[ToloNews] Victims of Friday’s attack on a mosque in Kandahar
...the spiritual heartland of the Taliban, so a double insult to their Islamic Emirate 2.0...
were buried in groups on Saturday.
People said the number of victims has risen to nearly 50 people and 90 injured.
ISIS has grabbed credit for Friday's attacks.
According to locals, this was the first ISIS attack on the Shia community in Kandahar.
Following the earth-shattering kabooms, a number of Kandahar Sunni people rushed into hospitals to donate blood to those injured in the attack. They said no group can create discord among them based on religious lines.
The Kandahar police chief meanwhile said they are working to arrest those behind the attack.
Eyewitnesses said four button men first opened fire on the mosque’s guards and one of them were killed by the guards but three of them entered the mosque and deronated their explosives.
In the wake of the explosions, Kandahar police chief Maulvi Mehmood said security for the mosque had been provided by guards from the Shia community but that following the "brutal attack" the Taliban would take charge of its protection.
Witnesses spoke of gunfire alongside the explosions, and a security guard assigned to protect the mosque said three of his comrades had been shot as the bombers fought their way in.
Sayed Rohullah told AFP: "It was the Friday prayer time, and when we were preparing I heard shots. Two people had entered the mosque.
"They had opened fire on the guards and in response the guards had also opened fire on them. One of them committed a suicide blast inside the mosque."
Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in its Telegram channel confirmed on Saturday, October 16 that the attack and twin blasts were carried out by them.
Khorasan branch of ISIS in their statement said that two of their suicide bombers conducted the attack on a Shite mosque in Kandahar province on Friday killing and wounding over 150 worshipers.
The statement of ISIS-K reads that the first suicide bomber detonated his explosives in the hallway of the mosque and others did it inside the mosque where hundreds of people had gathered to perform Friday prayer.
It was first said that there were three suicide bombers who shot the security guards of the mosque and then entered the mosque and detonated their explosive vests.
As per local health officials, the number of people killed rose to 63, and those who were wounded increased to 83.

[LIBYAREVIEW] The Libyan Public Prosecution decided to imprison three Libyans for detaining migrants colonists and treating them in a degrading manner, the Attorney General’s Office said in a statement on Friday. The statement indicated that the Attorney General ordered urgent investigations to reveal the circumstances of the death of a migrant in the Ghout al-Shaal shelter center on October 8th, in Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... Eyewitnesses told the Prosecution that they saw a security guard quarrel with a migrant in the shelter, due to the violence and beating up of one of his sons. The migrant died after being hit with an iron-bar on his head, according to the Public Prosecution report.
The prosecution’s investigations resulted in the identification of the perpetrator of the migrant’s murder in the shelter, and an arrest warrant was issued for him. The statement did not mention the name or the rank of the perpetrator.
The Attorney General’s Office denied the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) report that four migrants colonists were killed during those events, describing the statements as false.
On the 6th of October, 500 migrants colonists managed to escape from the Gheriyan centre and were chased by guards who opened fire using live ammunition.
The United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... (UN) has repeatedly condemned the inhuman conditions in Libya’s detention centres in which migrants colonists and refugees are held in severely overcrowded facilities with limitations on access to life-saving humanitarian assistance.

[LIBYAREVIEW] On Saturday, the Reform and Rehabilitation institution of Ain Zara, located in southern Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... , announced the repatriation of a number of migrants colonists, as part of a voluntary deportation programme. In a statement, the institution explained that the deportation process included 9 inmates of Egyptian nationality, and 4 inmates of Sudanese nationality, who were deported through the Mitiga International Airport port.
The repatriation of those migrants colonists comes amid severe international criticism against the background of reports of abuses and violations committed by the Libyan authorities against immigrants colonists and the suspension of voluntary deportation programme organised by the United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The Voluntary Humanitarian Return program, run by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), arranges the return of immigrants colonists stranded in Libya to their homeland.
Libya has become a preferred point of departure for thousands of immigrants colonists who attempt to cross the Mediterranean Sea to reach European shores.
According to the IOM, more than 18,000 immigrants colonists have been rescued at sea and returned to Libya so far in 2021.
Thousands have recently been detained in the most inhumane way, thousands crammed into hot and dirty jails without food, water and shelter. The refugees that were detained include many women and kiddies.
Armed forces in Tripoli began a series of mass arrests a week ago, detaining more than 5,000 people in overcrowded detention centres as aid and rights groups voiced alarm.
On Friday, guards in a centre killed at least 6 migrants colonists there as the overcrowding led to chaos, the IOM said.

