Removal of flag honoring veterans from White House sparks anger
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A decision by the Trump administration earlier this year to move the flag honoring missing war veterans from a prominent position atop the White House to a less visible spot on the South Lawn has angered some veterans and lawmakers, who see it as disrespectful and potentially illegal.

The flag is dedicated to prisoners of war and service members who are missing in action. According to a White House video posted in June, it was relocated in a private ceremony with full military honors, months after President Donald Trump signed into law a bill requiring the flag to be flown at certain federal properties including the White House every day.

The revelations come amid growing questions over Trump’s respect for the military, after a report last week by the Atlantic magazine alleging that Trump had called fallen American soldiers "losers" and "suckers" sparked outrage and controversy.

Trump denied the assertions, but has publicly disparaged the service of the late Senator John McCain, a war veteran, and was accused of criticizing his own generals in excerpts of a forthcoming book titled "Rage," by Bob Woodward.

"It’s bad enough that President Trump publicly ridicules American heroes like Senator McCain and others who were captured on the battlefield. He inexplicably promotes the Confederate flag but fails to fly the POW/MIA flag," said Democratic Senator Jack Reed, a co-sponsor of the bill. "It’s part of a pattern of disrespect by President Trump toward those who honorably served our nation."

Reed, and fellow Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Margaret Hassan, who also co-sponsored the bill, sent a letter to the White House on Thursday requesting that it reconsider the flag’s relocation.

#4  To Hell with John McCain. If you need a man to be a pillar of command and leadership in a highly adversarial POW situation, Bingo! The only thing is he went on to many other things over the course of many, many years. He may not have originated vindictive pettiness, but he sure added some chapters uniquely his own.

There's even some debate about that.

Not that I think I would done any better in those circumstances.

Then again, I wouldn't have tried to launch a political career out of it and then betrayed my constituents over and over again, while claiming that my experiences in the "Nam exempted me from all criticism.

Biden's Press Secretary Refuses to Say If Biden Uses Teleprompter In Interviews
[The Federalist] Joe Biden’s National Press Secretary T.J. Ducklo repeatedly refused to answer simple "yes or no" questions on Thursday night during a segment of Fox News’s "Special Report." It was one of the few times in Biden’s entire campaign that a representative has responded to real-time inquiries from any non-leftist corporate media.

Ducklo not only dodged Baier’s questions repeatedly, he refused to say whether Biden uses a teleprompter to feed him replies when he does corporate media interviews. Ducklo also falsely claimed Biden did not early this year condemn President Trump’s decision to close travel from coronavirus-infected areas, a decision credited with saving tens of thousands of American lives.

Portland police respond to ⁦@tedwheeler⁩ banning CS gas
[PUBLISH.TWITTER] Since May 29, 2020, Portland Police and partner agencies have been subjected to repeated violence by a group of motivated and well-organized individuals. These individuals have stated they intend to kill or injure officers and destroy occupied buildings and dwellings. Threats to commit acts of violence have been scrawled on police facilities and other property. Crowds have rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud about burning down buildings on their way to attempt to do that.

Rioters lit County offices on fire in a building which houses hundreds of inmates and public employees, as well as the Portland Police Central Precinct. Rioters barricaded doors shut at North Precinct and East Precinct and attempted to light the building on fire with employees and civilians inside. Officers have been attacked with rocks, glass bottles, frozen water bottles, lasers capable of causing permanent eye damage, ball bearings and sharp objects launched from slingshots, paint balloons (to render their face shields useless) as well as fire bombs, large fireworks, and other items.

Police officers have not been the only ones whose safety has been threatened during civil unrest in the city. Numerous community members have been assaulted, one person has been murdered, firearms have been discharged, and neighborhoods such as Kenton have been endangered by fires set in the streets and at the Portland Police Association office. Neighbors have been threatened and intimidated by people engaged in the nightly violence. Businesses have suffered losses from arson, vandalism and mass theft.

