Arghanj Khwa District Retaken By Security Forces
[ToloNews] Clearance operation of Arghanj Khwa district in Badakhshan ended Tuesday morning and it was retaken from the Talibs, the 209 Shaheen Military Corps said in a statement on Tuesday.

The district reportedly fell to the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
last week on Saturday but the Ministry of Interior Affairs’ front man Nusrat Rahimi said it was planned retreatment to prevent casualties.

According to the statement, at least 14 Talibs were killed and seven others were maimed in the operation.

The clearance operation was led by Army forces and after 24 hours of clash with the Taliban the district wad retaken from the Taliban, the statement added.

Last week, Badakhshan residents criticized government and the security forces for the fall of Arghanj Khwa district to the Taliban.

"The district has fallen to the Taliban due to the ’negligence’ of the central and provincial government," said a resident of Badakhshan.

Arghanj Khwa is located in the vicinity of Faizabad city, the bucolic provincial capital, and is a connecting point between the center of the province and 10 other districts.

Arghanj Khwa is the first district of Badakhshan fallen to the Taliban in 2019. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
in 2018, three districts of the province ‐ Kohistan
...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns....
, Warduj and Yumgan ‐ had fallen to the Taliban.
Khaama Press adds:
According to defense ministry, at least 14 Taliban militants including their shadow military commander were killed during the clearance operations.

“Early morning, the district center and all relevant villages have been completely cleared from the terrorist Taliban. Afghan National Defense and Security Forces are in control. 14 terrorists, including the shadow military commander Qari Halim, have been killed,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented in this regard so far.
Another Khaama Press article adds:
The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan has announced that the Afghan armed forces have carried out multiple surprise attacks against Taliban militants in Arghanj Khwa district in northeastern Badakhshan province.

“Today, Afghan National Defense and Security Forces conducted many surprise attacks and the Afghan Air Force carried multiple airstrikes on the Taliban positions in Arghanj Khwa district,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement late on Monday night.

Egypt's Minya court sentences policeman to death for killing two Copts outside church
[AlAhram] A Minya criminal court sentenced a policeman to death on Tuesday for killing two Christians while he was guarding a church in December last year.

Rabie Mostafa Khalifa, a police sergeant, was assigned to guard a Coptic church in Minya; he killed Emad Kamal and his son David in front of the church.

According to investigations, Khalifa had argued a day prior to the incident with the two men, who were working on a construction site in front of the church.

The murders stirred anger among Christians in the area.

The criminal court issued a preliminary death sentence in February and asked Dar El-Ifta for its opinion on the sentence, in accordance with Egyptian law on capital cases.

Dar El-Ifta upheld the court's sentence.

The verdict may still be appealed within 60 days.

Egypt’s anti-corruption authority arrests 22 people involved in illegal immigration
[AlAhram] Egypt’s Administrative Control Authority, the country’s anti-corruption watchdog, has said it jugged
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
22 people involved in facilitating illegal immigration by Egyptians to Europe.

The authority said in a statement on Monday that the defendants have aided people wishing to emigrate and children from the age of three to illegally travel to European countries using forged documents.

The authority released a three-and-half-minute footage showing the tracking of suspects while they were applying for visas as well as the arrests of a number of defendants from the airport or in possession of fabricated documents and false stamps.

The suspects - arrested from five govenorates including the capital Cairo - have been ordered detained pending investigations.

The authority has in recent months brought a series of corruption cases against senior government officials. Those charged include the former head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, the head of the state Food Industries Holding Company and a number of supply ministry officials.

Television and radio advertisements have been prompting Egyptians to report corruption incidents to the authority’s hotline as part of its anti-corruption campaign.

Egypt sentences dozens to prison on terror charges
[IsraelTimes] Egypt has sentenced more than 70 suspected members of the Moslem Brüderbund group to prison on terror-related charges.

The Ismailia criminal court sentences nine of the defendants to 15 years in prison and 43 others to 10 years. Another 22 were sentenced to three to seven years, and 14 were acquitted. Nearly half of the defendants were tried in absentia.

The defendants were accused of burning police vehicles and attacking a coffee shop. The violence came in response to the dispersal of two mass sit-ins in Cairo in 2013, in which security forces killed hundreds of Brotherhood supporters.

The Brotherhood won a series of free elections following Egypt’s 2011 uprising but was branded a terrorist group after the military overthrew an elected but divisive

Play stupid games...
[IsraelTimes] A Paleostinian man has succumbed to wounds sustained during riots and protests at the Israel-Gazoo border last Saturday, the enclave’s Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run health ministry said Tuesday.

Fares Hajres, 26, was reportedly shot in the stomach by Israeli troops in the border area near Khan Yunis, the ministry said.

Hajres is the fifth Gazook said to die from wounds sustained in festivities at the border over the weekend, amid Saturday afternoon rallies that drew some 40,000 Paleostinians to the border to mark a year since the weekly protests billed "March of Return" began.

Israeli drone fires at Gazans launching balloon-borne arson devices — report
[IsraelTimes] An Israeli drone fired twice at a group of Paleostinians launching balloon-borne incendiary devices into southern Israel from east of Gazoo City on Tuesday, according to Paleostinian media.

No injuries were reported in the alleged strikes.

The Israeli military refused to comment on the reports.

Outlets in the Gazoo Strip said the cell was targeted at approximately 3:30 p.m. as its members launched balloons carrying incendiary devices from east of the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gazoo City in an apparent effort to spark fires in southern Israel.

Less than an hour later, Paleostinian media reported that an Israeli drone had fired at the group a second time.

PA officials: Palestinian killed in West Bank clashes with IDF
[Ynet] Incident occurs when soldiers operating in Qalandia, north of Jerusalem, come under attack; army says 12 placed in durance vile

overnight for 'involvement in terror activity and violent disturbances.’

