ISIS IED expert, 12 less distinguished turbans killed in Nangarhar province
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] An expert of the Improvised Explosive Devices and at least twelve ISIS Khurasan militants were killed in separate incidents in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.

The provincial government media office in a statement said a militant was killed while he was developing an improvised explosive device in his house in Ghani Khel district.

The statement further added that the IED expert was killed instantly after the explosives went off during the making of the improvised explosive device.
The Rantburg Department of Reportorial Accuracy adds that he wasn't all that much of an expert.
The provincial government also added that the US forces conducted airstrike in Awghaz area of Haska Mina district, leaving at least seven ISIS Khurasan militants dead.

In separate airstrikes conducted in Nazian and Achin districts, at least 5 ISIS Khursan militants were killed, the provincial government added.

The statement also added that the local residents and security personnel have not suffered casualties during the operations.

Gunmen storm Jalalabad medical building
[Al Jazeera] Security forces have battled for hours a group of button men who stormed a medical training centre in eastern Afghanistan, in an attack that killed at least two people and maimed eight others, including five civilians, according to officials.

A series of kabooms went off late on Saturday morning in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar

province, before the attackers rushed the school for trainee midwives. Afghan special forces arrived to confront them and heavy gunfire ensued.

After a battle lasting for about six hours, sending clouds of black smoke spiralling into the sky, all the attackers were dead, according to a statement by Attaullah Khogyani, the provincial government front man.

One of the attackers died early in the operation after detonating a suicide bomb, but a second held out for several hours before being killed by security forces, said Khogyani.

He put the corpse count at three - two security guards and a driver - while Ghulam Sanyee Stanikzai, Nangarhar police chief, told AFP news agency that two people - a guard and a driver - were killed.

Eight people - five civilians and three coppers - were also maimed.

Egypt: Decapitating terror
[AlAhram] Army operations in Sinai successfully target leaders of IS terrorist group

What appears clear is that Gaza constantly exports threats to Egypt while Egypt is searching for solutions to Gaza's humanitarian and political crises.
Egyptian security sources have confirmed the death of the Sinai Province commander Mohammed Abdel-Latif Abu Jazr, aka Abu Jafar al-Maqdisi, during a raid launched by the military in Sheikh Zuweid. The army had not issued an official statement on the raid by the time al-Ahram Weekly went to print.

A Paleostinian source appeared to confirm the news: "Mohammed Abu Jazr was a member of Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,’ Ezzeddin Qassam brigades before he joined a group run by Abdel-Latif Moussa which opposes Hamas and is closer to the jihadist Salafist trend.

Arabia
Did the Houthis sink a warship or hit an oil tanker?
[AsiaTimes] Mystery surrounds alleged rebel attack on Saudi ship in critical Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Saudi Arabia has suspended its oil tanker transits through the Red Sea after one of them reportedly was hit by Houthi fire. According to some reports the damaged tanker, which did not leak oil, was being taken to a nearby Saudi port for repairs. Kuwait is also likely to suspend oil-tanker transits through the Bab el-Mandeb strait.

The Houthis are fighting Saudi-led coalition forces for control of the strategic Red Sea port city of Hodeida. Hodeida, which is near the Bab-el-Mandeb, is a strategic city for Yemen. More than 70% of its imported supplies, including famine relief and medical aid, flow through the port. For the Saudis and their allies, controlling the port is important in order to stop the Yemeni rebels from affecting the movement of tankers as they carry Persian Gulf oil though the Red Sea and the Suez Canal over to Europe and United States’ east-coast refineries. The Bab-el-Mandeb strait is only 29 kilometers wide.

The Houthis say that the Saudi claim that oil tankers were attacked is a deliberate provocation and while they did launch an attack it was against Saudi warships off the coast of Hodeida. Houthi leaders claim their forces sank a Saudi warship, identified as a French-built Lafayette-class frigate called Al-Damman.

The Houthis are sensitive that any attack on an oil tanker would be a provocation that would undermine Iran as much as Saudi Arabia, and Iran is their principal sponsor, providing most of their military arms. The conflict between Yemen and the Saudi-led coalition (which basically means Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates) in its essence is a fight over whether Yemen will be controlled by Sunni or Shiite forces.

Lafayette-class frigates operate with different naval forces including those of France, Singapore and Taiwan.

Al-Damman (Hull 816) is one of three modern, heavily armed frigates operated by the Royal Saudi Navy. The other two are named Al-Riyadh (Hull 812) and Al-Makkah (Hull 814). All three of these frigates (Al-Dammam was delivered in 2004) have stealth characteristics including low-power diesel engines and a special heat-dissipation system. The ships’ engines sit on sound-absorbing mounts, and the ship itself is partially demagnetized to protect it from magnetic mines.

