[KhaamaPress] More than 60 Talibs were killed during separate operations of the Afghan Special Forces and Arclight airstrikes which were conducted in the past 24 hours in various provinces of the country.

According to the informed military sources, at least 29 Talibs were killed, one of their commanders was maimed, and vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device was destroyed during the operations of Special Force and airstrikes which were conducted in Baraki Barak and Charkh districts of Pashtun-infested Logar and Sayyidabad district of Wardak province.

The sources further added that similar operations and airstrike were carried out in Nowzad and Musa Qal’ah districts of Helmand

province and discovered 1 magnetic mine and 16 mine controllers. The bomb making material was removed from the site and destroyed to prevent it from being used in the surrounding village and wounding non-combatants," the sources said, adding that Afghan Special Forces conducted a separate operation along the highway in Samangan killing 4 Taliban fighters and wounding 3 others.

#4  Nevertheless, they persisted.

The Taliban get their foot soldiers cannon fodder from groomed Madrassah graduates in Afghanistan and Pakistan, generally going straight from the classroom to the battlefront. Those Madrassah students are a combination of the sons of the ambitious lower middle class, who can’t afford to pay the fees for proper schooling, and the desperate poor, who can’t afford to feed all their offspring. According to the CIA World Factbook, the median age of the Afghan male population is 19 and the fertility rate is 5 — so there are plenty more where these came from. The concern the Taliban should have is the number of trained officers they are now losing, compared to under President Trump’s predecessor.

Taliban commander involved in high profile attacks, assassinations has been killed in Wardak
[KhaamaPress] A top Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
commander who was involved in high profile attacks and liquidations has been killed in an Arclight airstrike in central Maidan Wardak province.

According to the informed military sources, the Taliban leader Ubaid was killed in Sayyidabad district.

The sources further added "An air strike in Sayyidabad district of Wardak province killed Taliban Commander Ubaida, a high profile attack and liquidation operative."

"Ubaida is believed to have been responsible for facilitating, ordering and conducting several liquidations on babus government employees and other non-combatants," the sources said.

The anti-government armed bully boy groups including Taliban have not commented regarding the report so far.

Wardak is among the relatively volatile provinces in central parts of Afghanistan. Taliban and other groups are active in some of its districts and often attempt to carry out attacks against the government and security institutions.

Police say owners of the house and a man who rented a room are being questioned.

The move comes barely two days after Vehicle Borne Improvised bombs (VBIED) hit a checkpoint near the country’s national theatre.

The blast caused the death of five people and injured nine others.

Turkish police raid HDP office, arrest 7 hunger strikers
[Rudaw] Police raided the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (HDP) office in Diyarbakir Friday night, arresting seven people who are on hunger strike to demand better prison conditions for locked away
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan.

"We have faced a very brutal attack," HDP said in a statement on Saturday.

The police smashed the office's windows and entered the building "alleging there were criminals inside," the party stated.

Police also beat a number of HDP members, according to Mezopotamya News Agency.

The raid was captured on video and shared by HDP politician Dersim Dag. Heavily armed police can be seen forcing their way into the building as people try to resist, pushing back against riot shields.

The hunger strikes have been ongoing for about four months. The movement was started behind bars by parliamentarian Leyla Guven 122 days ago. She was being held on charges related to her condemnation of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

’s military offensive in Afrin, northern Syria.

Guven was released from jail in January, but has vowed to continue her hunger strike until authorities bring Abdullah Ocalan out of isolation.

Ocalan, who founded the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), has been in jail for 20 years. He is being held on Imrali Island and is not permitted to have regular visits from his family or legal team. In January, his brother was allowed to see him ‐ the first family visit in more than two years. His lawyers have not been granted access since July 2011.

Guven’s hunger strike sparked a wave of similar action by Kurdish activists across Turkey and extending to Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and North America.

The hunger strikers have large popular support. HDP co-chair Sezai Temelli visited the Diyarbakir group earlier in the day on Friday.

HDP accused the police of "besieging" their office to break the hunger strike. The party condemned the crackdown and vowed they will "resist."

"You keep raiding on us. Don’t you have any other work?" MP Ebru Gunay asked police.

HDP is outspoken in its opposition to the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) of President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

Israel strikes Hamas targets in Gaza over rocket: army
[France24] Israeli aircraft struck Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip early Sunday after a rocket from the Palestinian enclave hit the Jewish state, the army said.

"Fighter jets and aircraft struck several military targets in a Hamas compound in the northern Gaza Strip in addition to two Hamas vessels," a statement from the army said.

The attacks were in response to a rocket fired from Gaza late Saturday that "in addition to the continued violence emanating from the Gaza Strip," the army said.

