A man in an Afghan army uniform turned his weapon on American trainers working with him in the country's east on Saturday, killing three of them, while an attacker with a grenade killed an Italian soldier in the west, officials said.
The shooting in Paktika province was the latest in a string of so-called "insider attacks" in which Afghan forces open fire on their own comrades or international troops. The incidents threaten to shake the confidence and trust of the two sides as the 2014 withdrawal of most of the international forces approaches.
An argument between the Afghan soldier and his trainers appeared to have led to Saturday's shooting on an Afghan National Army base in Paktika's Kher Qot district, according to a statement from the provincial governor's office. The international military coalition in Afghanistan said two American service members and one U.S. civilian died. It had initially identified them as three U.S. military personnel.
The angry Afghan soldier opened fire during the argument, killing the three foreign trainers and wounding three others, according to the governor's statement. The foreigners returned fire and killed the Afghan soldier, who had no known connection to the insurgency.
So far this year, there have been five insider attacks on foreign forces, with a total of eight troops and one U.S. contractor killed. However, the number of such attacks has eased after soaring last year -- in 2012, there were at least 29 insider attacks, killing 62 international troops.
Afghan security forces also are targets of such attacks. Last month, two recently rehired Afghan police opened fire on their commander at a checkpoint in a remote district in the country's south, killing him and six of his men.
The Taliban insurgents claim most of the insider attacks, saying they have infiltrated Afghan security forces or persuaded soldiers and police to join their side. However, the international coalition has said many of them are sparked by personal disputes.
In the western province of Farah, meanwhile, an Italian soldier was killed and three others wounded in a grenade attack on their armored vehicle in western Afghanistan.
The Italian Defense Ministry said the attack in Farah province came as the Italian soldiers were returning to their base from training Afghan security forces. The Italian convoy of three armored vehicle apparently had been slowed by traffic near an intersection when an attacker ran up and threw an explosive device into the lead vehicle, the ministry said. It added that the three wounded soldiers' injuries were not life-threatening.
The Taliban quickly took responsibility for the attack, with spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi claiming that the attacker was an 11-year-old boy.
But Farah province provincial government spokesman Abdul Rahman Zhawandai says an adult man was seen throwing a grenade, then escaping by blending into the crowd at a nearby vegetable market.
Saturday's deaths brought to 16 the number of international troops killed in Afghanistan this month. On Thursday, seven Georgian soldiers died in a truck bombing at their base in the south.
Taliban insurgents have launched intense attacks across the country as Afghan forces take over most security responsibility ahead of most foreign troops' withdrawal next year, more than a decade after the American-led invasion to oust the Taliban regime for sheltering al-Qaida's leadership after the Islamic extremist group launched the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the U.S.
Countries in the NATO alliance met in Brussels this week to lay out a new plan for shifting into a training and assistance role, but they did not agree on how many noncombat troops it will maintain in Afghanistan after 2014.
There are now about 100,000 international troops in Afghanistan, including 66,000 from the United States. Most of the pullout is set for this winter. The remaining smaller force is expected to be mostly American advisers.
However, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said Saturday during a surprise visit to Kabul that the German government is thinking about leaving behind 600-800 troops after 2014.
"The departure of our troops from Afghanistan will happen as planned but at the same time we will not forget about Afghanistan in the years after 2014," Westerwelle said, adding, "We will engage with them in a different way."

Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. , Nuristan, Jowzjan, Zabul, Uruzgan, Maidan Wardak, Pashtun-infested Logar, Khost, Paktiya and Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... provinces, as a result 53 armed Taliban were killed, nine maimed and eight other armed Taliban were jugged Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! ," the statement said.
However, nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits... it did not say if there were any casualties on security forces. Talibs have yet to make comment.

Galmudug is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation, but rather considers itself autonomous within the larger Somali federalism, for what that's worth... state. The top commander of the troops based in Hobyo who died after being shot several times is known as Abdiweli Hirsi Fara badan.
It is believed that sub clan rivalry was behind the murder of the commander as one of his body guards was also involved in the killing
Troops from Galmudug state secured the scene of the crime quickly as security operations are currently inderway in the town.

