California Democrats Propose 'Wealth Tax' to Combat Massive Deficit
[PJ] The state government of California is in a $50 billion hole thanks to the coronavirus pandemic — and a few other spending measures like giving free medical benefits and "stimulus checks" to illegal aliens.

The state’s budget deficit is probably far steeper than it should be, all things considered. So Democrats will tax the rich to help make up the deficit.

The rich are perfectly capable of speaking for themselves and need no defense from any of us to help them ward off state-sponsored theft. But there is an important principle at stake that needs to be defended vigorously.

How much should the most successful among us be taxed? The idiotic notions that the rich got that way because of racism or because they "stood on the backs of the poor" are liberal political rhetoric and not serious debate points about the issue of wealth or taxes. And if the state is going to raise taxes on anyone, they are beholden to the people to find ways to cut government expenditures by an equal or greater amount.

California Democrats are not going to cut any of their pet programs to narrow the deficit, so they’re going to get cash from the most convenient source; the rich and successful.

Zero. They should be punished not for what they've done FOR others, but for for what they've done TO others which is why Capitalists advocate for taxes on title.

Pizza Hut's largest franchise operator plans to close as many as 300 pizza shops
[DALLASNEWS] NPC International Inc., the largest franchise operator for Plano-based Pizza Hut, announced on Monday that it will close as many as 300 Pizza Huts. The decision was made after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July, when shutdowns related to the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic challenged its businesses.

A statement from Kansas-based NPC says it has not picked which restaurants will close, or when. NPC operates 1,227 Pizza Hut franchises, or about 18% of Pizza Hut’s 6,700 stores. NPC also operates just under 400 Wendy’s stores.

A "substantial majority" of the Pizza Huts that are closing are dine-in restaurants, the statement says.

The company does not operate any Pizza Huts in Dallas proper; its closest North Texas restaurants are to the east, in Tyler and Lindale, and to the northwest, in Bowie.

Across North Texas, small restaurateurs are trying out pizza during the pandemic. Yum! Brands, Pizza Hut’s parent company, reported an eight-year high in delivery and carry-out sales in early May.

Pizza Hut has been challenged by rising food and labor costs and competition with other pizza brands such as Domino’s Pizza and Papa John’s Pizza, we reported in July.

Pizza Hut says the closures are "an important step toward a healthier business" in a statement.

Congressional GOP Candidate From Baltimore Drops a Truth Bomb on Democrats With Viral Video
[TOWNHALL] Baltimore GOP congressional candidate Kim Klacik turned heads on Monday when she released a new campaign video that dared to tell people in her city something her opponents wouldn't: the truth.
There's no way she's gonna get elected, but she's what the city needs.
We had Mrs. Klacik’s video here yesterday. A beautiful and insightful woman who took the time to get to know the needs of the constituency as well as the local Republican party before offering herself as the solution.
"Do you care about Black lives?" Klacik asks at the start of her video. "The people that run Baltimore don't." In stilettos and with conviction, Klacik then invites viewers to go on a walk with her into one of Baltimore's many dilapidated, crime-ridden neighborhoods.

In the video, Klacik passes an almost endless vista of boarded-up homes, shattered windows, and urban detritus: an all-too-common sight throughout Baltimore. Far from completely abandoned, these rowhouses are home to thousands of Baltimoreans, including children, and are the location of hundreds of homicides per year. The urban decay born out of poverty and desperation has spread like cancer in recent years, as those with any means have packed up and headed out of the city.

Klacik made national headlines last summer when she toured homes that were crumbling in West Baltimore. The videos she took of the filth and decay caught the attention of President Trump, who started a now-infamous spat with Rep. Elijah Cummings
...late Representative-for-life from Maryland, representing half of Baltimore City, which makes his district ultra-safe, and most of Howard County, which is out-populated by the city. His shiny pate was the reason we pronounce the city name Baldymore. Cummings' politix were so liberal they were tedious, nor was he any more honest than the next seedy professional pol. A fuss fest like you wouldn't believe eruped when President Trump pointed out that Elijah's district was infested by rats and cockroaches. Shortly thereafter he died. Elijah, not Trump...
"This is Baltimore, the real Baltimore," Klacik said in the video. "This is the reality for black people every single day: crumbling infrastructure, abandoned homes, poverty, and crime. Baltimore has been run by the Democrat Pary for 53 years. What is the result of their decades of leadership?"

She then went on to recount the staggering crime and poverty statistics the city has become notorious for.