In the narrow Bab el-Mandeb, the stealth features might prove less useful, since the ships would be visible from the shore and could be targeted with line-of-sight weapons. Alternatively, Al-Damman could have been hit by Houthi drones carrying high explosives. Whether a single drone, or for that matter a single missile, would be able to destroy the Damman is an open question.

#1  Tangential to the subject, but quite interesting paragraphs from the article in light of the concern in Israel about explosive drones coming out of Gaza:

The Houthis also have drones, including a suicide drone, the Qasef-1 (Striker), which the Houthis claim to manufacture. The Qasef-1 carries 30 kilograms of high explosives and is a version of the Iranian Abibil-3 drone. Most analysts say that the Qasef-1 is manufactured in Iran and is stuffed with the same equipment as the known Iranian versions.

The Iranians have used the Abibil-3 (Swallow) in Iraq, Sudan, Syria and Lebanon, and have supplied them to Hezbollah and to Hamas in Gaza. The drone itself is a hodgepodge of parts, some of them American, some Asian. The engine is a two-cylinder DLE-222 made in China but widely available worldwide, even from eBay (price US$1,649.99 with free shipping).

UAE-backed forces falter in latest large-scale offensive in central Yemen
[ALMASDARNEWS] On Thursday, the UAE-backed Southern Resistance Army and their allies from the Yemeni Elite Republican Guard launched a large-scale offensive in the central Yemen

province of al-Bayda.

Backed by heavy Arclight airstrikes from the Arab Coalition, the Southern Resistance Army stormed the Houthi-held al-Malajeem area, resulting in a fierce battle that is still ongoing at the moment.

The Southern Resistance Army would then strike the Qanuwa front in a bid to weaken the Houthi

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
the offensive by the UAE-backed forces would ultimately end in failure after 48 hours of intense fighting with the Houthi fighters in this central Yemen province.

According to pro-Houthi media, their forces managed to repel the advance by the UAE-backed troops, while also inflicting heavy casualties in the ranks of the Southern Resistance Army and their allies.

The Houthi forces were reportedly able to secure the Qunuwa and Malajeem areas after the UAE-backed troops retreated from these fronts.

Yemeni army advances in al-Jawf as Houthis suffer significant losses

militias suffered significant human and material losses, Al Arabiya English reports.

Staff Officer Maj. Gen. Col. Hazm Kharssan has asserted that the army managed to liberate areas where the Houthi militias were centered from Dahra to al-Qaeif in the Bart Anan Directorate, including al-Nabeia, al-Ashash and Rah.

Col. Kharssan said that the fighting that initially broke out at dawn on Saturday was still going amid steady progress of the armed forces with a large collapse within the Houthi militias’ ranks.

On the other hand, a Yemeni military source said on Saturday that there has been continuous advances from the military reinforcements on the Western coast, on land and sea, to the fighting locations in the southern coastline of Hodeidah.

The source confirmed the resumption of the operations focused on liberating Hodeidah and its ports from the Houthi militias.

The source added that the Houthi militias have been stubborn to withdraw from Hodeidah and have escalated their attacks on international ships, which has forced the army and the coalition to resume their military operations to liberate the strategic port city.

#1  The Houthis are gonna lose. And when that port falls....they are gonna be hungry and a little short on ammo too.

Plus, Arabs are not well known for the flow of Mercy, despite what they say about Allah and Islam. And it can be a hot day in Yemen, but then in that climate, its hot every day.

Britain
UK terrorist jailed over murder plot on Prince George stabbed in jail
[PRESSTV] British authorities have revealed that a man who had called for the liquidation of Prince George has been stabbed in prison, without any information available on who stabbed him and what the motives were.

The Daily Star said Saturday that Husnain Rashid, who had been locked away
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
earlier this month for offering advices to supporters on how to kill the young member of the British royal family, was found in his cell in Manchester’s Strangeways jail while having his face slashed with a makeshift knife.

Rashid’s body was discovered in the early hours of Wednesday with a huge gash from his right ear while blood was everywhere around the cell.

He was stabbed with a toothbrush that had a blade attached to it, authorities said, without elaborating how the attack happened and who was behind it.

A source in the prison claimed Rashid was disliked by other inmates, saying that everyone wanted to kill him due to his threats on the five-year-old Prince George.

"We don’t tolerate that kind of thing in Strangeways," said the source, adding, "Nobody likes him or what he did, like threatening that young royal lad..."

the Security Media Center said on Saturday.

