[Washington Examiner] Republican lawmakers want answers from the FBI regarding a report that it has been in possession of a laptop that supposedly belonged to Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's son Hunter.
Nineteen House Republicans sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday demanding answers for their role regarding the New York Post's report that the law enforcement officials possessed the laptop, which contained correspondences between the younger Biden and his contacts overseas, since December 2019. The Biden campaign has denied any wrongdoing.
They raised questions about when the FBI supposedly got a copy of the computer and hard drive, given it was allegedly around the time the House of Representatives impeached President Trump for urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate claims of corruption regarding the Bidens. The Senate ultimately voted not to remove Trump from office.
The computer, which was supposedly left at a computer repair store in Delaware, was handed over to the FBI and included an email that discussed a previously undisclosed possible introduction between Joe Biden and Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the board of Burisma. This email, if accurate, could show the former vice president contradicting claims that he never discussed overseas business with his son.
They wrote that the "most concerning" part of the report is that the FBI "was in possession of this computer and hard drive back in December 2019," while a "large portion of the President’s legal defense case revolved around strong evidence that former Vice President Biden’s son, Hunter, was peddling his influence to his father to land lucrative jobs overseas that he might not have otherwise been qualified for."

[NationalReview] Hunter Biden entered into a consulting contract with China's largest private energy company that initially earned him $10 million a year "for introductions alone," according to leaked emails.
In an email chain from Aug. 2, 2017, Biden discussed a deal with the former chairman of CEFC China Energy, Ye Jianming, saying Ye agreed to change the terms of Biden's three-year consulting contract with CEFC, which initially promised Biden $10 million per-year "for introductions alone," to make it "much more lasting and more lucrative," the New York Post reported, although the authenticity of the Biden emails has not been independently confirmed.
The new deal included a 50 percent equity stake in a holding company created by Ye rather than the $10 million in annual cash that had been previously negotiated.
"The chairman changed that deal after we me[t] in MIAMI TO A MUCH MORE LASTING AND LUCRATIVE ARRANGEMENT to create a holding company 50% percent [sic] owned by ME and 50% owned by him," Biden wrote in one email.
In the same email chain, Biden discussed deals with the CEFC that he said were "interesting to me and my family."
Another email sent to Biden on May 13, 2017 had the subject line "Expectations" and identified Biden as "Chair / Vice Chair depending on agreement with CEFC."
CEFC reportedly went bankrupt this year. Ye, who was connected to Chinese military and intelligence, has been missing since 2018, when he was arrested by Chinese authorities.
[CNN Politics - December 9, 2019] There is zero evidence that Biden had any active role in the appointment of his son, Hunter, to the board of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company, in 2013. Not ten months ago, there wasn't. Not much. Not in the media.
But what was lost amid the exchange - and Biden's angry response - was there is still a very real question that Biden should continue to be asked and needs to find a clearer answer for. And it's this:
"Do you think it was appropriate for your son to be on the board of a Ukrainian company - and being paid $50,000 a month in that role - while you were the vice president of the United States?"
That question is a) fair b) totally worth asking and c) something Biden should be required to answer, beyond what he has said publicly so far.
To date, Joe Biden has been reluctant to engage on questions about Hunter. He's been able to do so - in large part - because President Donald Trump has said a slew of untrue things about both Bidens. Biden has been able to simply note - rightly - that all of Trump's allegations about how Biden forced the removal of Ukraine's top prosecutor in 2016 in order to keep that prosecutor from looking into his son are false. Except for the fact Joe bragged about it. On the TeeVee.
Asked by Axios' Mike Allen in an interview that aired Sunday night regarding his defense of his son, Biden said this: "I don't know what he was doing. I know he was on the board. I found out he was on the board after he was on the board and that was it." Pressed by Allen on whether Biden - as a candidate for president -- was interested in getting to the bottom of how his son got on the Burisma board, the former vice president responded: "No. Because I trust my son." Maybe he forgot about that by now.
Really? I mean, I get trusting your son. But Biden's son has already said publicly that being on the board was "poor judgment!" And it's an absolutely worthy question for someone who wants to be president of the United States: Do you think it was a mistake for your son to be on the board of a Ukrainian natural gas company being paid a large sum for it while you are the vice president of the United States?
Biden can get angry. He can get up in arms. But he really should get used to answering the question. Good point, CNN. See if you can remember it in 2020.

