1 man dead, 11 people wounded in Minneapolis shooting
[YNet] - One man is dead and 11 people suffered non-life-threatening wounds in a shooting in Minneapolis, police there said early Sunday.

Minneapolis police had first said 10 people had been shot with "various severity levels of injuries," - but revised their total in a tweet posted just after 3am.

The name and age of the deceased weren't immediately released, and it wasn't clear whether anyone was taken into custody.

Judge denies White House request to block Bolton book, but warns it likely contains 'classified information'
[Washington Examiner] A federal judge has denied the Trump administration’s request to block John Bolton’s book from being released, but nevertheless warned the former national security adviser likely risked U.S. national security by disclosing classified information.

In a 10-page decision, Judge Royce Lamberth of the D.C. District Court wrote that the Justice Department’s arguments against releasing the book were not enough to overcome the fact that the book’s details were already publicly available. Lamberth also said the memoir could be distributed via the internet, even if he ruled that it could not be published.

Multiple news outlets already have reported on leaked content from the book.

"For reasons that hardly need to be stated, the Court will not order a nationwide seizure and destruction of a political memoir," Lamberth wrote.

The judge also chastised Bolton for pushing forward with the book publication process despite not having the green light from the Trump administration about its contents.

On June 20, Lamberth issued a ruling declining to enjoin the publication, but leaving the case open for other remedies.

#5  ....All it's going to take is a single line or reference that can be connected to a classified operation, document, or meeting, and Ambassador Bolton will be toast whether he knew about it or not. He won't see jail time, but it will be expensive enough - for him and his publisher - that they'll both wish he'd kept his mouth shut. See also Matt Bissonnette and No Easy Day.

Ex-Army Ranger's HILARIOUS Ad Mocks Bernie, Biden, Pelosi, AOC ‐ 'Dollar Shave Club'-Style
[PJ] Sean Parnell, a former Army Ranger who won a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars, is challenging Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Pa.) in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District. His campaign released a hilarious "Dollar Sean Club" ad mimicking the style of Dollar Shave Club ads. His ad manages to slam House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

In the ad, Parnell explains that he’s running for Congress because "I’m old enough to remember when Congress functioned as a legislative body, not a Trump Derangement Syndrome support group."

"Do you really think Nancy Pelosi has your best interest in mind? She spent a global pandemic impeaching our president, holding up stimulus for unemployed Americans, and eating gourmet ice cream in her mansion. Not cool, Nancy, not cool," the veteran adds.

"So how does Nancy get away with it? With the help of her socialism squad in the U.S. House, and Nancy Pelosi’s biggest supporter is my opponent, Conor Lamb. Conor became Pelosi’s little lamb the moment he got to Washington," Parnell quips. "He voted against the Born Alive Act, for the job-killing Paris Climate Accords, he voted to impeach our president, has an F-rating from the NRA."

The Republican notes that Lamb votes with Pelosi over 90 percent of the time. "I’m no shepherd, but I can tell you that that’s baaaaad."

Trump mocks ‘zero enthusiasm’ Joe Biden rally in Philadelphia
[NYPOST] President Trump mocked Democratic rival Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant...
for holding a sparsely attended rally in the Philadelphia suburbs earlier this week.

"Joe Biden’s rally. ZERO enthusiasm!" Trump tweeted along with a photo from the event where former vice president spoke to the about 20 supporters Wednesday.

To comply with COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, attendees sat in folding chairs, each surrounded by a circle on the floor — to make sure everyone kept their distance. Many of the chairs were empty.

Trump has made clear that he is going to pack arenas nationwide with thousands of cheering fans after delaying rallies for months because of the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...

Edwards: Trump Sowing ‘Chaos’ for His ‘Hardcore White Supremacist Base’ with Tulsa Rally
[BREITBART] Friday on MSNBC, network political commentator former Rep. Donna Edwards (D- MD) accused President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
of choosing Tulsa, OK for his rally on Saturday to spread chaos among black Americans to please his "hardcore white supremacist base."