CS gas is a tool which has been used sparingly in the last 104 nights. We want to clear up a misconception that it is being used as crowd control. It is not. It is being used to disperse crowds only when there is a life safety event. Most recently, it was used to disperse a crowd from which a Molotov cocktail was thrown at officers and ended up injuring a community member who was on fire. We understand that this gas seeped into nearby homes and that is not something we desire. However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
the community should be asking the rioters why they are committing violence that threatens the very lives of others nearby. When people gather lawfully, peacefully, there is no need for intervention by police, much less the use of CS gas. That is evident from several nights, even within the last 104 days, when people gathered and police had no need to interact to prevent crime or restore order. In fact, that happens all the time in Portland.

There are those who suggest police do not even respond to these crowd events. Many times, we do try not to. In the past, crowds have come to our precincts, vandalized cars, gates, security cameras, etc. and police do not confront the crowd. When this occurs, the crowd escalates and does something such as light a building on fire so police will have to engage them.

Banning the lawful use of CS will make it very difficult to address this kind of violence without resorting to much higher levels of physical force, with a correspondingly elevated risk of serious injury to members of the public and officers. CS, while effective, is a significantly lower level of force than impact weapons, which would very likely be necessary to disperse riotous groups with its prohibition. We do not want to use gas. We do not want to use any force.

There remains an expectation that police will make arrests for crimes committed in civil disturbance events. The inability to use CS means this task will require higher levels of force to accomplish.

AG Barr Rips National Media as a 'Collection of Liars' Over Riot Coverage
[TOWNHALL] Wrapping up a three-day tour in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
, Phoenix and Cleveland, kept in touch with the world by Obamaphone,
...was ruled by a Democrat machine from 1942 through 1971. After the river caught fire during the administration of Carl Stokes they tried a Republican, then went back to being Democrats when the party hacked up Dennis Kucinich ...
Friday, Attorney General Bill Barr took on the media during an exclusive interview with Townhall.

"They're basically a collection of liars. Most of the mainstream media. They're a collection of liars and they know exactly what they're doing. A perfect example of that were the riots. Right on the street it was clear as day what was going on, anyone observing it, news hounds observing it, it could not have escaped their attention that this was orchestrated violence by a hardened group of street fighting faceless myrmidons and they kept on excluding from their coverage all the video of this and reporting otherwise and they were doing that for partisan reasons, and they were lying to the American people. It wasn't until they were caught red-handed after essentially weeks of this lie that they even started feeling less timid," Barr said on the flight back to Washington Friday afternoon.

"The press has dropped, in my view - and I'm talking about the national mainstream media - has dropped any pretense of professional objectivity and are political actors, highly partisan who try to shape what they're reporting to achieve a political purpose and support a political narrative that has nothing to do with the truth. They're very mendacious about it," he continued. "It's very destructive to our Republic; it's very destructive to the Democratic system to have that, especially being so monolithic. It's contributing to a lot of the intensity and partisanship."

For months major news networks have portrayed riots across the country as "peaceful protests." CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
ran a chyron of a news hound standing in front of a burning Kenosha business that read, "Fiery but mostly peaceful protest."

"It's funny that you had record numbers of police being injured during 'peaceful' protests," he said. "You know usually in protests, you have large numbers of injured rioters and a modest number of injured law enforcement. I'm talking about back in the 90s and 60s, 60s to the 90s, nowadays very few rioters get injured, very few and hundreds, even thousands of officers have been injured."

But while most of what Barr classifies as "national media" has failed to report the facts on the ground about recent unrest, he credits a small number of journalists who have worked to find and publish the real story.

"I think there are a handful of news hounds in the mainstream media that still have journalistic integrity, and there are some, but the overwhelming majority don't have it anymore," Barr said. "The people who do cover the Department do understand some of the issues. But, on the other hand, some of them have essentially adopted the same methods and ploys as what I refer to more generally as the national media and that is they're not because, probably somewhat because, of their own orientation and but also what their editors say, they're not really interested so much in what really happened but in pursuing a preformed narrative that suits some kind of ideological agenda. That's what it's all become."

