking?

Ask the Islamic Terrorists why its acceptable to murder a person(s) because they pray to the same GOD in a different manner or don't accept their 200 to 1400 AD practices?

Ask the Islamic Terrorists why its OK to make captured married/widowed women sex slaves?

Ask the Islamic Terrorists why its OK to take
per-puberty girls as partners?

Ask the Islamic Terrorists why its OK to murder all Homosexuals?

Then IF You are still alive.
Ask me if collateral damage is worth saving 10 or 100 fold more lives?

#2  Has Iraq existed as a nation since Biblical times? I don't think so. Woodrow Wilson screwed up its boundaries -- and screwed the Kurds. During WWI Britain took Iraq from Ottoman Turkey and was then granted a League of Nations mandate in 1920. However, even then the boundaries were questionable and Shiite Basra and the south only joined later. The Hashemite monarchy was created by the Brits in 1921 and was granted a form of independence in 1932. Next, a pro-Axis revolt in 1941 cause a British occupation. The monarchy survived but was overthrown by the military in 1958. Sixty-three years later a failed state at its inception remains next to Yemen the Arabs most notorious failed state.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Jordan said to nab Islamic State terrorists for plot to attack Israeli soldiers
[IsraelTimes] Four arrested as part of cell inspired by group, according to Jordanian newspaper; military prosecutor says they also considered targeting Jews in the kingdom.

Four Jordanians allegedly involved with the bully boy Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
terror group have been charged with plotting to attack Israeli soldiers near the Jordanian border, the Jordanian newspaper al-Rai reported.

The four suspects, who were arrested by Jordanian intelligence, planned to attack and overcome Jordanian border guards before reaching the Israelis on the other side of the border near Wadi Araba in the south, the Monday night report said.

"Intelligence operations by intelligence agents resulted in the detection and arrest of the cell’s members, preventing them from completing their terror plot," the report said.

According to the reported indictment, the four suspects met in the Jordanian cities of Irbid and Karak. All were inspired by the bully boy Islamic State, which has conducted an insurgency in Iraq and Syria for years as well as terror attacks around the world.

Their plans grew more sophisticated, and the four allegedly discussed targeting not just Israeli soldiers, but also Jews — likely foreign nationals — living in the kingdom.

One of the four cell members was arrested at the end of last year, and the remaining three were caught in February, the report said.

According to the indictment, issued by the Jordanian State Security Prosecutor, the four intended to acquire firearms to execute the plot, but were arrested before they could purchase them, al-Rai said.

Jordan has had peace with Israel since 1994, when the two countries signed a historic treaty in Wadi Araba. The two sides have cooperated closely on security for decades, although worsening relations between Jordan’s King Abdullah II and former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu chilled ties in recent years.

The Islamic State organization has posed a challenge to Jordan’s internal stability in recent years. While the radical terror group — which sought to restore the glory days of the historic Islamic caliphate — has been on the retreat for years, Jordan still bears scars from the struggle.

In 2015 when IS burned captured Jordanian pilot Muadh al-Kasasbeh alive in a cage, it disseminated a graphic video of his painful death, shocking and outraging the kingdom.

The following year, IS-affiliated murderous Moslems stormed a tourist site in the southern city of Karak, killing 14 civilians and security personnel. Five of the attackers perished in the crossfire.

Police said the arrests were the result of a wide-ranging undercover investigation that concluded the killing was part of a feud between families over control of businesses in the city.

Mohammad Abu Nijm, a well-known activist in the political movement,

were maimed when a gunman opened fire on January 24.

The two were taken to Wolfson Hospital in Holon for treatment, where Abu Nijm later departed this vale of tears.

According to Channel 12 news, the investigation revealed the murder was part of a conflict between families in Jaffa that has claimed at least 10 victims.

Abu Nijm, 39, had no criminal background but was connected to one of the families that was party to the conflict.