In a statement, Brig. Gen. Yahia Rasool, spokesperson for the center, said, "Federal Police managed to kill two Islamic State members after besieging them during confrontations that occurred following operation in Shalaka and al-Deb villages in Riyad town in Kirkuk."

On Thursday, three Islamic State members were tossed in the clink

Earlier this month, troops of the Counter-Terrorism Service managed, during an operation, to arrest on Thursday a cell composed of 13 hard boyz who had sneaked into Kirkuk. On Wednesday, three members of Islamic State, including a senior intelligence official, were arrested during a security campaign in southwest of Kirkuk. Up to 14 Islamic State members were killed on Tuesday in a series of Arclight airstrikes on northwest of Kirkuk province by the U.S.-led international coalition warplanes.

The group still has dormant cells, through which it carries out attacks, across Iraq like it used to do before 2014.

Border Police caught two Paleostinian teens Saturday afternoon that had managed to sneak several hundred feet into Israel from the West Bank with a pair of home-made machine guns.

The Israeli troops had been carrying out a routine foot-patrol of the "Seam Zone" east of the Green Line and west of the security barrier when they noticed two suspects that had managed to cross into Israeli territory near the Oranit settlement.

They chased down the suspects, who tried unsuccessfully to flee. One of them was carrying a backpack, which the Border Police officers opened after apprehending the pair to find two Carlo-style submachine guns along with bullet magazines.

The suspects, 17 and 18-year-old Paleostinians from Nablus, were transferred for questioning.

Maute militant killed in Lanao firefight
[Sun Star] Philippine troops have killed a Maute militant and recovered high-powered weapons after a gun battle in Masiu, Lanao del Sur, the military said Thursday. Military spokesman Roseller Murillo identified the slain Maute militant as Zainal Candidato.

No one troops were either killed or wounded in the clash.

Murillo said the firefight broke out when the troops raided the lair of Panarigan Tama Baoraki alias Golden Boy and Hadji Rasul Amimbering in Masiu. He said that the two are leaders of an armed group with ties to the Maute group operating in Lanao del Sur.

Baoraki and Amimbering and their followers fled to different directions following a 10-minute firefight, he added.

Duterte invites the Abu Sayyaf to peace talks
[Xinhua] Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has invited the Abu Sayyaf to have a dialogue with his administration, saying it is about time to stop war. In a speech in Jolo in Sulu province late on Friday, Duterte said that peace will soon reign in Mindanao with the signing of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).

Duterte said to the Abu Sayyaf, "Let's talk. What do you want to do? Do you want us to just kill each other? You can kill me anywhere. But what will you gain by that? Let's just give it time. Let's stop making war."

Duterte went to Jolo to check on the condition of some 30,000 residents who were left homeless after a fire broke out on Tuesday in one of the villages there.

The BOL that Duterte signed on Friday aims to abolish the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and provide for the basic structure of government for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, following the agreements set forth in the Comprehensive Agreement of the Bangsamoro peace agreement signed between the government and the 11,000-strong Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in 2014.

The new Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao will have greater fiscal autonomy, a regional government, parliament, and justice system.

Iranian Kurds jailed, fined, lashed for backing independence referendum
[Rudaw] Kurdish activists in Iran have been handed harsh sentences for supporting the Kurdistan Region’s 2017 independence referendum, according to Hengaw human rights

news agency.

The family of Ramin Kardani, a Kurdish activist from Saqqez, said he has been sentenced to four years in prison for organizing rallies in support of the 2017 independence referendum and for producing propaganda against the Iranian regime on social media, according to Hengaw, an independent human rights organization based in Erbil.

Kardani was placed in durance vile
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
last year, but freed after 15 days. However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
he was later sentenced to four years. Kardani appealed the sentence, but was unsuccessful.

Iranian officials and state media denounced the Kurdistan Region’s independence referendum of September 25, branding it a threat to regional stability. This didn’t stop thousands of Iranian Kurds in various cities of Iranian Kurdistan taking to the streets in solidarity ahead of referendum day.

Last week, journalist Bakhtiar Khoshnaw was sentenced to 74 lashes and fined 1,800,000 toman ($409) for undermining public order by organizing gatherings in support of the referendum and for sending reports to foreign media outlets, Hengaw reports.

In response to the referendum, in which 93 percent voted for separation from Iraq, the Iranian government applied maximum pressure on the Kurdistan Region to void the result ‐ closing border crossings and suspending flights to Erbil and Sulaimani airports.

