#2  I saw an author interviewed on the Steve Bannon's show this a.m..  His name is Dr. Joseph A. Lapado.  He is the Surgeon General of Florida under Gov. Ron DeSantis. His new book is "Transcend Fear: A Blueprint for Mindful Leadership in Public Health."  It is available in various places.  Wikipedia is not particularky kind to the author in their description of the author which to me is a good endorsement. He is also called "controversial."  Based on the interview, his book is about his personal journey as well as public health policy. He said he was successful on the outside but a mess on the inside for years. His wife found a good therapist for him; a Navy Seal turned therapist in L.A..  I have not read the book but plan to. It might be a good read.

US takes out Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al Zawahiri in 'successful' Afghanistan counterterrorism operation
48 Hour Rule.
[FOX] Two intelligence sources tell Fox News Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al Zawahiri was killed in the CIA drone strike.

The United States conducted a "successful" counterterrorism operation against a "significant" Al Qaeda target Ayman Al Zawahiri in Afghanistan over the weekend, a senior administration official told Fox News.

President Biden on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. E.T. is expected to address the nation from the White House on the operation.

"Over the weekend, the United States conducted a counterterrorism operation against a significant Al Qaeda target in Afghanistan," the senior administration official told Fox News Monday. "The operation was successful and there were no civilian casualties."

You are correct, apparently they got word on his location in the spring...and held until now...likely a political decision directed by our amateur National Security Advisor. I don't trust any of the info being released at this point, because at this point nothing is as it seems.

Ole Z was Egypt centric...and apparently lured back to AF by Mr. Haqqani? WTF? I don't understand, but I guess it worked out for us. And now the parlor game is to guess who in the Taliban leadership snitched on Sirajuddin Haqqani and his BFF houseguest Zawahiri? My guess is one of the Taliban Five (Fazl or Wasiq) that returned to Taliban gov service and didn't want to risk a round two tangle with the US...which means Sirajuddin is a marked man (and he should be).

Iran border guards clash with Afghanistan’s Taliban
[IsraelTimes] Clashes break out between Iranian border guards and Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
forces, officials say, with the Afghan side confirming one of their border officers was killed and another maimed.

Both sides accused the other of opening fire first.

"There was a clash between the border guards of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran
...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both...
and the Taliban forces," Meysam Barazandeh, governor of Iran’s Hirmand county, is quoted as saying by the Fars news agency.

He adds that "the conflict was brief and has ended."

Fars reports that festivities took place on the Iranian side of the border, in the Shaghalak area of Hirmand country, in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

"A border violation by the Taliban took place today," Barazandeh says, adding that "our forces gave the necessary response," and that there "were no casualties" on the Iranian side.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency says Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
forces shot at some houses in the town of Dust Mohammad, which was followed by an exchange of fire "for several minutes."

A statement issued by Afghanistan’s Nimroz provincial information center blamed Iranian border guards for the incident.

"Iranian border forces fired at a patrol of our border forces in Kang district of Nimroz province," the statement says.

"After that they (Iranian forces) fired in the area with light and heavy weapons. In this shooting, one of our border force personnel was martyred and another injured," it adds.

Iran, like many other nations, has so far not recognized the new government formed by the Taliban after it took power amid a hasty withdrawal by US-led foreign forces in August 2021.

Religious Scholar Gunned Down in Northeastern Afghanistan
Another one killed by the Taliban because they aren’t quite in agreement? Or perhaps he diddled the wrong father’s child...
[KhaamaPress] Local sources in the Afghan northeastern province of Kunar say that unidentified button men killed a religious scholar in Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
According to the sources, the victim is identified as an Imam (prayer leader) of a mosque in Kunar province, who went by the name Sheikh Mohammad Israel Sahibzada.

The religious scholar is reportedly killed by unknown gunnies on Friday evening, 29th of July, as he was returning home from prayer in the Sahibzada village in Kunar province.

While the Taliban

officials have not yet responded to the accident, the perpetrators are alleged to have fled the scene of the crime.

Afghanistan’s capital and provinces have experienced a rise in insecurity recently.

A leading Salafi scholar and well-known religious figure, Sardar Wali Saqib, was murdered at his place of residence two weeks ago in Kabul.

Sheikh Sardar Wali Saqib was the head of a religious seminary in the Naranjebagh region of Jalalabad district, in the center of Nangarhar

province, where many students are pursuing religious education.