The report said police concluded that those arrested — four men and one woman, all in their 20s — knew the victims and were residents of the same Jaffa neighborhood.

Abu Nijm was a well-known activist in the Islamic Movement, a political organization, religious outreach group and social service provider founded in the 1970s. The movement split two decades ago — the more moderate southern branch is represented by the coalition’s Ra’am party, while the more hardline northern branch has been outlawed in Israel.

Arab Israeli cities and towns have seen a dramatic spike in violence over the past several years. Government officials, both Arab and Jewish, have said organized crime is driving the body count.

Arab Israelis argue that police neither enforce the law in their cities nor work to solve murders in Arab communities. Police charge that Arabs do not cooperate with investigations by law enforcement, leading to low rates of success.

Some 46 Arab Israelis have been killed in homicides since the beginning of 2021, according to the Abraham Initiatives nonprofit organization.

In 2020, around 70 percent of homicide victims in Israel were Arab, although Arab Israelis constitute just 20 percent of the population.

EU ‘appalled’ by alleged killing of 2 Gazans by Hamas security forces
[IsraelTimes] Hassan Abu Zayed and Imad al-Tawil slain during or following altercations with Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, security forces, leading Paleostinian rights groups to demand independent investigations.

The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. groups call for independent investigations of both deaths.

Hassan Abu Zayed, a 27-year-old resident of Gaza City, was driving on Friday night when he was shot and killed by Hamas security forces, allegedly as he sped through a checkpoint.

According to the Hamas Interior Ministry, security forces spotted a car speeding toward them as they manned the checkpoint in Gaza City’s eastern al-Tuffah neighborhood. The driver ignored calls to stop, Interior Ministry spokesperson Iyad Bozm said.

"Two shots were fired at the vehicle, which did not stop and sought to flee. It later became clear that one of the passengers had been injured. He was taken to a hospital where he passed away from his wounds," al-Bozm said.

But the Independent Commission for Human Rights, who brought in a physician to attend Abu Zayed’s autopsy, said it had found unexplained discrepancies between the autopsy and the ministry’s account.

Imad Tawil, a 27-year-old resident of Deir al-Balah, was allegedly beaten by Hamas police early on Sunday during a raid by officers in the city’s al-Nuseirat Refugee Camp. A half hour later, Tawil began to complain of chest pains before collapsing. Although he was rushed to a nearby hospital, he later died, according to the Independent Commission for Human Rights.

Protests rocked the West Bank last month over the death of opposition figure Nizar Banat while in the custody of the Paleostinian Authority’s security services.

The demonstrations, which saw thousands take to the streets in Hebron and Ramallah, were brutally suppressed by Paleostinian officers. Human rights groups have charged that some protesters were beaten during the dispersal. Others had their phones and cameras smashed or stolen in an attempt to prevent them from documenting the violence.

In contrast, Gaza has remained relatively quiet since the deaths of the two men, although their funeral processions saw hundreds gather to mourn in the neighborhoods in which they lived, according to local media.

"In the north of the Aleppo governorate, militants of illegal armed groups operating in Turkey-controlled territories fired a guided anti-tank missile from the vicinity of the settlement of Qasar at a ZIL-131 vehicle of the Syrian army that was moving along the a highway near the city of Tel Rifaat," he said.

According to Kulit, one Syrian soldier was killed and three more were wounded.

On July 20, militants from Turkey-controlled territories opened mortar fire at the settlement of the Nubbol in the Aleppo governorate. One woman was killed in the shelling.

On July 21, positions of Syrian government troops near the settlement of Tel Tamer in the northwest of the al-Hasakah governorate came under shelling, killing one Syrian soldier and wounding one more.

The Russian reconciliation center continues to fulfill assigned tasks after the completion of the military campaign in Syria. The center’s officers regularly travel around the country's liberated areas to assess the humanitarian situation. The main efforts of the Russian military are now focused on assistance to the refugees returning to their homes and evacuation of civilians from de-escalation zones.
