-Lurid Crime Tales-
Illinois Gov To Release Violent Offender Illegal Aliens Rather Than Give Them To INS
Governor Pat Quinn quietly announced Illinois’ formal withdrawal from Secure Communities in a letter to the Department of Homeland Security. This program, administered through Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is fully successful only when state prison systems cooperate with the ICE and the Department of Home land Security.

States can choose to participate by enabling discovery of the residency status of convicts held in state prisons and alerting ICE of upcoming convict release dates. According to ICE, this program targets the “worst of the worst”, ensuring that these offenders no longer remain in the United States following their release from prison.
Paging Snake Plissken! The president is now trapped in Chicago and surrounded by violent criminal illegal aliens.

#1  Should be a federal bill saying they can do that but only if they pay for a border fence for the state.

#4  You know that companies get sued for pawning off bad goods that hurt or harm people and to have prior knowledge of such 'problems' only compounds the offense? At a certain point it moves from civil to criminal. Of course the usual follow on job for an IL Governor is some prison space. So, maybe the dude is just making his next residence a little safer for himself.

Economy
Just in case you STILL want proof Obama's trying to destroy the economy...
HT Drudge
The "community organizer" crowd's out in full force again, hoping to use feddle gummint power to force banks to once again offer mortgages to people who can't pay them back.

Lawyers and bank consultants say regulators and the Obama Administration are scrutinizing financial institutions for a practice that last drew attention before the rise of subprime lending: redlining. The term dates from the 1930s, when the Federal Housing Administration drew up maps using red ink to delineate inner-city neighborhoods considered too risky for lending. Congress later passed laws banning lending discrimination on the basis of race and other characteristics. "The agencies have refocused on banks having the incredible nerve to actually use prudent lending standards redlining because, in the wake of the subprime explosion and sudden implosion, they are looking at these disadvantaged neighborhoods and not seeing any credit access," says Jo Ann Barefoot, co-chair at Treliant Risk Advisors in Washington, D.C., which consults with banks on regulatory issues.

At the Justice Dept., a new 20-person unit dedicated to fair lending issues received a record number of discrimination referrals from regulators in 2010 and has dozens of open cases, according to a recent agency report. Potential penalties can reach into the millions of dollars. "We are using every tool in our arsenal to combat lending discrimination, because forcing banks to shovel out untold billions of dollars in NINJA loans was SO beneficial the last time around" Thomas E. Perez, the Bolshevik ratbag who quashed the DOJ's "New Black Panther" voter-intimidation case assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Div., told a conference of rent-seeking communist thieves community development advocates in Washington in April.
Hmmm...guess it's time to load up on those dried-food and shotgun-shell futures contracts again...

#1  I am beginning to think those vets who went off into the jungles of the Cascade range and the drug fried desert rats who live in contex containers in the mojave were actually on to something.

We may well be on our ways to another dark age of medieval lawlessness with moats, drawbridges and hot buckets of pitch.

At the rate this moron is going, there may be no economy left to fix when we elect a new president.

#2  They never fixed "mark to market" or freddie ass or fanny crap either. We really are all going to hell with this government.
Posted by: newc || 05/12/2011 12:56 Comments || Top||

#3  I keep waiting to see if anyone in gummint's going to recommend reinstating Glass-Steagall's forced separation of commercial and investment banking, along with bringing back a strong Uptick Rule. The fix is obviously in, because all I hear is crickets chirping on both sides of the aisle. Paul Volcker's at least tried to promote a stripped-down version of Glass-Steagall, but of course the usual suspects have succeeded in strangling the Volcker Rule in its crib.

The Tea Party wing of the Republican Party needs to get out in front of this now. The Quislingcrats take gazillions from the big banks and investment houses (more than the Trunks got in the '08 election cycle, BTW), but the media will of course ignore that fact while they clobber the Republicans as "the party of Wall Street plutocrats."

Face it, folks. Wall Street as it now stands is an ENEMY of market capitalism as we've understood it in the past. The financial firms used to provide and enhance the capital that allowed real businesses to profit from producing real goods and services. All they do now is function as a gigantic casino, and they use all means at hand to make damn sure the advantage is always with the house.

I'm still waiting to see a conservative candidate start pounding on the theme of "Main Street, not Wall Street." Campaign on bringing back the sensible regs that worked well in the past (NOT the 2,000-plus-page Dodd-Frank abortion) and on going after the big fish who caused the crisis with criminal charges and long jail sentences - and yeah, Chris Dodd and Bawney Fwank, I'm looking at you. Demand that "too big to fail" be brought to an end - if a Wall Street firm is TBTF, it's just too damn big. The first Trunk candidate who promises to smash Goldman Sachs into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds has the best chance of getting my vote.

#4  Marcy Kaptur D-OH has filed a bill for reinstatement of all or part of Glass-Steagall several times over the years, most recently a month ago. It goes into a House committee, never to see the light of day again.

House Approves Bill to Lift Drilling Moratorium
The House of Representatives voted to open more of the nation's oceans for oil and gas exploration on Thursday by a vote of 243 to 179.

The "Reversing President Obama's Offshore Moratorium Act," requires the Interior Department to set a production goal of three million barrels of oil per day for its 2012-2017 leasing plan.

In order to reach that target, the legislation requires the department to hold lease sales off the coast of Southern California, in the Arctic Ocean, off Alaska's Bristol Bay, and in the Atlantic Ocean from Maine to North Carolina.

Republicans say that the bill, along with two other drilling measures passed earlier this month, would create 1.2 million jobs and lower the price of oil. The Congressional Budget Office says that the offshore lease sales would generate $800 million in revenue over ten years.

