Trump announces that houses of worship are ‘essential,’ calls on governors to open them up

#1  I personally feel faith is something that is in your heart, not something worn on your sleeve. That said, there are times I have been greatly relieved by the strength to be found in being part of a congregation. Lots of people have heard "Suffer the little children to come unto me," but they assiduously avoid thinking about the "it would be better if they had a millstone around their neck" part of that passage. Bad enough some old guy lost his wife because Mr. Cummo or tranny Dr. Levine put infectious people in the PCH she was living in, don't compound it by keeping him out of church as he tries to understand and cope with his gummint imposed loss.

#2  If Churches are not essential then the media isn't either as they're both covered by the First Amendment, right? /rhet question

#4  It also puts the knickers in a twist for the leftist church hierarchies of the Catholics, Episcopalians, Lutherans, etc.

Another 3-D Chess move.

#5  Again, I'm grateful to live in South Carolina, where our governor never restricted churches because he said he did not have that power under the First Amendment. Go, Gov. McMaster!!!

#7  People in my church are scared of coronavirus and will likely not congregate until there is a vaccine. It is not what you call a conservative church.

#8  Political scientists who studied Reagan's landslide in 1980 noticed an unusual, unprecedented shift in Evangelical Christian voters' behavior: prior to the 1980 election the vast majority were either apolitical and not inclined to turn out to vote, or else voted Democratic.

IIRC the best explanation for the massive increase in not only evangelical turnout but in evangelicals voting for the Republican was that these folks became political after Jimmy Carter's DOJ made moves to take away their churches' and broadcasters' tax-exempt status. This reaction was completely off the reader of Carter's people -- even though they were all from Georgia and should have seen it coming.

Trump and Brad Parscale surely are aware of how powerful the Christian vote is. If the meme is established that these folks' churches and congregations are under attack, and that the only politician who cares at all about protecting their right to worship as they choose is Trump, then OrangeMan's real % of the vote will be far higher than the polls predict.

#9  I'm not too hip on the tax-exempt status for the churches. I thought the 1st Amendment was meant for no establishment of a state church a la the Church of England. Anyway, that horse left the barn ages ago.

So, Is That How the Special Counsel Office Avoided Turning Over the FBI's 302 Report to Flynn's Lawyers?
BLUF:
[The Federalist] This case has no prosecutor. He resigned and all parties have not opposed the DOJ motion. Yet, Judge Emmet Sullivan, who is presiding over this case, is appointing a retired judge, John Gleeson, to fight the DOJ and see if perjury charges could be attached, given Flynn’s guilty plea. It’s absurd but predictable. This case totally collapsed, but Sullivan had already gone on record to call Flynn a traitor. He was in a position of looking ridiculous, so he’s prolonging the legal agony here. Yet, what happened to the original FBI report on the Flynn interview?

The interview would have been part of a 302 report, which has to be filed five days after speaking with those who are part of a federal investigation. It took three weeks for Flynn’s 302 to be filed, where the report was edited by those who weren’t even there, a major departure in department policy. Flynn’s legal team wanted it. The SCO refused and for good reason. This so-called case was probably over before it began because the 302 would have included citation that the agents present felt that Flynn didn’t lie, gutting the entire plot against him. To deploy countermeasures and prevent evidence of Flynn’s innocence to be exposed, the SCO leaked the legal threats against Flynn’s son, who works with his father in lobbying efforts and was on the campaign trail with him. Keep this up and your family will be locked up. Undercover Huber, who elaborated in-depth on the Manafort case mentioned above, did a lengthy Twitter thread about the FBI’s 302 on Flynn and why those who wanted to get Flynn and damage the Trump administration would want to keep this buried forever:
Emphasis added.

Kelly Loeffler gets Air Force Two ride home but no endorsement
[Washington Examiner] ATLANTA, Georgia — Embattled Sen. Kelly Loeffler traveled to Georgia with Vice President Mike Pence aboard Air Force Two on Friday and insisted she was still in the fight to hold her seat despite the fallout from controversial stock trades.

The White House has stayed out of the furor, and Trump has endorsed neither Loeffler nor her Republican challenger Rep. Doug Collins.