[An Nahar] Tunisia turned away on Friday eight Mohammedan preachers who had come from the Gulf to deliver sermons across the country, the interior ministry said on its Facebook page.
"The ministry... has banned the entry of eight people who had come from the Gulf to to carry out religious activities," the statement read, without giving any further details.
News websites suggested the eight men were Saudi preachers who intended to travel to several mosques across Tunisia to deliver sermons.
Since the popular uprising that toppled the regime of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali on January 14, 2011, a number of foreign preachers have visited the country to proselytize.
The rise to power of the Islamist Ennahda party in October 2011 allowed the creation of several Islamist associations, which occasionally invite Saudi and Egyptian preachers to give lectures and deliver sermons.
But President Moncef Marzouki has warned against foreign preachers from the Arab world spreading bad boy ideologies.
"We are not opposed to Tunisian preachers, but to those who come from elsewhere. We have enough preachers to win the battle against extremism," he said on May 11.
The political opposition in Tunisia has accused these preachers of trying to impose radical, foreign ideologies on Tunisian culture and traditions.

[Bangla Daily Star] Seven children, including two girls, were maimed as an abandoned homemade crude bomb went off at Namo Neemgachhi of Chapainawabganj municipal area yesterday.
The Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-charge Bazlur Rashid said some children were playing football near a mosque in the area around 10:30am. They found the crude bomb in a nearby paddy field, as they went looking for the ball. They brought the bomb back out of curiosity and to show it to the others. It had went kaboom! at that point and injured five boys and two girls.
Abdul Alim, 6, Mohammad Hasan, 7, two nine year old girls Rabeya Khatun and Misty, and three other 10 year old boys Wakil Ahmed, Mohammad Shakil and Mustakim were taken to the Chapainawabganj Adhunik Sadar Hospital immediately after the blast, said the OC.
Emergency Medical Officer Dr Shafiqul Islam said that Shakil was in a critical state as he received splinters to the left leg, right hand, chest and head. They had to send him to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Rabeya and Hasan were admitted to the sadar hospital due to their serious injuries, while the rest were given first aid, he added.
OC Bazlur said police rushed to the spot as soon as they heard of the incident.
An investigation has been launched to find the culprits who had dumped the bomb in the paddy field, he added.

The other worker, Sharafat Bibi, was killed instaniously, while Sumbal had sustained critical bullets wounds and was shifted to the hospital. However, the hip bone's connected to the leg bone... she died on Friday despite hectic efforts of doctors. The body was handed over to her heirs after legal formalities.

[Pak Daily Times] Armed militants opened fire on a NATO container and killed its driver in Chaman, Balochistan, on Friday, police said. Police said four militants on two motorcycles opened fire on the container-truck in the Grid Station area of Chaman. The container was carrying fuel for US and NATO troops, they said. The militants managed to escape from the spot following the shooting. Police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel reached the spot and started investigation. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

[An Nahar] Pak troops shot and killed an Indian army officer on Friday near the countries' disputed border in the Himalayan region of Kashmire, an Indian army officer said.
Friday's firing incident came two days after Pakistain's parliament elected Nawaz Sharif ... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf... as prime minister and he promised to seek good relations with neighboring India.
Sharif said after taking the reins that his government would "progressively pursue" good relations with India while actively seeking solutions to issues with India like disputed Kashmire.
"A junior commanding officer was rubbed out by the Pak troops near Poonch sector," a senior army official told Agence La Belle France Presse in New Delhi.
"Suddenly there was firing from the other side and our officer was killed," the officer added, requesting anonymity.
The dead man, named as Bachan Singh was posted in Poonch region at Saujaya, 200 kilometers (120 miles) southwest of Indian-administered Kashmire's summer capital of Srinagar.
Another senior army officer, Rajesh Kalia, stationed in Kashmire, said the latest attack had "not been declared as a ceasefire violation" along the heavily militarized frontier as a probe was still under way.
The Indian army retaliated in a "controlled manner and the area is calm now", he added.
A Pak military spokesperson categorically denied the allegation.
"No Pak troops carried out any firing across the LoC on Indian positions," he said in a statement.

