-Lurid Crime Tales-
WATCH: Drone Captures Migrants Carrying Drugs Across Border into Texas
[Breitbart] Drone video captured the images of a group of six migrants illegally crossing the border from Mexico into the Laredo Sector. Agents found them carrying large bundles of marijuana.

Laredo Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Carl E. Landrum tweeted a video from a Small Unmanned Aircraft System (SUAS) showing a group of six people crossing the border from Tamaulipas, Mexico, into Texas. When agents responded to the area, Landrum said they found 300 pounds of smuggled marijuana.

Operators of the SUAS coordinated with the agents to guide them directly to the location of the smuggling activity, Landrum noted.

Similarly, Del Rio Sector agents utilized technology in what Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens called a “force-multiplier” to apprehend 168 migrants illegally crossing the border near Eagle Pass, Texas.

The utilization of these types of technologies enables Border patrol agents to spend more time on actual border security incursions and less time patrolling wide-open spaces along the border.

“Technology gives our men & women an advantage, ensuring that we can apprehend them…day or night,” Chief Owens tweeted.

-War on Police-
SHOTS FIRED: Border Patrol Vehicle Struck as Agents Arrest Migrant
[Breitbart] Border Patrol agents attempting to arrest a migrant near Fronton, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley came under gunfire Saturday morning. As the agents attempted the arrest, several shots were fired at them from Mexico. The agents avoided injury during the incident that damaged their patrol vehicle.

The incident occurred at 8:45 a.m. on the banks of the Rio Grande near Fronton, according to a statement released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The gunfire erupted as Rio Grande Valley City Station Border Patrol agents attempted to arrest a migrant who had illegally crossed the border from Mexico. The agents were not struck by the gunfire but their vehicle sustained damage after being hit.

The agents involved in the incident did not return gunfire, officials stated. Few details regarding the shooting incident were available at press time. The incident is under investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

According to a source within CBP, the Fronton area is notorious for narcotics smuggling and is controlled by the Gulf Cartel (CDG). The source says the area has been the scene of numerous narcotics seizures attributed to the Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station that is responsible for patrolling the area.

Fronton, located approximately five miles east of Roma, Texas, has seen its share of border violence in the past. Border Patrol agents and other law enforcement officers have come under gunfire on several occasions. In August 2019, four gunmen in Mexico fired more than 50 rounds at a Border Patrol airboat patrolling the Rio Grande, Breitbart Texas reported. No agents were injured however the vessel was struck several times. According to the source, the gunmen were protecting a shipment of cocaine and an underwater pulley system used to shuttle the narcotics across the river.

In 2016, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and a Border Patrol agent were shot in the same area when a gunfight between police authorities and narcotics smugglers erupted. Both law enforcement officers survived their injuries.

Sudan's PM Hamdok steps down
[Al Ahram] Sudan Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok announced his resignation in a televised speech on Sunday. The country has been plunged into turmoil since military leader General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan de facto leader since the ouster of Bashir launched a military takeover on October 25 and detained Hamdok.

Hamdok was reinstated on November 21, but mass protests have continued as demonstrators distrust veteran general Burhan and his promises of seeking to guide the country toward full democracy.

"I have tried my best to stop the country from sliding towards disaster," he said, addressing the nation.

"In view of the fragmentation of the political forces and conflicts between the (military and civilian) components of the transition... despite everything that has been done to reach a consensus... it has not happened", he said.

Sudan "is crossing a dangerous turning point that threatens its whole survival", he added.

Activists have kept up a more than two-month-long campaign of street demonstrations against the army's takeover, despite a crackdown that has seen at least 53 people killed and hundreds injured in protest-related violence, according to the pro-democracy Doctors' Committee group.

Those rallies have been repeatedly broken up by security forces firing rounds of tear gas, as well as charges by police wielding batons and shooting bullets into the air.

Activists say 2022 will be "the year of the continuation of the resistance" in posts on social media.

They demand both justice for the dozens killed since the coup, as well the more than 250 killed during the mass protests that began in 2019 that paved the way for the toppling of Bashir.

Africa North
Mali parties reject army's five-year democratic transition
[Al Ahram] The army has dominated landlocked and conflict-wracked Mali since August 2020, carrying out two coups and postponing elections it had previously committed to hold next month.

Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop submitted the new plans to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Saturday, following a national reform conference boycotted by political parties and social organizations.

The plans are for a five-year prolongation of the transition period, starting from January 1.

The coalition, representing around 10 parties, said the timetable violates the transition charter, "has not been discussed in Mali and cannot in any way be the deep desire of the Malian people".

"Consequently, the group rejects this unilateral and unreasonable timetable," it added in a statement.

Coalition front man Sekou Niame Bathily told AFP the parties "dissassociate" themselves from the military government's plan and want "to proceed with quickly organising elections".