But any hint that the ride to Marietta marked a tacit endorsement was dispelled by officials and some careful choreography. When the vice president descended the steps onto the apron at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Collins was second in line to greet him, just after Gov. Brian Kemp.

And when Pence thanked the state’s congressional delegation during an event at the headquarters of Waffle House, he was careful to lavish each with praise.

He described Collins as "a standout in the House of Representatives and a great friend" before turning to Loeffler: "Thank you for your strong leadership in the U.S. Senate."

And when the vice president traveled back to the air base, he rode with Collins, as if to balance up the optics. Loeffler did not travel back to Washington, and Collins did not get on the plane.

A senior administration official said the Air Force Two ride did not mean there were favorites. "It shouldn’t be seen that way," said the official.

Even a day hearing from people at the front line of Georgia’s efforts to reopen businesses did not dispel the nearly $2 million in trades Loeffler made after receiving a closed briefing on the looming coronavirus crisis.

"I’m in a statistical tie for first," she told reporters. "Georgians see what I’m doing. This is a political attack based on no facts. ... We are running a very strong campaign. I have grassroots operations in all 159 counties. I’m very proud of my track record in the Senate."

Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany Turns Briefing On Its Head, Demands Answers From The Press
"I need her. She fights"
[Daily Caller] White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany ended Friday’s press briefing by demanding answers from the gathered reporters.

McEnany, in response to a question about former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, treated the press to a slide show of questions that she said “any good journalist” would want to see answered.

“I laid out a series of questions that any good journalist would want to know about why people were unmasked,” McEnany began, asking whether anyone in the room had followed up on her questions.

“Oh, not a single journalist has posed that question?” she asked, introducing her slides and suggesting that they all consider the answers to her questions over the holiday weekend. “Maybe you’re visual learners and you guys will follow up with journalistic curiosity,” she added.

Her questions were as follows:

1. Why did the Obama administration use opposition research, funded by a political organization and filled with foreign dirt, to spy on members of the Trump campaign?

2. Why was Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn unmasked by Obama’s chief of staff, Joe Biden, Susan Rice, and others?

3. Why was Flynn’s identity leaked — a criminal act — to the press?

4. Why did the DOJ learn about the FBI’s interest in Flynn’s conversations with the Russian Amb. from a conversation with Obama in the Oval Office?

5. Why did James Clapper, John Brennan, Samantha Power and Susan Rice privately admit under oath that they had no evidence of collusion while saying the opposite publicly?

“It’s a long weekend,” McEnany concluded. “You guys have three days to follow up on those questions and I certainly hope the next time I ask, some hands go up. Because Obama’s spokesperson should be asked those questions, because President Trump’s spokespeople certainly would be.”

With that, McEnany closed her folder and walked out of the briefing room.

Will The Political Class Ever Be Held Liable For What They've Done?
[AIER] Politically-dictated lockdowns and prohibitions have recently destroyed tens of millions of American jobs. Politicians have effectively claimed a right to inflict unlimited economic damage in pursuit of zero COVID-19 contagion. The perverse incentives driving the policy have multiplied the harm far beyond the original peril.

Almost 40% of households earning less than $40,000 per year have someone who lost their job in recent months, according to the Federal Reserve. The Disaster Distress Helpline, a federal crisis hotline, received almost 900% more phone calls in March compared to a year ago. A recent JAMA Psychiatry analysis warned that stay-at-home orders and rising unemployment are a "perfect storm" for higher suicide rates. A California health organization recently estimated that up to 75,000 Americans could die from "despair" as a result of the pandemic, unemployment, and government restrictions.

In the name of saving lives, politicians have entitled themselves to destroy an unlimited number of livelihoods. Politicians in many states responded to COVID-19 by dropping the equivalent of a Reverse Neutron Bomb — something which destroys the economy while supposedly leaving human beings unharmed. But the only way to assume people were uninjured is to believe their existence is totally detached from their jobs, bank accounts, and mortgage and rent payments.

