Afghanistan
Woman Kills Self Before Taliban Stones Her to Death for Running Away from Home
[KhaamaPress] A woman in Ghor province, in central Afghanistan, did away with himself before being stoned to death by the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
forces for running away from home, local Taliban officials said.

The Taliban planned to stone the woman who bravely ran away from home with a man on Friday, October 14, but she took her own life to avoid being punished in front of everyone, as the Taliban had arranged for her to be stoned publicly.

According to local Taliban officials, the man with whom the woman bravely ran away from home was a married man. The Taliban executed the married man on Thursday, October 13, the officials added.

Abdul Rahman, the spokesperson for the provincial police chief of the Taliban for Ghor, said that the incident, in which a woman sentenced to publicly stoning did away with himself before receiving the punishment, was due to the lack of women’s prison in the province’s Dolaina district.

According to the Taliban security official, the woman strangled herself with a scarf, ending her life before receiving the punishment.

Officials of the Taliban government claimed that the man and woman in the Dolaina district of Ghor province were married, but not to one another and that they had run away from home.

The reports of women running away from home have recently increased in different provinces of the country, while the Taliban government has determined to stone them to death or publicly flog them.

This comes after the Taliban placed restrictions on women, one of which requires them to stay home unless there is an emergency and they must be accompanied by a Mahram (male chaperone).

Even taxi drivers and other urban transportation services were forbidden from picking up and dropping off women without a Mahram by the Taliban.

Daily Evacuation Brief October 16, 2022
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • BLAST IN KABUL – An explosion was reported in the Dahne Bagh neighborhood of Police District 2. It is not clear if the blast was a result of a terrorist attack or an accident. No casualties had been reported but information has been slow to come in.

  • MASSOUD FACES CRITICISM – Reports from within the National Resistance Front suggest the leader is losing popularity among some within the organization. Critics have pointed to heavy losses in the Panjshir campaign and an inability to effectively protect non-combatants in areas where the NRF operates. The criticism has extended online where many Afghans had blasted his decision to have meetings with the former National Security Advisor. While it does not appear he is at risk of being deposed or challenged, it seems clear that supporters are frustrated with the lack of strategic success. Rumors of an upcoming ‘end of season’ offensive may help restore faith. Our analysis indicates the NRF has conducted a masterful guerilla campaign and continually outperforms the Taliban with far fewer forces. Politically, the NRF campaign provides regional leaders and the international community with leverage to continue hounding the Taliban over domestic issues.

  • EXPATRIATE PEACE MOVEMENT FORMED – Former political and cultural icons living outside of Afghanistan announced in a ceremony, the formation of the National Movement for Peace and Justice. Hanif Atmar, a Minister of Foreign Affairs under the former regime, leads the group. He said in remarks that war was not the best way to achieve an inclusive political system in Afghanistan and this was the motivation that he and others used to set up a peace-based advisory group.

  • PRESIDENT OF TAJIKISTAN ACCUSES TALIBAN OF HARBORING TERRORISTS – At the 6th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures (CICA) held in Kazakhstan, President Rahmon addressed the body and accused Afghanistan of harboring tens of thousands of terrorists and of allowing terror groups to train suicide bombers. His fiery remarks were not condemned by those in attendance but Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi attempted to shift the talks toward promoting policies that would encourage the formation of an inclusive government.

Takhar: An NRF raiding party attacked a Taliban checkpoint on the outskirts of Talqan last night. Independent sources claimed 10 Talibs were killed in the hit-and-run operation.
TAKHAR: NRF forces ambushed a Talib roving patrol in Khwaja Gar. A vehicle was reportedly destroyed and casualties are suspected, but an accurate count was not yet available.

Al-Shabaab executes 6 over alleged spying for US intelligence in Somalia
[Garowe] Six men accused of being spies of the US were on Thursday executed by al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...

, the group claimed in a statement amid a crackdown against the terror group.

The group, which is an affiliate of al-Qaeda, claimed that the six, who it termed "serial" spies of the US, were executed in Saakow town within the Middle Jubba region of southern Somalia, which is the stronghold of the turbans for several years now according to security forces.