The attacks follow the deadliest two months in Iraq in half a decade, raising fears the country is descending into a renewed wave of widespread killing like the one that drove the nation to the brink of civil war following the U.S.-led invasion.
Friday's first attack struck in the morning, when a jacket wallah drove his explosives-laden car into a bus carrying Iranian Shiite pilgrims who were on their way to visit shrines in the holy city of Najaf.
The attack took place near the town of Muqdadiyah, about 90 kilometers (60 miles) north of Storied Baghdad. Police said 11 pilgrims were killed and 31 other people were maimed in the blast.
Since the 2003 invasion, foreign pilgrims from Iran and other countries have poured into Najaf, whose Imam Ali shrine is one of the holiest sites for Shiite Mohammedans.
In the evening, attackers drove two more boom-mobiles into a major highway checkpoint between the cities of Fallujah and Ramadi in the Sunni-dominated Anbar province west of Storied Baghdad, detonating them nearly simultaneously.
Four coppers and four civilians died in that attack, according to police.
Medical officials confirmed the causality figures. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to news hounds.
Iraq has been ravaged by a spike in violence in recent weeks, with recent monthly corpse counts rising to levels not seen since 2008. According to the United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... , at least 1,045 Iraqi civilians and security personnel were killed in May. The tally surpassed April's 712 killed.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Friday's attacks, but Sunni bully boyz frequently target the Shiite-led government's security forces and Shiite pilgrims, who they believe are not true Mohammedans.
The attacks came a day after a series of boom-mobilekabooms in and around Storied Baghdad killed 14 people.

[An Nahar] The rebel Free Syrian Army on Friday captured a number of Hizbullah members in Damascus province following festivities, Syrian activists said.
"The Free Army has seized control of several posts west of Muadhamiyat al-Sham," the opposition Local Coordination Committees, a network of peaceful Syrian activists on the ground, announced.
Rebel forces have locked away Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un! "a number of members belonging to the (Abu al-Fadl) al-Abbas Brigade and Hizbullah," the LCC said.
The Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas Brigade, which is fighting alongside regime troops, is a guerrilla group made up of Shiite fighters who hail primarily from Leb, Iran and Iraq.
It says that its objective is to defend Shiite holy shrines, particularly the Sayyeda Zainab shrine in Damascus, from any attacks by hardline Sunni myrmidons.

[An Nahar] Syrian regime forces sought Friday to follow up on their victory in the key town of Qusayr near the Leb border by sending reinforcements to battle rebels in Homs and the northern province of Aleppo.
Government forces were also trying to mop up final pockets of rebel resistance north of Qusayr, the town which it retook Wednesday bolstered by Hizbullah fighters.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad The Scourge of Hama... 's forces were also sending reinforcements to Aleppo province, where large swathes of territory have been in rebel hands for months.
"Clashes broke out at dawn between the army and rebels on the outskirts of Dabaa village" north of Qusayr, said the Britannia-based group, adding Hizbullah forces were involved.
Official Syrian media had earlier reported that Dabaa fell on Thursday when there was, in fact, still a large rebel presence there.
A second rebel bastion north of Qusayr, Eastern Bweida where rebels and many maimed civilians fled after the fall of Qusayr, was still being bombarded by the regime.
"The army is seeking to impose its complete control of Qusayr and the surrounding area," Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told Agence La Belle France Presse.
"It is leaving no way out for the rebels, and also not for the maimed or for civilians. It wants to annihilate the rebels or take them prisoner."
The Observatory said government forces were also massing "in their thousands" in Aleppo province, aiming primarily to take territory along the border with Turkey.
"They want to cut rebel supply lines from Turkey."
The army's preparations for a new offensive came a day after a brief rebel seizure of the Quneitra crossing on the armistice line separating Israeli and Syrian troops on the Golan prompted Austria to announce to it was withdrawing from the U.N. Disengagement Observer Force.
The Observatory said "fierce fighting" continued on Friday in Quneitra, "including bombardment by regime forces."

MTV identified the maimed as Omar al-Nashar, Ali Toufic al-Shalabi, Abdullah Qaddour, Fadi Ahmed Nasrallah and Ahmed al-Qimi.
MTV had reported that "the head of al-Nashar family's gunnies" was maimed in the shootout.
According to Voice of Leb radio (93.3), the army, which had restored a tense calm on Thursday, was "shooting back at the sources of gunfire."
Voice of Leb radio (100.5) said machineguns and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) were being used in a "fierce manner" in the festivities.
Later on Friday, LBCI television said cautious calm engulfed the conflict zone and that the army deployed in the area after the withdrawal of gunnies.
One person was killed and seven others were hurt in fierce festivities on Thursday between members of al-Nashar family, loyal to Syria and Hizbullah, and armed Salafists from the Hajar family, who back the Syrian revolt.
It was the first battle since 2008 in central Tripoli, although frequent Syria-related violence has raged in other districts.
It comes after some three weeks of sectarian fighting in the flashpoint Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh neighborhoods, during which around 40 people were killed.
The state-run National News Agency had reported cautious calm on Friday morning in the souk area after the military took control of bases from al-Nashar family.
The festivities came after a security plan by the army managed to relatively contain the violence in the flashpoint districts of mainly Sunni Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen, whose majority of residents are Alawites.