One of those people is News Agency that Dare Not be Named news hound Mike Balsamo, who embedded with the U.S. Marshals protecting the federal courthouse in Portland during endless nights of rioting and unrest. Townhall's Julio Rosas has been on the scene of riots in Seattle, Portland and Kenosha.

According to Barr, the organizing behind the rioting in cities across the country is under investigation and federal law enforcement agencies are working to identify the individuals behind the chaos.

"People are pouring through all of the video trying to identify people to hold people accountable," Barr said, adding that the funding of the riots is also under investigation. "I think Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
and Antifa like groups are at the center of it."

Nick Sandmann Torches ACLU Associate, Professor Who Called Him 'Dangerous': 'I Will Not Be Canceled'
[DAILYWIRE] Former Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann
...16-year-old kid in a MAGA hat who harrasseed an ex-Marine Indian elder who was innocently thumping his tom-tom, smirking and trying to stare the war hero down. This was splashed across multiple mainstream news organizations, with lotsa pictures. One guy said Sandmann had the most punchable face he'd ever seen. Then it turned out that it was the Injun who was on the warpath, and then kid and his classmates were the ones being harrassed, with Injun Joe thumping and hollering in the kid's face. He was actually an ex-Marine, but he hadn't been, as he claimed, a Long Range Recon hero in Vietnam, but a refrigerator repairman in Omaha or someplace dangeerous like that. Sandmann sued CNN, the Washington Post, NBC, and similar fishwrap organizations for big bucks, and has won several cases. He's now starting college, with lib professors having hissy fits about his admission. The ACLU is violating his civil liberties by getting reports on his behavior...
fired back Thursday at an ACLU associate and a college professor who warned that he was "dangerous" and a "provocateur" and should be watched closely when he begins his freshman year at Kentucky’s Transylvania University, telling the pair that he is a "pro-life conservative Republican college student who won’t let cancel culture silence me" in a Fox News op-ed.

On Wednesday, The Daily Wire reported that Sandmann was the target of a two-pronged attack that began when a graduate of Transylvania University, who became an associate attorney for the ACLU, warned that Sandmann’s presence at the school was a "bit of a stain" on its reputation and called Sandmann "a provocateur in training with no intention of learning" who "exists only to troll, intimidate and play victim."

A Transylvania University professor, Dr. Avery Tompkins, initially defended Sandmann’s presence, telling the writer that "While I certainly don’t support or agree with his views, and find his public behavior and rhetoric atrocious and uninformed, we can’t not admit academically qualified students due to their political and personal views."

Then, though, she pledged to keep the ACLU and others appraised of Sandmann’s activities.

"If he ends up in my intro class, fine. He might learn something that is actually based on research and evidence. I’m well aware of the anti-intellectual views tied to the organizations he’s part of," she said. "If he were to cause problems by being disruptive, trolling, or engaging in unethical behavior of any kind, I would immediately document it (just like I would for any student doing the same thing) and he would just be putting himself in a position for me to file a conduct report."

She then suggested that "Transy" wouldn’t be an appropriate home for Sandmann because he might not fit in with the school’s "mission" — a mission which, it seems, is not academic excellence.

Sandmann fired back Thursday, torching the ACLU associate for attempting to derail his college experience simply because he is "outraged that my conservative values don’t align with his left-wing ideology."

"So should only liberals and those on the far-left be able to get a college education?" Sandmann asks in his op-ed. "Should there be an ideological purity test required that bars conservatives and Republicans? That’s a pretty frightening idea and sounds like something you would expect in a totalitarian state, not a democracy where we are all guaranteed free speech by the First Amendment to the Constitution."

"Colleges have a reputation of being toxic places for conservative, pro-life ideas like the ones I hold. But an alumni assuming I’ll act in a certain way before even meeting me? Well, that’s a new low," he continues. "To those who are inclined to write my future for me, I say let me define myself. I will not be canceled."

Sandmann is currently working for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s re-election campaign. He is starting college this fall.
