Congresswoman Maxine Waters jumps out of her car to intervene as black man stopped by police
[Independent] California congresswoman Maxine Waters went to assist a black man who was pulled over by police in Los Angeles this weekend.

In a video shared online, Ms Waters parked her SUV and said she intervened to see what Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers were doing when they pulled a black man over.

The black Democrat told the person videoing that "they stopped a brother so I stopped to see what they [the LAPD] were doing".

She added that police had threatened her with a ticket, and said: "They say I’m in the wrong place"

"They’re going to give me a ticket, but that’s okay, as long as I watch them," added the congresswoman.

She was then seen walking back towards the police, as another person behind the camera says "you gotta do what you gotta do, make sure".

Ms Walters responds with "I will", as the video ends.

Thousands have since watched the 15-second clip on Twitter, where it was shared on Sunday.

It comes almost two months after nationwide demonstrations against police brutality and systemic racism sparked by the death of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, in Minneapolis police custody on Memorial Day.

The Independent has contacted Los Angeles’s police department for comment.

Trump gains ground, but still trails Biden by wide margin
[AS] President Donald Trump has cut into former Vice President Joe Biden’s lead in the 2020 presidential election, but still trails the presumptive Democratic nominee by a wide margin, according to several new polls released Sunday.

Just three months ago, Trump and Biden were in a dead heat, with the Fox News poll for April showing the two candidates at 42% each among registered voters nationwide.

After states began reopening public activities in the spring, however, support for the president collapsed, with voters losing faith in his ability to handle the coronavirus crisis.

According to a new poll released Sunday by ABC News/The Washington Post, Trump led Biden in three-and-a-half months ago among registered voters by two points, 45% to 43%, on the question of which candidate is more able to handle the crisis.

Now, however, Biden holds a twenty-point edge on that issue, with 54% of registered voters saying he is more able to handle the crisis than Trump, compared to 34% who say Trump is more capable of handling the crisis.

#1  They can vote as they will; I will vote as I must.

Separately, back when we had a landline, I was called regularly by political surveys. Since Mr. Wife talked me into being a cell phone only household, and more so since I mostly stopped answering unknown numbers, I haven’t had any — so the polls no longer include my opinion. Not because my opinion matters all that much, but because of all the people like me who no longer answer the phone.

And finally, as I understand it, while historically there are more registered Democrats than registered Republicans, the ratio is reversed among likely voters.
Posted by: trailing wife || 07/20/2020 7:53 Comments || Top||

#2  Most of these polls don't matter because most voters aren't paying much attention.

The next thing that will really matter is the Dem convention. If the Dems fail to prevent the obvious crazies from participating, it will devastate them.

After that is when Biden reads his nomination acceptance speech. The Dems have reason to fear that Biden will get lost multiple times during this.

If Biden does make it through his speech, the acceptance speech by the VP nominee is the next problem. A fiery pro socialism, pro riot speech would cost them 10 points.

#3  If '16 was the Flight 93 election this will be the Alamo election with Donald Trump as COL Travis. The choice is pretty stark.

As far as the polls go at this point in time I don't really know anybody who would report to an unknown voice from an equally unknown organization support for the President. The socialists openly advocate re-education and 'reporting Trump supporters' although to whom and for what remains unclear.

Is it so much of a stretch to think that with a little digital effort you could not later be identified and thus, well, God only knows what. Does anybody think the Red Guard magically disappears regardless of who is elected/re-elected?

Missouri Governor Says He Will Pardon the Gun-Waving Couple Who Stopped a BLM Mob If They Are Indicted
[Red State] It was epic. A Black Lives Matter mob in St. Louis broke through a gate into a gated community, allegedly on their way to demonstrate at the home of the mayor, but trespassed on the property of Mark and Patricia McCloskey. Some of the mob was armed. A lot of it acted threatening. Rather than cower in their home and hope that the police eventually got around to caring, the McCloskeys took the bull by the horns and exercised their Second Amendment rights:

In a sane political climate, this would never have happened. But in a sane political climate if it had happened you wouldn’t have had the district attorney, George Soros owned Kimberley Gardner (over $190,000 in Soros super PAC money went to her in the last election) tripping over herself in an effort to fly top cover for a trespassing mob and to prosecute two homeowners who the police had ruled acted appropriately. On the day after the event, Gardner put the McCloskey’s on notice that she intended to drop the hammer on them for having the audacity to stand up to Gardner’s favorite mob:

#2  Some of the photos 'seem' to show her pointing the gun at hubby's head. If their lawyer can be believed, the gun was a prop, maybe a replica, maybe just unloaded, that the couple used in court to depict 'evil weapons of the debble'. Okay, I added those last five words. They make their living off of appearing anti-gun. I consider them perfect Democrats. Also, in other maybe 'news', a local gun shop offered to replace the AR. I don't know what happened after the purported offer, but if they end up Guv-pardoned, leg-transpondered, and armed with a couple of new AR's, well then God Bless America.