Al-Shabaab claimed that two of those executed were accused of playing a lead role in the death of Mohammed Abdinur Marwazi and Abdulkadir Commandos, two senior al-Shabaab leaders by dronezaps in 2019 and 2020 respectively, following a US military crackdown in the area.

The United States confirmed the death of the two turbans who had bounties on their heads through the US Africa Command, then under General Stephen Townsend. Commandos were believed to be a senior al-Shabaab commanders through rank at the time of his death.

Execution of the six comes as the last couple of months, the Somali National Army [SNA] with assistance from the US Africa Command and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] has been raiding villages across the country.

Significant progress has been made in the Hiiraan, Galgadud, and Bay regions, where the military has managed to seize several strategic towns from the turbans besides killing dozens of them. As of this week, over 300 al-Shabaab turbans had been killed in the last 30 days.

The group, analysts say, does not give the accused opportunity to be represented by their lawyers, and the death of the convicted is usually activated by the firing squad. This is not an isolated incident because hundreds of civilians have been eliminated in a similar version before.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the president of Somalia, has often expressed optimism that the group will be eventually defeated. The president, who has been calling for support from various stakeholders, maintained that the group will be fought both militarily and ideologically.

On ideologies, the president noted that the government will target revenue generation channels for al-Shabaab bad boys, a move that will sabotage them financially. The group controls huge swathes of rural central and southern Somalia and is seeking to topple the government.

Mozambique jihadi violence spreads despite military effort
NANJUA, Mozambique (AP) — Fleeing beheadings, shootings, rapes and kidnappings, nearly 1 million people are displaced by the Islamic extremist insurgency in northern Mozambique.

The 5-year wave of jihadi violence in Cabo Delgado province has killed more than 4,000 people and scuppered international investments worth billions of dollars.

In a sprawl of dilapidated tents and thatched huts around Nanjua, a small town in the southern part of Cabo Delgado province, several hundred families are seeking safety from the violence. They say their conditions are bleak and food assistance is meager but they’re afraid to return home because of continuing violence by the rebels who are now going by the name Islamic State Mozambique Province.
...since 2018 known formally as Islamic State Central Africa Province-Mozambique (ISCAP), whence they moved in 2015 from the Congo, where they had called themselves Ansar al-Sunna (supporters of the tradition), more formally as Ahlu Sunnah Wa-Jamah (ASWJ, adepts of the prophetic tradition). Originally led by Abu Yasir Hassan of Tanzania (also known as Yaseer Hassan and Abu Qasim), who moved between Mocimboa da Praia and the Congo until his death possibly in 2015. Al Shabaab-Mozambique funds itself through heroin, contraband, ivory, raiding, and selling the local girls into slavery...
More than 1.000 miles south, however, government officials in the capital Maputo are saying the insurgency is under control and are encouraging the displaced to return to their homes and energy companies to resume their projects.

"The terrorists are on the run permanently," Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi assured investors at the Mozambique Energy and Gas Summit in Maputo in September. He urged the gathering of international energy executives to resume work on their stalled liquefied natural gas projects.

Senior Al-Qaeda leader killed in Abyan
[HODHODYEMENNEWS] An emir in al-Qaeda’s terrorist organization was killed on Saturday in festivities that broke out in al-Mahfad district of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
province, southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, sources familiar with the issue reported.

According to the Sources, members of the UAE-backed militias launched an attack on a military site belonging to Lions of Islam affiliated with al-Qaeda in "Wadi Dhayqa" area of the same district, which resulted in the death of the so-called "Abu al-Omair al-Baydani," the emir of moral guidance for al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
The sources confirmed that many Lions of Islam on both sides were killed and maimed during the confrontations.

The operations of terrorist groups have increased significantly over the past two months, despite the military campaigns carried out by militias loyal to the UAE in the area.

Last September, the militia affiliated with Abu Dhabi announced the launch of a large-scale military operation to expel terrorist groups from the Saudi-led coalition-held areas.

Europe
Greece says Turkey forced naked migrants to cross border
[IsraelTimes] Greek authorities on Saturday accused The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
of forcing 92 migrants colonists to cross into Greece and stripping them naked before doing so.