The rocket hit an open field in Israel's Eshkol region, causing no casualties or damages.

Gazans have been launching balloons carrying explosive devices at Israel and stepping up attempts to damage the border fence on a daily basis for more than 10 day, prompting Israeli retaliation.

Israeli forces said Saturday they had launched several strikes against Hamas sites in Gaza in response to a projectile launched from the coastal enclave the night before.

At least 253 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since March 2018, the majority shot during weekly border protests and others hit by tank fire or air strikes in response to violence from Gaza.

Two Israeli soldiers have been killed over the same period.

Israel and Hamas, which has controlled the blockaded Gaza Strip for over a decade, have fought three wars since 2008.

Israeli jets strike Hamas targets early Sunday after mortar launched from Gaza
[IsraelTmes] IDF says aircraft hit naval vessels belonging to terror group and military site in northern Strip, day after mortar and suspected balloon-borne bomb launched at Israel

Israeli planes struck targets in Gazoo early Sunday, the latest tit-for-tat cross-border fighting that has set the restive region on edge.

The Israel Defense Forces said fighter jets and aircraft hit several targets, including a military compound in the north of the Strip and two naval vessels belonging to the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, terror group.

Paleostinian media reported several Israeli strikes around 1:30 a.m. in the northern Strip near Beit Lahia, including on a seaside site known as al-Waha, or Oasis.

There was no immediate word on casualties from the strikes, which came after Paleostinian faceless myrmidons in Gazoo fired a mortar shell at the Eshkol region of southern Israel on Saturday night.

The army said the strikes were in response to the rocket attack, as well as "continuing terror activities from the Strip, including balloon explosives and causing harm to security infrastructure in the last several days."

The mortar was the third to be fired at Israel since Thursday as tensions between the sides continued to simmer. Gazooks have also launched balloon borne bombs at Israel and fired small arms across the border, along with near-daily protests at the fence in which fire bombs are thrown at troops and Paleostinians attempt to damage the barriers, according to the army.

On Saturday, sappers were called after a cluster of balloons suspected of carrying an bomb, possibly an anti-tank warhead, landed in Israeli territory.

And homeowners in the Hof Ashkelon region north of Gazoo said they found a spent bullet shell, possibly from a Kalashnikov rifle, in their living room, seemingly confirming that a large hole torn through an outside wall on Thursday had been caused by gunfire from Gazoo.

The past week has seen a marked uptick in cross-border fighting, including nightly riots along the border fence. There have been no injuries from the attacks from Gazoo.

Israel has carried out perfunctory air raids after each balloon or mortar attack, usually hitting empty military posts maintained by the Hamas terror group, which is the de facto ruler in the Strip.

Locals have urged authorities to seek a long-term solution, with the region appearing poised to slip back into a routine of violence after several months of relative calm thanks to a hard-won ceasefire brokered by Egypt.

"If the children of the Gazoo periphery aren’t sleeping at night because of the situation, it must also wake the policy-makers and those responsible for the security of the citizens of the State of Israel," Gadi Yarkoni, head of the Eshkol Local Council which border Gazoo, said in a statement, after a late-night air raid siren caused by the mortar fire Saturday night.

Egypt and other mediators have been working intensively in recent weeks to broker a new ceasefire agreement between the two sides, but thus far to no avail.

Top Fatah Official Escapes Assassination Attempt In Gaza
[Jpost] It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack, which came amid continued tensions between Fatah and Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede,.

The Paleostinian Fatah faction said over the weekend that one of its bigwigs in the Hamas-ruled Gazoo Strip was the target of a failed liquidation attempt.

Fatah officials held Hamas responsible for the shooting attack on the car of Ahmed Hillis, member of the Fatah Central Committee. Unidentified assailants shot up the car in the central Gazoo Strip on Friday evening.

Several bullets hit the car, but Hillis was unhurt.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack, which came amid continued tensions between Fatah and Hamas.

A front man for the Hamas-run Ministry of the Interior said that two suspects were jugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
on Saturday in connection with the failed liquidation attempt. Hamas security forces also seized the car that was used by the assailants and were seeking to arrest other suspects, the front man, Eyad al-Bazm, said.

"We won’t allow anyone to tamper with our internal front," the Hamas front man added. "We will take all necessary measures to maintain stability and security in the Gazoo Strip."

The front man did not provide details about the identities or political affiliation of the suspects.

Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
and several officials belonging to his Fatah faction strongly condemned the shooting attack against Hillis and held Hamas responsible.