That's the exact approach of Charlie Baker in Mass. I heard this douchenozzle on Monday, announcing his 4-step plan to 'safely' re-open the economy (that he shut down unilaterally), with some paraphrasing - 'We're going to establish an advisory board, and a working committee to study this matter, and a blue ribbon panel that's really going to study this mattyer', etc. The Beacon Hill / government employee mentality was on full display; my bureaucracy bullshit meter broke instantly.

Lawmaker from Detroit sues Whitmer, fellow Democrats over censure after she met with President Trump
[MLIVE] State Rep. Karen Whitsett, D-bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
, filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
...Her Excellency, the dictator of Michigan, 2020 Dem VP contender...
and several fellow Democrats, claiming violations of free speech and defamation.

Specifically, Whitsett claimed Whitmer and the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization sought to deprive her of her right to engage in protected speech after she publicly thanked President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
for his suggestion of using the drug hydroxychloroquine to treat her coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
case.

Whitsett contracted the virus in March and has been open about her appreciation for the president’s suggestion, which she says saved her life. While it remains unproven that hydroxychloroquine can effectively treat COVID-19, it is used to prevent malaria and to treat rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and complications of Lyme disease. Whitsett suffers from Lyme disease, and was aware hydroxychloroquine can be used to treat that disease, but didn’t know until the president mentioned it that it was being testing for use against COVID-19.

As a result, Whitsett was invited to The White House to meet with Trump on April 14. During that meeting, she again thanked Trump for the suggestion and said her condition went "from 0 to 100" after she began taking the drug.

Following that meeting, Whitsett began receiving criticism for her public statements and was eventually censured by the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization. The organization took exception to her comments on the drug and the outbreak, saying they painted a picture that isn’t true and spreads misinformation.

Chris McClain, a precinct delegate for the organization who wrote the censure resolution, explained the decision to MLive last month, prior to censure vote.

"Her individual circumstance does not apply to everyone," McClain said. "She misrepresented a lot of the priorities and needs here of the community when she went to go meet with the president."

The Nation Columnist Defends Joe Biden From Tara Reade: ‘I Would Vote For Joe Biden If He Boiled Babies And Ate Them’
[DAILYCALLERNEWSFOUNDATION.ORG] A columnist for The Nation defended 2020 presidential candidate Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
from allegations of sexual assault by his former senate staffer Tara Reade, saying, "I would vote for Joe Biden if he boiled babies and ate them."

Columnist Katha Pollitt would vote for Joe Biden even if she believed Reade’s allegations of sexual assault, she wrote in her Wednesday column. "Fortunately, I don’t have to sacrifice morality to political necessity," she wrote.

Reade has accused Biden of kissing her, touching her, and penetrating her without her consent in 1993 when she worked for him as a senate staffer in Washington, D.C. Biden has repeatedly denied these allegations.

The Nation writer listed several examples of horrible things that the former vice president could do that would not prevent her from voting for him and voting for President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
— including eating boiled babies.

"I would vote for Joe Biden if he boiled babies and ate them," Pollitt wrote. "He wasn’t my candidate, but taking back the White House is that important. Four more years of Trump will replace what remains of our democracy with unchecked rule by kleptocrats, fascist
...anybody you disagree with, damn them...
s, religious fanatics, gun nuts, and know-nothings."

The Nation columnist, who has written for the publication since 1980, told the Daily Caller News Foundation that "some people didn’t like my dark humor and comic exaggeration," regarding the boiled babies comment.

Biden has previously said that voters should choose between voting for him and believing Reade’s allegations. "Well, I think they should vote their heart and if they believe Tara Reade, they probably shouldn’t vote for me," Biden said on MSNBC last week. "I wouldn’t vote for me if I believed Tara Reade."

Grenell smokes Eric Swalwell, calls his bluff on releasing transcripts of Flynn’s call to Russian ambassador
[BIZPACREVIEW] The Senate voted along party lines Thursday to confirm Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, as President Trump’s director of National Intelligence. Ratcliffe will replace Richard Grenell, who has been the acting director — Grenell has held the post since February, while retaining his role as U.S. ambassador to Germany.

Unfortunately, for Democrats, Ratcliff is expected to maintain the same commitment to transparency as Grenell, who reinforced that stance in a Twitter dust-up with Rep. Eric "I Farted on National Television" Swalwell, D-Calif.

