#8  Report yesterday morning from Yahoo pretending they aren’t editorializing in the news room:

Cochise County supervisors, Kari Lake and Mark Finchem had a no good, very bad day

In Cochise County, a judge on Thursday ordered the supervisors to certify the election and in under two hours, it was done.

In Maricopa County, a federal court judge awarded sanctions in a "frivolous" lawsuit brought earlier this year by Kari Lake and Mark Finchem.

“Imposing sanctions in this case is not to ignore the importance of putting in place procedures to ensure that our elections are secure and reliable,” U.S. District Court John J. Tuchi wrote, in a brutal 30-page opinion. “It is to make clear that the court will not condone litigants ignoring the steps that Arizona has already taken toward this end and furthering false narratives that baselessly undermine public trust at a time of increasing disinformation about, and distrust in, the democratic process.”

All in all, a good day for people who believe in the rule of law and the value of facts.

Cochise County voters were not disenfranchised

A pair of Republican Cochise County supervisors for several weeks have been playing games with the election, apparently believing that they could somehow stop the state from making it official that Kari Lake and company has lost the election.

And to heck, apparently, with the 47,000 mostly Republican southeastern Arizona voters who would be disenfranchised if their leaders succeeded. To heck also with Republican Juan Ciscomani, who, without those Cochise County votes, could not claim the congressional seat he rightfully won.

Naturally, Lake applauded the GOP supervisors’ refusal to follow the law, complaining that Secretary of State/Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs was a “tyrant” for taking the county to court to ensure those mostly Republican votes were counted.

“The illegitimate Governor-select is now threatening to destroy all those who dare question her authority,” Lake's campaign tweeted on Thursday morning. “This is the behavior of a tyrant. Not a leader. Arizona doesn’t have to accept this.”

Actually, we do. That is, if you believe in the rule of law.

After a short hearing on Thursday afternoon, Pima County Superior Court Judge Casey F. McGinley, who presided over the Cochise case, noted that state law requires the supervisors to certify the election. He gave them three hours – until 5 p.m. Thursday − to get it done.

“They will follow the court’s order and if they don’t then we will go from there,” he said.

Apparently preferring not to become a guest in their own jail, the supervisors certified the election 90 minutes later.

Meanwhile in Phoenix, Judge Tuchi granted a request by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors for sanctions in a lawsuit brought by Lake and Finchem.

You may recall that the pair -- with financial backing from MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell -- filed suit in April asking a judge to bar the machine tabulation of votes in the 2022 election. In addition to a hand count of votes, Lake and Finchem also asked the judge to order Arizona’s counties to use paper ballots, which was strange given that we've never used anything but paper ballots.

But then, their lawsuit was more a campaign stunt than a serious attempt to remedy a real problem – yet another chance to make baseless claims about demonic tabulators and all manner of nefarious plots to control who is elected ... and who is not.

The judge clearly was not amused at having his court used as a campaign prop. In August, he threw out their lawsuit, noting that the pair provided no evidence of a problem and no proof that a hand count of ballots would be more accurate.

On Thursday, Tuchi followed up by granting Maricopa County’s request for sanctions. It’ll be up to Lake’s and Finchem’s attorneys to pay the county’s legal bill because they signed the papers “which forced Defendants and their counsel to spend time and resources defending this frivolous lawsuit rather than preparing for the elections over which Plaintiffs’ claims baselessly kicked up a cloud of dust.”

“In sum,” Tuchi wrote, “Plaintiffs lacked an adequate factual or legal basis to support the wide ranging constitutional claims they raised or the extraordinary relief they requested. Plaintiffs filled the gaps between their factual assertions, claimed injuries, and requested relief with false, misleading, and speculative allegations.”

Remember those last few words: False, misleading, and speculative allegations.

I have a feeling we’re going to hear a lot of that in the coming weeks as the inevitable election challenges are filed, regaling some poor judge with all manner of hysterics about thousands of people turned away from the polls and scandalous black ballot eating bags and such

It’s heartening to know that judges still look for evidence.