MI-5 took an interest in 2019 when it looked like he planned to go a-jihading abroad, but they concluded he was not serious. It was only after the murders that it was revealed that Mr. Saadallah was the proud owner of a GNA [Libya] militia identity card...
who stabbed three people to death in 2020, has been denied permission to appeal his life sentence by a British court.
Given the arc of his life, I’d not let him try either.
Saadallah, 27 years, stabbed three men in Forbury Gardens in Reading, UK. He was sentenced in January, after admitting to the murders and three attempted murders.
The British Court of Appeal ruled there was "no substance" to Saadallah’s criticisms towards the judge who sentenced him, according to the BBC.
Saadallah’s lawyer, Rossano Scamardella had suggested the degree of premeditation and level of ideology did not reach the threshold for the life sentence. "We say the judge erred in that respect," Scamardella told the court.
Agreed. He should have been summarily executed following the verdict of guilt.
He added that the judge should have given a life sentence with a minimum prison term, and argued the attacks were not terror-related.
But the judge, Lord Burnett said the court has concluded there is no substance in any of the criticisms made of the judge’s conclusions.
"We are satisfied that the judge’s approach cannot be faulted, and there is no basis for suggesting that the whole-life order was wrong in principle or manifestly excessive," Lord Burnett said in his ruling.
He added that Saadallah’s planning and premeditation was "clearly substantial," and rejected the argument that he was suffering from mental illnesses at the time of the attack.

[OneIndia] The parents of the 30-year-old-man who was rubbed out by a terrorist in Srinagar on Saturday are mourning the shocking death of their son.
The father of Arbind Kumar Sah said that he had gone to Srinagar three months ago. He was selling 'gol gappas' with the hope to earn enough money to improve the lives of his poverty-stricken family back home.
However, death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate... that dream of the Bihar man was shattered as he was killed by forces of Evil who showered bullets at him near his handcart outside a park in the Eidgah area of the city.
Eyewitnesses said a pistol-borne Death Eater stopped near Sah's vending cart and shot him from point-blank range, killing him on the spot. Sah would sell 'gol gappas' every evening to strollers who came to the park and had made a few friends among them.
"He was a hardworking man. He had dreams of getting his family out of poverty back in Bihar. But that dream has died today," a middle-aged resident who did not want to be named said.
"His business was brisk. He was a likeable man, maybe that's why he had good business. He would often talk about his folks and poverty in his hometown," the resident added.
In the last two weeks, a total of nine civilians, including two teachers and a prominent Kashmiri pandit, have been killed in the valley and five out of eight were Hindus which clearly indicates that the forces of Evil are targeting Hindus and outsiders.

The airstrike happened at around 10:40 in the morning in Choman district’s Balayan valley.

Strikes were also reported near Pishdar, north of Dukan Lake.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... frequently carries out cross-border ground and air offensives against alleged positions of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), an gang fighting for greater rights for Kurds in Turkey that has bases in the Kurdistan Region. Ankara considers it a terrorist organization. In April, Turkey launched the twin operations Claw-Lightning and Claw-Thunderbolt against the PKK in northern Duhok.
Iran also targets Kurdish opposition groups within the Kurdistan Region’s borders. Kurdish opposition parties have struggled for decades to secure the rights of Kurds within Iran. From the mid-1990s until 2015, the parties based in the Kurdistan Region generally stayed away from clashing with Iranian security forces, but since early 2015 these groups have deployed units to mountainous areas close to the Iran border. From there they have sent units inside Iran and clashed with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other security forces.
Iran last month attacked the border areas of Choman, Sidakan, and Haji Omran on several occasions, targeting alleged Kurdish opposition group bases.
There have been more than 400 military incursions into the Kurdistan Region so far this year, endangering innocent civilians, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) coordinator for international advocacy Dindar Zebari said on September 22, without naming any nation or group.
Civilian populations and the environment have been severely damaged by the Turkey-PKK conflict. Several people have been killed, thousands of acres of land have been scorched, and people’s houses and livestock have been hit.
The KRG has repeatedly called on both Iran and Turkey to respect its illusory sovereignty and for the Kurdish groups to cease using Kurdistan Region territory to launch attacks on its neighbors.

