#3  Is that the biceps tendon?. I have never seen so clearly defined. So thin. I guess that's what they want us to look like with this health push they've got. Doesn't say much for muscle tone then.

#4  Not the tendon, Dale, the edge of her scarf, of the same fabric as the gown. You can see it running very differently down each upper arm. Besides, biceps tendon inserts on the inside of the elbow, not the outside, if I recall my high school biology correctly. ;-)

US drone strike kills six in Somalia
At least six people have been killed after the US military used a remote-controlled unmanned aerial vehicle in southern Somalia near the border with Kenya, Press TV reported.

The US drone attack left six civilians dead and many more injured in the Dhoobley town located near Kismayo, the capital of the lower Juba region and a port city located some 500 kilometers (310 miles) south of the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Wednesday.

Hassan Ali, a Somali military official, told Press TV that the strike sought to target an al-Shabaab
... Harakat ash-Shabaab al-Mujahidin aka the Mujahideen Youth Movement. It was originally the youth movement of the Islamic Courts, now pretty much all of what's left of it. They are aligned with al-Qaeda but operate more like the Afghan or Pakistani Taliban. The organization's current leader is Ibrahim Haji Jama Mee'aad, also known as Ibrahim al-Afghani. Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, a Kenyan al-Qaeda member, is considered the group's military leader...
base in the area. However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
the casualties were all civilians.

The drone attack comes as 20 civilians, among them eight women, were maimed in a US aerial attack on the outskirts of Kismayo late on Tuesday.

Drone strikes in Somalia make the lawless state the sixth country where the US military has used remote-controlled aircraft to conduct such lethal strikes.

The US has now employed drones in Afghanistan, Pakistain, Libya, Iraq and Yemen to launch aerial bombings.

Somalia has been without a functioning government since 1991, when warlords overthrew former dictator Mohamed Siad Barre.

Strategically located in the Horn of Africa, Somalia remains one of the countries generating the highest number of refugees and internally displaced persons in the world.

Libya New Leaders Order Heavy Arms Out of Tripoli
[An Nahar] Libya's new leaders on Wednesday ordered all heavy weapons to be removed from Tripoli, warning their prolonged presence risked giving a bad image of the revolution which ousted Moammar Qadaffy
...a reminder that a single man with an idea can screw up an entire nation...
"We call for heavy weapons to be removed from Tripoli and all the liberated towns, and for them to be gathered outside town," Ahmed Bani, front man for the National Transition Council's defense ministry, told a news conference.

"Some people using these arms to play around gives a negative image of the revolution and the revolutionaries," following the capture of Tripoli on August 23, he said.

But Bani insisted that despite the proliferation of arms on the streets the Qadaffy regime's weaponry had not left Libya.

NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and organization....
's chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Monday called on the new Libyan regime to secure stockpiles of weapons amassed by Qadaffy that could fall into the wrong hands.

Arabia
Bahrain jails 13 over bid to burn police station
[Dawn] A Bahraini special court on Wednesday sentenced 13 Shia's to five years in jail for trying to set ablaze a cop shoppe during democracy protests, the chief military prosecutor said.

The National Safety Court, set up by the Sunni-ruled kingdom after Shia-led protests were crushed in March, gave six other demonstrators one-year terms in the same case, Colonel Yusof Fleifel said, quoted by BNA state news agency.

The group had been charged with attempting to burn down Al-Khamees cop shoppe close to Manama's Pearl Square, the focal point of anti-regime protests inspired by the Arab Spring.

The protesters had "prepared Molotov cocktails" and blocked the streets leading to the centre with blocks of concrete and garbage containers, but security forces managed to stop them from setting the station on fire, BNA said.

They were also accused of taking part in public gatherings "with intent to commit crimes and breach security," it added.

The condemned would be able to appeal the sentences at a civil court, the military prosecutor said, in line with a pledge by King Hamad
...King of Bahrain (since 14 February 2002), having previously been its emir (from 6 March 1999). He is a Sunni, while the rest of Bahrain is predominantly Shiite...
The National Safety Court, which has a mixed military and civil panel, has in the past four days sentenced more than 100 people to jail for various convictions over the month-long protests.

The quasi-military court has sentenced to death at least five Shia's for killing coppers and many more are still being tried for other alleged offences, among them opposition leaders and medics.

Authorities said in May that 405 detainees had been referred to courts, while 312 were released.