#5  What I understand private property began at the gate, so is it still brandishing when the aggressor is trespassing and threatening? Don't know Missouri law.

However: prop, airsoft, whatever, in this situation they should be treated as the handling of real firearms. As should every aggressor carrying an item be up for possession of deadly weapon.

Federal investigators digging deeper into Pritzker's $331K property tax break
[Ill. Policy] Pritzker infamously removed toilets from his Gold Coast mansion in what the Cook County inspector general called a "scheme to defraud" taxpayers.

As federal investigators circle closer to Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, they have also been working on collecting records related to Gov. J.B. Pritzker's Gold Coast mansion property tax break, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Federal prosecutors have been requesting records from the Cook County assessor's office about a $331,000 tax break the governor got after removing the toilets during remodeling of a mansion he owns next to his own home. Authorities sought the name of every employee who was involved in the tax break, along with associated communications.

The improper tax breaks took place during Joe Berrios' tenure as assessor. Current Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi has been complying with the feds' record requests.

In April 2019, it was revealed Pritzker and his wife, M.K., were under federal investigation for the tax breaks. M.K. Pritzker had directed workers to remove the toilets from the home during renovations so the mansion would be deemed uninhabitable, resulting in a property tax break. After an inspection was complete, she had them reinstall one toilet in J.B.'s "hangout/meeting area." J.B. Pritzker said he would pay the taxes when the tax dodge was revealed during his campaign for governor, but that has not cooled the interest of investigators.

A 2018 Cook County Inspector General report called Pritzker's actions a "scheme to defraud."

Pritzker on July 17 called on Madigan to resign if the bribery allegations involving him are true, and went on to say: "When I think about the possibility of people committing these kinds of wrongdoings, I think people who are in public service need to live up to the integrity of the job they were asked to do."

The Pritzkers hired contractor Bulley & Andrews during the mansion's renovation. In May, it was revealed the same company that removed Pritzker's toilets was also cashing in on federal contracts while still working for the governor.

U.S. Department of Defense records show Bulley & Andrews was awarded nearly $9 million through a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contract to convert the old Westlake Hospital in Melrose Park into a COVID-19 care facility. The Corps last worked with the firm in 1944.

Bulley & Andrews also worked as subcontractors on a separate Corps project to reopen Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Both jobs were to increase the state's hospital capacity for COVID-19 cases expected to overwhelm the health care system, but neither hospital site has been needed and the Corps has been criticized for the lack of transparency in awarding $1.7 billion in contracts nationally.

Then the contractor was hired for $2.5 million to build a new home and outbuildings at Pritzker's Kenosha County, Wisconsin, horse farm. According to an investigation by WFLD-TV, more than 20 construction workers, mostly from Illinois, were working on the project despite the governor's stay-at-home order and the fact he has discouraged travel to other states, specifically Wisconsin, fearing it could increase the spread of the virus in Illinois.

While Pritzker is embroiled in a federal investigation of tax fraud, he's asking the rest of Illinois' taxpayers to support his plan to raise income taxes for the third time in a decade. Pritzker so far has put $56.5 million of his own money into a campaign to remove the state's flat income tax protection from the Illinois Constitution to allow for a progressive income tax.

If voters approve Pritzker's amendment Nov. 3, Illinoisans could find themselves paying more taxes in six different ways. Seniors should be especially concerned with Pritzker's plan. While retirement income is currently exempt from the state income tax, Illinois State Treasurer Mike Frerichs confirmed in June the governor's "fair tax" amendment would open the door for a retirement income tax.

Former Kentucky Democratic Party chairman sentenced to nearly two years in prison for illegal campaign contribution scheme
[Wash Examiner] The former head of the Kentucky Democratic Party was sentenced to nearly two years in prison for his role in a scheme to funnel thousands of dollars into his daughter's failed 2014 campaign for U.S. Senate.

Jerry Lundergan, Kentucky's former Democratic Party chief, was given a 21-month prison sentence by Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove on Thursday. Due to concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, Lundergan, 73, will not have to report to prison until next winter.

Tatenhove received dozens of letters pledging support for Lundergan amid the case, including one from former President Bill Clinton and another on notebook paper from a former homeless man given a job with Lundergan's company, WKYT reported.

Last year, Lundergan was convicted of being part of a scheme to funnel more than $200,000 in illegal campaign donations to the Senate campaign of his daughter, Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Courier-Journal reported.

"These are important laws that regulate the integrity of our elections," said Robert M. Duncan Jr., the U.S. attorney for Kentucky's Eastern District. "A jury convicted them and the court has now sentenced them for their crimes."

The case had been investigated by the FBI.

Lundergan's attorney indicated they intend to appeal the judge's sentence.

"But I am appreciative of the court of understanding the quality and character of of my client Jerry Lundergan, varying substantially below what the guidelines would have recommended," said defense attorney Guthrie True. "But as the court noted today, we will be off to the court of appeals."

