Look at this objectively. Russia has paid a heavy price, but NATO allies are paying an even greater price, and Ukraine is essentially wiped out as an independent functioning nation.
For Russia, controlling >20% of Ukrainian territory, including four entire provinces, plus consolidating control over Crimea amounts to a decisive victory. The total destruction of Ukraine as a functioning economic entity is gravy — as is creating chaos and instability from London to Berlin to Rome. A heavy price paid but one the Russians are happy to pay in exchange for destroying Ukraine and cementing control over Crinea and the land bridge thereto.
Poor Ukraine has been completely raped, ratfucked, destroyed. If Zelensky or rather Biden had simply accepted Minsk II’s provisions, Ukraine would have been *far* better off. Think about it: through negotiations they could have retained control of their territory, their industrial base, their mines and factories in the Donbas, and all the associated tax revenues. All this, without the loss of 3 million emigres, over 100,000 casualties so far and 30,000 each month. And without $700 billion in rebuilding costs.

Other than forcing the EU to reduce their dependence on Russian gas, or distributing the suck evenly so it's that only the Germans can continue to run their industry while everyone else suffers. Forcing the Europeans to put their money where their mouth is with the Russian situation.
What else? Calling out Russia as maniacal idiots? They're already doing that successfully. Keeping Russia from earning the gas moolah? Now that strategy is pedestrian.

Based in no expertise on the subject whatsoever, I am inclined toward an industrial accident due to Russian neglect following substandard pipe welds or the equivalent.
Also, believing China is a chump’s game — China is asshole, and believes itself in an unnoticed, slow motion war against the U.S. as they inevitably replace us as world hegemon. Assuming Russia hasn’t screwed it up for them by by hitting the trigger too soon. Me, I think China misread the bend of the arc of history, as others have in their turn about Communism, Socialism, Japan, Inc., the Third Way of Fascism, Napoleon, and the Democratic Party.

I am curious what September's electric bills were across Europe. And I don't think anyone has really turned the heaters on yet.
Thing I came across posited somebody bonkered an interior maintenance/cleaning procedure. But here is another team, involved or not, ready to make hay of the crises, and apparently the swathers are ready for a sabotage verdict.

That is, if that were the case, the people preforming the procedure would have known like right then the cause. Obviously that would be a bit embarrassing, but an explanation would be available at least, no matter how mad people got.
