On MLK Day, Yellen says US economy is unfair to Black people
ATLANTA (AP) — The U.S. economy "has never worked fairly for Black Americans — or, really, for any American of color," Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in a speech delivered Monday, one of many by national leaders acknowledging unmet needs for racial equality on Martin Luther King Day.

Major events for the holiday also included the annual Martin Luther King Jr. service at the slain civil rights leader’s Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, whose senior pastor, U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock, was hosting Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and other politicians.

Monday would have been the 93rd birthday of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who was just 39 when he was assassinated in 1968 while helping sanitation workers strike for better pay and workplace safety in Memphis, Tennessee.

King, who delivered his historic "I Have a Dream" speech while leading the 1963 March on Washington and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, remains one of the world’s most beloved figures. He considered racial equality inseparable from alleviating poverty and stopping war. His insistence on nonviolent protest continues to influence activists pushing for civil rights and social change.

Yellen referred to King’s famous speech in remarks she recorded for delivery at the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network breakfast in Washington, noting the financial metaphor he used when describing the founding fathers’ promises of equality.

King said on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial that "America has defaulted on this promissory note insofar as her citizens of color are concerned." He called it "a bad check, a check which has come back marked insufficient funds. But we refuse to believe the bank of justice is bankrupt!"

#1  The US Economy is extremely fair.

90+% of the time a person just has to get off their Butts to to train up and "EARN IT".

No one white, black, ta, yellow or whatever has a corner on earning $$$$$. True some are filthy right. What how did that happen? Usually Right place, right time having prepare some time prior.

Also please explain to me why so many of our LEGAL immigrants come here. Setup small family businesses and make a good enough living to support a family and get the kids thru College?

Also WHY the sudden abnormally early play of the Race Card by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen? Is it because its MID-TERMS and they need to stir up the usual BLIND mistrust for votes, to maintain power?

BTW:James Earl Ray, who we are told killed MLK, was a Northern Born IL. Democrat. So does anyone care to explain how a small time petty Gas Station robber, suddenly had the skills and exp. acquire multiple Passports, travel US-Canada-Europe and have enough $$$$$ needed to pull it off?

Could it be called Elite DC "assistance"?

Posted by: Rob Crawford || 01/17/2022 15:34 Comments || Top||

#11  Even FACTCHECK.ORG pretty much seems to say TRUMP had a run. The C-19 got him.

An less anyone forgets.... he did this with both the House and Senate trying to screw him over using with FAKE and PHONY Impeachment Evidence.

Plus
"Job Openings — For nearly two years, Trump and the White House boasted that the U.S. had more job openings than workers to fill them. That was the case for 23 straight months from March 2018 through February 2020 — a month before the pandemic lockdown began to swell the ranks of the unemployed."

So was it The Wuhan Virus, congress paying people MORE to sit on their butts than working, or Trumps Mgt.?

Plus ..... If a person were to look at the OBAMA figures, they would note Obama had more Minorities on unemployment.
Maybe the 50+% NON-African part of Obama was Racist?

BTW: if Factchk isn't liberal enough... USA TODAY

Also was citing higher Minority EMPLOYMENT during Trumps Admin. With again a note of a Wuhan Virus causing issues.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
The remarkable lengths taken to whitewash Bill Clinton's cosy links to pervert Jeffrey Epstein when Hillary ran for President
[MAIL] The email came out of the blue one day in 2016. Almost a decade had passed since Miles and Cathy Alexander had left their jobs as residential managers of Little St James, Jeffrey Epstein's private island in the Caribbean.

Since then, Epstein had been jailed — briefly — for paedophile offences and the couple had retired to their native South Africa.

But now Darren Indyke, the disgraced tycoon's attorney, was back in touch. The lawyer wanted the Alexanders to do something that would be of particular benefit to Hillary Clinton and her campaign to become the first female President of the United States, later that year.

Europe
Rookie Dutch MP Routs PM Rutte, Speaks Truth To 'Great Reset' Power
[AmericanThinker] As with other European Union countries, the Dutch government has been reveling in the power COVID bestowed on it. In response, the Netherlands has seen huge and violent protests against those draconian strictures. I’m betting that some of those protesters were among the people who voted for Gideon van Meijeren, a young man newly elected to the Dutch Parliament. This young man, during his first appearance on the floor, managed in just two minutes to completely humiliate Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Watching the video will make your day.

For a long time, the Netherlands has had some of the most restrictive COVID measures in Europe. In November, the Netherlands was one of the countries that announced that the unvaccinated were banned from most public places. The restrictions escalated when the Netherlands, a country in which 85% of the adult population was vaccinated, had an upsurge in COVID cases. These restrictions included putting a curfew on all bars, restaurants, and most stores from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. Immediately after the new year, the government also made it clear that, within a few months, vaccination certificates will be considered void without a booster.