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief December 3, 2022
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON TOP PAKISTAN DIPLOMAT IN KABUL – At least three unidentified gunmen carried out an attack that appears to have targeted the Pakistan Charge d’Affaires in Kabul on Friday. Ubaid Ur Rehman Nizamani is said to have survived the attack but a Pakistani security guard was gravely injured. Many have alleged the attack was the work of the TTP and comes days after the militant group called off a ceasefire with the government of Pakistan. The Taliban have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice but the gunmen remain at large as of publication. The attack puts the IEA in a difficult position with regard to its close association with its Pakistani counterpart (TTP) and a desire for continued relations with Pakistan.

  • SUICIDE BOMB ATTACK ON HEKMATYR’S PARTY OFFICES THWARTED – Another suicide bomb attack was foiled when two burqa-clad suicide bombers attempted to gain entry to a Mosque used by members of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar’s Hizb-e-Islami political party. The bombers were thwarted when they were challenged by security guards and both were killed along with a bodyguard of Hekmatyar. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

  • US PUTS A TTP LEADER ON THE GLOBAL TERROR WATCHLIST – Qari Amjad was added to the Specially Designated Global Terrorist list. Amjad is said to be the Deputy Chief of the TTP and is thought to be hiding in Afghanistan. The other 3 names added to the least are suspected of serving with Al Qaeda and may also be hiding in Afghanistan.

  • MINISTER FOR REFUGEES AND REPATRIATION SAYS IRAN IS RECRUITING AFGHANS FOR CONFLICTS IN OTHER REGIONS – Khalil Rahman Haqqani, current Minister for Refugees and Repatriation, while visiting Parwan said that he is aware of certain cases where Afghans had been recruited by the Iranian regime and sent to fight in Syria, Iraq, and possibly to Ukraine. He did not elaborate on details about the program. His announcement marks the first instance of a senior Taliban official confirming the practice.

NEXT 24 HOURS
  • ALL DIPLOMATIC FACILITIES IN AFGHANISTAN INCREASE SECURITY – Embassies and Consulates across Afghanistan are expected to increase security postures in the wake of the attack on the Embassy of Pakistan. Some may even suspend operations for a time to assess the threat. The Taliban are sending more armed security to patrol the areas around diplomatic facilities and security checks will likely include more scrutiny of individuals and vehicles as a result of the attack.

  • POSSIBLE KABUL CLEARING OPERATION – A source with the Ministry of Defense says the identities of at least one of the men responsible for the attack on the Pakistan Embassy are known. They are searching his last known residence and have questioned 2 neighbors about his whereabouts. Officials do not believe he, or his accomplices, have fled the city. A clearing operation in Kabul could take place soon. At-risk Afghans should avoid large concentrations of Taliban vehicles and personnel. If vehicles and Taliban security forces are seen loitering in areas where they are not frequently observed, it is best to leave the area as soon as possible.

the command's spokesperson, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the abduction of Oba Olukotun, in a telephone interview on Friday, said the tactical squad of the command had been deployed to the location.

The police spokesperson also said an investigation into the abduction had begun.

police from the Divisional Police headquarters at Oke-Agbe, headquarters of Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of Ondo State, have been deployed in the town to launch an investigation into the incident," she said.

Asked whether the command has established the whereabouts of the monarch, the police spokesperson said "you don't expect me to start sharing our operational tactics with the media."

The PUNCH reports that the button men had stormed the residence of the victim and shot sporadically into the air to scare people away.

Sources who spoke to the newspaper said the hoodlums also shot at the monarch’s main door to gain access into his residential building before whisking him away.

He said, "When they (hoodlums) got to the house, they surrounded the building and started ordering the monarch and other occupants to open the door and surrender willingly, but nobody answered. At this point, they started shooting.

"They destroyed the main door and entered. They terrorised Kabiyesi (monarch) and his family members before dragging him out and taking him away. None of the family members had been contacted, but we knew they were kidnappers."