Munir al-Jaghoub, a senior Fatah official in the West Bank, said that "collaborators [with Israel] were behind the cowardly and criminal attack."

Hamas, he said, "must assume responsibility for the liquidation attempt because it is the de facto authority that has absolute control over the Gazoo Strip."

Jaghoub warned that any harm to Fatah officials in the Gazoo Strip would have "serious repercussions."

Abdullah Abu Samhadanah, a top Fatah official in the Gazoo Strip, also held Hamas responsible for the shooting attack which, he said, took place as Israeli snipers were shooting towards Paleostinian demonstrators near the border. He urged Hamas to uncover the identities of the perpetrators and to bring them to trial very quickly.

Hillis said shortly after the attack that the Hamas security forces should assume responsibility for the liquidation attempt. He said that the area where his car was attacked was full of security cameras and the assailants’ faces were not covered. The attack, he said, came in the context of the prevalent state of lawlessness and anarchy in the Gazoo Strip. "It seems we are headed towards a new phase of anarchy," he said.

Hamas front man Hazem Qassem also condemned the attack and called on the security forces in the Gazoo Strip to capture the perpetrators.

Sources close to Hamas said they did not rule out the possibility that the liquidation attempt was the result of a power struggle within Fatah. They pointed out that Hillis is a staunch opponent of deposed Fatah official Mohammed Dahlan.

A former PA security commander in the Gazoo Strip, Dahlan moved to the United Arab Emirates eight years ago after falling out with Abbas and other senior Fatah officials.

Although he was expelled from Fatah at the request of Abbas, Dahlan continues to enjoy widespread support among Fatah cadres in the Gazoo Strip. Dahlan loyalists have regularly clashed with Fatah supporters of Abbas, the sources noted.

Hillis, who hails from a large and influential clan in the Gazoo Strip, is also said to have openly challenged Abbas and senior Fatah officials in the West Bank. When Abbas recently appointed Majed Abu Shamaleh as the top Fatah leader in the Gazoo Strip, Hillis announced that he does not recognize the appointment.

Russia and Turkey begin patrols inside demilitarized zone in northern Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Ottoman Turkish and Russian servicemen began on Friday patrolling the Idlib de-escalation zone in northwest Syria, Ottoman Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said.

"Today, Russia will begin patrols in the border area outside of Idlib while Ottoman Turkish Armed Forces patrols will start in the demilitarized zone," Akar said to the Anadolu news agency.

Akar said any Ottoman Turkish contacts with the Syrian government were "out of the question." He added Ankara, which supports Syrian opposition, had been in talks with Russia and occasionally Iran on the matter of the Syrian peace.

Last September, Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Suicide bomber strikes Syria's Manbij, injures 8: MMC
[Rudaw] A jacket wallah blew up a car near the tomb of Sheikh Aqeel in Syria’s Manbij on Sunday,
...a typo, as elsewhere the attack is reported as occurring on Saturday 9 March 2019...
the Manbij Military Council (MMC) media office has confirmed.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based war monitor, a jihadist targeted a convoy that included an armored US military vehicle.

The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group (ISIS), via its Amaq media outlet, claimed it had attacked four US military vehicles in a convoy on the road between Manbij and al-Bab.

Col Sean Ryan, spokesperson for the US-led anti-ISIS coalition, told Rudaw via email that no US forces have been killed or injured.

The MMC published several photos of the aftermath of the kaboom on its Facebook page, but is yet to release a detailed statement.

Sharfan Darwish, spokesperson for the MMC, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named the kaboom had targeted a passing military vehicle. Seven civilians and one soldier were maimed.

According to the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) affiliated ANHA, several people were maimed when a suicide bomber went kaboom! inside a car at a road crossing near a busy market southeast of the city.

The media agency said those injured are civilians.

ISIS grabbed credit for an attack in January which killed 19, including two US soldiers and two US civilians.

This is a developing story... Last updated 7.18 p.m.
The Times of Israel adds:
The attack is the third in the past two months targeting the US-led coalition and its allies in northern Syria.

On January 16, four Americans were among 19 people killed in a suicide attack in the city claimed by IS.

Manbij is a former IS stronghold that is now held by a military council affiliated to the SDF.

The city constitutes a major point of contention between Syria’s Kurdish minority, which maintains de facto autonomy in parts of northern and northeastern Syria, and neighboring Turkey.
Al Masdar shares ISIS’ claim:
According to the Islamic State’s official media wing, the terrorist Abu Abbas al-Shami carried out the suicide kaboom along the Manbij Highway in eastern Aleppo.

ISIS claimed the suicide attack resulted in the destruction of a vehicle and the death of three American soldiers onboard.