Host Joy Reid said, "It is a weird thing. The candidate creates the vibe that they want. They create what they want reflected back to them in the audience. Donald Trump seems to luxuriate in creating atmospheres of violence. That’s what he enjoys at his rallies. As somebody who has been an elected official in the South, people leave Maryland out of the South, but it’s the upper South, what kind of message do you think is being sent to black Americans by Donald Trump holding this rally a day after Juneteenth, so close to the Greenwood section in Tulsa? What do you think he’s intending to say to us?"

Edwards said, "Well, you know, I think it’s not a secret what Donald Trump is both intending to say to black people but also what he’s really saying to his hardcore white supremacist base, and that is that he’s willing to sow chaos and destruction even as he’s running for president and in terms of race to win this election. And so I don’t think that is a secret. It hasn’t been a secret since he descended the escalator at Trump Towers."

She added, "It strikes me that on this Juneteenth, of course, it’s not an accident that, one, he wanted to hold it on the 19th, but that he is so near the Greenwood massacre. He pretends not to know anything about this history, but he does. And what I would say is that I think he’s trying to sow chaos on the streets, and he wants the threat of that so that he can allow his Trumpian base to come out in the worst way. And so I get worried for us that we have a president of the United States who has no regard for human life, who has no regard for our history and who is willing to go to the absolute lowest common denominator, not even a common one, in order to sow his political seeds and for his own political gain."

Barr's letter telling US Attorney Geoffrey Berman he's been fired by Trump
[CNN] Dear Mr. Berman:

I was surprised and quite disappointed by the press statement you released last night. As we discussed, I wanted the opportunity to choose a distinguished New York lawyer, Jay Clayton,
...formally Walter Joseph "Jay" Clayton III, attorney, chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. BS Engineering (summa cum laude), MA in economics from Cambridge on scholarship, JD from UPenn (cum laude) — definitely smart enough to play with the big boys...
to nominate as United States Attorney and was hoping for your cooperation to facilitate a smooth transition. When the Department of Justice advised the public of the President's intent to nominate your successor, I had understood that we were in ongoing discussions concerning the possibility of your remaining in the Department or Administration in one of the other senior positions we discussed, including Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division and Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. While we advised the public that you would leave the U.S. Attorney's office in two weeks, I still hoped that your departure could be amicable.

Unfortunately, with your statement of last night, you have chosen public spectacle over public service. Because you have declared that you have no intention of resigning, I have asked the President to remove you as of today, and he has done so.
Mr. Berman was only an interim appointment. His name was never sent to the Senate for approval, so this was inevitable.
By operation of law, the Deputy United States Attorney, Audrey Strauss, will become the Acting United States Attorney, and I anticipate that she will serve in that capacity until a permanent successor is in place. See 28 U.S.C. 541(c).

To the extent that your statement reflects a misunderstanding
Ouch. U.S. Attorneys are not supposed to misunderstand the law...
concerning how you may be displaced, it is well-established that a court-appointed U.S. Attorney is subject to removal by the President. See United States v. Solomon, 216 F. Supp. 835, 843 (S.D.N.Y. 1963) (recognizing that the "President may, at any time, remove the judicially appointed United States Attorney"); see also United States v. Hilario, 218 F.3d 19, 27 (1st Cir. 2000) (same).
Oh dear. Does he need to go back to law school for a refresher course?
Indeed, the court's appointment power has been upheld only because the Executive retains the authority to supervise and remove the officer.

Your statement also wrongly implies that your continued tenure in the office is necessary to ensure that cases now pending in the Southern District of New York are handled appropriately. This is obviously false.
Ooooh, double ouch with obvious frosting.
I fully expect that the office will continue to handle all cases in the normal course and pursuant to the Department's applicable standards, policies, and guidance. Going forward, if any actions or decisions are taken that office supervisors conclude are improper interference with a case, that information should be provided immediately to Michael Horowitz, the Department of Justice's Inspector General, whom I am authorizing to review any such claim. The Inspector General's monitoring of the situation will provide additional confidence that all cases will continue to be decided on the law and the facts.”