The source, however, noted that nobody was killed during the operation which he said lasted for about 30 minutes.

Don't Accept Ebubeagu Operatives, They Connive With Killer Herdsmen — IPOB Warns Imo State Community
[TWITTER]

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned the traditional ruler of Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Fred Nwachukwu, against acceptance of the South-East security outfit, Ebubeagu, to be set up in any part of the local government.

IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, on Friday warned that should the monarch and the people of Ngor Okpala accept the setting up of Ebubeagu in the area, they should be prepared to face the consequences.

According to the statement, IPOB alleged that Ebubeagu operatives had been collaborating with Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
killer herdsmen and Nigerian security agents operating in Imo State to attack, kill and burn down communities in the state.

"We the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by the great indefatigable liberator Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu wish to warn the people of Ngor Okpala LGA, Imo State and their Traditional Ruler, Eze Fred Nwachukwu to never allow the murderous Ebubeagu militia into Ngor Okpala LGA or your people will bear the consequences.

"Ebubeagu security militia has been collaborating with forces of Evil herdsmen, and Nigerian forces of Evil security agents operating in Imo State to attack, kill and burn down communities since Hope Uzodinma captured Imo State Government through the back door.

"We are monitoring those behind the plans to deploy and set up the Ebubeagu security office at Umuneke old Post office. The people of Umuneke and Ngor Okpala Traditional Council are digging their graves by contemplating or succumbing to the pressure.

"Have you ever heard that Ebubeagu went after Fulani terrorists? Never, they can't because they are working together with Nigerian security to depopulate Igbos land and create insecurity while they blackmail IPOB and our leader.

"Before the people of Ngor Okpala accept Ebubeagu deployment in their communities, they should go to local governments in Orlu Provence and those in Okigwe Provence and see what the people are facing in the hands of murderous Ebubeagu militia.

"IPOB is warning Eze Fred Nwachukwu; don't say we didn't warn you that we don't want Ebubeagu outfit in Umuneke Ngor or anywhere in Ngor Okpala LGA otherwise they will dance the music IPOB and ESN operatives will play for him and his collaborators. Nobody should blame IPOB for taking any action because Ebubeagu militias are state sponsored forces of Evil against our people and we won't allow them to continue.

"ESN will visit that place anytime soon to safeguard our territory but if the people of Ngor Okpala insist on having Ebubeagu, nobody should blame IPOB or ESN. We have a duty to resist murderous activities of Ebubeagu and forces of Evil including their supporters. To be forewarned is to be forearmed."

Saudi Arabi sends more reinforcements to Aden amidst conflict with separatists
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
sent on Wednesday new military reinforcements to the city of Aden, southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, amid final moves to evacuate the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions from their main stronghold.

Informed sources said that a batch of Saudi forces arrived, in the past hours, at the Saudi-led coalition camp in al-Buraiqa area, in the city of Aden, coming from al-Wadiah border crossing.

The Saudi reinforcements are the third of their kind in less than a month, which have already been deployed in most of the vital sites in the city of Aden, after the STC’s factions were expelled from them.

It is expected that the move will spark a new round of conflict in Aden, amid expectations of direct confrontations between the Saudi forces and the STC, with the latter trying to defend its last presence in the political and military scene.

Emirati forces refuse to release Islah Party leader from captivity
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Emirati forces rejected on Thursday efforts to release a prominent leader of the Islah party, who was arrested a few days ago while trying to enter Mukalla city of Hadhramaut province.

According to sources in the local authority in Hadhramaut, the UAE-backed governor, Mabkhout bin Madi, and the commander of the Second Military, contacted the Saudi-led coalition operations’ room in Mukalla in an attempt to release the leader of the Islah party, Awad al-Duqail, but the Emirati officers refused under the pretext of his relationship with terrorism.

Members of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia, stationed in the al-Shaqqin military point in Broum district, had arrested al-Duqail after his return from Aden on board a bus, according to a statement by the Islah Party. al-Duqail’s fate has not been known since his arrest on Friday evening.