ECOWAS, which has threatened to impose sanctions on Mali's ruling junta for postponing the elections, will hold an extraordinary summit on Mali in Ghana's capital Accra on January 9.

Colonel Assimi Goita has led Mali since an August 2020 coup ousted former president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, after weeks of street protests over perceived corruption and Keita's handling of a bloody jihadist insurgency.

Under pressure from La Belle France and Mali's neighbours, Goita pledged that Mali would return to civilian rule in February after holding presidential and legislative elections.

But he staged a de facto second coup in May 2021, forcing out an interim civilian government and disrupting the timetable.

The junta cited persistent insecurity in Mali's restive north in its decision to postpone the elections.

Former Plateau Governorship Aspirant Kidnapped By Gunmen
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Some button men on Saturday kidnapped a former governorship aspirant in the 2019 election in Plateau State, Nkemi Nicholas Nshe.

Nshe is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, who served as Chairman of Shendam Local Government Area of the state at different periods in the past.

He was kidnapped at his residence in the council area in the early hours of New Year's Day, Punch reports.

One of Nshe's associates in Shendam, who lamented the abduction of the former council boss, said the incident was causing tension in the area.

He said, "Please join us in praying for the release of Dr Nkemi Nshe who was forcefully kidnapped from his Shendam residence in the early hours of Saturday being the New Year day, January 1, 2022. It was in the night that the button men came to his house and whisked him away. They did not go with his phone.

"The incident is rather unfortunate. We don’t know where they have taken him to. But yesterday evening (Saturday), I learnt that the kidnappers called the family members through the phone number of the son and demanded N100million ransom which they later reduced to N50million.

"Where will they get that kind of money when people are just suffering everywhere? It baffles me why the Federal Government through the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy would make Nigerians go through hard experiences by subjecting them to SIM card registration and yet, this kind of thing would be happening without the perpetrators being apprehended.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan now infiltrating its Army personnel into India
[OneIndia] The Indian Army foiled an attempt by the Pakistain Army's Border Action Team (BAT) in the Keran Sector. Swift action by the troops on the Line of Control foiled a bud and eliminated a Pak terrorist, Major General AS Pendharkar, GOC 28 Infantry Division, said.

Meanwhile the Indian Army has asked Pakistain to take back the body of the infiltrator who was killed while he was trying to cross the LoC in the Keran Sector of Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
's Kupwara.

The man killed has been identified as Mohammad Shabir Malik. The Indian Army suspect that he may have been part of Pakistain's BAT. The Army said that the incident site was located on the Pakistain side of our anti-infiltration obstacle system. The infiltration attempt was spotted early. Ambushes were laid and the infiltrator was eliminated, following which the body was recovered. One AK rifle, ammunition, and seven grenades were also recovered, Major General Pendharkar said.

He also said that the incident clearly establishes that Pakistain continues to sponsor cross-border terrorism. A hotline communication has been made to the Pakistain Army from our side asking them to take the body of the infiltrator back.

He further added that a search of the belongings of the slain Pakistain national revealed a Pakistain national ID card and vaccination certificate issued by the country's Ministry of Health. The photo on the card shows the man in a Pakistain armed forces uniform Major General Pendharkar also said. He also added that the infiltration attempt was a complete breach of the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistain that was announced in February last year.

Iraqi forces arrest three ISIS suspects near Erbil
[Rudaw] Iraqi forces arrested a number of Islamic State

(ISIS) suspects near the Kurdish capital, the US-led Coalition said on Sunday as the resurgence of the terror group threatens the security of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Directorate (CTD) detained three ISIS affiliates near Erbil in an operation conducted on Saturday night, the Coalition’s Special Operations Joint Task Force-Levant said in a tweet, without disclosing the exact location of the arrests.

"These operations ensure that ISIS is unable to harass the people of Iraq," it added.

The Iraqi forces have not yet commented on the arrests.

Salahaddin, and Diyala.

The terror group has conducted 229 attacks in the disputed territories in the first 11 months of 2021, a Peshmerga official told Rudaw on Monday. The attacks killed 356 people while 480 others were maimed.

Iraqi and Kurdish officials are in protracted talks to form two joint brigades in these areas. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Services (ICTS) Spokesperson Sabah al-Numan told Rudaw English on Monday that the brigades will be established within the first two months of the current year.

Multiple ISIS suspects have recently been arrested.

Iraqi forces arrested five members of the Death Eater group in Kirkuk on December 23, five days after the Kurdish security forces detained a group of ISIS affiliates in Erbil.

In its propaganda magazine on Thursday, ISIS claimed to have conducted 10 attacks in Iraq from December 23 to December 29, killing and injuring 36 people.

Two Kurds detained by Turkish military near Erbil are still in custody for the fourth day
[SHAFAQ] For the fourth consecutive day, the Ottoman Turkish military kept two young Kurds in detention after capturing them in the vicinity of Kurdistan's capital city, Erbil, last week.

