[ToloNews] Afghan forces have retaken main parts of Bala Murghab district in Badghis province, in the northwest of Afghanistan, almost after 10 days of heavy festivities against the Taliban ...Arabic for students... , which displaced thousands of families and left dozens of soldiers dead and maimed.
"Bala Murghab is cleared of Taliban ’terrorists’," the Ministry of Defense said in a tweet on Thursday evening. "Afghan National Defense and Security Forces broke the Taliban’s final resistance and are in full control in Bala Murghab."
Badghis Governor Abdul Ghafoor Malikzai confirmed that the special units of the Afghan Army and Police have entered Bala Murghab and that bully boyz have been pushed back.
He said that the Taliban could not resist against Afghan cops and that they "were forced to evacuate the district".
The Taliban entered key parts of the district a week ago, including the police headquarters, which is close to the Army camp, where hundreds of forces are stationed. But they were pushed back after Arclight airstrikes conducted by Afghan forces in support of coalition troops.
Bala Murghab is surrounded by some other volatile districts such as Ab Kamari, Muqur, Jawand and Qadis.
Last time, Bala Murghab came under Taliban attack early in March and was under siege for more than two weeks, leaving more than two dozens of security forces dead and almost 28 of them gone missing.
This comes as the conflicts have intensified in different parts of the country with the arrival of the spring season ‐ which is deemed as a usual fighting season for gunnies fighting the Afghan government forces.
According to the Ministry of Defense, at least 100 Talibs have been killed in the festivities.

[DAWN] Police's Counter-terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday said it has jugged Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! a suspected bad boy linked with banned outfit Jundullah, which allegedly orchestrated major acts of terrorism, bank robberies, kidnappings and killings in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. [Rudaw] An Iraqi man who was in charge of transferring Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) members from Kirkuk to Diyala province near the Iranian border in recent months has been incarcerated Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un! , Kurdish security forces said on Thursday. This could be a major blow to the simmering insurgence that is brewing in the Sunni provinces in northern Iraq since the group’s territorial control of the area ended in late 2017.
"Over the past few days the Garmiyan Asayesh forces in Kalar managed to arrest an Arab suspect," Osman Abdulkarim, the spokesperson of the Garmiyan Asayesh announced in a presser. "The suspect confessed before the investigating judge that he had joined the ISIS terrorist organization in Kirkuk."
Abdulkarim added the ISIS member, 22, also confessed that "he was in charge of the transfer of ISISbandidosturbans from Kirkuk and Hawija to Palkana."
Palkana village is near Sargaran town west of Kirkuk. Since the declared defeat of ISIS, the village and surrounding areas have been a hotbed for the group’s lingering and still deadly remnants.
"He had been trying to move from Kalar to Sulaimani using fake ID to hide himself..." he explained.
The ISIS member, whose name was not revealed, is also said to have been a member of the group’s security department.
As part of the continued campaigns against ISIS remnants, last week the Garmiyan court handed down a five year prison sentence to four ISIS members from Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... Kifri, Tuz Khurmatu, and Kalar who had been arrested in raids carried out in mid-2018 after they had all confessed membership to the hard boy group.
"Our forces will continue to pursue those bandidosturbans who want hide themselves in these areas," added the official.
It was the seventh additional arrest of an ISIS member over the past two months in Garmiyan, Abdulkarim added.
Confessions, whether in earnest or coerced, are used frequently in courts across the Middle East as proof of one’s suspected guilt.
Rights groups have criticized Iraq for its prosecution of ISIS suspects. Human Rights Watch has reported judicial authorities are rushing trials and using coerced confessions.

(ISIS) remnants out of a mountain range in the north of the country on Thursday, destroying a media office of the bully boy group.
"...the sectors of the Counter-Terrorism forces, supported by Iraqi Army aviation and international coalition aviation, initiated a broad security operation to chase the remnant members of the terrorist ISIS in the hills of Hamrin to destroy the caves and their safe havens," read a statement by the Security Media Cell on Facebook.
The operation was green lit by Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi, the country's commander-in-chief, according to the media cell.
In the operation, "The headquarters of al-Naba newspaper ‐ affiliated with terrorist ISIS gangs ‐ was destroyed and a number of issues of the newspaper as well as printers, computers, and significant documents were found," the ICTS announced Thursday evening.
By controlling the Hamrin area ‐ some 160 kilometers north of Baghdad and 70 kilometers south of Kirkuk ‐ ISIS has continued to launch attacks into nearby towns.
ICTS confirmed on its Facebook page that two of its divisions were participating in the offensive "to destroy all the caves and safe havens..." Lt. Gen. Abdul Wahab al-Saadi, the commander of the ICTS, was said to be in charge of the operation that included two of his brigades. Through the ISIS conflict, the US-trained ICTS spearheaded liberations of cities and towns.
ISIS was declared defeated in Iraq in December 2017 by then PM Haider al-Abadi, but the group’s sleeper cells continue to pose a security threat in disputed or Kurdistani areas between Iraqi and Peshmerga forces.
Additionally, there have been reports of ISIS members fleeing from Syria into western Iraq’s Anbar province.
Hamrin, located between the frontlines of Iraqi and Peshmerga forces, has allowed elements to regroup. It is a disputed or Kurdistani area claimed by both Erbil and Baghdad. Locals have repeatedly told Rudaw that ISIS remains active in the area, stealing, kidnapping, and killing. The lack of security is a contributing factor for the continued displacement of some 1.2 million Iraqis.