NC governor orders Confederate monuments removed at Capitol after statues toppled
[NEWSOBSERVER] Gov. Roy Cooper ordered three Confederate monuments removed from the state Capitol grounds to protect public safety, he said in a statement, less than 24 hours after protesters pulled down two bronze soldiers from the 75-foot Confederate monument at the Capitol.

The monuments include memorials that have stood at the State Capitol for more than a century: the remainder of the North Carolina Confederate monument, the monument to the Women of the Confederacy and the Henry Wyatt Monument.

Crews removed the Wyatt Monument and the Women of the Confederacy statues Saturday morning.

"I am concerned about the dangerous efforts to pull down and carry off large, heavy statues and the strong potential for violent festivities at the site," Cooper said in a statement Saturday afternoon. "If the legislature had repealed their 2015 law that puts up legal roadblocks to removal we could have avoided the dangerous incidents of last night.

"Monuments to white supremacy
...the pernicious doctrine that laws were intended to be obeyed, that society works better when people don't pour shreiking from their places of worship every Friday for a weekend of rioting over insults real or imagined; and that cannibalism, beastiality, incest, murder, theft, rape, and similar activities are bad. A Dead White European (which invalidates his opinion) philosopher once opined that societies thrive when a person's word can be relied upon, and that a society which puts individual happiness first will invariably fail. Strangely enough, other successful societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and those kinds of places could also be lumped with white supremacist societies, since they push the same values...
don’t belong in places of allegiance, and it’s past time that these painful memorials be moved in a legal, safe way," Cooper said.

Friday night, after protesters removed the bronze statues, they hung the statue of a cavalryman by its neck from a streetlight. The other statue, an artilleryman, was dragged through the streets to the Wake County Courthouse, and later was carried away by police in a golf cart.

#1  ...Governor Fu@kstick - I'm sorry, Cooper - you also stated that if the NC Legislation hadn't passed laws forbidding the illegal removal of statues, this wouldn't have happened.

Got news for ya, Sugarplum. These morons are interested in erasing history and going straight for what the Khmer Rouge so charmingly called, 'Year Zero'. They wouldn't have cared how many laws your state did or didn't have; they are infuriated toddlers who want what they want when they want it, and unlike most toddlers are fully and completely prepared to resort to violence. At this point, since you seem bound and determined not to make any effort to stop them and indeed, are apparently encouraging them, the only conclusion one can come to is that you're hoping they come for you last.

And one more thing.

About a year ago, I had a chance to drive through the back country of NC. Even here in SC - where I have lived for 27 years - I have yet to see as many Confederate flags in toto here as I did in those few hours of driving through south central NC. You think your state is Charlotte and Raliegh-Durham.

It ain't. You would do well to remember that.

Regards,

Mike

New York City parks to be renamed after Black Americans
[PIX11] New York City parks in each borough will be renamed to honor Black Americans.

The announcement was made Friday by Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver in honor of Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S.

The holiday took on added meaning this year amid ongoing protests calling for racial equality, and in that spirit, Silver said it is time to recognize and correct the inequities laid to bare in the course of creating the city parks system.

To kick off the initiative as well as honor the homegoing of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and other Black Americans who have have been killed, the Parks Department announced the creation of Juneteenth Grove at Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn.

The agency planted 19 new flowering trees flanking the park’s main entry path on Tillary Street and installed new banners marking the area as Juneenth Grove.

Nineteen benches along the path have been repainted in the red, black and green colors of the globally recognized Pan-African Flag.

"In my six years as commissioner I have been committed to creating safe, inclusive spaces for staff and parkgoers, alike," Silver said in a statement Friday. "NYC Parks believes Black lives matter — our review of park names and the planting of our Juneteenth Grove is only the beginning of our renewed efforts to address inequities in our system for the city and for our employees. We are doing this, if for no other reason than, our Black lives matter."