Swalwell, a failed Democratic presidential hopeful best known for appearing to loudly pass gas on live television, leveled baseless accusations that Grenell and Ratcliffe are protecting the president.

Republican Sen. Tim Scott has lots to say about Biden’s ‘you ain’t black’ comment, but Atlantic writer Jemele Hill sez he’s right, while Biden apologises
[BIZPACREVIEW] U.S. Senator Tim Scott joined a chorus of voices condemning presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids....
for "arrogant" comments he made during a radio interview.

The Republican senator from South Carolina slammed the former vice president on the "condescending" declaration he made in an interview with Charlamagne tha God, co-host of "The Breakfast Club" radio show. Scott spoke on Fox Business Network’s "Varney & Co." on Friday about Biden’s latest controversial statement.

Biden came under heavy fire Friday for saying members of the black community who have a "problem figuring out" whether to vote for him or President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
in November "ain’t black." The Democrat faced immediate backlash as his surrogates and members of his campaign scrambled to put out the fire.

Joe Biden told black radio show host Charlamagne tha God that he "ain't black" if he's still mulling over whether to vote for him or Trump.

"Wow," Scott said in reaction.

"That is the most condescending, arrogant comment I’ve heard for a very long time. And that’s saying something," the politician told Fox Business host Stuart Varney, pointing out Biden’s history.

"The man who sponsored and led the charge on the 1990’s crime bill that locked up more African-American males than any other piece of legislation," he said.

"And President Trump comes along, and through his criminal justice reform, corrects the absolute mistakes made by Joe Biden, for him to make such an arrogant, ridiculous comment," he added.

"If you think about the numbers, 1.3 million African-Americans voted for Trump. He’s saying to 1.3 million African-Americans that you’re not black?" Scott asked. "Who in the heck does he think he is? That is the most arrogant, outrageous comment that I’ve heard in a very long time and I take offense to that."

In a tweet about Biden’s interview, Scott said it was "par for the course for Democrats to take the black community for granted."

Jemele Hill: What Joe Biden Said About Black Voters 'Was Accurate'
[BREITBART] Former ESPN sports commentator and current Atlantic writer Jemele Hill, jumped to Twitter Friday to defend Democrat presidential candidate Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'...
’s contention that if you’re confused about who to vote for, "you ain’t black."

Hill was incensed over the shock many whites experienced when they heard Biden say that black people are not black unless they intend to vote for him in November. The former vice president made the comments on Friday on the Breakfast Club radio broadcast cohosted by rapper Charlamagne tha God.

"If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black," Biden told Charlamagne after the radio host said, "It’s a long way until November; we’ve got more questions."

After the Internet erupted with condemnation for Biden’s comments, Hill jumped into the controversy to defend Biden.

Initially, Hill insisted that white people have no place to condemn Biden’s comments.

"Me watching white folks act outraged on behalf of black folks because Biden said, ’if you vote for Trump, you ain’t black’ ... as if these same white folks are in any position to speak about black identity or the black experience," she wrote.

Joe Biden Regrets 'You Ain't Black' Comment: 'I Shouldn't Have Been Such a Wise Guy'
[BREITBART] Former Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'...
expressed regret Friday for decreeing that African-Americans aren’t really black if they have trouble deciding to support him over President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
, saying he’s "never" taken the black community’s vote for granted and "shouldn’t have been such a wise guy."

"I should not have been so cavalier. I’ve never, never, ever taken the African American community for granted," Biden said during a call with black business leaders, according to CBS News news hound Ed O’Keefe.

"I shouldn’t have been such a wise guy," he added."I shouldn’t have been so cavalier. No one should have to vote for any party based on their race, their religion, their background."

Earlier Friday, Biden declared Friday that if black Americans cannot decide whether to back him over President Trump, "then you ain’t black."

Biden made the ridiculous unsolicited racially-charged comment as he wrapped his virtual interview with The Breakfast Club.

"If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black," Biden said to Charlamagne, not in response to a question, but after the radio host’s remark: "It’s a long way until November, we’ve got more questions."