In a statement, the party stated that it had communicated with the governor of Hadhramaut and the commander of the Second Military, who confirmed their efforts to solve the problem.

Al-Duqail’s arrest at this time indicates that the UAE has begun to implement the Aden scenario, during which it succeeded in abusing Islah leaders and activists, especially the process comes at a time when Hadhramaut is witnessing an unprecedented movement to draw its identity in the future.

Leading figure in Southern Yemeni separatist movement assassinated
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] A leader in the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council(STC)’s militia was assassinated on Friday, along with his bodyguard, in Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...

According to the sources familiar with the issued, an officer in the emergency operations of the "Security Belts" militia of the STC, Nader Ahmed Salih al-Nisri, and one of his lover companions, Riyad Hussein Mohammed Talib, were killed when an bomb went kaboom! in al-Mahfad area.

The sources indicated that unidentified button men targeted al-Nisri’s vehicle, amid accusations against al-Qaeda members of being behind the liquidation.

This came after targeting two military vehicles belonging to the STC last Wednesday in the al-Mahfad area, which left dead and maimed.

Bangladesh
Rohingya rebel group ARSA denies killing Bangladesh intelligence officer
[BenarNews] Rohingya rebel group ARSA
...the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army: in Arabic Harakah al-Yaqin or Harkat ul Yaqin (Faith Movement, HaY), they’re led by a committee in Saudi Arabia and commanded on the ground by a group of 20 jihadis fronted by one Ata Ullah a.k.a. Hafiz Tohar a.k.a. Jununi, etc., who was born in Karachi and reared in Saudi Arabia. ARSA may or may not be a false-nose-and-mustache front for Aqa Mul Mujahideen, a minor jihadi group linked to al-Qaeda and the Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO). At any rate, ARSA has the vocal support of al-Qaeda’s Bangladesh offshoot Ansar al-Islam as well as Hizbut Tahrir, and has been running amok in the Cox’s Bazaar refugee camps...
on Friday denied Dhaka’s allegations that it killed a Bangladesh military intelligence officer last month, saying he died during an exchange of fire between Burmese and Bangladesh forces.

Officials in the South Asian country said that officer Rizwan Rushdie and a Rohingya woman were killed by suspected Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army members on Nov. 14 during a counter-drugs operation in no-man’s land near the border with Myanmar.

This was "not [an] accurate account of the incident," ARSA said in a statement.
"It was...someone else"
"We have later acquired audio visual evidences of the incident. We would like to clarify that gunshots were exchanged between Bangladesh and Burmese forces, in which a life of an innocent young mother, just after 11 days of childbirth, was lost and many others were maimed," ARSA added.

On Friday, ARSA said, "our activities are limited within the political borders of Burma."

BenarNews contacted Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal for comments about ARSA’s statement on Friday, but he declined, referring to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) or the police for their remarks.

The BGB did not take calls, while the communications wing of the military did not immediately comment.

BenarNews also contacted officials at the cop shoppe in Naikhangchhari sub-district where the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) officer and woman were killed.

Inspector Shohag Rana from the cop shoppe told BenarNews that he would not comment on a case under investigation.

"A statement from any organization will not influence the investigation," he said.

"We have been continuing our efforts to arrest the accused persons."

ARSA, formerly known as al-Yaaqin, is the Rohingya Death Eater group that launched coordinated deadly attacks on Burmese government military and police outposts Myanmar’s border state Rakhine in August 2017.

These attacks provoked a crackdown that forced close to three-quarters of a million people to seek shelter in Bangladesh, where they now live in sprawling camps in Cox’s Bazar.

ARSA said Bangladesh authorities were tagging blameless refugees as the group’s members and punishing them.

"[A]ny crimes and incidents happening in the camps such as the latest mentioned incident at zero point, in all such happenings most of the time innocent Rohingya refugees from the camps are labelled as ARSA members and extrajudicially arrested by the authorities."

Zero point is another name for no-man’s land.