British-Iranian mother Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has lost an appeal against a second jail term in Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The 43-year-old project manager, who lived in London with her husband and now seven-year-old daughter, has been held in Iran since 2016 and served a five-year sentence.
In late April, she was sentenced to another year’s imprisonment and banned from leaving the country for a further 12 months.
Nazanin’s Iranian lawyer was told in a phone call on Saturday that "the appeal on her second case failed," according to the #Free Nazanin Twitter account run by her supporters.
The judge made the ruling without a court hearing, it said, adding that so far there is no summons date for her return to prison.
Iran has not issued any official statement, following its usual practice.
Zaghari-Ratcliffe is one of a number of Western passport holders being held by Iran in what rights groups condemn as a policy of hostage-taking aimed at winning concessions from foreign powers.
The project manager for the Thomson Rooters Foundation, the data firm’s philanthropic arm, was arrested in April 2016 while visiting family.
She was convicted of plotting to overthrow the regime, a charge she strenuously denied.
She completed that sentence in March this year, only to be slapped with a fresh one-year jail term for "propaganda against the system."
The United Kingdom’s then-foreign minister Dominic Raab condemned the second sentence, saying that Iran’s treatment of Zaghari-Ratcliffe amounted to torture and she was being held unlawfully.
Zaghari-Ratcliffe has been living with her parents in Tehran while her appeal was underway, barred from leaving the country.
Her husband and daughter last month took part in a protest organized by Amnesia Amnesty International near the Houses of Parliament to mark her 2,000th day in detention.
Salah lived in the Mas’ada village in the Golan before he was arrested for trying to kidnap an IDF soldier in 1985 and sentenced to 12 years in prison. He was released in 1998, crossed the border to Syria and was voted into the Syrian Parliament a few years later, where he dealt with Golan affairs and Syrian citizens living in the Golan, according to a report from Walla.
According to N12, Salah spent four years as the representative of the Golan in the Syrian Parliament and then became head of the office that keeps track of Syrian citizens who still live in the Golan.
Beeri told the Post that Salah was considered a Syrian intelligence activist who was involved in recruiting sources in Israel.

[Rudaw] Two Ottoman Turkish soldiers were killed and four injured in a roadside explosion in rebel-held northwest Syria on Friday, according to a conflict monitor. Ankara has not immediately reported on the incident.
"Two Ottoman Turkish soldiers were killed and four others were maimed due to an IED [improvised bomb] explosion which targeted a Ottoman Turkish military convoy near Kafriya-Maarrat Masrin junction on Idlib-Bab al-Hawa road to the north of Idlib city," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.
Ottoman Turkish forces quickly brought in reinforcements to the area on the road linking the border town of Bab al-Hawa with Idlib city, according to North Press Agency.
Photos of the incident show a mangled armoured vehicle.
Ottoman Turkish media and the country’s defence ministry have not reported the attack that was claimed by Ansar Abi Bakir al-Sadiq brigade, a Syrian militia group that has carried out several attacks against Ottoman Turkish forces in Idlib. The group claimed that a number of soldiers were killed and injured in addition to the destruction of military vehicles.
The militia, an obscure group that announced itself a year ago when they claimed an attack on a Ottoman Turkish military base in Idlib, has killed six Ottoman Turkish soldiers in the rebel-held province in the past month, according to the Syrian Observatory.
The deadly blast on Friday took place less than 24 hours after a member of the Ansar Abi Bakir al-Sadiq brigade was arrested in Idlib, accused of planting explosives, according to the Syrian Observatory.
The brigade later denied any connection with the man who was arrested.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... has not specifically accused the Ansar Abi Bakir al-Sadiq brigade of attacks against its forces.

The SDF has denied any involvement in the attack, but Erdogan renewed threats of a new military offensive against Kurdish forces in northeast Syria (Rojava).