Informed sources told Shafaq News Agency that the detainees were caught near a Ottoman Turkish base in the company of a woman residing in the Ottoman Turkish Kurds' camps in Makhmour.

"The motives of accompanying this woman or their presence in that area are not known. Did they intend to cross the borders? Were they on a hunting trip as claimed by their relatives?"

Usually, the Ottoman Turkish army releases the citizens who approach its bases inside the Iraqi territory after a brief detention. However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
those two young Kurds are still in jug even after four days of their capture.

Multiple sources revealed that the two citizens were transferred into the Ottoman Turkish territory.

SMC confirms Shafaq News agency's exclusive info concerning the Jableh massacre
[SHAFAQ] The Security Media Cell disclosed new details on the Jableh massacre.

The head of the Cell, Saad Maen, stated to the semi-official al-Iraqiya channel that the Ministry of Interior's statement on the incident was preliminary and undetailed.

"What happened was a crime, and an irresponsible misuse of power", Maen said, noting that the security forces, at the time, received inaccurate information confirming that there were two holy warriors in the victims' house.

He added that 12 children were killed in the house in Jableh, pointing that 14 suspects are arrested until the moment.

These updates confirmed Shafaq News agency's exclusive report on the incident.

Shafaq News reveals shocking details in Jableh crime: intelligence officer accused his relative of Terrorism
[SHAFAQ] 2021-12-31 13:01
Shafaq News/ "On Thursday, December 30, at 1500 [Iraq time], an officer in the Iraqi Intelligence in Jableh sub-district of Babel Governorate revealed that a group of people wanted according to Article 4/Terrorism in the residence of Rahim Kadhem Obada al-Ghariri in al-Rachayed area."

"Immediately, a force from Jableh's Intelligence rushed to the location. Upon their arrival, the owner of the house opened fire toward the members of the patrol."

"According to the statements of the officer, the District's magistrate was contacted to obtain approvals, and a SWAT force was deployed," official wire seen by Shafaq News Agency said.

"The SWAT force encircled the house, and festivities erupted between them and the owner, who refused to surrender even though he shot two officers... At 1900, the confrontation ended, and the force entered the house to find out that all the family members, 20 persons including children and elders, were killed."

Three security officials revealed to Shafaq News Agency the shocking circumstances of the gruesome incident that rendered the Ministry of Interior's undersecretary for Intelligence Affairs, Ahmed Abu Ragheef, rush to the scene of the crime.

The sources said that a disagreement erupted between the house owner and a relative of him who is an intelligence officer. The latter exploited his ties to deploy a security force in order to arrest his relative after claiming he is a member of the terrorist organization of ISIS.

The armed festivities between the security force and the house owner, and his son prompted the attacking force to deploy heavy weapons, killing the entire family.

Another source said that Babel's Police Commander and head of Intelligence were summoned to investigation per the orders by the Minister of Interior, Othman al-Ghanmi.

The Security Media Cell (SMC) said in a statement earlier today that the security force was pursuing two holy warriors and engaged with them.

In a statement to Shafaq News Agency, security expert, retired Brigadier-General Adnan al-Kinani, said, "the plan of the attack was not successful. Any wanted person could be arrested outside his residence instead of engaging with him in a confrontation the way it happened."

"The incident is classified as a criminal act in case prior judicial proceedings were not obtained. The issuance of the warrant during the festivities is a dangerous sign. It is also a criminal act."

"The report of the forensic team that examined the scene can be issued within hours. They can compare the type of the bullets and the distance they were fired from to the weapons and bullets of both sides... Was the killer the head of the family or a security force? They can tell from the number of bullets in the victims' bodies. Moreover, the security forces usually shoot in the head or chest at a close distance. These hypotheses can aid the investigation to identify the culprits."

Israeli security forces on Sunday morning arrested the second suspected accomplice of a Paleostinian man who was rubbed out after an attempted stabbing attack outside the Ariel settlement on Friday, the military said.

The suspect was arrested in the Paleostinian village of Haris in the northern West Bank, not far from the site of the attempted stabbing, in the predawn hours of Sunday morning, the Israel Defense Forces said.

On Friday morning, the Paleostinian attacker — Amir Atef Rayan, 37, from Qarawat Bani Hassan — got out of a car at Gitai Avishar Junction outside Ariel in the northern West Bank, armed with a knife, and approached a bus stop, where civilians and soldiers were standing.

Troops at the scene opened fire, fatally wounding Rayan, who was pronounced dead in a nearby hospital.

The military immediately launched a manhunt for the other people in the car that had transported Rayan to the scene. One suspect was arrested on Friday afternoon.

Overnight, Israeli forces arrested the second suspected accomplice in Haris, whom the IDF said was apparently the driver of the car.