Biden campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon said that all in-person campaigning by the senator from Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, -- including stops planned for today in the crucial battleground state of North Carolina -- have been canceled for the rest of the week and weekend.
Dillon said the campaign learned late Wednesday night that both Liz Allen, Harris' communications director, and a non-staff flight crew member tested positive for COVID-19.
"Senator Harris was not in close contact, as defined by the CDC, with either of these individuals during the two days prior to their positive tests; as such, there is no requirement for quarantine," Dillon announced in a statement.

As reported by local news, one individual received multiple ballot request forms for her deceased husband:
"Kristen Link received four ballot request forms in the mail addressed to her husband, who passed away in 2015. Kristen thought the forms were sent by a government agency, but they came from a third-party group called the Center for Voter Information. The ballot applications are already filled out and addressed to the Bexar County Elections Administrator."
The Center for Voter Information, which also lists itself as Women’s Voice Women Vote Action Fund, counts two staunch Democrats as its leadership.
Founder and Board Chair Page Gardner has worked for "numerous Democratic and left-wing issue campaigns," including those of Bill Clinton in 1992 and Hillary Clinton in 2008.
Gardner has repeatedly attacked President Trump on Twitter, and has donated over $200,000 to Democratic candidates, Political Action Committees (PAC), and Democrat campaign finance committees.
And Tom Lopach, the group’s Chief Executive Officer, appears to support Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and has a long history in Democratic politics.
Lopach served as Executive Director of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Chief of Staff for Democratic Senator Jon Tester, and Chief of Staff and Senior Adviser for Democratic Governor Steve Bullock.
The group’s PAC has also funneled hundreds of thousands exclusively to Democrats, and actively against Republicans.
In 2020, the group shepherded nearly $40,000 so far to support Biden.
In 2018, $92,718 was spent against Republicans, and in 2016, $78,266 was spent against then-candidate Trump and $41,968 was spent to support Democrats by the Center for Voter Information.
What’s more, the group has been exclusively donating to Democrats since its 2006 founding.
The group also made headlines recently for mailing more than two million Virginia voters official ballot applications, but due to an "error by the printing company," hundreds of thousands of ballot applications were sent with incorrect addresses. What’s more, Virginia election officials raised concerns about the activist group’s mailers masquerading as official documents
"This mailing is causing great confusion and concern among voters who have been contacting our office. While the mailing may appear to be from an official government agency, the Fairfax County Office of Elections did not send it," said Fairfax County General Registrar Gary Scott.
The news is just the latest in a string of false, missing, or tampered ballot stories the media and Big Tech firms keep denying, across the country.

[VARIETY] UPDATED: Twitter users reported broad problems accessing the service Thursday afternoon across the U.S., Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... and other parts of the world, with the technical issues lasting for more than two hours.
According to DownDetector.com, reports of problems with Twitter began to spike just after 5:30 p.m. ET, and soared to over 53,000 complaints by 5:58 p.m. Those began to taper off about 20 minutes later.
In an update posted at 8:14 p.m. ET, Twitter’s communications team wrote, "The recent issue was caused by an inadvertent change we made to our internal systems. Twitter should be working for everyone within the next few hours."
Did the FBI Sit on a Computer Containing Evidence of Hunter Sex Tape and Biden Burisma Corruption? [PJMEDIA] What about the part where the FBI had possession of this information back in December? Why didn’t the FBI come forward with this evidence about Hunter Biden’s emails, which appear to show collusion and influence-trading? Isn’t that something they should have told the president or members of Congress? Was the FBI deliberately covering it up? If the good citizen who came forward and alerted the FBI of the contents of the laptop had not made a copy of the information, it would still be under FBI lock and key. But the computer repairman did make a copy and sent it to Rudy Giuliani. If true, it’s a stunning indictment of the FBI that an American citizen—who alerted them to alleged multiple crimes involving a guy with the last name Biden—knew not to trust them and made other arrangements should they try to cover it up (which, apparently, they did).
In early July of 2019, just more than two months after former Vice President Joe Biden kicked off his campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, the magazine published a more than 10,000 word piece attempting to whitewash misconduct by the candidate’s troubled son, Hunter.
The article chronicled Hunter Biden’s upbringing, a senator’s son as a sympathetic figure who has struggled with heartbreak and addiction while, unlike many children of prominent politicians, still had to work part-time jobs in college to make ends meet. Most striking about the New Yorker essay however, was its explicit attempts to get ahead of a news cycle prophesied by the eventual Democratic nominee’s son himself.