Iran has a large Kurdish minority of around eight to ten million. Tehran is concerned that any move towards Kurdish independence in neighboring states will provoke nationalism among Iranian Kurds, who have long struggled for their own political rights.

’s (ISIS/ISIS/ISIS) reign in southwest Syria is nearing its end, as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) closes in on the terrorist group’s last positions in the Daraa Governorate.

Backed by heavy Arclight airstrikes and artillery strikes, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) resumed their operations in the Yarmouk Basin region this afternoon, targeting several towns that were still under the occupation of the ISIS-affiliated Jaish Khaled bin Yarmouk forces.

According to a military source in Daraa, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate the towns of Nafia’a , Abu Rafah, and Shajarah after a short battle with the Jaish Khaled bin Walid terrorists.

The Syrian Arab Army is now working to clear the mines and IEDs that were left behind by the Jaish Khaled bin Walid forces of Evil before they withdrew south towards the mountains near the borders of the occupied Golan Heights and Jordan.

As a result of this advance by the Syrian Arab Army, the Jaish Khaled bin Walid forces of Evil are now in control of 1 percent of the Daraa Governorate.

The Syrian Arab Army should be able to take control of this last 1 percent that is under the Islamic State’s control in the coming days, as the latter has virtually nowhere to go and very little provisions to maintain a long fight against the government.

#1  ISIS will be back with a different name and different leaders but spout the same mainstream craziness of Islam. They are just a different family of Islam but they share the same ideals as Boko Haram and other Islamic groups.

Time to admit this is the true face of Islam and the "moderates" are in the minority.

#4  Syrian Arab Army? LOL

By doing so they risk precipitating open war between Israel and Syria... Or the locals will make sure Israel knows exactly where and who the outsiders are, so that weapons are pointed at the proper targets. That kind of thing is already happening in the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, where recently a gentleman was convicted of being ignored by the Israelis when he tried to become an informant.

#2  It has something to do with Moslem Values . Its their Culture and as we all know. you can't criticize "culture" or you are a racist.

Beside, Multiculturalism, is good, and all cultures are equal. We just simply MUST be more "tolerant" of Moslems. It's the ONLY way we can be "fair".

(ISIS) attack on her home in the al-Sweida Governorate.

The 72 year old woman successfully repelled Islamic State gunnies with her AK-47 after they attempted to enter her home in rural al-Sweida on Wednesday.

According to the woman, she resisted the Islamic State gunnies during a fierce shootout, killing two of the bully boyz before the Syrian military arrived on the scene.

The woman was badly maimed after she was shot in the stomach; however, she kept resisting the terrorists, as her four young grandchildren were also present in the house.

The grandchildren were between the ages of 7 months and 7 years old; they were saved from the ISIS gunnies that were kidnapping and murdering civilians in al-Sweida.

Syrian Army’s assault spreads to northern Hama after jihadist rebels attack NDF post
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and their allies from the National Defense Forces (NDF) have spread their assault to the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate, a military report claimed tonight.

According to the report, the Syrian Army and NDF launched a barrage of missiles and artillery shells towards the jihadist-held towns of al-Lataminah, al-’Alaywi, and Ma’ar Qasimah.

The Syrian Army and NDF then launched another round of missiles towards the Salafist tough guys of Jaish al-Izza at the al-Dahrouj Farms near the aforementioned towns.

This big attack by the Syrian Arab Army came shortly after the jihadist rebels attacked the National Defense Forces’ positions at the al-Zilaqiyat Checkpoint in northern Hama.

The Syrian Army and their allies are also heavily attacking the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

In particular, the Syrian Army is striking Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
’s positions around the key town of Khan Sheikhoun.

Syrians celebrate retaking town near Israel-occupied Golan
[DAWN] Syrian officials on Friday celebrated the recapture of this symbolic southern town near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, raising a flag and playing the national anthem to mark the victory over the gangs that controlled it for more than four years.

was hoisted on a partially destroyed monument in central Quneitra, where his father had raised the Syrian flag after Israel withdrew more than four decades ago.

Friday’s ceremony was attended by hundreds of flag-waving people from nearby villages, who sang the anthem, danced and cheered the Syrian army and affiliated militias.

Quneitra was abandoned after Israel destroyed it as it withdrew in 1974 following the Mideast war, although Israel continued to occupy the adjacent Golan Heights, seized in 1967. A ceasefire and a disengagement agreement have largely held along the demarcation lines for four decades.

During Syria’s civil war, gangs captured the town and large parts of southwestern Syria, forcing a UN peacekeeping force there to evacuate.