The Obama administration released a statement opposing the bill Wednesday. The White House argued that the proposal would undermine the current leasing process and mandate drilling leases without input from the affected states.
Weak statement from the WH, since most states are close to telling the feds to fuck off and just drill anyway.

#1  I'm surprised more states don't just start telling them to pound sand. If ten states all stood up at the same time and headed different directions, the feds couldn't do anything about it.
Posted by: gorb || 05/12/2011 17:13 Comments || Top||

#2  The irony here is, offshore oil is now owned by some farmer or land owner, it is leased to drilling companies by the US Government. So the US Government gets the royalty from the well. The US Government gets the taxes from the fuel. The US Government gets the taxes from the profits of the oil companies. The US Government gets the taxes from payroll of the oil company workers. The US Government gets the taxes from the goods and services purchased by the oil workers.

Unless one were PLANNING to fail or go bankrupt, why would one not sign the leases and begin production?
Posted by: Besoeker || 05/12/2011 18:08 Comments || Top||

#3  Correction to the above please: The irony here is, offshore oil is NOT owned.....

Senator Calls For Involuntary Training Of Military Personnel Before ETS
For the first time, U.S. troops would be required to enroll in a federal job-training program before they're allowed to leave the military under a bill introduced in the Senate on Wednesday.

"We are taking a huge step forward in rethinking the way we treat men and women in uniform after they leave the military," said Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., the chief sponsor of the bill.

It would be required as part of the Transition Assistance Program, which was created by a partnership among the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Transportation and Labor.

She said that one of the first things veterans learn is employers are reluctant to hire them because they fear they may have mental health issues.
And who put that idea out in public circulation?
"We consistently hear from our members that the challenges in this job market are mounting," said Paul Rieckhoff, founder and executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA)
(formerly known as www.OperationTruth.org, an anti-war, definitely anti-Bush organization, heavily funded by left wing organizations. Rieckhoff became a star on such programs as the Rachel Maddow Show on Air American Radio and MSNBC-TV, changing the name of the organization to elicit funding and support from unknowing veterans and their families, and away from legitimate veterans organizations.)
"They need jobs and skills training to transition into the civilian workforce, and we're encouraged to see that Congress is taking aggressive action on this front. There is a long road ahead."

The other co-sponsors are
all notorious leftist liberals,
Sens. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska; Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.; Robert Casey, D-Pa.; Max Baucus, D-Mont.; Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.; Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va.; Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii; Bernie Sanders, a Vermont socialist; Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio; and Scott Brown, R-Mass, a RINO.

#1  I remember the Transition Assistance classes that I had to take as part of retiring from active duty, and it seemed to me that that class were very thurough - to the point of acute tedium, fifteen years ago. Piles and piles of advisories and handouts, briefings and talks by everyone and his/her uncle. At one point, one of the briefers mentioned that when he had retired, god-knoweth how many years ago, he been handed his DD-214, told "see-ya, good-luck" and aimed toward the door. The other retiring NCOs in the back of the classroom all just looked at each other and murmered, "I wish!" This was the Air Force, though - other services' mileage may vary.
This isn't a great step forward, it's SSDD. (same s**t, different day.)

#3  Employer: "Son I'd like to hire you, but I see you were an avionics technician for the Air Force, so you're probably a psycho killer."

Veteran: "Well, yes sir, but thanks to Senator Feinstein I'm a psycho killer who's been through a federal job training program."

Employer: "Well, why didn't you say so? Can you you start Monday?"

#4  No mention of cost and where it would come from. No surprise.

You think active duty ETS was scant try National Guard 20 years ago especially for "part timers".

#5  ...it's because They Care(tm), since 'feelings' trump actually doing something constructive.

If they really cared, they'd quit implementing their socialist 10 Year Plan(tm) and allow a free market economy which would generate JOBS. However jobs are of low priority in comparison to the goals of socialist dogma.

That's sarcasm, by the way.

#9  Involuntary

Heres news for the dumbest set of Democrats in American history. These people Volunteered to protect and server the People. Not your fat lard @ss and they are reminded of that every time voting time comes around and you low lifes try to exclude them from voting.

Now when you start FORCING them into serving YOU like you are now FORCING them to go through queer indoctrination and other debased involuntary requirements that are an afront to the values of these men and women, you are in for big shock and awe.

#10  Lok behind the curtain and see plans for unionized Teacher associations and like groups to be preselected to provide this training. Yet another bribe with public money through unnecessary federal programs for Democrat allies.
Lord hlp us, will the corruption and theft of public funds never embarrass these people?

#11  "Heres news for the dumbest set of Democrats in American history. These people Volunteered to protect and server the People. Not your fat lard @ss and they are reminded of that every time voting time comes around and you low lifes try to exclude them from voting."

So true, and remember that the evil party also wanted to stop their pay during the government shutdown while they are in three wars. All political posturing using the troops for fodder.
Not stopping welfare checks, or other "entitlements" but Soldiers pay - when they have no other option to seek pay. Thats O-bamas horns for me.

If you are a Soldier, and you vote for this very evil enterprise, you are in essence violating your Oath. And stupid.
I will never forgive the democrat party for being so evil.

#12  Don't forget that COMRADE MURRY, (DemocRAT-WA), once said, in all seriousness, that OSAMA (now the late-ungreat Osama) was building schools and hospitals and libraries. This was soon after 9/11:

She claimed she was misquoted or misspoke (how the hell can you misspeak something like that).