Despite the Taliban’s claims of security, mysterious killings and other crimes continue in several provinces.

Former NDS Director Says American Drones Struck Different Locations of Afghan Capital, prob ISIS-K hideouts
[KhaamaPress] Rahmatullah Nabil, former director of the Afghan National Directorate of Security
...the Afghan national intel agency...
(NDS), claims that American drones were spotted in Kabul’s airspace and attacked various Kabul locations.

Following reports of at least two explosions in the capital’s Wazir Akbar Khan and Sherpur areas, Nabil posted his statement on his Twitter handle.

"American drones were seen in the airspace of KBL and struck different locations in Kabul," the former NDS director wrote.

Nabil also stated that the earth-shattering kabooms that occurred on Sunday in Kabul are "most likely" a "IS-K hideout," citing a clause of the Doha agreement, to which the US and the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
are parties, which states that the US will help the Taliban combat and defeat IS-K.

He also cautioned that Afghanistan is in grave danger of turning into a haven and sanctuary for turbans and terrorists.

Taliban security authorities claim that a rocket was launched at the Wazir Akbar Khan area of Kabul and landed close to the area’s 11th street following the release of news about the occurrence of at least two explosions in the capital.

The rocket struck a vacant house, according to Khalid Zadran, the Taliban’s front man for the Kabul Police on Sunday, July 31. No one was injured in the incidents.

Another explosion in Kabul’s Dehmazang area was also reported by the locals, resulting in no immediate casualties.

Both occurrences have not yet been claimed by a group or organization.

Sunday Explosions in Afghan Capital Inflict No Immediate Casualties: Taliban Officials

[KhaamaPress] Locals in the Kabul areas of Sherpur and Wazir Akbar Khan have reported two explosions, and there have also been reports of explosions in the Dehmazang area of the Afghan capital. According to Taliban
...Arabic for students...
security authorities, no immediate casualties were caused by the earth-shattering kabooms on Sunday morning.

According to the security officers of the Taliban government, the occurrence in Sherpur and Wazir Akbar Khan on July 31st took place at about 6:30 am.

The Taliban Ministry of Defense front man, Abdul Nafi Takor, stated that no one was hurt when a rocket struck an unoccupied house in Kabul’s Sherpur area.

As for the earth-shattering kabooms, some sources claim that they were brought on by the landing of two rockets near the Wazir Akbar Khan and Sherpur areas of Kabul.

Both instances have gone unclaimed thus far by any group or organization.

Since the Taliban seized power, there have been more attacks in Afghanistan, despite the Taliban’s assurances of security.

Additionally, earlier this month, the United Nations

Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) issued a report documenting the human rights

situation in Afghanistan during the past 10 months since the Taliban took power.

However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
between mid-August 2021 and mid-June 2022, UNAMA recorded 2,106 civilian casualties. This is despite a general, significant decline in armed violence.

forces of Evil in a joint offensive in the region, a local official said.

A military official who led the security operation near Tosweyne village in Bardale district told the Somali News Agency that several gunnies who have been terrorizing the locals escaped with serious injuries.

"The forces of Evil have harassed and displaced several people in the villages. This operation was meant to flush them out of Bardale district," Aidarus Abdullahi Sheikh, a commander who led the operation, told the news agency.

The latest operation came a day after two people including a state minister were killed and several others maimed in a blast in Baidoa, in southwestern Somalia. South-West State Minister of Justice Hassan Ibrahim Hassan (Lugbur) and his son were killed by an bomb near his home after leaving the mosque in Baidoa Friday.

Al-Shabaab still controls some parts of rural southern and central Somalia and continues to carry out high-profile attacks in Mogadishu and elsewhere. Allied forces have intensified military operations in territory formerly controlled by the krazed killer group. al-Shabaab was driven out of Mogadishu in 2011.

The execution that was conducted publicly took place in the vicinity of Buula-Fulay in Somalia’s Bay region late Saturday.

Six of the executed men were accused of spying for the Somali government and the U.S.

Three of them were also accused of providing intelligence that led to the killing of senior al-Shabaab leaders, Yusuf Jiis and Abdulkadir Commandos, who were targeted in U.S. Arclight airstrike

Æthiopia’s Somali state president Mustafe Omar said that the region’s special forces operations against al-Shabaab holy warriors inflicted the group heavy casualties.