Paleostinian was killed and three other people were maimed during pre-dawn festivities with Israeli security forces in the West Bank, Paleostinian Authority officials said Tuesday morning.

The festivities occurred during an arrest raid in Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem. The IDF said that troops came under attack by Paleostinians after they entered the town.

The army said that Israeli forces operating in the area came under attack when "violent disruptions erupted, including stone and explosives being thrown at the forces." The troops responded with live fire, the army said, adding that "the incident will be investigated."

Ramallah medical center chief Ahmad Betawi said they had received the body of a 23-year-old Paleostinian shot by Israeli troops, as well as the three maimed Paleostinians taken there for treatment.

Paleostinian news agency Wafa named the dead man as Mohammad Ali Dar Adwan, and reported that he was rubbed out at close range by Israeli troops as he drove down a street in the camp.

Wafa also reported that three brothers from the same family were arrested in the camp during the raid.

The IDF said troops had arrested 12 Paleostinians wanted for "involvement in terror activity and violent disturbances."

The army also said that forces operating in the village of Beit Omar, south of Jerusalem, found and confiscated home-made illegal weapons.

US-backed Syrian forces clash with Islamic State fighters hiding in caves
[IsraelTimes] US-backed Syrian fighters say they are battling the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group in eastern Syria 10 days after declaring victory over the holy warriors.

Mustafa Bali, a front man for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, says the troops are rooting out groups of bandidos murderous Moslems who were hiding in caves in and near the village of Baghouz.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the US-led coalition is still conducting Arclight airstrikes against IS. It adds that senior IS commanders and prisoners held by the bully boyz are believed to be in the caves on the east bank of the Euphrates River.

The SDF declared military victory over IS on March 23 after liberating what it said was the last pocket of territory held by the bad boys.
An Nahar adds:
"The Syrian Democratic Forces continues to deny ISIS a physical space and influence in the area and work to deny them the resources they need to return," coalition front man Scott Rawlinson told AFP on Monday, using an Arabic acronym for IS.

"In support of back-clearance operations, the coalition continues to conduct precision strike support in coordination with SDF," he said.

The official said anti-IS operations are now focusing on "eroding" IS' "capacity to regenerate and collaborate."

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based war monitor, said that more than a dozen coalition air strikes have targeted IS hideouts in Baghouz since Sunday. Strikes hit caves and farmlands in the village where holdout jihadists are believed to be hiding, it said.

IS fighters also retain a presence in Syria's vast Badia desert and various other hideouts, and have continued to claim deadly attacks in SDF-held territory.

Last week, IS killed seven U.S.-backed fighters in an attack on a checkpoint in the northern city of Manbij, which is controlled by a local council linked to the SDF.

The Observatory on Tuesday said that nine suspected jihadists were captured in the former IS bastion of Raqa since Sunday.

Syrian Army unleashes powerful assault across southern Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unleashed a powerful assault across the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate last night, targeting several areas controlled by the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham

Led by their 4th Armored Division, the Syrian Arab Army repeatedly fired several artillery shells and surface-to-surface missiles towards Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham’s positions in the Khan Sheikhoun area of the Idlib Governorate.

The Syrian Arab Army’s attack on the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate came just hours after the jihadist rebels and their allies from Jaish al-Izza launched their own assault on the government-held areas of northern Hama.

Following the attack on southern Idlib, the Syrian Arab Army began targeting Jaish al-Izza’s positions near the towns of Kafr Zita and al-Latamnah in the northern countryside of Hama.

According to a military source in the Hama Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army managed to destroy a number of Jaish al-Izza hideouts, including some of their trenches that were dug around al-Latamnah axis.

The ground situation along the Hama-Idlib axis has recently deteriorated despite the increased presence of both Russian and Ottoman Turkish troops near the demilitarized zone.

The Russian and Ottoman Turkish armed forces have attempted to quell the violence in northern Hama and southern Idlib, but the tit-for-tat attacks between the Syrian Army and rebels continue.

Kurdish forces kill Turkish Army soldier in northwestern Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] A Ottoman Turkish Army soldier was killed on Sunday after the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) fired several artillery shells towards Afrin city.

According to reports from northwestern Aleppo, the YPG heavily shelled the Ottoman Turkish Army’s positions near Afrin city after the latter attacked the former’s military posts in the northern part of the province.

Following the attack on the Afrin region of Aleppo, the Ottoman Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the death of one of its soldiers as a result of the YPG’s shelling.

Dozens of ISIS fighters escape Baghouz to launch big assault on Syrian Army troops near Palmyra
[ALMASDARNEWS] A large number of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) fighters have escaped the Baghouz pocket in eastern Deir Ezzor and made their way to the Palmyra countryside, a military source near the ancient city told al-Masdar News last night.

According to the military source, the Islamic State fighters have now taken refuge in the desert region near the T-2 Pumping Station, which was previously under the control until the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched their offensive to capture Albukamal in southeast Deir Ezzor.

On Monday, the escaped ISIS fighters carried out another powerful attack against the Syrian Army troops near Palmyra, prompting the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) to get involved for the first time in several weeks.

The Islamic State was reportedly involved in a heated battle with the Syrian Army for a couple hours on Monday; it would end once the Syrian Air Force began to launch Arclight airstrikes on the terrorist combatants in the Palmyra countryside.

Many Islamic State fighters had previously attempted to evade capture in the Baghouz area of Deir Ezzor by crossing the Euphrates and fleeing into the vast Syrian Desert.

While several Islamic State fighters were eventually captured trying to cross the Euphrates, dozens of others were believed to have successfully crossed the river, including some high-ranking terrorist commanders.