Bangladesh police have blamed ARSA for the September 2021 killing of Cox’s Bazar Rohingya leader Muhib Ullah, who had drawn international attention to the refugees’ plight and visited the White House in Washington.

In a report issued in June, Bangladesh police alleged that ARSA leader Ataullah Abu Ahmmar Jununi had ordered Muhib Ullah assassinated because he was popular.

Some refugees also blame ARSA for killing Rohingya leaders who call for refugees to repatriate to Rakhine, their home state in nearby Myanmar.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his other shoulder......
police told the Agence La Belle France-Presse news agency that ARSA leader Ataullah was present during the counter-drugs operation in which the intelligence officer and the woman was killed.

DGFI has charged Ataullah and 60 others for the Nov. 14 killings, AFP had said.

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Zaur Yunusov, a resident of the Stavropol Territory, to 16 years in a strict regime colony, considering his guilt in participation in the Jaish al-Muhajirin val-Ansar
...in our archives as Jaish al-Muhajireen wal Ansar and Muhajireen Brigade, they are Chechen jihadis who joined the Syrian opposition in 2012 or so, then in 2016 they pledged to Al Nusra, which subsequently renamed itself Hayat Tahrir al Sham...
armed group banned in Russia, the press reported. - TASS court service.

The court concluded that on October 5, 2013, Yunusov arrived in Syria, where he joined the Jaish al-Muhajirin wal-Ansar and took the oath of allegiance to its leader.

"Until the end of December 2013, Yunusov, armed with automatic firearms and ammunition, took part in hostilities against government troops of the Syrian Arab Republic, guarded territories, structures and property, searched for the wounded and transported them," the court quoted on December 1 as saying.

In 2014, according to investigators, Yunusov was trained in physical and mine-explosive training for further participation in an illegal armed group.

Zaur Yunusov was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 208 (participation in an illegal armed formation) and Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (undertaking training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities), the agency reported.

The verdict has not entered into force and can be appealed to the Military Court of Appeal, according to a publication posted on the evening of December 1 on the website of the court. The report does not say that Yunusov is a resident of the North Caucasus.

The "Caucasian Knot" also wrote that on June 26, 2019,  the court sentenced  Timur Tumgoev, a native of Vladikavkaz, to 18 years in a strict regime colony, recognizing him as a member of the Jaish al-Muhajirin val-Ansar group.

According to investigators, in 2014 Tumgoev went to Georgia, then to Turkey, and from there to Syria, where he joined the militants. In 2016, Timur Tumgoev was detained in Ukraine, and in 2018 he was extradited to Russia at the request of the FSB. Tumgoev himself admitted only the fact of his stay in Turkey. In the last word, he called the accusation unfair, but expressed his readiness to go to the colony "by the will of Allah."

In October 2021, Alisher Kurbanov, a 37-year-old resident of the Stavropol Territory, was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony. The military court in Rostov-on-Don concluded that from 2013 to 2014, as well as in 2016, Kurbanov was a member of Jaysh al-Muhajirin wal-Ansar and participated in hostilities against Syrian government forces.

Lutke: +10,000 migrants, predominantly Iraqis, crossed the Belarusian borders to Lithuania in 2022 so far
[Shafaq News] More than 10,000 migrants colonists, predominantly Iraqi nationals, have crossed the Belarusian borders with Lithuania in 2022 so far, the head of Lutke (Summit) foundation, Aray Jalal, said on Friday.

Jalal said in a report he published earlier today that Lithuanian authorities have filed 154 lawsuits against persons smuggling migrants colonists accross the Belarusian-Lithuanian borders in the first 10 months of this year.

Data by Lutke showed that 8,000 illegal migrants colonists have crossed to the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
from Belarus in 2021.

Jalal said that 10,000 persons, mainly Iraqis, have entered the European Union illegally this year so far.

In November, more than 500 persons attempted to escape the temporary residence in Lithuania.