Trump and some of his allies, in their eagerness to undermine Biden’s candidacy, and possibly to deflect attention from their own ethical lapses, have gone to extreme lengths, promoting, without evidence, the dubious narrative that Biden used the office of the Vice President to advance and protect his son’s interests.
Later, the piece continued to forecast what the next few months would look like, which would also ultimately feature Democrats going nuclear – all the way to a six-month impeachment trial while the coronavirus brewed overseas – to deter any real investigation of Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings. Democrats would even charge a Senate investigation launched in 2017 by Republican Sens. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and Chuck Grassley of Iowa as Russian interference, a favorite and increasingly familiar line of attack based on nothing more than a political motivation to merely link “Russia” with “Republican” in the same sentence. After all, a considerable population remains absolutely convinced that the president sits in the Oval Office operating as a Russian agent as a consequence of a four-year media campaign to legitimize the Democratic conspiracy.
“Through weeks of conversations, [Hunter] became increasingly open about his setbacks, aware that many of the stories that he told me would otherwise emerge, likely in a distorted form, in Breitbart or on ‘Hannity,'” the New Yorker piece read.
Obama conference call leaked to Burisma: Biden emails

An associate at Blue Star Strategies then emailed a memo with minutes of the conference call hosted by the White House to a top Burisma executive, Vadym Pozharskyi, as well as to Joe Biden’s son Hunter and Hunter’s business partner, Devon Archer, both of whom sat on Burisma’s board.
The trip, in December 2015, turned out to be the one during which Biden later bragged about forcing Ukrainian officials to fire a state prosecutor who was investigating Burisma by threatening to withhold a $1 billion US loan guarantee.
The memo, sent shortly after the Dec. 2, 2015, call, also “outlined the trip’s agenda and addressed several questions regarding US policy toward Ukraine.”
Blue Star has said it began working for Burisma and contacting Ukrainian officials on its behalf in November 2015, and an email shows that on Nov. 18, 2015, Pozharskyi sent the Blue Star contract to Hunter Biden, Archer and Eric Schwerin, president of the Rosemont Seneca Partners investment firm.

Scully said that when he saw his tweet had created a controversy, "I falsely claimed that my Twitter account had been hacked."
He had been frustrated by Trump's comments and several weeks of criticism on social media and conservative news outlets about his role as moderator, including attacks directed at his family, he said.
"These were both errors in judgement for which I am totally responsible for," Scully said. "I apologize."
He said he let down his colleagues at C-SPAN, fellow news professionals and the debate commission. "I ask for their forgiveness as I try to move forward in a moment of reflection and disappointment in myself," he said.
C-SPAN said Scully confessed to lying about the hack on Wednesday.
"He understands that he made a serious mistake," the network said. "We were very saddened by this news and do not condone his actions."
The debate commission did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
Scully has led the network's presidential election coverage since 1992, but the suspension means he won't be part of C-SPAN's election night programming. Scully has been the moderator of "Washington Journal," the weekly call-in program, and regularly hosted other C-SPAN programs.
The network said Scully has consistently demonstrated fairness and professionalism, and built a reservoir of good will.
"After some distance from this episode, we believe in his ability to continue to contribute to C-SPAN," the network said.

To date, Joe Biden has been reluctant to engage on questions about Hunter. He's been able to do so - in large part - because President Donald Trump has said a slew of untrue things about both Bidens. Biden has been able to simply note - rightly - that all of Trump's allegations about how Biden forced the removal of Ukraine's top prosecutor in 2016 in order to keep that prosecutor from looking into his son are false.

[PJMEDIA] What about the part where the FBI had possession of this information back in December? Why didn’t the FBI come forward with this evidence about Hunter Biden’s emails, which appear to show collusion and influence-trading? Isn’t that something they should have told the president or members of Congress? Was the FBI deliberately covering it up? If the good citizen who came forward and alerted the FBI of the contents of the laptop had not made a copy of the information, it would still be under FBI lock and key. But the computer repairman did make a copy and sent it to Rudy Giuliani. If true, it’s a stunning indictment of the FBI that an American citizen—who alerted them to alleged multiple crimes involving a guy with the last name Biden—knew not to trust them and made other arrangements should they try to cover it up (which, apparently, they did).