He said they believe that the troops killed 600 al-Shabaab fighters during their operations against the bully boy group who a week ago infiltrated Æthiopia, sparking new confrontations near the Æthiopian border with Somalia.

Ethiopian forces face new front from Al-Shabaab in Somalia
[Garowe] The Æthiopia National Defense Forces [ENDF] have reportedly killed senior al-Shabaab
...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
commanders just near the border with Somalia, in the latest crackdown which comes moments after the snuffies crossed over to the Horn of Africa nation.

In a statement, the Æthiopian authorities said the army killed three al-Shabaab big shots in South Eastern part of the country, during an offensive which was waged against the snuffies have tried to cross over to the Æthiopian side of the border.

The Æthiopian forces and troops from the Somali region killed Fu'ad Mohammed alias Sonqole and two other leaders who have been on the US radar for a long time. Earlier this week, it was reported that Sanqole was around Aato town where he was radicalizing locals.

Also reportedly killed in the crackdown by Æthiopian troops were Abdulaziz Abu Musa [Al-Shabaab front man], and Ubeda Nur Isse who is said to be head of al-Shabaab forces along the Æthiopian border. The snuffies had tried to attack people at Aato town on Friday morning.

Records in the State Department indicate that Sanqole had a $5 million bounty on his head with the US accusing him of recruiting al-Shabaab bully boys. The holy man is said to be having Swedish citizenship and has been successfully avoiding arrest.

Major General Tesfaye Ayalew, Head of the deployment in the Æthiopian Defense Force and coordinator of the Security Command Post, has confirmed to Æthiopian State media, Æthiopian News Agency, that the three al-Shabaab leaders are killed near the Æthiopian border.

Last week, al-Shabaab snuffies suffered multiple losses at Aato and Yeed towns along the border of Somalia and Æthiopia. Further reports indicate that al-Shabaab was killed in numbers within Æthiopia, with authorities estimating the number at over 100 bully boys.

It is unclear if there were casualties from the Æthiopian forces. The report on the death of Sanqole could not be independently verified by Garowe Online but there were confrontations along the border, with the latest shootout reported on Saturday morning.

Mustafa Mohammed, president of the Somali regional State of Æthiopia, on Thursday, warned that al-Shabaab might attempt to launch a new attack despite devastating defeat in the same week. al-Shabaab controls huge swathes of rural central and southern Somalia.
Ethiopian forces reportedly killed three key Al-Shabab leaders in the latest operation in the South Eastern Part of the country bordering Somalia region.

A joint Ethiopian Defense Force and Somali region special forces operation in Aato area, where Al-Shabab opened attack on Friday, after its fighters were wiped out in the in two villages earlier in the week, eliminated Fu’ad Mohamed (also known as Sanqole), who is said to be chief of coordination of Al-Shabab, AbdulAziz Abu Musa (Al-Shabaab spokesman), and Ubeda Nur Isse who is said to be head of Al-Shabaab forces along the Ethiopian border.

At least 16 killed in attacks in NE Mali
[Al Ahram] At least 16 people were killed in two-midweek attacks in northeastern Mali by suspected jihadists on encampments of nomadic rustics, local sources told AFP on Sunday.

"The killings took place in the evening between Wednesday and Thursday with the same modus operandi: assailants on cycle of violences who came into the camp, shot at people indiscriminately from close range, then take away their livestock," said a source close to the authorities in Menaka, the region near the Niger border where the attacks happened.

The first attack targeted a nomadic camp about 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the region's capital, also called Menaka. Twelve people were killed

In the other attack "gunnies" targeted another camp at Inekar Tadriante, killing five, the source added.

Leaders of the Tuareg nomadic community posted on social networks in recent days of "massacres of civilians" by the Islamic State

They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They put the overall corpse count from the two attacks at 16.

The region has become increasingly violent mostly peaceful and unstable since Tuareg separatist rebels rose up against the government in 2012.

Jihadist fighters took advantage of their rebellion to launch their own offensive, threatening the capital Bamako in the south until a French-led force pushed them back in 2013.

The Tuareg separatists and the government agreed to a peace accord in 2015, but it has yet to be applied.

So now Mali's weak, national government faces both separatist and jihadist insurgencies in the north of the country -- a largely desert region that is all but devoid of state infrastructure.

said the so-called three-border region with Niger and Burkina Faso had seen a "significant deterioration" in security.