Greek police said that coppers found the migrants colonists stark naked on Friday, ``some with bodily injuries'' who had entered the country using plastic boats to cross the Evros River, which forms a border between the two countries.

The migrants colonists told police and officers of Frontex, the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
's border agency, that they had been forced by Ottoman Turkish authorities to board three vehicles that took them to the border. The migrants colonists testified that they had been forced to strip naked before boarding the boats.

Police said it had provided clothing and food for the migrants colonists.

``Turkey's provocative behavior exceeded all limits,'' Greece's Ministry of Asylum and Migration said Saturday.

Migration Minister Notis Mitarachi posted a photo of the naked migrants colonists on his Twitter account Saturday, commenting, in Greek and English: ``Turkiye's behaviour towards 92 migrants colonists whom we rescued at the borders (yesterday), is a shame for civilisation. We expect Ankara to investigate the incident and protect at last its borders with the EU.''

Turkey regularly accuses Greece of violent mostly peacefully pushing back migrants colonists entering the country through land and sea, while Greece accuses Turkey of ``pushing forward'' migrants colonists to put pressure on the EU.

The migrants colonists are mostly from Afghanistan and Syria, with a few from other countries, such as Pakistain.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian killed, another seriously wounded in clash with IDF in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] Military says it used live rounds against ’main instigators’ during violence in Qarawat Bani Hasan; another Paleostinian shot after allegedly Molotov cocktailing bus in South Hebron Hills.

A Paleostinian man was killed and another was seriously maimed in festivities with the Israel Defense Forces in the West Bank on Saturday, Paleostinian health officials said.

The Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry initially reported that five Paleostinians were maimed by Israeli gunfire during the festivities near the town of Qarawat Bani Hassan, two of them seriously. Qarawat Bani Hassan is a Paleostinian town near the Israeli settlements of Ariel and Karnei Shomron in the northern West Bank.

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, the ministry said one of the Paleostinians seriously maimed, identified as Ahmad Muhammad Shamlawi, 30, had died of his injuries.
"Technically speaking, he F*cked around and Found out"
The IDF said dozens of Paleostinians hurled stones at troops in the area, injuring one soldier lightly who did not require hospitalization.

Troops responded with riot dispersal means, and fired live rounds at "main instigators," the IDF added.

Separately, on Saturday evening, IDF troops shot at a Paleostinian man who hurled a Molotov cocktail at an Israeli bus near the Zif Junction in the South Hebron Hills area of the West Bank, the military said.

The man’s condition was not immediately clear and there was no immediate comment from the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry.

In another incident Saturday, an Israeli man called security forces claiming to have been shot by Paleostinian button men near the West Bank town of Luban a-Sharqiya.

The IDF and medics scanned the area but did not locate the scene of the attack or the man who reported being maimed. A security source said the incident appeared to be a false call.

On Friday night, Paleostinian button men affiliated with the Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede, terror group shot up the settlement of Beit El, injuring one. One of the button men was killed by troops, and the second was arrested several hours later. Another two men suspected of aiding the pair were also detained.

The rising West Bank violence has also spread to Jerusalem, where Paleostinians have clashed with Israeli police and civilians.

‘Palestinian Doctor’ Killed During IDF Raid Linked to Terrorist Group
[LI] Israel’s Ynet News: "An official of the Fatah movement in Jenin said Dr. abu Tin had been a member of the organization and had "fought alongside its resistance fighters"."

Once again a Palestinian lie travels halfway around the world before the truth has the chance to put on its proverbial shoes.

On Friday, several international news outlets reported the "killing" of "two Palestinians" including a "doctor" by Israel security forces in the West Bank city of Jenin.

"Doctor among two Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Jenin," the Qatari state-run Al Jazeera TV network declared in its headline. The French state-owned TV channel France24 , echoed the Arab news outlet, reporting: "Two Palestinians including a doctor were killed Friday in an Israeli raid."

These news outlets, however, failed to inform their readers that both Palestinians killed in the said Israeli raid were linked to terrorist organizations. "A Palestinian doctor identified as a leader of the armed wing of President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement, as well as a Palestinian described by Hamas as a "fighter," were killed on Friday in an Israel Defense Forces raid in the West Bank city of Jenin," the news agency Jewish News Syndicate confirmed Friday.

