"Mutiullah Abdulrahimzai, a Special Assistant to Acting Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar, was attacked by holy warriors around 10:30 PM on May 14, 2020 near his residence in the 8th District of Kabul. Doctors assure that his health condition is under control," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The statement further added "Mr. Atmar strongly condemns this cowardly act, and wishes a speedy recovery for Mr. Abdulrahimzai."
"Minister Atmar emphasized that such terrorist acts will not hinder his efforts in pursuit of national interest and peace in Afghanistan, and will further strengthen and renew his commitment to achieving this national objective," the foreign ministry said, adding that the security and law enforcement services are working to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
No individual or group has so far grabbed credit for the attack.

It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... on Saturday, as fighting between pro-government troops and separatist forces entered a sixth day in the southern province of Abyan ...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues... , according to sources on both sides.
Separatist forces of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) are resisting an offensive by pro-government troops launched on the outskirts of Zinjibar, some 60 kilometres (35 miles) from the main southern city of Aden.
"Fourteen fighters, including ten pro-government soldiers, were killed on Saturday," a government military official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
The toll was confirmed by a separatist military source, who also claimed the capture of "40 pro-government soldiers and the seizure of military equipment".
"They (pro-government soldiers) were unable to advance toward Zinjibar and they will only get there over our dead bodies," a separatist commander on the front line told AFP.
The offensive was being carried out by the military wing of the Islamist party al-Islah -- allied to the government -- according to several sources.
The fighting is the first major confrontation since the separatists declared self-rule in southern Yemen on 26 April, accusing the government of failing to carry out its duties and of "conspiring" against their cause.
At least ten fighters were killed and many were maimed on both sides in fighting on Monday.
The festivities complicate Yemen's war between the government -- backed by a Saudi-led military coalition -- and Iran-backed Iran's Houthi sock puppets ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. But the separatists in the south, which used to be an independent country, have agitated to break away again -- a campaign that was temporarily put to rest with a power-sharing deal signed in Riyadh last November.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd Al-Sha’abi) announced on Friday that they repelled an Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) attack near the Samarra Dam in the Salaheddine Governorate.
The PMF stated that “the 3rd Regiment of the 7th Brigade in the Popular Mobilization Forces thwarted the infiltration of an enemy boat carrying a group of members of the organization,” referring to “confronting the terrorists before they were forced to flee.”
They added that “the Popular Mobilization Forces searched the area during a subsequent operation and found a small boat belonging to ISIS in the area containing food supplies.”
The Iraqi Armed Forces have been confronting the Islamic State in several areas around Iraq, including the Salaheddine Governorate, which has been the scene of several clashes over the last few days.
ISIS has attempted to take advantage of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to wreak havoc in both Syria and Iraq.
Despite their best attempts, however, the Islamic State has been unable to gain ground in either country.

Yet a new shadowy Shiite insurgent faction has emerged today in Iraq--the "1920 Revolution Brigades"--and has released video footage of what it claims are recent IED attacks on U.S. military supply convoys south of Baghdad and in Al-Hillah.
The 1920 Revolution Brigades (Arabic كتائب ثورة العشرين Kitā'ib Thawrat al-ʿIshrīn) is a Sunni militia group in Iraq, which includes former members of the disbanded Iraqi army. The group has used improvised explosive devices, and armed attacks against U.S. occupation forces. The group comprises the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement. The group is named in reference to the 1920 Iraqi revolt against the British. In 2007 some members split off to form Hamas of Iraq.
[IsraelTimes] The Paleostinian Authority arrested three people in the Balata refugee camp planning to attack IDF troops or Israeli settlers in the northern West Bank, Channel 12 news reports.
According to the network, the three were arrested last week and caught with two Carlo Gustav-style submachine guns.
The report comes amid concerns in Israel that the PA’s virus-induced economic woes and Israeli plans to move forward with West Bank annexation could spark violence in the West Bank.

[Jpost] Seven Iranian-backed militants were killed after unidentified aircraft attacked a site belonging to Iranian forces and Iran-backed militias near Al-Bukamal in the Deir Ezzor area near the Syria-Iraq border on Saturday, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The strikes, which destroyed a structure inside the base, came just days after Iranian militias sent reinforcements to the site. The death toll is expected to rise as a number of people were also reported wounded.
Local media reported two large explosions in Aleppo early on Saturday morning, with some outlets claiming that an alleged Israeli airstrike had targeted Iranian sites in the city. Syrian state media later denied that the explosions had been caused by an airstrike. The SANA state news agency reported early Saturday morning that an explosion had been heard in Aleppo, without providing further details.
A correspondent for the Step News Agency reported that the explosions were believed to have been caused by a strike on Iranian sites in the city and that four bodies had been brought from the scene of the explosion to a hospital in Aleppo, but it was unknown whether the casualties belonged to the Syrian military or Iranian militias.
The reports indicated that the airstrikes targeted the Ramouse suburb near a military school. The opposition-affiliated Halab Today TV also reported on the alleged airstrikes, stressing that no official source provided information on the cause or location of the explosion.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Saturday that while the source of the explosion was unknown, unidentified aircraft were said to have been over the area when the explosion occurred. The SOHR also reported that the explosion occurred in the Ramouse area.
However, State media later denied reports of an attack targeting the Aleppo International Airport or the Artillery School in Ramouse, which is located southwest of Aleppo.
On Friday, Iranian militias began to withdraw from the area near the Aleppo International Airport and moved to Al-Safira, southeast of Aleppo, according to Halab Today. The militias were replaced by Russian forces. The militias included members of the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group, the Shi'ite Liwa Zainebiyoun militia and the Shi'ite Quwat Al-Ridha, and evacuated due to recent alleged Israeli airstrikes, according to the report.
Iranian-backed militias have been shuffled throughout Syria since a series of airstrikes targeted Iranian and Syrian targets in the country in recent weeks, according to local reports.
The Liwa Fatemiyoun and Brigade 313 militias were transferred out of the Deir Ezzor area of eastern Syria last week, according to local news source DeirEzzor24.
The formerly Iranian-backed and currently Russian-backed Palestinian Liwa al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigade) militia which was located in Aleppo entered the city of Al-Bukamal in the Deir Ezzor area, in order to take over the headquarters of Iranian militias in the city after a request by Russia, according to Halab Today.
Earlier this month, alleged Israeli airstrikes targeted a research center and a military base in Aleppo where Iranian militias are based, the fifth such strike in two weeks, according to Syrian media. During those strikes, sites in the Deir Ezzor area were also targeted.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that airstrikes that were likely carried out by Israel targeted the scientific research center in Aleppo where both Iranian militias and Syrian forces are based, destroying ammunition depots in the area.Western intelligence sources say Iranian-backed militias have long been entrenched in Aleppo province where they have bases and a command center and installed advanced weapons, part of a growing presence across government-controlled Syria.
Aleppo was targeted by alleged Israeli airstrikes last year in March as well.
Shortly after the strikes in Aleppo, additional airstrikes by unidentified aircraft were carried out in Al-Mayadeen in the Deir Ezzor area located near the Syria-Iraq border. Fourteen Iranians and Iran-backed militants were killed in the alleged Israeli airstrikes in Deir Ezzor, according to SOHR.
A regional intelligence source said Israel was stepping up raids in Syria at a time when world attention and the region, including Syria, were distracted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The young people were arrested for “communicating with SDF and facilitating the entry of booby-trapped motorcycles and cars into the area”. This development came after a car-bomb was found in western countryside of Ras Al-Ain.