NDLEA intercepts London, Dubai-bound drugs at Lagos seaport
[PUNCHNG] Personnel of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted no fewer than 2,750,000 tablets of Tramadol 225mg weighing 1,650 kilograms worth N1,375,000,000 at the Apapa seaport in Lagos.

The PUNCH gathered that the consignment, packed in 55 cartons of Tapentadol and Carisoprodol types of Tramadol, was seized during the examination of a container, numbered: SUDU 7538656 on Saturday, July 30, following credible intelligence.

This comes on the heels of similar efforts by anti-narcotic officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja that thwarted bids by narcos to export various psychoactive substances to London — the United Kingdom, Dubai, and the United Arab Emirates through the Lagos airport in the past week, leading to the arrest of at least five suspects in connection to the attempts so far.

A statement by the anti-narcotics agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, read, "On Monday, July 25, a Dubai, UAE-bound passenger one Ms Ebhodaghei Osenemeshen was intercepted during the outward clearance of travellers on Rwanda Air via Kigali to Dubai. Discovered in her luggage were sachets of Tramadol 225mg concealed inside gari, a cassava product packed among other foodstuffs.

"She, however, claimed that the bag was given to her by someone who she passed the night in his house before coming to the airport to help deliver it to another person in Dubai. The following day, Tuesday, July 26, a total of 50 blocks of cannabis Sativa with a total weight of 27.1kg concealed inside a large quantity of crayfish going to London, UK as part of a consolidated cargo were seized at the SAHCO export shed.

"The same day, a Dubai-bound female passenger, Rachel Emebradu, was arrested with 1.8kg cannabis packed inside bitter leaf in her luggage while attempting to board a Rwanda Air flight to UAE via Kigali. The mother of one who hails from Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State said she was into selling men’s wear before she decided to travel to Dubai to expand her clothing business. She claimed her ex-boyfriend that lives in Dubai, requested her to bring the bag containing the illicit substance along with foodstuff."

In the same vein, personnel at the NAHCO import shed of the airport on Saturday, July 30, evacuated cartons of khat leaf with a total weight of 51.50kg. The consignment had earlier come in from Sierra Leone on a Royal Air Moroc flight.

SDF says dozens arrested for ‘espionage’ activities
[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Sunday said it launched a covert operation against alleged spies and infiltrators claiming they work for The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
, arresting dozens in the process.

The operation, dubbed Oath, was conducted by the SDF in several areas under its control, including parts of the provinces of Hasaka, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Aleppo, and "resulted in arresting 36 persons involved in espionage activities," the US-backed force reported.

"The Ottoman Turkish occupying state and its intelligence work extensively to create spy networks and agents and allocated a large budget," the SDF said, calling the alleged Ottoman Turkish recruitment of spies and agents within SDF-held territories a method of "undermining the trust of our people and arousing suspicion and skepticism."

The operation coincides with growing concern over a fresh Ottoman Turkish operation in northern Syria, with Ankara targeting key leaders of the SDF and launching a spate of drone attacks on Manbij and Tal Rifaat — areas it seeks to seize control of.

The SDF claimed that the spy and agents network have inflicted casualties in the force’s ranks, severely damaging the region.

Last week, the SDF confirmed the death of one of its commanders and two other fighters who were killed by a Ottoman Turkish drone a day prior. General Commander Mazloum Abdi vowed Dire Revenge for their deaths while US Central Command offered condolences to their families.

Al-Sadr praises the ''liberation'' of the Green Zone
[SHAFAQ] The leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
...hereditary Iraqi holy man and leader of a political movement in Iraq. He had his hereditary rival al-Khoei assassinated shortly after the holy rival's appearance out of exile in 2003. Formerly an Iranian catspaw, lately he's gagged over some of their more outlandish antics, then went back to catspawry...
, on Sunday announced the "liberation" of the Green Zone, calling on his followers to push for a complete overhaul of the political system, including a new constitution, and expel the country's elites whom he condemned as corrupt.

"The peaceful spontaneous revolution that liberated the Green Zone is a golden opportunity to all the people who beared the brunt of injustice, terrorism, corruption, invasion, and dependence," the firebrand
...firebrands are noted more for audio volume and the quantity of spittle generated than for any actual logic in their arguments...
Shiite holy man tweeted.

Al-Sadr said that a "first golden opportunity" was missed back in 2016, deeming the recent developments a "great opportunity for a radical change in the political system, constitution, and election."