[Aljazeera] Islamabad, Pakistan - At least 16 people have been killed and another 30 wounded as an explosion ripped through a market in the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta, police say, the latest attack to target the city's minority Hazara community.
The explosion took place as Hazaras, who are Shia Muslims, were buying vegetables early on Friday morning, Quetta police chief Abdul Razzaq Cheema told Al Jazeera by telephone.
"Members of the Hazara community go to the market every day to shop, and we provide them with a security escort," he said.
"They were at the market as police and [paramilitary] Frontier Corps soldiers patrolled the area. There was a store selling potatoes, and that is where the explosion has taken place."
Images from the scene of the explosion showed blood sprayed across the dirt floor of the market, damaged vehicles and sacks of potatoes split open by the force of the blast.
Cheema said police would not know whether the bomb was planted or a suicide attack until investigating teams, who had cordoned off the site, completed their analysis.
"The bomb appeared to have been set in the potato sacks, but we cannot rule out whether it was a suicide attack just yet," he said.
At least seven members of the Hazara community and one paramilitary soldier were among those killed, he said.

[ALMASDARNEWS] For the second time this month, a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) convoy has disappeared along the Palmyra-Deir Ezzor convoy.
According to a report from eastern Homs, the Syrian Arab Army’s command in Palmyra lost contact with the convoy after it departed from the aforementioned city to Deir Ezzor.
The Syrian Army sent a search party to find out what happened to the convoy; however, they were unable to find any trace of the vehicles or soldiers.
A military source told al-Masdar this afternoon that the Syrian Army’s high command believes the convoy was ambushed by the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. The Islamic State has been carrying out ambushes on Syrian military vehicles over the last two months; this has resulted in the death and capture of several soldiers.
In response to these ambushes, the Syrian Arab Army has sent reinforcements to this front; however, they have been unable to quell these late night ambushes by the Islamic State murderous Moslems that are believed to be hiding out in the caves of the Badiya al-Sham.
Since they lost their territories in central and eastern Syria, the Islamic State has switched its battle plan from attempting to capture ground to carrying out hit-and-run attacks against both the Syrian Army and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish Army carried out a powerful attack against the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the northern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate this evening.
Using heavy artillery, the Ottoman Turkish Army repeatedly struck the YPG’s positions near the town of Tal Rifa’at, prompting the latter to respond with their own barrage of projectiles on the former’s defenses.
This attack by the Ottoman Turkish Army comes just 48 hours after the Russian military withdrew their police forces from Tal Rifa’at and its surrounding villages in the northern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is still active in the Tal Rifa’at area and they have already warned the Ottoman Turkish Army about moving into the government-held parts of northern Aleppo.
In particular, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies in Nubl and al-Zahra’a have refused to withdraw from these towns despite warnings from the Ottoman Turkish military.
Nubl and al-Zahra’a were previously besieged by the jihadist rebels until the Syrian Arab Army and their allies launched an offensive in 2016 to lift this siege.

According to the spokesperson form the SDF, Mostafa Bali, the Islamic State commander is currently hiding among the Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels in the Idlib Governorate.
Furthermore, Bali claimed on his Twitter page that the ISIS oil minister has confessed to transferring nearly 40 tons of gold and a large number of valuable goods from Iraq to Syria.
Despite these claims, Iraqi sources claimed in February that al-Baghdadi was alive and hiding in Syria near the Iraqi border.
"Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is still alive and is in Syria," RT quoted an Iraqi intelligence source as saying on condition of anonymity.
There have been multiple claims made regarding the whereabouts of al-Baghdadi; however, it is still unclear where this terrorist leader is currently hiding out.
What is known from Syrian and Iraqi sources is that the Islamic State is still very active in both countries, despite the fact they do not control any significant piece of territory.
