Fitting Osama into Obama Re-election Plans
Advisers to President Obama are tiptoeing carefully around the political bounce he received after the successful raid on Osama bin Laden's compound, wary of appearing unseemly, convinced the boost will be temporary and confident that the event will ultimately speak for itself. But Obama is already stitching the victory into the broader tapestry of his 2012 reelection campaign. It fits neatly into one of his core messages, that Americans are capable of tackling intractable, long-term problems. "Doing big things," as he put it in his State of the Union address.
Like, we're 'exceptional', man!
And although White House advisers insist they are not incorporating the bin Laden raid into their political planning for 2012, they acknowledge it has the potential to do more than simply reshape his image as a decisive leader.
His wha? OK, someone else will have to finish this; I have to go throw up.
"But it was a reaffirmation of that American determination and American spirit -- the ability to do the things that some people thought impossible," Axelrod said. "And that has value."
Like wrecking the American economy?

#1  wrecking the American economy is a bit more complicated than good 'ol Obama.

It has a lot to do with a lot of greed and stupidity and selling houses to people who are dressed in T-shirts and dont have jobs.
Its called re-distributing the wealth by selling junk bonds to everybody who is stupid and greedy like the bigger corporations on Wall Street. They got bailed out because they were too big to fail and why doesnt the government DO something.

read the NYT and watch Oprah and show up for work on time (if you have a job.) Wipe the drool off your chin and enjoy American idol. Its so YOU.

Depend on Congress to "help" you. You can trust all those people up there who know what you are really like. They have your number even if you dont have theirs.

And you know they arent going to fix the budget, dont you? You are on a one way rocket sled to hell. And you think its going to get better if you just have faith? In what, for instance?

#2  “Tonight, I can report . . . And so shortly after taking office, I directed Leon Panetta . . . I was briefed on a possible lead to bin Laden . . . I met repeatedly with my national security team . . . I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action. . . . Today, at my direction . . . I’ve made clear . . . Over the years, I’ve repeatedly made clear . . . Tonight, I called President Zardari . . . and my team has also spoken. . .These efforts weigh on me every time I, as Commander-in-Chief . . . Finally, let me say to the families . . . I know that it has, at times . . . .”

I'd say Obozo has already reached his quota of grandstanding for (a) making a no-brainer decision; (b) taking 16 hours to do so, suggesting he seriously considered deciding the other way; (c) being stingy with credit to the actual operators, except to the extent they served as a photo-op; and (d) acting like he invented an effort that was in motion long before he was anyone, and vindicates policies he opposed.

Much more of this obnoxioty and nauseous voters won't have to hold their nose to vote for the other guy. So as far as re-election strategy, his advisors really ought to advise him to "shut up."

#3  Well at least he doesn't have to worry about the dreaded 'Bin Laden Endorsement' any more.

#4  Minimal bounce for Obama. Lots of commentators mixing Obama/Osama's names up. All in all I'm happy Osama is dead but I don't think he'll be much of a factor in the elections a year from now.

#5  I first read that as "Fitting Obama into Obama Re-Election Plans", and thought, yeah, Axelrod's gonna have a real problem doing that.

#8  I wonder if the unemployed who voted for Obama in 2008 will still vote for him in 2012 when they are still unemployed.

#11  I'd say Obozo has already reached his quota of grandstanding ...

Come on, give the man some credit. He personally beat Bin Laden to death with a nine iron. What? You hadn't heard about it? No problem, in the NEXT revision of the story, you will ...

#12  Heh, Deacon.

It does seem like the plot of an underground comic, doesn't it?