"Our rule"? Who is we, you scrofulous little pissant? The Americans, a mostly Christian nation, are not ruled by either the Jews who are their citizens or by Israel, a situation that is just fine with all involved. Nor do Israelis aspire to "run these people", as you so revealingly put it -- have you even got so far from home as London, you ignorant, parochial clod? You are neither a Jew nor an Israeli, and if your father fought in Lebanon it was for the other side, although I doubt he ever got closer to soldiering than sitting on the next stool down 't pub. Blood will tell, as they say. I'm going to leave your posts in the sink trap, so that if one of our real Israelis pokes his head in, he can weigh in on the question. Shelling Resumes in Sana'a
[Yemen Post] As the opposition is preparing for another massive demonstration today in the capital, following its escalation campaign plan, residents in Hasaba and Hail Street which witnessed most of the violence in recent days, told the press that the Central Security forces had ordered them to evacuate their residences.

Further reports from military sources and government personnel confirmed that Ahmed Ali Saleh, the president's eldest son and Head of the elite Elite Republican Guards corps had ordered his men to clear the area surrounding "Change Square" and Hasaba from all civilian presence. Government employees working in nearby ministers and offices were told not to come to work today.

Since these orders were followed by the arrival of heavy military equipment and the yet more troops in the area, many fear another escalation in the conflict.
"They [the government] have snipers and anti-aircraft guns on the roofs everywhere...they're planning to attack protesters again," said Ibrahim Manghary, a resident of Hail Street.

Early this morning mortar shells landing in a heavily populated residential area of the capital, leading to the death of 2 civilians, one of them a child and 6 other casualties.
As doctors confirmed that the victims' injuries were consistent with the eye-witnesses report. "The government is shelling us again...as if we were enemies of the state," said a distressed nurse at the hospital.

Several loud kabooms could be heard in Sana'a Hadda district at around noon.

Abyan Under Fire
[Yemen Post] Residents in Jaar, a city of the southern province of Abyan which has been for several months now under the control of a terror group allegedly linked to al-Qaeda in Yemen, reported another government Arclight airstrike today, in which 10 "Ansar al Sharia" faceless myrmidons were killed.

Despite earlier governmental claims that the province was once again under the regime's control, al-Qaeda gunnies have continuously rebuffed the Yemeni army advances, remaining in control of many towns and villages throughout the region.

Further festivities also took place in Zinjibar, the regional capital, which so far has had to ensue most of the fighting.
Military sources reported the death of 3 terror faceless myrmidons and 4 soldiers.

2 outlaws killed in 'shootouts'
[Bangla Daily Star] Two bandidos were banged in separate incidents of "shootouts" between their cohorts and law enforcers in Jhenidah and Natore early yesterday.

The dear departed are Mukul Hossain, 30, a regional leader of banned outfit Biplobi Communist Party, and Jahangir Alam, 45, son of late Shamsul Ali of Daulatpur upazila in Kushtia.

Four police and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel were also injured during the shootouts.

Mukul was wanted in seven cases including two for murder and four for abduction, reports our Jhenidah correspondent quoting Maj Sakhawat Hossain, commander of Jhenidah Rab camp.

A joint contingent of Rab and police cordoned off a field at Pairadanga village in Harinakunda upazila around 3:10am on information that a group of criminals were holding a secret meeting in the dead of night there, Maj Sakhawat said.

Spider senses tingling at the proximity of the law enforcers, the outlaws fired shots, inviting retaliatory fire by the coppers.

After the shootout, Mukul's bullet-ridden body was found lying on the spot while his accomplices managed to evaporate. He was rushed to Jhenidah General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
He's dead, Jim!

The law enforcers exchanged 48 bullets during around a quarter of an hour's shootout, Maj Sakhawat added. Four firearms, three bullets, two bombs and a knife were recovered from the spot.

Motiar Rahman, a constable of Harinakunda Police Station and Shariful Islam of Jhenidah Rab camp were maimed during the shootout, said Abul Khaer, officer-in-charge of Harinakunda Police Station.

Mukul's body was sent to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital morgue for his appointment with Doctor Quincy, the OC added.

Our NATOre correspondent reports, a team of Rab personnel raided a char area at Bilmaria in Lalpur upazila around 3:30am on information that some criminals were holding a meeting there.

Spider senses tingling at the proximity of the elite force, the accomplices of Jahangir fired shots, prompting them to retaliate.
[BANG! BANG! BANGETY BANG!]
which triggered a shootout, said Squadron Leader Kamrul Islam, the Rab chief in NATOre.

Jahangir's bullet-ridden body was found lying on the spot while his accomplices managed to evaporate.