Addressing the people of Iraq, the populist leader called for disarming the militias, tightening the grip of law, and prosecutes the militias and corrupt people.

"You are responsible, you are all at stake," he concluded, "either an Iraq that stands high among the nations or a dependent Iraq that is controlled by proxies and corrupt people, and hands from the east and the west."

World and regional powers have expressed their concerns over the political escalation in Iraq after the seizure of the parliament building by the mercurial holy man supporters, pushing a months-long struggle to form the next government into uncharted territory.

The brinkmanship has rattled his political opponents, some of whom command well-armed militia groups linked to Iran. This has led to fears of renewed civil war, since al-Sadr also commands large numbers of armed supporters.

For the second time in less than a week, al-Sadr flexed his muscles, ordering thousands of his followers back to the heavily fortified government complex on Saturday. Despite security forces using tear gas and water cannons, the crowds tore down concrete blast walls protecting the site.

Once inside the sprawling complex known as the Green Zone -home to key government buildings including the cabinet office, parliament, foreign embassies and residences of senior politicians- they announced an open-ended sit-in.

At least 125 people —100 protesters and 25 security personnel, were maimed, according to the Health Ministry.

Al-Sadr, who is conveying his messages and instructions to the protesters through aides on social media, has not yet declared his demands clearly or responded to calls for dialogue.

Emerging as a clear winner in October's national election with 73 seats in the 329-seat parliament, al-Anbar's Sadr sought to form a majority government with Sunni and Kurdish allies, sidelining his Iran-backed rivals, the Coordination Framework.

But the CF — an umbrella group that consists of influential Tehran-allied militias and political parties — with some smaller parties not directly aligned to Tehran derailed al-Sadr’s efforts through different means.

A series of legal challenges and parliament session boycotts to block candidates put forward by al-Sadr's allies for the role of president, a vital step in government formation, combined with alleged intimidation tactics, forced him to order his MPs to resign last month.

That has given the CF the lead to form the government. In the past week, al-Sadr voiced a series of angry objections when the CF nominated Shiite politician Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani for the role of prime minister.

He has called al-Sudani a "shadow" of his rival, former prime minister Nouri Al Maliki, one of the senior CF leaders. The years-long antagonism between the two men has been one of the reasons behind the delay in forming a new government, more than 10 months since national elections were held.

As the CF pushed to hold a parliament session on Thursday to choose a new president — who in turn has to task the largest political bloc to nominate a prime minister, al-Sadr's followers briefly occupied parliament. al-Sadr said the move was a "warning".

As the parliament planned to hold a session on Saturday, the Sadrists once again entered, prompting the parliament speaker to suspend all sessions until further notice.

The quickly unfolding events have raised the stakes and deepened the struggle for influence between al-Sadr and his Iran-backed rivals.

Palestinian Authority raises salary for terrorists who killed 9 at Hebrew U
[JP] The Palestinian Authority increased its monthly payments to the terrorists responsible for the deadly attack at Hebrew University in 2002, Palestinian Media Watch found.

The 14.29% raise in the salaries of four terrorists coincided with the 20th anniversary of the bombing, which took place on Sunday.

How much are they getting?

Over the past 20 years, the PA paid Wael Qassem, Wassim Abbasi, Alla Aldin Abbasi and Muhammed Odeh over NIS 8 million (over $2.5 million). Their monthly payments are set to increase from NIS 7,000 ($2,251) per month to NIS 8,000 ($2,572); they also receive a supplement of NIS 300 shekels ($96) each month because they were residents of Jerusalem.

Four other terrorists convicted for taking part in the attack receive a salary from the PA, as well.

PA said to raise salaries of Palestinians accused of 2002 Hebrew University bombing
[IsraelTimes] Four Paleostinian turbans charged with bombing the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in July 2002 will have their monthly Paleostinian Authority stipend raised, according to a watchdog.

Paleostinian Media Watch (PMW), an Israel-based watchdog that monitors Paleostinian outlets for anti-Israel and antisemitic rhetoric, says Wael Qassem, Wassim Abbasi, Alla Aldin Abbasi, and Muhammed Odeh will each be given a raise of 14.29 percent, from NIS 7,000 ($2,251) to NIS 8,000 ($2,572).

To date, the PA has paid the four a sum of NIS 1,034,500 ($332,637), PMW says, citing official PA documents.