The EU accuses Belarus of flying migrants colonists into the country and then pushing them to cross into Poland and - to a lesser extent - Lithuania and Latvia in retaliation for sanctions imposed on Minsk over human rights

International organizations have accused Poland's right-wing nationalist government of breaching humanitarian standards in forcing some migrants colonists back into Belarus, a charge Warsaw denies.

Border Police officer stabbed, wounded in West Bank; Palestinian attacker shot dead
[IsraelTimes] After stabbing, suspect tussles with officer and tries to grab his gun before being shot at close range, the 9th Paleostinian to be killed in West Bank violence in last four days.

A Paleostinian man stabbed and maimed a Border Police officer in the northern West Bank town of Hawara on Friday, before being rubbed out by Israeli forces, police and medics said.

Border Police said in a statement that a team of officers was operating in the flashpoint Paleostinian town when the suspect pulled a knife and managed to stab one of the officers, lightly injuring him.

Other officers then "neutralized" the attacker, the statement said.

Footage posted to social media showed a Border Police officer trying to apprehend the suspect as two other Paleostinians were trying to pull him free.

An officer managed to pull the alleged stabber away from them in a headlock, but the suspect then briefly freed himself from his grasp and appeared to try and grab the officer’s automatic weapon.

The officer then allowed the weapon to fall to the ground as he pulled a handgun from a holster and fired four times point-blank, killing the suspect. He then retrieved his automatic weapon and appears to call for backup before the video clip ends.

Border Police said that the officer with stab wounds was subsequently evacuated for medical treatment, as was the officer who subdued the attacker. Both were lightly maimed.

Hawara is a frequent flashpoint with a highway running through the town being a main route for settlers traveling in the northern West Bank.

A later police statement said that the incident started when the Paleostinian tried to enter a vehicle with an Israeli couple in. While trying to break through the locked door, one of the occupants — an off-duty IDF officer — shot and apparently maimed the man with his handgun.

The attacker then ran at a nearby Border Police officer and stabbed him.

The dead attacker was not immediately identified, but he was the ninth Paleostinian killed in West Bank violence in less than four days.

Two Paleostinian terror group fighters were killed in heavy festivities with Israeli troops that broke out during a pre-dawn Thursday arrest raid near the northern West Bank’s Jenin refugee camp. Another Paleostinian was killed in festivities with Israeli troops in the northern West Bank town of Yabed on Wednesday afternoon. Four Paleostinians were killed in festivities with the IDF throughout the West Bank on Tuesday and another Paleostinian was killed after carrying out a car-ramming attack that seriously maimed a soldier that same day.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US-led forces resume normal patrols in Syria
[Rudaw] A US-led coalition fighting jihadists resumed regular patrols in Kurdish-held areas of northeast Syria on Friday after earlier Ottoman Turkish air strikes, an AFP correspondent and a Kurdish military source said.

Patrols were reduced following the Ottoman Turkish strikes that began on November 20 in Kurdish-controlled areas of Syria and Iraq, in response to a deadly Istanbul bombing that Ankara blamed on Kurdish groups.

The Kurds denied responsibility.

Hundreds of American troops are in Syria as part of the fight against remnants of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group jihadists.

Two four-vehicle patrols bearing US flags set off separately from a base in Rmeilan in Hasakeh province, the AFP correspondent said.

A vehicle belonging to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) accompanied each convoy, which travelled in different directions towards Syria's borders.

"The international coalition in cooperation with the Syrian Democratic Forces resumed its usual patrols in northeast Syria following a reduction due to Ottoman Turkish strikes in the area," a Kurdish military source told AFP.

The source requested anonymity as he was not authorised to speak on the matter.

The usual 20 weekly patrols had dropped to around five or six following the Ottoman Turkish strikes, which Ankara said it carried out with aircraft and drones.

The US supports the SDF, which is the Kurds' de facto army in the area and led the battle that dislodged IS from the last scraps of their Syrian territory in 2019.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
said it struck targets of the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), which dominate the SDF but which Ankara sees as an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