Rab exchanged 16 bullets during the nearly 15-minute 'shootout', the Rab chief continued adding that Jahangir was leading the infamous Panna Bahini after the death of its chief Panna in 2005.

He was accused in seven cases including murder and extortion, he added. Rab team also recovered five firearms and 54 bullets from the spot.

Two Rab members--Havilder Tozammel and Nayek Jahurul--also received minor injuries during the shootout and took primary treatment at Natore Sadar Hospital.

They were later shifted to Rajshahi Police Hospital, said Major Anowar, deputy director of Rab-5 in Rajshahi.

Turkish Police Detain 150 People on Terror Charges
[An Nahar] Turkish police on Tuesday jugged over 140 people with suspected links to Kurdish rebels in three main cities, media reports said.

Police early Tuesday morning tossed in the clink 90 people in Istanbul after raiding several addresses around the city, Anatolia news agency reported.

The suspects are accused of having links to the urban wing of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Police also jugged 31 people in Diyarbakir, the regional capital of the mainly Kurdish southeast and 20 people in city of Gaziantep in the same region on the same charges, NTV news channel reported.

Currently, more than 2,500 Kurds, including members and five parliamentarians of the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party, are in jail with the same accusation.

Begin boilerplate...

Pakistan nabs dozens over Shia killings
Pak police have jugged scores of suspects after being criticized for inaction over increased number of Shia Mohammedan killings in the violence-hit country.

"We have rounded up about 100 people. They are being interrogated," senior police officer Hamid Shakeel told AFP in Quetta, which is located 700 kilometers (435 miles) southwest of the Pak capital Islamabad, on Wednesday.

Residents said police launched a crackdown in the city after hundreds of people staged a protest rally condemning police inaction.

Southeast Asia
One killed in series of attacks in southern Thailand
One woman was killed, her neighbour seriously injured and four soldiers wounded in a series of attacks by terrorists militants in Narathiwat province on Wednesday night. The deputy chief of Cho Airong district police said the attacks were conducted by three teams of terrorists insurgents.

In the first attack, men armed with M16 and AK47 rifles broke into the house of Jintana sae Tiew, 46, a Buddhist, about 9:30 p.m. They shot Ms Jintana many times, killing her.

The terrorists militants also shot her neighbor, Abdulkarim Masae, 46, a former provincial council member, who looked out of his window upon hearing the gunshots. The man was hit in the head and seriously injured.

A team of four soldiers was then attacked on the way to the scene of the incident. Their pick-up truck was hit by a home-made bomb detonated by terrorists militants. All four of them were injured and the vehicle damaged.

In the third attack, terrorists militants detonated a bomb as Masakri Sali, an assistant Cho Airong district chief, and a number of defense volunteers were also heading to the scene of the first incident. The bomb exploded just after their vehicle ran past the spot where it was hidden. Nobody was hurt.

Defense volunteer shot and wounded

A defense volunteer was shot and seriously wounded in an ambush in Yala province on Thursday morning. Abdulloh Muyadeng, 27, was attacked on a local road about 10 a.m. by gunmen hiding in a roadside forest. He was shot in the face and taken to the hospital.

Police blamed separatist terrorists militants.

Syrian TV interviews woman reported killed
[Emirates 24/7] A woman appeared on Syrian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
Wednesday claiming that she is the young Syrian who was widely reported to have been beheaded and mutilated by security agents while in jug last month. The station said the interview was intended to discredit foreign "media fabrications."

Human rights groups, including Amnesia Amnesty International, and Syrian activists reported last month that 18-year-old Zainab al-Hosni was found dead and mutilated after she was jugged in her hometown of Homs. The young woman quickly became a symbol of the 6-month-old uprising against authoritarian President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators. Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor...
, with protesters hailing her as the "flower of Syria."

Last month, Amnesty said the mutilated teenager had reportedly been jugged by security agents to pressure her activist brother to turn himself in. Activists said she was the first woman to die in jug since the uprising began in March and it reinforced what witnesses and the U.N. human rights

office said was a fearsome new tactic of retaliating against protesters' families.

But in the state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
interview, a black-clad young woman who identified herself as Zainab al-Hosni said she had run away from her family home in late July because her brothers allegedly abused her. She said her family did not know that she was alive and she asked her mother for forgiveness.

"I am very much alive and I have opted to tell the truth because I am planning to get married in the future and have kids who I want to be registered," she said.