Senior West Bank Hamas official to be charged with incitement, supporting terror
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, co-founder Hassan Yusef has spent years in and out of Israeli jail, mostly under administrative detention; indictment comes as tensions rise between Israel, Hamas

Hamas co-founder Hassan Yusef will be charged in the coming days in an Israeli military court for incitement to terror and supporting a terror group, Israel Police said in a statement on Sunday.

Yusef, a senior figure in Hamas’s West Bank division, is seen as a relative moderate in the terror group’s apparatus. Since helping found the Hamas terror movement in the 1980s, Yusef has been arrested numerous times and spent years in Israeli prisons, much of it in administrative detention.

Israeli forces arrested Yusef in mid-December, one of dozens of Paleostinians picked up in operations following a wave of terror attacks. In the announcement on Sunday, police tied Yusef’s arrest to a speech he gave following an attack by a Hamas member in Jerusalem’s Old City.

In mid-December, Hamas member Fadi Abu Shkhaydam opened fire on passersby near the Old City’s Chain Gate, killing an Israeli civilian, Eli Kay, before being rubbed out. Yusef arrived at the Shkhaydam family’s mourning tent later to give a fiery

speech.

"The suspect arrived at the mourning tent of the terrorist’s family who carried out the shooting attack, where he praised the terrorist’s actions and even conveyed the condolences of the Hamas movement to his family," Israel Police said in a statement.

It was not clear what investigation police actually conducted over the past few weeks to clarify Yusef’s crimes, as he is an avowed member of the terror group who regularly speaks publicly on its behalf, including to The Times of Israel. The speech referenced by police was streamed on Facebook.

"We will march forward, and there is no force in this land that can break our will," Yusef said, telling Abu Shkhaydam’s family that he was there as the representative of Hamas’s leadership.

Hamas claims that Yusef is only active in its political wing, not its military wing, and has no direct involvement in terror operations. Both branches of the terror group avowedly seek to destroy Israel.

Demolition order issued for home of Hamas terrorist who carried out deadly shooting
[IsraelTimes] The Israeli military issues a demolition order for the home of a Paleostinian terrorist behind a deadly terror attack in November in Jerusalem’s Old City.

On November 21, Fadi Abu Shkhaydam shot up a number of Israeli men in the alleyways of the Old City, killing one man, Eliyahu Kay, and injuring four others, two of them seriously. Border Police officers returned fire, killing Abu Shkhaydam.

The military initiated the process of demolishing Abu Shkaydam’s home in East Jerusalem’s Shuafat refugee camp shortly after the attack. His family appealed the decision in court, but their requests were rejected.

The head of the Israel Defense Forces’ Home Front Command, Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin, signed the seizure and demolition order for Abu Shkaydam’s home, the military.
Courtesy of Skidmark, the Jerusalem Post adds:
Although violent attacks in the West Bank have jumped significantly over the past year, the number of deaths from terror attacks is the lowest in a decade.

According to data released by the military, there have been 5,532 incidents of rocks being thrown, 1,022 Molotov cocktails thrown, 61 shooting attacks and 18 stabbing attacks over the past year.

ISIS kills Syrian Soldiers in East Syria
Five Syrian soldiers have been killed and 20 injured in a rocket attack on a military transport bus in the east of the country [probably Deir ez-Zor]

Sunday's attack took place at approximately 7pm (17:00 GMT), Syrian state media reported on Monday, adding that a military vehicle in the Badia area came under a rocket attack followed by artillery shelling by ISIL (ISIS) fighters.

ISIL, which declared a caliphate straddling parts of Syria and Iraq in 2014, has lost all the territory that was under its control in 2019.

However, the group continues to wage a low-level fight in both countries, launching frequent hit-and-run raids from desert hideouts on either side of the border with Iraq.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards say 9 killed in shootout in southeast
[Al Ahram] The latest festivities in Sistan-Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
broke out around a hideout of hard boyz near a village in the centre of the province, the Guards said late Saturday on their Sepah News website.

Sistan-Balochistan, bordering Pakistain and Afghanistan, is a flashpoint for festivities with smuggling gangs as well as separatists from the Baluchi minority and holy warrior murderous Moslem groups.

"Six bandidos were killed and five others maimed," the Sepah News report said, while three members of the Basij, a paramilitary force linked to the Guards, also died. No arrests were announced.

On Friday, the Guards said they had "targeted and killed the perpetrators" behind an attack that left two of their members dead on December 25 in the same province.

On November 18, three police, including a colonel, were killed and six maimed in fighting with an gang in an area bordering Sistan-Balochistan.

In recent years, the most active rebel group in Sistan-Balochistan has been the jihadist outfit Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice), which has carried out several high-profile bombings and abductions.

In February 2019, 27 Guards were killed in a suicide kaboom on their bus.
