Three explosions have hit a busy road in the Afghan capital city of Kabul, leaving at least one dead and three others injured.
The explosions happened near the Sikh-Hindu temple in the fourth police district of the capital on Saturday, according to reports.
"The explosions hit a busy road near a Sikh-Hindu temple (Gurdwara) in Police District today in Kabul," China’s Xinhua News reported citing eyewitnesses.
Rooters said the temple was the target of the attacks.
Afghanistan's interior ministry and witnesses said button men stormed the temple with at least one grenade.
"There were around 30 people inside the temple. We don't know how many of them are alive or how many dead. The Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... are not allowing us to go inside, we don't know what to do," Gornam Singh, a temple official, was quoted by Rooters as saying.
Meanwhile reports show the security guard at the temple was killed and three Taliban soldiers were maimed.
Singh, who said he was close to the scene, claimed the number of casualties could rise.
"Generally at that time in the morning we have several Sikh devotees who come to offer prayers at the gurdwara," he said.
He added that minutes after the first blast, a boom-mobile detonated in the area, but caused no casualties.
In the meantime, the security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures, an eyewitness told Xinhua.
"We heard a huge blast in Kart-e-Parwan neighborhood at around 6 am local time (GMT +4:30 hours). The blast was followed by another explosion which occurred about half an hour after the first blast. The whole place has now been sealed off," he said.
"Several warning shots were also fired by the security forces," he added.
The explosion sent a column of thick smoke into the sky and triggered panic, the witness added.
Tolo TV aired footage showing heavy grey fumes of smoke rising from the area.

A Somali couple has been convicted by a military court in the capital Mogadishu for terrorism activities under the Islamic State (IS) branch in Somalia.
Dayib Moalim Hassan and his wife Halima Abdi Mursal were on Thursday identified as having worked for the terrorist group or Daesh under the pseudo names of Mustaf and Hawa. They were sentenced to 15 years each.
They were arrested by the Somali security agents in March this year, with materials and apparatus for assembling explosive devices.
The court found that Mr Hassan was tasked with assembling the explosive devices while his wife Ms Mursal was in charge of the recruitment.
The prosecutors told the court that the couple used fake names, Mustafa and Hawa. The suspects had told the court that their jihadist superior had arranged their marriage under those names.
The lawyers defending the couple asked for clemency. The verdict, read by Judge Colonel Mohamed Abdi Mumin, condemned each to a 15-year jail term.

The fear of resurgent liquidations in al-Miqdadiyah district has revived the new-classic debate over the representation of the ethnic and religious components in the security bodies of the Diyala governorate.
Abu Murad al-Mahdawi, a 55-year-old citizen from al-Miqdadiyah, told Shafaq News Agency, "the liquidations in the heart of al-Miqdadiyah, despite the heavy security deployment, raise huge question marks and undermine the confidence of the citizens in the security forces."
"Certain groups are above the law. They have crossed all the lines with no significant security measures taken," he added, "even regular citizens who are not affiliated with a government or political parties fear the scourge of this phenomenon."
"Most of these liquidations are prompted by personal motives, sectarian background, or ties to terrorist groups," he continued, "the citizens shall play an intelligence role to put an end to this phenomenon. Specialized security bodies shall also be formed to handle such situations."
Political activist muppet Jaafar Maher al-Tamimi said that the liquidations in al-Miqdadiyah are more likely to be attributed to "retaliation or other social issues" rather than "political or partisan" accounts.
"Sectarianism left al-Miqdadiyah for good more than 12 years ago," he added, denying that any of the liquidations had sectarian motives.
Lawmaker Naheda al-Daini attributed the lack of "societal security" in al-Miqdadiyah to the "presence of gangs outside the authority of the state that executes political and partisan agendas."
Al-Daini called for setting "a security balance in Diyala" and "involving all the sects in the security file to restore the people's confidence in the security forces."

{JPost] The increase of Gazan entry permits into Israel has been suspended following the firing of a rocket into Israel, shattering a two-month lull.
The decision by Defense Minister Benny Gantz was made following a security evaluation Saturday evening.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories announced earlier this week that an additional 2,000 entry permits into Israel were going to be granted to Palestinian residents of the Gaza Strip for purposes of work and commerce.
"The suspension is in response to the firing of a rocket toward the State of Israel," COGAT said in a statement, adding that "the Hamas terror organization carries responsibility for all activities directed against Israel in and from the Gaza Strip, and it will bear the consequences."
Incoming rocket sirens were activated at 3.10 AM in the city of Ashkelon and neighboring communities. The rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.
The strikes, by aircraft and tanks, took place several hours after the rocket fire during the daylight hours and targeted a weapons manufacturing facility along with three outposts in the Strip, including one that overlooked Kibbutz Netiv Ha’asara on Gaza’s northern border, the military said in a statement.

Machine-gun fire was directed toward the kibbutz from Gaza later on Saturday, with at least one bullet entering a home and causing material damage.
Hamas members then returned to the observation post next to Netiv Ha’asara that had been damaged by the IDF and started to repair it. The strike had damaged the observation cabin but it did not destroy the structure holding it up.
The last time that rockets were fired from the Hamas-ruled enclave was on April 18 when one was fired toward the southern Israeli communities of Kissufim and Ein Hashlosha, which are located just across from the Palestinian city of Khan Yunis. Before that, the last rockets fired was on January 1 when two landed in the sea off the coast of Tel Aviv.

Inshallah maintenance... Or as an expat told me of trying and failing (!!) to get an aircraft mechanic (a local) to use a torque wrench set to the proper tension. He looked back from the exit and saw that the "mechanic" had put down the torque wrench and was back 'muscling' a garden variety socket wrench...