She said she decided to speak out after hearing on TV that she had been tossed in the calaboose and beheaded. Her appearance was similar to the woman whose photos were carried by protesters in Homs, but her identity could not be independently verified, as all media are severely restricted from reporting on events in Syria.

Amnesia Amnesty International issued a statement after the interview saying it raised questions about the information the group received that led to its initial report on the death and mutilation.

"We have seen the reports that have aired on Syria TV suggesting that Zainab al-Hosni is alive. We are currently looking into this case working with trusted sources in the country," Amnesty said.

The rights group said its initial statement on the death was "based on information provided by sources close to the incident itself, who passed Amnesia Amnesty International video footage of a dismembered body." It was not immediately clear who those sources were.

The statement went on to say: "If the body was not that of Zainab al-Hosni, then clearly the Syrian authorities need to disclose whose it was, the cause and circumstances of the death, and why Zainab al-Hosni's family were informed that she was the victim."

The episode, and Amnesty's statement raised the prospect that the story may have been a hoax planted by Syrian authorities, possibly in an effort to embarrass the media and human rights group who have been reporting critically on the government's brutal crackdown on mostly peaceful protesters that has killed nearly 3,000 people in six months.

The Syrian government blames the country's unrest on a foreign conspiracy and accuses the international media of spreading lies. State media allots much of its time and resources to discounting what it says are foreign media fabrications and lies. There are no independent or pro-opposition media outlets in Syria.

Was she wearing proper attire? If so the statement should read her 'potato sack looked like...' and if not, then why wasn't she killed and beheaded?

Syrian Raid on Homes of Lebanese Brothers in Arsal
[An Nahar] Syrian troops violated Lebanese territory on Tuesday and raided the homes of two brothers in the eastern town of Arsal, the third such infiltration in two weeks.

An Nahar daily on Wednesday quoted an eyewitness identified by his initials as H.S. as saying that two BTR-type armored personnel carriers along with a pickup carrying Syrian soldiers crossed the border at around 4:00 pm in the area of Kherbet Daoud.

The zone is part of Arsal that lies 10 kilometers from the Ain Arab area in Syria, the newspaper said.

The soldiers raided the homes of Zahri and Abdel Aziz al-Jabawi randomly firing from their machineguns. They later returned to the location where they came from.

An Nahar's correspondent said the Syrian soldiers had opened the door of Zahri al-Jabawi's house by firing on it. Several bullets had hit the walls and a television.

The soldiers had later entered a nearby courtyard that is used as a barn in the summer and for gathering used batteries to burn them and extract tin from them.

The owner told the newspaper that a satellite dish and two power generators were missing. He blamed residents of the Syrian town of Qara on the incident saying the raid was carried out against the backdrop of a land property dispute between them and al-Jabawi family.

The members of the Syrian army unit also raided Abdel Aziz al-Jabawi's house that lies 100 meters away. But they only forced open its doors.

The National News Agency said Tuesday that two Syrian tanks entered Arsal and shot up an abandoned battery factory.

On Monday, more than 20 Syrian soldiers infiltrated 500 meters deep into Lebanese territory in the area of Rajam Beit Khalaf and al-Kalkha in Wadi Khaled in the northern province of Akkar.

Two weeks ago, a unit from the Syrian military accidentally fired at the Lebanese army after it infiltrated an area near the town of al-Mwanseh also in the north.

#1  Pathetic.

When we invaded Lebanon we extinguished 1200 terrorists and destroyed their mosques and their churches.

Southern Lebanon is part of great Israel. Look at the original maps that the Zionists drew up - Lebanon is sitting on OUR land. It is an insult to build a church or mosque on land that was given to us, or to worship their heretic religions there.

Assad Says he Would Ask for Hizbullah Help if Syria Was Attacked
[An Nahar] Syrian President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

has warned that he would "set fire" to the Middle East if foreign forces launched a military strike on his country and would ask for Hizbullah's help to attack Israel.

An Arab source told Iran's Fars news Agency that Assad made the warning to Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu during his visit to Damascus
...The City of Jasmin is the oldest continuously-inhabited city in the world. It has not always been inhabited by the same set of fascisti...
.

"If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than six hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv," Assad said.

The Arab source said that the Syrian president told the Turkish FM that he would also call on Hizbullah to launch a rocket attack on the Jewish state.

"All these events will happen in three hours, but in the second three hours, Iran will attack the U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf and the U.S. and European interests will be targeted simultaneously," he reportedly said.

Assad's warning came after Davutoglu informed him that he would face a war similar to the NATO

aggression on the Libyan regime if he continued to crack down on his people.