"Baltimore is one of the top five most dangerous cities in America," she said. "The murder rate in Baltimore is 10 times the U.S. average. In 2019, Baltimore recorded 348 homicides. As the city loses residents at a staggering rate, the murder rate in 2020 has stayed on pace to match or eclipse the number from last year. So far in 2020, 208 people have been murdered. “

Chirlane McCray (Mrs. Bill de Blasio) enjoys $2M staff of 14 amid NYC budget crisis
[NYPOST] There’s no money for regular trash pickups or to maintain city parks, but Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him...
’s wife enjoys a 14-member staff — including a $70,000 videographer who captured her baking cookies during the pandemic. Some of the Chirlane McCray staffers, who cost city taxpayers a combined $2 million a year, work for the first lady’s $1.25 billion mental health initiative ThriveNYC, which has come under fire for its lack of metrics.

"Whatever happened to ThriveNYC?" asked City Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Queens).

"How much taxpayer money will the mayor’s wife pilfer before leaving office? How can she sleep at night hiring these hacks knowing so many other city workers are facing layoffs this fall? This is a disgrace!" Ulrich fumed.

McCray has a core team of eight staffers, according to a recent list provided to The Post following a Freedom of Information Law request filed in October 2019. This is despite the city facing layoffs of 22,000 municipal workers over the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
-induced budget crisis.

There’s a $117,000-a-year speechwriter, even though McCray held that same position under former Mayor David Dinkins
...the former mayor of New York. He sez he lost to Rudy Giuliani in 1993 because of racism, which is pervasive in places like Manhattan...
, and a $150,000-a-year senior adviser who was recruited in April after de Blasio announced a hiring freeze to help close a $7 billion deficit caused by the coronavirus.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom: Time to ‘Sober Up' About Green Energy's Flaws
FAILURE
[Breitbart] California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday that the state had to "sober up" about the fact that renewable energy sources had failed to provide enough power for the state at peak demand, and needed "backup" and "insurance" from other sources.
Unexpectedly.
Newsom addressed journalists and the public in the midst of ongoing electricity blackouts that began on Friday, as hundreds of thousands of Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) customers in northern and central California lost power.

There is currently high demand for electricity across the state, as the entire West Coast has been hit by a heat wave and record-breaking temperatures.

One reason the state lacked power, officials admitted, was its over-reliance on "renewables" — i.e. wind and solar power.

There was not enough wind to keep turbines going, Newsom said, and cloud cover and nightfall restricted solar power.
What? You mean solar plants don't work at night? And wind turbines don't work without wind? Who knew?
"While we’ve had some peak gust winds," he explained, "wind gust events across the state have been relatively mild."

That was good for fighting fires, he said, but bad for the "renewable portfolio" in the state’s energy infrastructure. In addition, high demand for electricity in the evening hours, coupled with less input from solar plants, created strain.

On Friday, Newsom said, the state had fallen about 1,000 megawatts short; on Saturday, it fell 450 megawatts short. Sunday saw only "modest or minor" interruptions. But on Monday, he said, the state would be 4,400 megawatts short of "where we believe we need to be."

"This next few days, we are anticipating being challenged," Newsom said, as the heat wave was predicted to last through Wednesday.

"We failed to predict and plan these shortages," Newsom admitted boldly, "and that’s simply unacceptable." He said he took responsibility for the crisis, and for addressing it immediately, so that "we never come back into this position again."

Newsom said the state would try to address shortfalls through conservation, and through procuring new sources of energy.

Though the state would continue its "transition" to 100% renewable energy, Newsom said, "we cannot sacrifice reliability as we move forward in this transition."

Newsom asked the public to help manage the current crisis by conserving energy. Air conditioning, he said, should be set to 78º from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., for example, and children should be reminded to turn lights off in rooms as they left.
I gotta tell you, folks, Mrs. Uluque is a southern California girl who is accustomed to 70 degrees. When the temperature gets too far above or below that, she freaks out and I'm the one who suffers for it. Seventy-eight degrees is way in the heck too hot for this girl. Well, she doesn't like Newsom anyway.

Because 78° is so much more tolerable after 3pm as compared to other times of the day.

This is a squirrel. The real problem is voters and politicians alike don't understand how these energy systems work, and those who do are muted. Gee, I wonder why.

#8  And I believe CALPERS, by law, had to invest x-amount in "green" companies.

#9  It's not that California needs to sober up, liberals need to sober up. Conservatives have been pointing this out for years as they dismantled nuclear plants and blocked the building of dams.