In response to the government edicts, the Netherlands has been roiled by protests. There were massive protests in November, December, and (already) in January. The January protest made world headlines when the police allowed (or ordered?) their dogs to launch brutal attacks against the protesters.

A video is circulating showing van Meijeren, during his first official appearance in Parliament, asking Prime Minister Rutte a question. It’s a brilliant video because van Meijeren sticks to his guns as the Prime Minister sneers at him and at all those who are no longer on board with the world establishments’ COVID narrative. You will witness one of the great moments of someone truly speaking truth to power. Also, for an added smile, be sure to keep your eyes on the young woman sitting behind van Meijeren:

Mitt Romney: Biden has had '52 weeks of bad weeks'
[Washington Examiner] Republican Sen. Mitt Romney did not hold back when criticizing President Joe Biden’s first year in office.
You thought he was a better choice than President Trump, buddy. So they’re your 52 bad weeks. Enjoy your consequences.
When Meet the Press’s Chuck Todd asked the Utah senator what he believes the state of the nation is, Romney said the nation is "severely divided."

"When he was elected, people were not looking for him to transform America," Romney said. "They were looking to get back to normal, to stop the crazy. It seems like we’re continuing to see policy and promotions that are not accepted by the American people."

Romney also pushed back at Democratic strategist and media contributor James Carville, who had appeared on Meet the Press prior to the senator and said he would tell Biden, "Soldier on. You know, you had a bad week, but you had a good year."

"No, no, [Biden’s] had a bad year," Romney said emphatically. "He’s had 52 weeks of bad weeks. People are 7% poorer now because of Biden inflation. Gasoline prices are, what, 50% higher than they were when he took office. The border is a mess. COVID was resurgent. He didn’t have in place the [COVID] tests people needed to keep themselves safe. There was a disaster in Afghanistan. Russia is now threatening Ukraine. Things are not going well."
Remember when they were going well, buddy? It was until the last day of Donald Trump’s presidency. You, the brilliant Mitt Romney — former governor, former business owner, former business consultant, temporary US senator — were the one who decided that even Joe Biden would be better than Donald Trump, so you worked hard to effect that replacement. Swallow that thought until you choke on it... buddy.

#6  FWIW,

Romney has, at least, voted with the republican senate leadership on nearly every important measure in the past year. If he hadn't, the Dems might have BBB and the election fraud act by now.

#7  Romney is trying to keep his 2024 re-election hopes alive. We'll see if a credible primary opponent emerges. If Jason Chaffetz wants it, I bet he could take the seat from Romney.

Glenn Youngkin bans critical race theory, ends mask mandates in schools on first day as Virginia governor
Yesterday we read about his new attorney general clearing the decks for action. We do live in interesting times.
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] On his first day in office, Virginia's newly-elected Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed 11 executive orders, including ones that he campaigned on, such as ending critical race theory and mask mandates in the state's schools.

Among the 11 executive orders are orders allowing parents to opt out of mask mandates in Virginia schools, withdrawing from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, and ending the use of critical race theory, or "the use of divisive concepts, including critical race theory, in public education."

The list of executive orders Youngkin signed are as follows:
  1. Executive Order Number One delivers on his Day One promise to restore excellence in education by ending the use of divisive concepts, including Critical Race Theory, in public education.

  2. Executive Order Number Two delivers on his Day One promise to empower Virginia parents in their children’s education and upbringing by allowing parents to make decisions on whether their child wears a mask in school.

  3. Executive Order Number Three delivers on his Day One promise to restore integrity and confidence in the Parole Board of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  4. Executive Order Number Four delivers on his Day One promise to investigate wrongdoing in Loudoun County.

  5. Executive Order Number Five delivers on his Day One promise to make government work for Virginians by creating the Commonwealth Chief Transformation Officer.

  6. Executive Order Number Six delivers on his Day One promise to declare Virginia open for business.

  7. Executive Order Number Seven delivers on his Day One promise to combat and prevent human trafficking and provide support to survivors.

  8. Executive Order Number Eight delivers on his Day One promise to establish a commission to combat antisemitism.

  9. Executive Order Number Nine delivers on his Day One promise to withdraw from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).

  10. Executive Directive Number One Ten delivers on his fulfilling his Day One promise to jumpstart our economy by cutting job killing regulations by 25 percent.

  11. Executive Directive Number Two Eleven delivers on his fulfilling his Day One promise to restore individual freedoms and personal privacy by rescinding the vaccine mandate for all state employees.