To clear any lingering doubts, the PLO-Fatah proudly acknowledged the "doctor" as a member of their terrorist outfit in good standing. "An official of the Fatah movement in Jenin said Dr. abu Tin had been a member of the organization and had ’fought alongside its resistance fighters’," the Israeli broadcaster Ynet News reported Friday.

The "doctor’s" Facebook profile testified to his terrorist exploits. "The doctor[’]s Facebook page included inciteful content, the IDF said and added that he was masked and holding a gun when he was killed." the news outlet added.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah, Iraqi Hashd al-Shaabi helping Iran quash protests
[JPost] Arabic-speaking men have been filmed violently beating protesters in Iran.

Lebanese Hezbollah and Iraq’s Has’d al-Shaabi have been seen helping Iran’s Basiji forces crackdown on protesters across the country.

According to sources, plain-clothes men with Lebanese-accented Arabic were seen trying to suppress riots in various cities in Iran, including in the capital of Tehran. They are in addition to the hundreds of troops belonging to the police, Basiji, and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps who have been central in trying to quash the protests.

Iran has been engulfed in widespread protests against the regime since mid-September after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was killed in police custody after she was detained by the country’s morality police for not properly wearing a hijab.

"The Iranian state is a target and so any incident is exploited... to incite against this state."
Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah

HEZBOLLAH ON THE IRAN PROTESTS
In early October, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah referred to Amini’s death as a "vague incident" and that the protests rocking the country are not reflective of the true will of Iranians.

"The Iranian state is a target and so any incident is exploited... to incite against this state," he said. "This vague incident was exploited and people took to the streets."

Iran activists call for new mass protests as Biden voices support, death toll between 201 and 233
[An Nahar] Iranian activists called for fresh nationwide protests on Saturday over the death of Mahsa Amini, as U.S. President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. SOld, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant... or is that an act?...
voiced his support for "the brave women of Iran."

Outrage over the 22-year-old's death on September 16, three days after she was arrested by Iran's notorious morality police, has fueled the biggest wave of street protests and violence seen in the country for years.

Young women have been on the front line of the protests, screaming and hollering, removing their headscarves and facing off with security forces in the streets.

Despite blocked access to internet services and platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp, activists issued an online appeal for a huge turnout for protests on Saturday under the catchcry "The beginning of the end!"

They have called on people across Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
to show up at spots where the security forces are not present and to chant "Death to the dictator" -- a reference to Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...
"We have to be present in the squares, because the best VPN these days is the street," they declared, referring to virtual private networks used to skirt internet restrictions.

- 'BRAVE WOMEN OF IRAN' -
The protesters drew support from the US president, who said he was "stunned" by the mass demonstrations, now in their fifth week.

"I want you to know that we stand with the citizens, the brave women of Iran," Biden said late Friday.

"It stunned me what it awakened in Iran. It awakened something that I don't think will be quieted for a long, long time," he said.

"Women all over the world are being persecuted in various ways, but they should be able to wear in God's name what they want to wear," said Biden.

Iran "has to end the violence against its own citizens simply exercising their fundamental rights," he added.

At least 108 people have been killed in the Amini protests, and at least 93 more have died in separate festivities in Zahedan, capital of the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan, according to Oslo-based group Iran Human Rights.

The unrest has continued despite what Amnesia Amnesty International called an "unrelenting brutal crackdown" that included an "all-out attack on child protesters" -- leading to the deaths of at least 23 minors.

- INTERNATIONAL CONDEMNATION -
The bloody crackdown has drawn international condemnation and new sanctions on Iran from Britannia, Canada and the United States.

Iran's supreme leader has accused the country's enemies, including the United States and Israel, of fomenting the "riots."

On Friday, Khamenei's government condemned French President Emmanuel Macron for remarks in which he expressed solidarity with the protests sparked over Amini's death.

Foreign ministry front man Nasser Kanani said Macron's remarks served to encourage "violent mostly peaceful people and lawbreakers".