Schiff: After Trump Is Gone We Will Continue to Investigate and ‘Expose What He Did’
And I quote: "Blah blah. Blah blah blah blah. And blah."
That last blah is the clincher.
[BREITBART] Saturday, during an interview with Jon Lovett on "Crooked Media," House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff
...Showboating U.S. Representative for California's 28th congressional district since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, Schiff has served in Congress since 2001. He currently serves as the chairman of the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. In a manner reminiscent of Joe McCarthy, on March 22, 2017, in a interview with Chuck Todd on MSNBC Schiff claimed there was “more than circumstantial evidence now” that Donald Trump's campaign colluded with Russia." Todd followed up by asking if he had seen direct evidence of collusion and Schiff responded that there was "evidence that is not circumstantial and is very much worthy of investigation"...
(D-CA) said investigations into President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
would continue after he leaves office.

Schiff said, "After the election, after he’s gone, then I think we have to continue to expose what he did in office because, of course, the administration has stonewalled us in every way it can. They have stonewalled every subpoena, every request for information. There is a lot more evidence of the president’s wrongdoing that is being withheld and will be withheld as long as he is in office."

On the court battles over Congress’ subpoenas of Trump’s financial records, Schiff said, We are going to pursue them now. They may well be able to stonewall them up and through the fall. Frankly, for me, the issue is less about getting the records before November, it’s about getting them while the country is at risk. We don’t know why this president is so beholden to Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
. Is it just his affinity for dictators? Is it just his administration for Putin? Is it his insecurity? Or is it his financial interests in Russia or with Russian oligarchs? This is why the withholding of these financial records id dangerous because we don’t know if this president is compromised."

He added, "So we are going to persist with that litigation. We hope that we get it this year. If we don’t, we will continue until we do."

Dem Rep. Meeks: Trump Turning America into North Korea
Oh, noze! Trump is literally Kim Jong Un!!!!!
[BREITBART] Sunday on MSNBC, Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY) said President Donald Trump
...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election...
using federal agents to remove protesters in Portland, OR is something that would happen in North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
Host Alex Witt said, "To the battle in Portland, Oregon where anonymous militarized federal agents have been squaring off with protesters as you watch what is unfolding, what is your opinion and do you think it is an abuse of power?"

Meeks said, "My reaction is this the United States of America? This is the same kind of thing that I guess this president wants to go along with his good friends as he says, Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
and Russia, something that you would think would take place there, or Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
in North Korea something that would take place there. This is how they govern and operate, and I hoped we moved far past that. I heard the mayor of Portland talk long ago how they have put things under control and what happened by doing this, it is escalating, it is throwing fire on the fuel. So we look at some of the pictures and what is going on, we would be very critical when we saw these tapes as we have in the past take place in Russia and North Korea and now this president wants to be just like his two friends, I guess."

My concern for the civil liberties of Antifa/BLM rioters has dropped to Absolute Zero. For all I care, the Feds are welcome to round them all up and detain them indefinitely without trial-- preferably until they're too old and feeble to do any more rioting.

UConn Student Government Leaders Resign Because They Are White
But it could be because they're all spineless invertebrates..
[BREITBART] The president and vice president of the UConn student government resigned this month on the basis of their skin color. Vice President Alex Ose said that she stepped down to make room for "black, indigenous, and people of color" to step into leadership roles.According to a report by the College Fix, two leaders of the UConn student government resigned so that their positions could be filled by minority students.

"I feel that it is my duty to step down from my position to make space for BIPOC (black, indigineous and people of color) voices to truly rise and be heard. It is my responsibility to make space, not to create an echo," student VP Alex Ose said.

Ose even encouraged her peers to follow her lead. She suggested that every white member of the student government should step down so that their position could be filled by a minority student.

"I am asking all members of USG to truly consider their intent in holding their positions, and to urge everyone to truly think if they are making space for the voices that need to be heard right now," Ose added. "I call upon the senators and executive board to consider also stepping down to make space for BIPOC voices."

#2  I am acquainted with a former school superintendent in a nearby Georgia County who was discreetly asked if he would consider retiring... 5 years early. He had watched the saga unfold as the school board systematically divested itself of melanin challenged members.

Having already calculated his answer, he responded with an accommodating "yes, with full pension and a five year salary cash buy out." The board approved the retirement in less than two weeks. He was retired within 30 days and is now raising Angus cattle in Pike County.

#3  University of Connecticut Undergraduate Ethnic Diversity Breakdown

Now 70+% of the student body will go unrepresented. Excellent job of indoctrination, UCONN!

But what is this? 77+% of UCONN faculty MUST RESIGN NOW to make room for their new "black, indigenous, and people of color" overlords!

University of Connecticut Faculty Ethnic Diversity Breakdown

#6  The photo is most appropriate. Made me chuckle quite a bit. Anybody this moronic that whatever they get coming to them. Any yes, student government is a tool for indoctrination and/or a tool for those few chosen by the administration to compete with one another for favor. It's also incredibly expensive at most institutions, despite contributing literally nothing.