He said it was "surprising" that La Belle France was condemning Iran's security forces for dealing with "violent mostly peaceful people and rioters" when it was threatening to use force in response to "labor strikes in the oil and gas sector" at home.

"This is clear hypocrisy," he said.
Rudaw adds:
"Guns, tanks, fireworks; the mullahs must get lost," women without hijabs chanted at a gathering at Tehran's Shariati Technical and Vocational College, in a video widely shared online.

Scores of jeering and whistling protesters hurled projectiles at security forces near a landmark roundabout in Hamedan city, west of Tehran, in footage verified by AFP.

Despite what online monitor NetBlocks called a "major disruption to internet traffic", protesters were also seen pouring onto the streets of the northwestern city of Ardabil, in videos shared on Twitter.

Shopkeepers went on strike in Amini's hometown Saqez, in Kurdistan province, and Mahabad in West Azerbaijan, said the 1500tasvir social media channel that monitors protests and police violations.

- 'BRAVE WOMEN OF IRAN' -
In response to the protests, one of Iran's main revolutionary bodies, the Islamic Development Coordination Council, has urged people to "express their revolutionary anger against sedition and rioters" after prayers on Saturday evening.

A call also went out this week for "retirees" of the Revolutionary Guards to meet on Saturday given "the current sensitive situation", according to a journalist at Shargh newspaper.

At the gathering, a Guards commander said three members of its Basij militia had been killed and 850 wounded in Tehran since the start of the "sedition", state news agency IRNA said.

EU countries agreed this week to level new sanctions, and the move is due to be endorsed at the bloc's foreign ministers' meeting in Luxembourg on Monday.

In response to the protests, the clerical state's security forces have also launched a campaign of mass arrests of artists, dissidents, journalists and athletes.

Iranian filmmaker Mani Haghighi said the authorities barred him from travelling to the London Film Festival over his support for the protests.

The British Film Institute said Haghighi had been due to attend the festival for his latest film "Subtraction", but the Iranian authorities "confiscated his passport".

"I cannot put into words the joy and the honour of being able to witness first-hand this great moment in history," said Haghighi

"So if this is a punishment for what I've done, then by all means, bring it on."
From the Times of Israel:
Iran death toll climbs to 233, rights group HRANA says, as protests enter fifth week: US-based organization says 32 of those killed are minors, with protests over death of young woman in police custody spreading to 19 cities

  • Protesters are said to have gathered around the prison in the latest unrest in Iran
A huge fire erupted at an infamous Iranian jail which houses political prisoners in the nation's capital tonight, as unrest in the country continues following the death of 22-year-old woman who was detained by police.

Unrest erupted at the notorious Evin prison in northern Tehran on Saturday night, the Oslo-based group Iran Human Rights reported, amid protests over the death of Mahsa Amini, who died after being arrested for wearing a hijab that was 'too loose'.

Gunshots, explosions and chants of 'death to the dictator' were all heard in the capital, and witnesses told MailOnline they heard automatic guns being fired, thought to be by police.

State media reported that some inmates set fire to a prison warehouse and that the incident was under control, but gunshots continued to be heard into the early hours of Sunday as protesters gathered outside and internet was cut off.

There are allegations of torture, rape and horrific treatment of prisoners at Evin, which can hold up to 15,000 people.

It was where Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe was held during her six years of imprisonment in Iran.

The US-based Centre for Human Rights in Iran reported that an 'armed conflict' broke out within the prison walls. It said shots were first heard in Ward 7 of the prison, but this has not been confirmed.

Chants of 'Death to Khamenei' - referencing Iran's leader and one of the main slogans of a month-long protest movement that has flared over the death of Amini - could be heard in the background of some videos.

Sources from opposition groups in Iran told MailOnline that they heard multiple explosions, and saw prisoners sitting on top of one of the prison's buildings chanting anti-regime slogans.

There was no immediate comment by officials or reports from state media, but around an hour after the unrest was reported, state media said the incident was 'completely under control'.

But reports from those in Tehran suggest gunshots are continuing to be fired, and protesters gathered outside the jail along with friends and family of those inside.

One woman was pictured standing on top of a car near the prison, waving her hijab above her head in an act of defiance.
